Dani x Jason Prompt
(Because i dont see enough of these two together. Also, this is another prompt i found in my fic files that i never did anything with.)
While Danny is in Amity Park protecting the ghost portal, Dani explores the world. Danny might be powerful enough to put down any threat, even Ancients, but she isn't as lucky. Her best defense against Vlad or the GIW is to never be in the same place two days in a row. Not to say she isn't powerful in her own right - she's yet to meet a ghost in her travels that she couldn't utterly crush, and even if she had, she's got the most loyal dog in both this world and the next to have her six.
Dani has discovered a great deal of beauty throughout the world in her few short years of life, but also unfathomable evil and undescribable corruption. She does what she can in every place she passes through, her ghost powers the ultimate cheat code for investigation and subterfuge, bringing to light the things that once hid in the dark.
But while scoping out yet another child trafficking ring, she crosses paths with a spirit of vengeance. At least, that's the only explanation she can come up with for how he's able to turn his shock and horror into pure rage at the flip of a dime.
Until she realizes that he's a baby halfa. If he doesn't learn how to mediate his emotions, he's going to burn out one of his halves.
Maybe she can help him stabilize into a proper spirit of justice and keep him from following the path that Vlad went down - oh shit, he doesn't even know that he's undead. Well, this is going to be a project and a half. But Dani is nothing if not resourceful - she's more than willing to put in the work if it means making an ally of the fourth known halfa.
Featuring:
Dani and jason are about the same age (16-17ish)
They run into each other during jason's LoA-sponsored world tour, investigating the same trafficking ring
Cujo is there too
Dani totally helps with the crime lord grand plan, but also wrestles jason down from the more messed up family drama stuff he did, like attacking tim, and knocks some sense into him and finds a better solution for dealing with the joker
#dpxdc#dp x dc#jason x dani#can be romantic or platonic as long as its ride or die#if good fenton parents then dani AND jason are treated like bonus children#but this can be pre reveal or bad reveal too#but danny (and potentially his parents) are background characters that only exist to provide support when needed#also some time after meeting the two drop off the face of the earth so effectively that not even talia can find them#they show back up like a month later and jason is now a fully trained amazon warrior#because he and dani spent a month training in the realms under pandora while also healing jason's core#in this au team phantom and dani are very nearly robin-level vigilantes because they have an army of mentors in the realms#and if dani is 16-17 that means danny is 18-19#lol maybe hes already in gotham for college when dani and jason start up jason's master plan#what if damian gets sent to bruce a few years early because danny dealt with the LoA after meeting jason and learning about the pits?#or both dannies teamed up with jason once hes settled into his powers and all work together to destroy the lazerous pits#and the three of them somehow end up with an assassin child to coparent#idk im going off on tangents now so i gotta stop with the tags

OPEN STARTER (Anyone can reply)
It had been no shocker that Angel had snorted the line of coke before he would grace the stage; he knew it would disappoint Charlie, but there were some habits that were not only hard to break, but incredibly needed in order to get through his job. It wasn't that he didn't love his job in some ways, there was certainly a reason he had gotten into the industry and gotten as big as he had, but there were nights where he just wanted to curl up with Fat Nuggets and pretend the rest of the world wasn't there.
Path to redemption or not, he still had money to make, and a contract to withhold. Val probably cherished him so much because he had so much range - porn wasn't his only gig, considering he also turned tricks on the street, acted in films, modeled, stripped, danced, sang...Okay, Angel was really talented and it was going to waste. Not fully, maybe, but he could easily find work probably anywhere else in Hell, not just limited to the Pride ring, and get better treatment.
But alas, used to being a piece of meat he was, and so he might as well flaunt it and dive full in. He liked the attention, that part wasn't an act. He got irritable when people didn't see merit in him, because it reminded him of how worthless he truly was under it all. He had the looks, that much he knew, and so he reveled in the stares. It was important to him, as stupid as that fucking was. He needed that validation.
Which was why any signs of 'negative' emotion were pushed down the minute the curtain opened, showing off the bright lights and the stage he knew how to work best. His pupils dilated from the high, he had no issue using his long legs to strut onto the stage wearing the costume from his dressing room that Valentino had decided the star would look best in tonight. Red always did look good on him, he knew it would rake in the cash, and the hollering just from him stepping out and over to the pole directly in the middle of the floor proved it was going to be a good night. At least financially.
Taking a deep breath, gloved fingers curled around the pole, before the music started. It wasn't hard to hoist himself up at all, being incredibly flexible and stronger than he looked. Plus he supposed that was part of the blessing of being cursed to be a spider demon while in Hell - he could dance and move every which way - upside down, sideways, no issues at all. Music pumping loudly through the speakers, pulsing through his veins and directly into his heart as he started the performance.
#threads: one of my best performances;;#open starter#go support our favorite slutty spider at what he is best at#im sorry but this song is absolutely top of angels playlist#click the linkies to see#visuals always gotta be provided for this shit to give full effect lol

