SEVEN SENTENCE SUNDAY
“Desperate, are we?” TK laughs, sliding his shirt over his head when Carlos nudges at it. Carlos forgets his lips in favor of his chest and abs, licking just beside his nipples to tease. “It’s been too long.”
“It’s been 2 weeks,” he says, moaning when Carlos’ hands reach sensitive places. “Exactly. Too long.” TK giggles before pulling Carlos’ face back to his, slowing down his movements. He kisses him lightly, sliding his tongue in beside Carlos’. The younger man relaxes against his touch, humming into his mouth.

“TK?”
All six of their gazes snap over to Jonah, standing at the end of the hallway like he doesn’t want to interrupt the adults in the living room. He has matching rocketship pajamas on and looks so small as he shifts on his feet.
“Hey, bud. Are we being too loud?” TK asks. Upon closer look, his eyes are wide and shiny and his bottom lip begins to quiver. TK shoots off the couch instantly, crouching down in front of Jonah before pulling him into a hug. “Hey. Hey, what’s going on?”
Jonah doesn’t answer and he shyly looks at the rest of them, causing them to avert their gazes. TK seems to pick up on his brother’s hesitation because he hoists Jonah into his arms.
“Okay. C’mon,” he murmurs quietly, and then the duo disappears out of sight while Carlos remains in the living room. With the rest of their friends. Because that’s all he is.

Thank you @heartstringsduet and @carlos-in-glasses for the tag!! Here’s a few sentences for a very cold Sunday. I’m editing this last part of Stone Cold Will You Miss Me now; it should be on AO3 tomorrow!
For a moment, their gross, congested breathing is the only sound. Then TK, strangely timid, asks, “Carlos? Are you awake?”
Carlos rolls over to face TK. “Yeah,” he whispers. TK is pale and sweaty, his green eyes red-rimmed. His nose is pink and a little raw. Carlos thinks he’s beautiful. He swallows painfully, trying to memorize TK’s face.
“I know I was a little bitch,” TK blurts.

Thank you for the tag @heartstringsduet 🩷
So happy to share seven sentences from my Secret Santa fic Fall On Your Knees, now it's posted on Ao3. Such a delight to write this for Michelle 🩷
Carlos is about to reach for the handle when it’s pushed down from the other side, and suddenly his father, dressed head to toe as Santa Claus, barrels on through.
Gabriel shuts the door behind him, leaning his full weight against it. A polyester white beard attached to his face with elastic blows upwards as he exhales.
“I think they saw me!” he whisper-shouts, looking around, “Carlitos, where can I…? Ah!”
Gabriel spies the closet and rushes towards it, practically ripping the door off its hinges as he disappears into the dark rectangle, the snowball pompom of his Santa hat batting his right ear as he flees.
Technically, the closet is a walk-in, in the sense that you can take a few steps inside before going no farther. So, Gabriel Reyes dressed as Santa Claus has voluntarily stuffed himself into a cramped dark space, and when Carlos hears high-pitched chuckling out in the hallway, he finally computes why this must be.

Can you believe it's the Sunday before Christmas? Will I freak out even more NEXT Sunday, when it's the last one of the year? YES. Anyway, have some more of the wolf fic in winter wonderland. Happy holidays!🌙☃️
Life’s a series of learning. Today, TK learns that Carlos’ skin looks infinitely warmer against a sheet of bright white snow.
He’s quick to undress, but there is no hesitation in discarding his shirt, his shoes his pants. He hands them TK neatly folded, despite goosebumps running up his entire body and his breath growing white in the air of the forest.
“You know what would be really funny?” TK asks, when the pile of clothes grows and his eyes feast on more and more bare skin, lingering on tan hard nipples.
Carlos quirks an eyebrow. “Don’t say for people to come by.”
“Oh come on, it’s be a little funny to see you undress in the middle of the woods in winter, while I just stood by watching, bundled up and warm.”
“Pretty sure they’d call the police for public indecency.”
“Or for being worried for your mental health.”
Carlos shakes his head with a smile as he drops his underwear and hands it to him. He’s always had this air of confidence about him that TK has felt attracted to, and even with purpling lips, shivers over his body and his cock shrinking in the cold, he looks perfectly assured.
TK opens his puffer jacket, and steps in against him, drawing the sides around Carlos as much as he can. It's all it takes to have Carlos melting against him, seeking out his warmth as he runs his palms up TK’s back and hides his face in his neck. OPEN TAG

