ESCAPING INTO A SHIP
So what exactly made me latch onto the Sydcarmy ship like a leech on a water buffalo?
Tumblr media
It was unexpected (for me)! Yes, the very first meeting between Syd and Carm did make an impact. I thought "Oooh, what's this?!" However, Carmy was/is such a mess that I quickly dismissed it. And Sydney just seemed to want his professional approval and a partner in making something great after the soul-crushing failure of Sheridan. So, the first season I personally didn't feel a mutual sexual/romantic tension, more like an automatic respect and shared goals/passions. Sydney nor Carm were obviously trying to flirt. Most slow burns on TV are 100% obvious like a Jeanine and Gregory (Abbott Elementary), Nick and Jess (New Girl), Jake and Amy (Brooklyn 99), Jim and Pam (The Office)...Until Braciole Ep. 8 that is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S. 1 Episode 8- I won't get into everything but Carmy was desolate. Yes, he became a psycho chef and two people quit in Ep.7. However, he mourned Sydney more than Marcus. She was in his flashback/nightmare (?), then the way he told Tina that she looked like Syd (the poor pup), him texting her before opening the note from Mikey, and finally the most gorgeous locked gaze scene since Pride and Prejudice (2005). The soft lighting, the music, the colors, the mind-reading...magical. I still didn't get it initially. Silly, blind me.
Tumblr media
Mentorship where??? Season 2 Carm and Syd's "mentorship" dynamic is pretty much over. They are true partners and spending more time together. They're dressing alike even when not in uniform, finishing each other's sentences or talking in unison. Sydney is opening up more of herself and Carm is asking to know more. They use the ASL sign for sorry with each other and no one else until ep 10. Then there's that locker scene in ep. 1 or 2, when they almost hang out just cause. However, Carmy misses the moment and there's the return of the kicked pup face. Before being on the ship I was delighted with all of their scenes and was looking forward to the food tour. They just ROCK together on screen.
Tumblr media
Classic Love Triangle- Who's Claire? She's "Claire Bear", the prototypical "cool girl", who is willing to chase an socially awkward, wrong-number-giving man, despite being a pretty ER resident with no shortage of options. Did a CW writer get hired? Anyways, why was her presence used almost exclusively to put strain on Carmy and Sydney's relationship instead of The Bear generally? We could have had scenes with Nat, Richie, and Marcus arguing with Carmy about him being distracted due to Claire. They saved 99% of that for Sydney. They CHOSE to insert her in between or just after scenes with him and Claire. Showing Sydney's tattoos and her getting dressed with the stained chef's coat juxtaposed with them was WILD.
Tumblr media
I LOVE that both believe their interpersonal problems are solely about The Bear/business partnership. In most "slowburns" the characters are far more conscious and actively work to keep things platonic. Jeremy might be a smidge aware that Sydney means more to him after the panic attack, but I bet he's shoved it down. All he knows afterward is that being with Claire feels wrong hence ignoring her call and recommitting to SYDNEY. He could of said "You all/This/The Bear deserve my full focus etc..." He was also nagged into greeting Claire at Friends and Family, seemed anxious when Fak brought her up right before The Table scene, and also while explaining that "she's great" to Sydney. He was at peace when focused on Sydney in the moment below.
Tumblr media
The actors: Jeremy and Ayo's real life friendship is warms my soul and their chemistry onscreen is amazing. DON'T WASTE IT!!!
Tumblr media
Jeremy smolders on screen. I want to see Carmy continue to stare, yearn, fall, then eventually confess and for Sydney to reciprocate his feelings. Anyhoo, does anyone else melt when Carm means business?! They do this twice in season one and it's not good for me. Whew, I need to clean my whole house or run a few miles.
Tumblr media
Finally, there's so many other parallels between these two. They are fearful avoidants, have a missing or dead parent, jacked up stomachs, use sarcasm, but are generally very earnest, they struggle with anxiety, are compassionate, are perfectionists, peace-makers, give people multiple chances, are workaholics...so much more. A lot of that is also ME, lol.