When people talk about "gendered socialization" I remember how when my brother was born, my mom got a book that if it was published now would be called something like "raising your son without toxic masculinity", but since this was the mid aughts was called something like "how to raise kind and emotionally intelligent sons". My brother received a completely different gender socialization from other boys of the same ethnicity, religion, class, and even broadly similar politics in my very town because my Mom didn't want to treat her kids differently, and was aware of what we'd now call toxic masculinity. He was never punished for showing his emotions or given more leeway when it came to roughhousing than me.
When I was a young child I thought of gender like a society mandated aesthetic and grammatical rules. That people used to say meant you needed to act a certain way, but only Bad People did that now (I was given an extremely optimistic view of how much feminism had achieved). And while my egg didn't quite crack before I was of age to receive the second stage of post-pubscent gender socialization (of which parents have less control), I had become self actualized enough to be reflective of how society worked and not care about conformity, a result of my autism and developmental precociousness. I didn't even blink when a girl told me I needed to start shaving my armpits. And my mom never told me to either. And as for my brother, given the kind of circles he orbits now, my mom reading and following that book is probably the final thread keeping him from falling completely into the manosphere.
All this is to say, this is just one example of how so many little things influence the gender socialization an individual receives, and so acting like trans people have "x socialization" rather than existing and growing up in a society with certain norms is ridiculous.
#queer theory#feminism#sociology#transgender#like im still unpacking how my parents dysfunctional marriage effected me#but the fact my dad could have been replaced with a regular trust payout equal to his salary with minimal disruptions#didnt have the chance to influence my concept of gender roles#but rather my conception of how two people are supposed to provide their children with sufficent support and attentiln

At least 10 different medical "professionals" when I tell them the entire story of me developing POTS, which started with "I got the covid booster": Well, the vaccine doesn't cause *insert whatever the suspected diagnosis of the week was* so that's irrelevant
One cardiologist under the age of 40: Actually, we are starting to see a connection between COVID, the booster, and dysautonomia, particularly in younger people, and especially if they have an autoimmune disorder.
#fuck you fuck you fuck ALL of you and your dismissive bullshit#I HAD TO SUGGEST POTS#None of them were even thinking along those lines#One provider even told me 'dizziness isn't a common symptom of POTS'#dizziness? you think dizziness isn't a common side effect of the too-much-blood-rushing-to-the-lower-half-of-the-body disorder?#I fucking can't with these people#my cardiologist walked into the room and said 'I think I understand your symptoms but tell me everything from the beginning'#then proceeded to say 'yeah this absolutely sounds like POTS and I'm glad you recognized it let's talk about a treatment plan'#I did have to wear a little dude on my chest for two days#heart rate monitor I think#and the adhesive have me a rash#but it's off now and I've been doing all the things he suggested and oh my god I can sing again#Like I have actual good breath support and can sing. and I can talk in long phrases without frequent pauses to catch my breath#I ran a few days ago I actually fucking ran and it didn't kill me#the dizziness is getting better#thank fuck for good doctors#lex rambles

