Eyes are the most sensitive part our body. Taking care of your eyes is important to maintain quality of your life. Neglecting this will lead to eye disease such as cataract, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Here are some tips about how to take care of your eyes:
Wear Sunglasses- Wear sunglasses while going out as ultraviolet rays can damage you eyes and increase the risk of eye condition such as cataracts. Healthy Diet- Antioxidants reduce the risk of cataracts so include food in your diet which are rich in antioxidant, such as, fruits rich with vitamin A and C as well as green leafy vegetables and fish as it contains omega 3 fatty acid which are important for health of macula. Quit Smoking- Smoking damages the eye muscles and blood vessels which carries the blood and nutrients to all parts of the body and increase the risk of eye diseases. Give rest to your eyes while working in front of electronic screen- The continuous working in front of computer is giving major stress to eyes. The constant staring at the screen of computer without blinking will lead to dry eyes, headache, blurry vision. To avoid this, take a break in every 20 minutes and look away from the computer screen at 20 feet for 20 seconds. Exercise Regularly- Exercise improves the blood circulation of the body. This helps in increasing the oxygen levels to the eyes and helps in removal of toxins. Good Night’s Sleep- Take proper sleep at night as your eyes need it so that they can function properly without being dry or red.