Tumblr media
Sydcarmy is my Roman Empire. I love them as much as you can fictional characters and they deserve the most tender, angsty, triumphant, romantic best-friends to more love story.

Moments on Film: Carmy and Sydney’s Michelin Star Talk
Tumblr media
This is another one of my favorite scenes between Carmen and Sydney. It’s in S2E2, and they are at his apartment, working on the new menu.
Sydney asks Carmy about the moment he got the 3 Michelin stars call when was the CDC at the restaurant in New York, the highest honor for any restaurant in the world.
What struck me about this scene, apart from the playful banter into this moment, was how Carmy immediately gushes out his answer after Sydney asks him this question. She’s genuinely interested and, literally, a little star struck, and he in turn seems like he’s so unburdened to finally be able to talk to someone about this major moment in his life.
We know that when Carmy was the CDC at Eleven Madison Park, he was horribly abused on a daily basis by his boss, the Executive Chef. Carmy had the completely arduous task of leading the kitchen while under extreme duress, and to such a degree that he was able to retain the highest honor in his industry. The stress of it all we know, made him physically sick, everyday. We also know at this time, Michael wasn’t speaking to him, and it’s unlikely his family understood what he was going through in this moment. He was going through monumental highs and lows, without any support, and completely alone.
He probably has never had the chance to process it or think about it, let alone talk about it.
When Carmy comes home for Christmas in the flashback of S2E6, we see almost everyone, and especially his mom, give him guff and make fun of him for being a “big time chef….too fancy for us.” Carmy was in Copenhagen at the time and not in New York yet, but he’s going through exciting, transformative, life changing moments which no one in his family bothers to ask about or talk to him about. It must have been incredibly painful to not only not be able to share and talk about it, but to be made fun of for it, instead of being told, “good job”, which, as he shares in S1E8, was one thing he wanted to hear from his brother, so badly.
Sydney asks him about his experience because she genuinely wants to listen to him speak about this moment. She doesn’t just ask what it was like, she asks him, “how did it feel?” He immediately pours out his answer in such a way that made me think, my gosh, probably no one has ever asked him about it before. It’s terribly sad that until now no one has cared enough to show interest, and it must have made him feel so lonely to not be able to express himself or what this moment meant to him.
Now Sydney is here though, and she allows him the space in this moment to be vulnerable and heard. His answer perhaps isn’t what she thought it would be, but it’s honest.
Sydney understands the high level of the restaurants where Carmy has worked and what he has achieved professionally, and she admires him for it. She also understands on a much deeper level because he unknowingly fed her while he was the CDC in New York and she was his guest. Sydney’s eaten Carmy’s 3 Michelin star award winning food, and it was the best meal she’s ever had. He just doesn’t know it yet.
In S1E2, when the staff is cleaning the kitchen and Carmy mentions Noma, Marcus says “Noma’s the shit, huh?” Both Carmy and Sydney say “the best”, at the exact same time.
In terms of being understood, this contrasts starkly with Carmy’s conversation with Claire in another kitchen—the kitchen of the party house in S2E5. She mentions he was in France, he gently corrects her and says Copenhagen. She says, “go to Noma?”, he says, “worked at Noma.” Claire says, “I heard it’s alright” and he responds with “it’s pretty good”. This exchange stuck out to me when I first heard it. Is she sarcastically joking about Noma being just “alright”, or does she not know about its exceptional reputation? Either way she doesn’t ask Carmy any questions about it and then changes the subject.
After Carmy tells Sydney about his Michelin star call and the moment that immediately followed when he had to prepare to serve the U.N. Security Council, his face holds onto the memory of the moment and you can see it felt so good for him to express himself and talk about it. He probably hasn’t thought about it in a long time. He looks reflective and dare I say, proud. He then looks at Sydney, and they smile at each other. It’s quick, but he looks so grateful to her for allowing him to talk about this moment and also that she really, truly listened.
It’s these sweet little moments between the two of them that really make an impact because in these moments, they allow each other to share experiences that only a few people in the world would actually understand. Just like their sign language, the way they understand each other creates a form of communication and expression that is just between them.