I will always be in favor of playersexuality. Until the day game designers have more nuanced understandings of sexuality.
Game designers still only understand flamboyant gay, mean lesbian, slutty bisexual, and quirky queer. Any identities not those are not even recognized. And any complex characterizations are only afforded to "normal" straight characters.
While Larian gave us a step in the right direction, they are still coming from the above framework and trying to reiterate upon that. And you have to understand that framework in order to recognize why their implementation is still somewhat shallow while still being the best offered compared to other games in the genre.
In the past, every time I encountered a woman in a romanceable video game who correctly represents my own experience of bisexual/pansexual identity, she was only romanceable by male characters.
These are women who have tough exteriors on a spectrum of "bitchy femme", a midpoint of "aloof androgynous", to "tough masc". All points that are gnc in some way, but all are women who also have a soft interior that is interpreted as conventionally feminine.
Game designers interpret these two traits (outward gnc and inner softness) as a nullification to heterosexual woman. Time and time again. Falling into the stereotype of being a woman for a man to tame.
Will they ever understand? Or do people as a whole just don't understand the many ways bisexuality can take shape?
#back in EA people were wanting exclusive sexualities for the characters#and while Lae in particular is perfect as a pan character#i think if larian made exclusive sexualities for the companions#they would have made her straight despite gith pansexuality#there is so much in her writing that skews into a heterosexual framework#where dominating her is a viable path in her romance#a less het framework can still play with the need for protection and the arousal of anothers strength#as providing her a space for feeling strong and supported while feeling “weak”#while still getting off and feeling safe not always “being on top” in w/e manner that entails#but in game its still laced with a power dynamic/conquering/taming framework rather than emotional safety in vulnerability#playersexuality#video games#i will never forgive bioware for this phenomenon#over and over#every one of their games has this character#i will always download mods making these women bi#kotor bastilla#kotor atris#kotor handmaiden#mass effect cora#dragon age aveline#dragon age cassandra#mixing fandoms#forever mad about cassandra pentaghast#text#my think pieces

if local community building is something unrealistic/currently inaccessable/etc for you, developing skills or accumulating knowledge that could be useful is an option with a lot versality. there are skills that can be developed alone/for little to no cost/etc and a lot of wildly varying options that all have the potential to be useful in some context, so you can more easily focus on things that are accessible to you or are most applicable in your situation/etc. You can also prepare for things getting worse ahead of time to mitigate damage (eg if someone might not be able to safely access abortion information in the future but can access it now, processing legal shit before it gets rolled back, learning about first aid Before it becomes suddenly necessary, etc).
#not that community organising isn't good or important#but for example 'talk to your neighbours isn't necessarily helpful when your neighbours are trump supporters#and some people are in more dangerous positions with that that others#and also effective community organizing is something that does require skill/aptitude#not everyone is going to good at or in a position to do the same thing but fortunately there are a lot of different options available#mypost#i realise it would be more helpful to add specific examples/resources but i can't right now#i will probably attempt to later though#i just think it's worth pointing out as many avenues that could helo as possible#and i think providing more specific examples/resources will be more actionable#but information and ability are genuinly in themselves very valuable resources if used well#and historically fascists have specifically targeted those things for a reason#this was supposed to be just like. a post. but i'm lowkey considering starting a blog about it#* and there are things you can do over longer distances. like some translation stuff you can volunteer for and things that require osint