❄️ Day 21 - You Can Call Me Babe for the Weekend ❄️
🎁 Today's fic is dedicated to @ironheartwriter! It’s Lana's birthday!!! Go and shower her in birthday wishes and love!
Summary: Carlos agrees to be TK's date to Enzo's family Christmas gathering in New York.
Word count: 1122
24 Days of Tarlos Masterpost
Tumblr media
“Uchh,” TK groans, slumping into an empty chair beside Nancy with a bowl of Paul’s chili.
”What’s wrong with you?” She asks, eyeballing her best friend with apprehension.
”I need a date for this Christmas dinner thing my stepdad is hosting,” TK explains.
”Why do you need a date?” Marjan quirks a brow from where she’s seated across the table.
”Because,” TK starts, already beginning to wave his sass hand in the air. “My family will pester me about why I’m still single after Alex dumped me over a year ago. Or they’ll keep bringing him up and rehashing exactly what I did wrong to make my boyfriend be unfaithful to me. It’ll be a whole thing and I’d really rather avoid it. It’s just, how the hell can I find a date less than a week before I need one? And he has to be willing to go to New York with me and my mom.”
”I’ll go with you.”
All eyes around the table snap forward to the cop sitting at the end beside Paul.
Carlos is staring at TK with genuine interest in solving his problem and TK is practically melting inside at the thought of Carlos being his fake date to his dysfunctional family Christmas. He and Carlos have become close friends in the year that TK’s moved to Austin. In fact, he’s the one who invited the patrol officer over for lunch on his shift because he knows Carlos loves Paul’s chili.
TK also has an embarrassingly huge crush on Carlos, one he knows Nancy is aware of, and she is making eyeballs at him right now and jabbing his calf with her foot to accept Carlos’s offer.
”Oh, that’s so sweet, Carlos, but you don’t have to,” TK shakes his head.
”I’d like to,” Carlos offers TK a small smile. His big, brown eyes get all soft, and TK is nothing but putty in this man’s hands because how could he refuse cow eyes?
He can’t. Which is how he has found himself days later wedged between his mother, bouncing a baby Jonah on her knee, and Carlos, on a plane bound for New York.
His mom is in on the ruse, Gwyn also aware that her son has feelings for the officer, and she has agreed to play along for the sake of this weekend going smoothly.
Carlos is accepted into the de la Costa family like he’s their own son. He flirts with Tía Carmen, complimenting her and winking like they have years of inside jokes between them. He’s great with the small gaggle of children that are somehow related to Enzo. He even charms Enzo himself, who more often than not never seemed too impressed with the guys TK introduced him to.
It’s at the big family dinner though that Carlos is really put to the test as TK’s boyfriend. They had predetermined many details of their forged relationship, especially after Nancy intervened and brought up her extensive movie and book knowledge on the very subject of fake dating. But of course, the one aspect they somehow hadn’t considered to figure out is asked.
”So, Carlos, how did you and TK meet?” Enzo’s sister asks, as she passes Carlos a bowl of salad.
Carlos grins, looking over at TK beside him before back at Catalina.
“We were on a call, actually,” Carlos begins. “It was raining, and I’d heard the 126 had a new fire captain, but I hadn’t met him or his son yet. We had to save this baby stuck in a tree and the moment TK laid eyes on me, I Was completely done for. All I could see were these bright green eyes, shining in the headlights. TK probably doesn’t remember this, but he stood beside me and grabbed my shoulder while his dad climbed the ladder himself to save the baby.”
Carlos is wrong. TK does remember all that. What surprises him most though is that Carlos also remembers it.
”I saw him again later that night after work at this honky tonk in Austin and I asked him to dance,” Carlos continues, looking back towards TK and reaching for his hand with a smile. “It was the best decision of my life.”
TK also remembers the line dancing at the bar. He stepped on Carlos’s feet and they laughed and he swore he’d never met anyone more beautiful. But TK was a wrecking ball back then. A hot mess fresh off a relapse and a breakup and he had no business getting involved with anyone else so soon, sexual or otherwise. He still felt too raw, too on edge, and even before he knew Carlos’s name, he knew Carlos deserved better than that. So they became friends. And now TK’s wondering if maybe he ruined their chance to ever be more all the way back then, on that first night they’d met.
Only Carlos is looking at him like he hung the moon and practically everyone around the table is swooning over Carlos’s story.
“God, that’s romantic. Dammit, Javier, why can’t you be more like Carlos!” Catalina turns to her own husband to swat at his arm, and the table dissolves into laughter and chatter, and TK can’t stop staring at Carlos.
He catches Carlos’s eye, and Carlos just smiles softly back at him.
“Aren’t you two the cutest lovebirds,” Abuelita just melts from across the table as she catches them staring at each other. “Reminds me of me and my husband when we were young.”
TK just laughs and squeezes Carlos’s hand. “Hear that, babe? Sounds like Abuelita’s already planning our wedding.”
“I’m just saying,” Abuelita laughs. “I know that look when I see it.”
Later, when they’re alone for the night and trying to solve the issue of only one bed, TK just sinks onto the edge of the mattress, his head still spinning from earlier. “I didn’t know you remembered when we met that well.”
Carlos freezes where he’d been gathering pillows to make a makeshift divider on the bed. “I remember everything about you, TK.”
“What does that mean?” TK furrows his brows at his fake boyfriend.
“It means I meant every word,” Carlos explains slowly with a small, hopeful smile. “You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, TK, and I know you weren’t ready for anything back then, but I’ve waited, hoping that one day, you might be.”
TK’s brows shoot to his forehead as he stares at Carlos.
That night, the pillow divider is abandoned as their clothes end up on the floor, and TK does what he should’ve done all those months ago, and Carlos is even happier to become TK’s real boyfriend than to be his fake one.