I don’t think she realizes it, but Sydney asking Carmy this question, and by genuinely listening to and caring about his answer, she fed and nourished a part of him that had been starved for so long, just like he fed her.

Richie did the right thing (in the end)
I bet ALL MY MONEY that I have in my wallet and in the bank right now, plus all of the money I'm gonna make from now till S4 premiers or 3B or whatever Storer throws my way that Richie went to his dark side and back. HE THOUGHT ABOUT STICKING IT UP CARMY'S ASS (the previous scene was the fight he had with Carmy in the BOH) but ENDED UP DOING THE RIGHT THING, not for Carm but for Sydney.
And outta respect, because:
Tumblr media
You can quote me on this one when they win the Star. Go for it.
Tumblr media
A fork on the floor, and sometimes a purse, in restaurant code, means that a Michelin inspector is in tha house.
I'm 200% sure that he did pick up that fork and gently picked up that bag for the lady as well, and kissed her ass while doing it, like the respectful Maître d’ he is now (after Carmy gave him the chance to find that purpose and BTW let's not forget that Richie met Jess on that occasion too, so not just professional purpose).
There's a reason why Storer named the Richie-centered ep FORKS last season. Foreshadowing at its finest. He was setting the stage for this very moment. There was gonna come a day when that fork on the floor was gonna be the Batsignal for Richie and he was gonna be Batman. But he was gonna doubt. It wasn't gonna be squeaky clean. It wasn't for Carmy, HE DID THE RIGHT THING FOR SYD AT THE END, AFTER THINKING ABOUT LETTING THE BEAR CRASH AND BURN, of course. But not on his watch.
Basically, Richie got them the bullshit star by picking up that fork. Believe you me.
Remember to follow my tag #Gingerpovs 💋

Random headcanons I made for HSS characters because they seem like they fit + I feel silly (these are very long and might go into essay length territory)(also ongoing as HSS is my obsession):
✧˚ Michael Harrison is a passenger princess. At least with my MC Solrin. I mean c'mon, he may have a car- but he's born to be on a motorcycle, he doesn't know how to drive a car for shit, he's the biggest passenger princess ever and my MC has a cute little pink tiara taped to the top of 'his' headrest, as a tease since he barely drives and always calls shotgun.
✧˚ Caleb likes to match clothes with his SO. Even if his SO is wearing the prettiest princess like dress or are wearing plaid with stripes with loafers on- he's matching them. Always. Even accessories, he just likes matching.
✧˚ Scott, the man, the legend, the dad himself- he is fucking loaded with cash. He is RICH. His train models are so good they bring in FARRR too much money to deal with. Hence why his daughter Solrin casually has a vintage 1963 dodge dart with customisation in 2018. HOWEVER, he likes to keep his daughter humble so they own a basic suburban house and he made his daughter get a job for her own money.
✧˚ Maria wakes up to cats on her every morning. Since she owns 2 cats now after adoption, they're heavily attached to her and sleep on her when it's bed time. Sometimes they do biscuits on her stomach and lay all their weight on her chest in the middle of the night which wakes her up because she can't breathe and also it's a weird sensation. She also definitely has cat hair on her socks sometimes.
✧˚ Aiden definitely sorts his clothing in his closet or clothes drawer via random things such as colour, texture, if it has print, and also what type of clothing it is. I just feel like he does, however he'll just throw his shoes in the fucking abyss when he gets home and will just know where it is. Which is why he hates it when his room gets cleaned because his shoes, despite being wherever, are usually always put in the same messy spot so he knows where it is- so when his room is cleaned he doesn't know where his bunny slippers are. #me
✧˚ Emma has a large pain tolerance but her tolerance with foods of weird textures and strong flavours are very low. She could break her leg and be fine, but if she has spicy octopus on her plate she's going to either cry or refuse to eat that shit at all. Which is a pain for Julia, but I mean Emma can't help it- some food is weird and she doesn't vibe with it. #me
✧˚ Michael is fucking terrified of thunder and lightning, to the point he quivers at seeing dark grey clouds. The loud sounds get to him, and he hates it. He has to cuddle his doggie Rollie in his bed and blast music through his headphones to get through them.