it's incredibly apt to me that the spiderverse team specifically drew upon brutalism as the primary style for the architecture of spider society because it's a style simultaneously linked to this notion of raw honesty (because you expose the material laying at the core of the structure) + social wellfare (as concrete was relatively cheaper to use and thus you got a lot of cheaper housing utilising this style), egalitarian by nature - it all looks the same, function over form etc.
but it ended up also getting associated with the structural flaws present in social wellfare systems by virtue of where it was applied as well as it being a style that's quite intense by nature (some would even argue ugly fjdfjk), and thus you get people implicitly associating it with those structural flaws and thinking of it as oppressive, even though the movement wasn't like. intentionally trying to cultivate that impression or be utilised in such a way.
which is interesting to me because that kind of duality works perfectly with the kind of tonal shift miles goes through when operating in that environment. spider society is at first wonderous and bright and brilliant, evocative of endless possibilties and stylistically almost like a large concrete web. but when miles is failed by that system, the large concrete web becomes constraining and suffocating.
hell, the idealogical roots of brutalism even work to an extent with the idealogical roots of spider society. neither was cultivated with the active intent to cause harm, and they're both associated with the desire to promote a future that is providing for the people utilsing it, but ultimately it's a tool. and any tool can be one that, inadvertently or otherwise, causes harm.
#the analogy and connections im drawing OF COURSE only extends so far as spider society is moreeee. an anaolgy#for the harm that's perpetuated if you subscribe to belief systems that exclude anomalous traits/experiences#<- and even THAT becomes messy because the very nature of the stakes naturalises that belief system as having legit concerns#but that analogy is also secondary in the story's priorities to providing a lens for the characters to be able to interact w the#suffering in their lives and qustion what purpose it holds - if any#so miles shocking miguel is tonally a celebration of the idea that you should leave systems that fail to support you in the way they should#but it's tonally an endorsement of miles having hope where miguel has succumbed to despair#spiderverse is very fond of using emotional shorthand (this isnt a criticism - its just acknowledgement of what its doing) and i think esp#in a film designed to be understood by teenagers/older kids and w a strict runtime this kind of technique is effective#even if it inherently has some drawbacks (naturalisation of the stakes if youre not careful about how you write the solution to those stake#its trying to say a lot with a broad emotional sweep and thats hard and shit can get lost in the water or implications not accounted for#but hey thats the fun of critical analysis#tunes talks spiderverse#long post

taking a moment to add my two cents i think
#i am awake because sitting up prevents me from coughing as much it seems#my hot take of the evening is i think that a lot of people who resent literary analysis just didn't get proper scaffolding#when they were exposed to it#i think a lot of people had english teachers who didn't know how to properly structure their instruction and just let kids loose#sending them out onto the seemingly empty field of the page and then immediately lining them up in their crosshairs for judgement#or at least my english teacher was a lot like that#i think a lot of people perceive literary analysis as pointless frustrating right/wrong busy work#or some kind of painful arduous endeavor that rewards nothing#because their teachers effectively set it up to be just that#an effective literary analysis curriculum should involve modeling and repeated practice with frequent feedback#but i feel like so many english teachers when we were growing up just focused on lecture and then assessment#leaving a massive gap between what skills students come in with and what's expected of them#not only that but also i feel like the lack of relevance in literary content has a lot to do with it#i didn't especially enjoy proper literary analysis until i had a choice in what to analyze#and had consistent scaffolding to support the direction i wanted to go#i didn't write 23+ pages on kafka because it was a requirement--i wrote it because my professor got me invested in it and provided support#i think that's an issue with a lot of areas in education#thankfully it's changing (however slowly) but god. death to the lecture -> assessment model of instruction