trees are very 🥺 because sometimes i’ll stand under the shade of a tree and look up at it and it’ll sway its branches about in the wind and i’m like oh my God i’m alive and YOU’RE alive. we are alive together and made up of the same starry stuff and standing right next to each other in this moment on this earth. do u feel it when i reach out and press my hand to your trunk? can you hear me? i think you’re so neat. and then the sunlight filters through its leaves just so and that lovely green color leaves me dazzled. it’s just very nice to be an alive thing next to a different sort of alive thing

❄️ Day 20 - Stranded in Holly Grove ❄️
🎁 Today's fic is dedicated to @bonheur-cafe
Summary: The Catan Crew get stranded in a weird little small town overnight.
Word count: 998
Inspired by the prompt "5. After the car breaks down in a small town during a road trip, a group of friends decide to stay as long as it takes to fix the car and explore the town and area surrounding it." found here

“Okay, this is beyond even my level of expertise,” Marjan sighs as she drops the hood of Nancy’s car and steps back.
“So, what? You mean we’re stuck here??” Nancy groans in frustration.
“Hey, don’t blame me!” Marjan shoots back. “You’re the one who said your car could handle this cross-country road trip…”
“Guys,” Paul puts his hands up. “Let’s just call a tow truck and find the nearest town. It’s going to be dark soon anyways. Not the best time to be stuck on the side of the road regardless of what’s wrong with the car.”
“Paul’s right,” Carlos pipes up from where he’s sitting beside TK on the snowy curb. “It’s getting late, we’re surely all getting hungry. We planned on staying somewhere for the night anyway.”
“Plus it’s so cold out here my ass is freezing off,” TK adds.
“Nice image, babe,” Carlos laughs, pulling his boyfriend closer and rubbing his arm over his jacket.
“Ugh, fine,” Nancy ducks back into her car to make the call and about an hour later with the friendliest tow truck driver ever, Nancy, Paul, Mateo, Marjan, TK, and Carlos are being dropped off in the nearby town of Holly Grove–a town which the tow truck driver could not stop raving about. The driver also encouraged them to go straight to the inn to check into rooms for the night, and after to go to the local diner and order whatever is on special tonight.
Once Nancy’s car has been dropped off with the local mechanic–who has an uncanny resemblance to Santa and showed up in his robe and slippers with the promise to take a look at it in the morning–the friends spill into the inn off Main Street and are immediately greeted with warmth from a fire and a smiling woman behind the counter in a Christmas sweater.
“Y’all are shivering harder than Jack Frost during a freeze, can I get y’all some hot cocoa?” The woman asks with a blinding smile.
“Is this town giving extremely weird vibes to anyone else?” Mateo whispers in TK’s ear.
“Definitely,” TK nods.
“No, we just want rooms for the night,” Nancy explains. “My car broke down a few miles outside of town and we just dropped it off.”
“Oh! Well you are in for a real treat!” The woman laughs. “We’re having our annual Christmas pageant tomorrow if you stick around!”