✧˚ Caleb takes it personally when he doesn't get to hug anybody. He's a cuddle bug, he loves his friends and his LI, so being denied a hug from anyone when they do something good like ace a test makes him sad.
✧˚ Sydney once stared at a kaleidoscope for an hour straight when she was in the nurses office because she hurt herself during cheer practice, and the school nurse didn't even need to do anything like talk to her or anything, other than patching her up, Sydney remained silent and staring at the glorious colourful light.
✧˚ Morgan was 'obsessed' with Joan Of Arc, Gretchen from Mean Girls, and most of the main girls in most kids shows in middle school, and this was before she knew what the term "Lesbian" meant.
✧˚ during freshmen year, Maria was obsessed with the business casual aesthetic so much, she wore full on blazers and button ups and looked super duper professional. Until everyone in her year had to remind her that this was freshmen year and she could dress up like a cat girl and no one would care.

I've officially started making money from my debut novel, Sydney West!
For those who are new here - I'm a self-published author, mainly because of things I know about the traditional publishing industry. Particulars when it comes to agent behavior, publishing house exploitation, and the rise of cost-cutting using AI trained on art theft and violation of intellectual properties.
I'm Blackbird Parlor and Whiskey Terra Foxtrot because I refuse to dilute my work simply to make it "palatable" or to make corporations money they can use to exploit other people, to make more money. I went full-time in my storefront after being targeted for union-busting by a manager who knew I have PTSD, and used it against me + threatened all my coworkers and got them to throw me under the bus.
I've also been threatened with litigation from a previous manager, because of my disabilities making my job with him not a good fit, and he lied to court that I had lied about having disabilities (involving a bit of classism and "I don't see how a middle class suburban --" you get the picture. Then he admitted he lied to court and I submitted his emails to them lol).
I cannot work for anyone else anymore. I can with with, but the "for" is something I'm simply not capable of. It's not "doesn't play nicely," but that I don't fuckin play.
But back to Sydney West. Every cent put toward publishing came out of my own pocket. Every bit of formatting, cover design, and the majority of the editing (I occasionally luck into existing acquaintances being revealed as industry professionals who are into indie work, but that's another post entirely) is also my work.
And because of your support, that's come back to me, so I can finally start working on paying bills with my work.
This is my full-time career, and I've had to be clever about it. Even in viewing myself in the same field as other artists of various types, I'm still... different. In a lot of ways.
Thanks for helping me realize that's not so bad.
if novels are in your media of choice, you can hit the link above and find an indie bookstore that can get you Sydney West, or you can currently order it directly through me, here:

Hiring a Professional House Cleaner
A Professional House Cleaner is a person or company that performs thorough cleanings of homes. They usually work for a cleaning company, or they may be self-employed. They come to a home and clean according to the schedule set by the homeowner.
Whether you need a one-time cleaning or ongoing regular services, hiring a Professional House Cleaner will save you time and money. Besides, they are trained professionals who are dedicated to delivering high-quality results.
You should consider the size and layout of your home, and your budget before deciding on the type of service you need. If your home is small, a simple one-time deep cleaning might be all that's necessary. If your home is larger, more frequent cleanings will be required.
The number of bedrooms can also affect the cost of a cleaning. If you have more than three bedrooms, the cleaners will probably have to do more cleaning in each room. This could increase the overall cost of your cleaning service, so you might want to negotiate with them about this.
It's best to discuss your priorities with the cleaning service provider before they arrive at your home and make sure that they understand what's most important to you during the service. This way, you can ensure that the service is done right and you are satisfied with the results.
Having a detailed cleaning checklist is also helpful in ensuring that the cleaners have all of the information they need to do their jobs properly. You can also use this as a guide to help them determine how much work they should do and how long it will take.
Your cleaning checklist should include all of the usual tasks like vacuuming, dusting, mopping, making beds and emptying trash cans. It should also list any special requirements that need to be met.
If you have pets, you should also be sure that your cleaning company has a policy for the safety of your pets while they're in your home. You should also ask if the cleaning company will provide food and water to your pet during their visit, as well as if they will keep them in an enclosed area until the cleaning is over.