Made a behavioral health appt with a new provider because I'm getting new insurance and can't keep sering my therapist out of network and I needed a new psych anyway, and somehow these people managed to schedule me an intake for literally the day after Christmas?????
Like.....I called this morning..... and they're getting me in DURING A HOLIDAY PERIOD in under a week???? Take the holidays out and that is literally 2 (MAYBE 3) business days.
Color me fuckin impressed.
Like this is so fucking quick that I just assumed until SEVERAL HOURS LATER that the appt must be for Jan 26th because that made more sense. I checked. December. Like damn yall got some efficient intake procedures.
On the other hand, they did hold a brief risk assessment for me on the phone before scheduling and the less flattering (to all involved) option here is that I just scored high enough that they were like "we're slotting this bitch into one of the emergency intake slots"
Hopefully they're just very efficient lmaooooo I don't need yet another phone call letting me know I'm too much of a liability to take on as a patient rn
#the intake is actually done by a separate team from ongoing care#so i definitely won't get meds represcribed that quick#i definitely won't get my assessments done that quick#but assuming they schedule me with my actual providers sometime in january i will still be getting care faster than expected#i DO fully anticipate none of therapists like. chomping at the bit to add me to their caseload#my psychiatric history is uhhhhhhhhh#frightening on paper#in reality i don't get the impression I'm an especially difficult patient?#i'm not easy for sure like i'm not one of those young people just doing therapy for personal growth everyone loves having for a light case#but like. i haven't needed a safety plan in almost a decade#i have a detailed understanding of what kind of care to ask for and how to give useful feedback to my provider#i have a lot of effective coping strategies#that's all just.....sort of hard to tell from my intakes#especially because i have all the hallmarks for SEVERE risk except for....you know....the actual risk#like i am a severely depressed person with emotional regulatory issues#panic attacks; suicidality/self-harm history; impulsivity as avoidance; rock bottom ADLs; no social support system; etc#i just.....have simply decided not to die?#so i'm not suicidal anymore and have little to no risk of becoming so again barring like. major physical health concerns#but god#if *I* saw my chart come down the pipeline as a prospective case I'd be like....please god not me#not this time i beg of you#my caseload has enough clients I have to sleep for an hour after meeting with#i don't need another#so like. when therapists tell me they will not be able to accept me as a patient due to my paper record#i'm not offended or upset#it makes sense#it's just also not great for me because the quality of care one gets at places that don't ALLOW therapists to veto clients is....bad#and yes that has happened before more than once#it's why I typically only see mental health care providers A) through my primary care office or B) through a local hospital#historically standalone mental health clinics won't see me as a patient and independent private practice is a toss up

ocd voice And also you should spend some time wondering if this is a manic episode induced by strattera or if you’re just kind of naturally Like This
#strattera is so fucking weird btw#snris i guess don’t interact with dopamine and therefore don’t count as stimulants but they basically have stimulant side effects???#txt#anyway we don’t actually have bipolar we had a really weird last november that our psychiatrist declined to unpack#and we don’t even feel glowy like we did then we just feel like we have to fix our entire life but are also making objectively shit progress#towards that goal#<- See like we could keep going and it would maybe be a pretty convincing profile of someone who is at least a little manic but that’s like#cherry picked data selected to support a bias#we might just be riding the emotional high of going to the mall. tbh.#if this IS mania mania fucking sucks. we’re not even getting the like savior delusions lavender had for all of october and november which#at least provided some kind of narrative arc to the whole thing and nice symbolism on top of it#but we’re like not happy and we’re definitely not accomplishing much so i don’t think. this is mania#(insert even longer digression about whether we secretly want to have bipolar etc etc collecting mental illnesses)#if you actually read all of these for some godforsaken reason hi!!!