Nancy glances back at the group, mouthing, ‘what the fuck?’ before turning back to the woman. “Thanks, ma’am, but we’ll probably leave as soon as my car is ready. Any chance we can get three rooms? Two rooms with two beds and one room with one.”
The woman glances around the group, as if trying to figure out who the lone bed could be for before turning back to Nancy. “Certainly! Let me see what we have available.”
Three sets of golden keys later, and they’re all heading up the stairs with their modest luggage and into their rooms.
“I’m glad Nance gave us the room with one bed,” TK grins, sitting on the edge of the mattress as Carlos opens their suitcase, rifling around for both their toiletry bags.
“Well it was pretty obvious Nancy would room with Marj and send the boys off to room together,” Carlos hums. “Kinda just leaves us.”
“Well I’m glad either way, I get enough of rooming with other people at work,” TK laughs, catching Carlos’s wrist. “Plus I like having you all to myself.”
Carlos smiles as he’s pulled into a warm kiss.
A little while later, they venture out into the cold again, in search of the diner, and cram into a corner booth when they find it, and order the dinner special as was suggested to them.
“This town is weird right?” Paul asks, leaning forward across the table to whisper conspiratorially.
“Extremely weird,” Marjan agrees.
“It’s like some sort of Hallmark movie town,” Carlos shakes his head. The rest of the table turns to gape at him, aside from TK, who just laughs and wraps his hands around Carlos’s arm. “What! My mom makes me watch them with her sometimes.”
“He’s your comfort nerd, huh, TK?” Marjan winks.
“Oh, yeah,” TK grins. “Definitely.”
Their food comes out shortly after and it’s plates of admittedly some of the best damn chicken they’ve ever had, coated in some sort of creamy peppercorn gravy, with loaded mashed potatoes on the side, and honey carrots.
“Holy shit,” Mateo practically moans into his bite.
“Same,” TK immediately agrees. “This is so fucking good.”
Dinner is followed by pie and another round of approving moans from the table. It is really good pie.
The next morning, Nancy drags TK and Carlos with her to talk to the mechanic about her car.
“I’m sorry,” he tells her. “The part I need for your car won’t be here until tomorrow.”
Carlos steps forward, eyes flicking to the mechanic’s shirt. His name tag embroidered into his shirt reads N. Kringle. “Mr…Kringle…we really have to get back on the road today.”
“It just won’t be possible,” Kringle says with a shake of his head. “But you lovely folks are welcome to stay and enjoy our Christmas pageant. There’s always a big party at the diner after.”
“Oh, we wouldn’t want to intrude,” Carlos shakes his head.
“No intrusion,” Kringle shakes his head with a kind smile. “We love having guests in town at the holidays! There’s plenty of Christmas cheer to go around, son.”
Nancy groans as they walk away. “I guess we’re staying.”
“It seems like we have no choice,” Carlos frowns.
“Maybe we can just try and make the most of it. It looks like there’s some cute shops on Main Street that might have good Christmas gifts,” TK shrugs.
“Let’s just get back to the inn and find the others and maybe start with breakfast at that diner,” Nancy says. “Hopefully their eggs and bacon are as good as that pie from last night.”