As educator and philosopher Nel Noddings put it, "The student is infinitely more important than the subject matter." Noddings pioneered the idea of an "Ethics of care" in education, i.e. the responsibility of recognizing the needs of others and addressing those needs with competence, responsiveness, and respect.
It seems obvious to say, but the goal of education and educational structures should be learning. Used responsibly, attendance can be a tool to support equity-- if students are repeatedly missing class, that's an opportunity to reach out to them, ask if there are unseen obstacles to their learning (cf. Devon Price's Laziness Does Not Exist), and work with students to help address them if so.
When attendance itself becomes the goal, rather than a structure to support learning, something's gone wrong.
When I say “school should be disability accessible”, I don’t just mean we need handicap rails and EAs. Kids should be able to miss a day without failing out of school. You shouldn’t be dismissed from clubs because your attendance record is “spotty” (true story). I once missed an entire week of school because of a terrible, unending migraine. I was expected to keep up with my studies despite the blinding pain that came with working on my computer. When I heard my teachers say that you couldn’t miss exams, I asked what I would have to do to be excused from them. Their response? “Either get a doctor’s note an hour before the exam or death of an immediate family member.”
I cannot express how rigid this expectation was. First of all, with my condition, I wouldn’t have enough warning about my sickness to go to the doctor and request a note. For many people, this is exceptionally difficult, especially with the current shortage of medical professionals. Next, it ignores the fact that my schedule may not line with theirs because of my medical needs. Once, I had to visit a hospital a province away (which I was on the waiting list of for over a year) on the same day as an exam. I begged my mother not to take me because I was so nervous that I would be marked as an automatic fail. I was lucky enough to make it work, but that’s only because of my spectacular support system consisting of family members and wonderful doctors.
Disabilities aren’t always about needing a bus that can accommodate wheelchairs. It’s already difficult enough for many of us to maintain school attendance without the harsh punishments involved for skipping a day. We need to be able to miss school without being punished. Only than can you claim that the school is “accessible”
#there is a 102-level discussion here about what an ethics of care asks of the carer#offering meaningful and individualized support is work! it is important and impactful work but work nonetheless#one can ask how much of this falls to the individual and how much of it should be structural and systematic#that we don't just rely on individuals to provide exceptional care#but we build safety nets and institutions centered on care#so that this labor is shared and doesn't just fall on individual educators (who especially if they are junior are vulnerable themselves)#you're extremely right op. there is no inclusion without accessibility#what might an educational system look like that centered care over punishment? i argue it's closer than we think#i ran discussions with tas about equitable and research-based teaching practices for two years#there is a growing vision of education that is progressive and compassionate (and more effective than the conservative dogma!)#but it is inchoate and often held to a higher standard than the 'old ways'#we need administrators who share this vision and support staff to make it possible#we need parents and students onboard#and we need inspired and progressive educators who are willing to prioritize care#i see it coming. it's closer than you think. but there's still much work to be done#for additional reading see: radical hope (gannon); pedagogy of the oppressed (freire); inclusive teaching (hogan and sathy)

SAG-AFTRA IS STRIKING AGAIN
This time, for video games.
Some key information:
They are striking so all performers will have protection against AI
The struck companies are those signed to the Interactive Media Agreement
The listed companies by SAG-AFTRA include Activision Productions Inc, Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc, Electronic Arts Productions Inc, Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc, Llama Productions LLC, Take 2 Productions Inc, VoiceWorks Productions Inc and WB Games Inc. Though this may not be everyone.
Important things from the FAQ:
Some games from struck companies are non-struck (due to the Collective Bargaining Agreement still being in effect)
Localisations will be affected if covered under the Interactive Localization Agreement
Actors who are part of SAG-AFTRA cannot work for non-union or independent/low-budged productions during the strike unless they are signed to an Interim Interactive Media Agreement, Interim Interactive Localization Agreement or a Tiered-Budget Independent Interactive Media Agreement
Similarly to the previous strike, struck work cannot be promoted. This includes accepting awards for performances in struck games. This does NOT include hosting/performing a skit at an awards show and San Diego Comic Con (the latter due to the close proximity to the calling of the strike)
As implied by the point above, SAG-AFTRA performers cannot partake in panels related to struck games or companies, including finished games produced by struck companies
The best way to check if a game is struck is to use the search tool provided by SAG-AFTRA
Most importantly: You are NOT being asked to stop playing video games, as highlighted in the FAQ for creators and streamers. This does NOT cross the picket line. Though please do talk about the strike and show your solidarity
I expect to see the same amount of support from y'all that we saw in the last strike. Just because it's video games doesn't mean performers deserve any less support and protection.
Also please reblog with any additions (with sources - we are NOT here to spread misinformation)! And please correct me if anything listed here is incorrect.