❄️ Day 19 - The Perfect Gift ❄️
🎁 Today's fic is dedicated to @henrygrass!
Summary: Carlos goes Christmas shopping with his mom.
Word count: 980
24 Days of Tarlos Masterpost
Tumblr media
Carlos really doesn’t want to be here. But when his mother caught wind that it’s his day off, she showed up at the loft ten minutes faster than he knows it should’ve taken her to get there.
“Do I need to write you a speeding ticket, mamá?” Carlos jokes, kissing his mom on the cheek before rolling the loft door closed behind her.
Andrea clucks her tongue and rolls her eyes.
“Between my husband and my son, you think I don’t know my way around traffic cops?” She winks at him. “I was already in the area. Where’s TK?”
That twists the knife still plunged in Carlos’s heart, just when he almost forgot for two whole seconds that there’s a gaping chasm in his chest that’s TK-shaped.
“At work,” Carlos supplies lamely.
He’s never been good at lying, but he’s not great with the truth either. And anyways he has good enough reason to assume TK probably is at work. It’s a safe bet. Safer than to assume he’s at the gym, or on a date, or somewhere else where other men could look at him and try and get with him and TK could let them because he’s single.
Carlos pushes the thought from his mind and shakes himself out of it as he realizes his mom just asked him something.
“I’m sorry, what was that?”
“I asked if you’ve bought him anything for Christmas yet?” Andrea repeats herself.
More pain and guilt just roil together in Carlos’s stomach.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to tell her he and TK are no longer an item, it’s just that saying it aloud will make it real, and also, he really doesn’t want to tell her. His parents finally were so accepting and supportive of who Carlos is, and who Carlos wants to date. They love TK. He worries it might break their hearts irreparably to find out how big of a failure their son really is. He already couldn’t keep a wife. Now he can’t keep the most perfect man either.
“No,” he says, trying to keep his voice level despite the turbulent emotions inside of him right now. “I just haven’t had the time.”
“Ah, well you’ve both been busy with work and furnishing the loft I’m sure,” Andrea waves her hands in the air. “We’ll just have to do it while we’re out today!”
This is how Carlos has found himself shopping at the Domain outdoor mall in Austin with his mother, feeling not unlike he’s fifteen again as he follows her around and is tasked with carrying her shopping.
They go into store after store, Andrea prattling off what she wants to get for Carlos’s sisters, and Carlos’s father, and her friends from church and the other various clubs she’s a part of.
“What do you think of this for TK?” She asks.
Carlos realizes they’re in the men’s section at Dillard’s and Andrea is showing Carlos a really nice cashmere sweater. Carlos blinks at the sweater. It really is something TK would love, it’s a nice blue color with a cable knit pattern. He glances at the price tag, and shakes his head.
“He’s already got some like that,” Carlos explains.
Also not entirely a lie. Carlos bought TK some very nice sweaters when they had to replace their wardrobes after the fire. He remembers the way TK’s face lit up when Carlos surprised him with a few cashmere sweaters.
“Carlos!” He’d said with a big grin on his face. “We’re here to replace hoodies, baby. Not so you can buy me fancy sweaters.”
“You deserve it,” Carlos told him, with a soft kiss to the cheek. And he did deserve it. TK always deserved to feel special.
Carlos thinks he misses being TK’s baby most of all.
Carlos keeps finding excuses for everything Andrea shows him that could be for TK. It just isn’t right, or they’re out of his size, or he already has something similar.
“Enough, mijo!” Andrea finally huffs. “What is all this? You want to buy your boyfriend the perfect gift?”
Carlos just shrugs, a tiny, “Something like that,” slipping out.
Andrea smiles and shakes her head in exasperation at her son. “Perfect doesn’t exist, Carlitos. Heaven knows how much I tried finding the perfect gift for the first few years your father and I were together. What did you get him last year?”
“It was still the pandemic last year, and we were new, I got him a hoodie and some things for him to keep at my place,” Carlos explains. “This year just feels different, you know?”
Andrea nods. “You’re more serious now, living together, owning a place together. You want the gift to be more grownup, too.”
Carlos shrugs again with a vague, “Yeah.”
“I have just the thing,” Andrea grabs Carlos by the wrist and hauls him to the jewelry and accessories department of the store. “You get him a nice watch, and a nice cologne, and pair it with one of those cashmere sweaters we passed earlier. I know you wanted it for him, if the money’s an issue, I can buy it.”
Carlos frowns, “No, mamá, the money isn’t an issue…wait, he really wanted this one.”
Carlos spots a nice, silver watch that had been too expensive for TK to treat himself to when they’d been shopping to replace their things. But now it’s on sale and Carlos doesn’t know why he grabs it to buy for his ex-boyfriend other than to say he’s bought something that will appease his mother.
“You should get that for him then,” Andrea smiles encouragingly, her eyes bright and happy, as if she’s imagining TK’s surprise when Carlos presents him with the gift he wanted.
“I think I will,” Carlos stares at the watch before looking up at his mom and offering her a tiny smile. “Thanks, ma.”

This art was a huge challenge. I had to prioritize what I wanted to stand out even with many elements in the composition, be careful not to make it look cluttered even with many colors, and pay attention to many other things 😂 Even though Lim told me about the books in the library, I couldn't make much use of it 😭 hehe Also, look at my silly sketch that I drew after hearing mar's idea!

The first thing Carlos clocks when he wakes up is that there are cold toes pressing into his calves. The next thing he realizes is that he’s cold. He’s bare-chested and his menace of a husband has the audacity to not only steal his side of the blankets, but also burrow into them like a TK burrito, and press his cold feet into Carlos’s leg.
Carlos withdraws his head from beneath his pillow like a turtle crawling out of its shell and flops like a seal across the bed in search of TK, who squeaks when Carlos plops on him, depositing his head on TK’s chest and burrowing into him for warmth.
“Excuse me! What do you think you are doing!” TK exclaims as Carlos wraps tight arms around TK and buries his cold nose against TK’s neck. That earns Carlos another squeak. “Carlos!”
“Blanket hog,” Carlos grins.
TK snakes his arms around Carlos, bringing the comforter with him to wrap Carlos in it like a cocoon. Carlos only burrows further into TK, his eyes slipping closed as he’s enveloped in warmth.
It only lasts a split second.
Carlos’s husband hooks a leg around his thighs and rolls them both over, TK on top and grinning like he’s just gotten a prize.
He’s undeniably sleepy, his hair sticking up at odd ends, his green eyes still a little puffy, his voice raspy. He’s undeniably the most beautiful thing Carlos has ever laid eyes on.
“Hi,” TK says, his smile soft.
“Good morning, beautiful,” Carlos murmurs back, gaze starry.
TK ducks his face like he sometimes does when Carlos calls him that. When he looks back up, his smile is brilliant. He gently lowers himself down on top of Carlos, offering up his own body as the best sort of weighted blanket. They trade closed-mouth lazy kisses until TK’s mouth starts wandering south.
He’s mouthing at Carlos’s chest and Carlos is running fingers through TK’s hair. There’s nothing hurried in any of it and it feels so good.
“TK?”
“Hmm?” TK hums against Carlos’s skin.
“It’s our first joint day off in forever and the weather is supposed to be pretty dreary all day, rainy and in the forties. Is there anything you want to do today?”
“How about we have a little morning sex, then maybe a shower and make pancakes together? We can clean and bring up the holiday decorations later,” TK smiles down at Carlos. “How does that sound?”
Carlos just wraps his arms around TK and tugs his body closer. “Sex and cleaning? Oh, baby, you know just how to get me going.”
TK laughs, “I just know you, husband.”
Carlos smiles up at TK, lost in his dazzling eyes. “You do know me.”
“Can I make one request though?”
“Sure,” Carlos nods.
“Will you make me Mexican hot cocoa and watch a movie with me later?” TK asks with a soft smile.
“I think we can make that happen,” Carlos pulls TK into a gentle kiss. “Sounds like the perfect day.”