A great cleaning company will train their employees to know how to properly clean all surfaces, apply different kinds of cleaning solutions, and do so quickly and thoroughly. You should find that most professional house cleaners are very knowledgeable and skilled in their job, and you'll feel confident letting them into your home.
You can also request that the cleaning company bring their own supplies and equipment to your home, if you prefer that. This is a common practice in the industry and is an easy way to save money.
Besides, the cleaning company should also be able to provide a comprehensive insurance policy that will cover damage to personal items and injuries that might occur on your property. This will give you peace of mind while allowing the cleaner to focus on what they do best: bringing your home to a shine.
Pro Service in NSW is a professional cleaning service. Our fully insured cleaners can assist you with commercial & house cleaning services.

Tips To Make Your Painting Project A Success
Interior painting Sydney is an important topic that can add great looks to your home making it a lovable paradise for your family to live in. Here are a few simple tips to make your upcoming painting mission a big success. You will find these tips very useful whether you are painting a single wall or your entire home.
Tumblr media
Choose a dry weather for your painting mission
Humidity can lead to problems like dripping and slow drying. Therefore, it is never advisable to paint on a rainy day. However, if there is no other option than planning the project during such a time, take enough time and invest in slow-drying paint for correcting the errors before you move on to the next coat of painting. Remember that overworking in this regard is sure to show up after you have completed the task.
Prepare well and do a thorough visual inspection
Do an initial preparation very well. This is perhaps the most important step to get the best results. Focus on the cracked, peeling or flaking areas and sand or scrap the area also giving a thorough rinse before getting started with the new painting task. This is because the weight of the primer or paint you are using can pull down the older paint to loosen.
If you do not focus enough on this step, you will end up wasting your precious time and money. You must also attend to greasy spots by washing with a soap and rinsing with clean water. Also, wiping down with clean and damp cloth will leave a clean and dust-free surface for the paint to stick on.
Good quality brushes, painter’s tape and roller covers are important
If you are particular about investing in a great paint, you must not neglect the importance of going for the best quality brushes, roller covers and painter’s tape. These accessories will ensure that you will accomplish the task neatly and perfectly without having to repaint. A good painter’s tape will help sealing out the blurs and drips.
Protect those things that you do not want to paint
Before beginning your painting project, you will have to give enough focus on covering the floors, furniture and hardware. Drop cloths are never an option, but mandatory. To protect the door knobs, use small plastic sandwich bags and secure them with tapes.
Box the paint
Consult an interior painting Sydney company to get an estimate of how much paint you will need for the project. After making a rough estimate of the quantity, it is always better to get a large container and mix up all the different smaller units and mix them up thoroughly. This process known as boxing can ensure consistency across the painting mission in terms of color and finish.
It pays to use professional painting services
It really pays to use professional interior painting Sydney services to paint your house. They have the right knowledge, processes, tools and strategies to minimize the spending and maximize the outcome. So, find out the best painting services in your area and ask for a quote.

Private Chefs Sydney: Revolutionizing Weeknight Dinners for Busy Families
In today's fast-paced world, time feels like the most difficult thing to come by. Between demanding work, school activities, and all of the daily chores, imagining that you have time to prepare a delicious and home-cooked meal every evening can feel like an impossible task. For many families, weeknight suppers are rushed affairs, often reduced to ordering takeout or eating from pre-packaged meals that lack the affection, nutrition, and connection of a well-carefully thought-out dish.
Enter Private Chefs Sydney—modern solutions for busy families that refuse to compromise on quality, taste, and the joy of sharing a meal together. Whether enhancing everyday dining or impressing guests when hosting an event in your home, private chefs deliver a customized culinary experience to revolutionize the way you experience meals while saving precious time.
Tumblr media
The Rising Trend of Private Chefs in Sydney
Private chefs aren't exclusive anymore to a limited few or special galas. These days, the demand for private chefs increases as people in Sydney who value convenience, personal touch, and superior food appreciate that these professionals can deliver the luxury of restaurant-style food right into your place and easily within your reach while maintaining the ease of convenience that comes with not even leaving your house.
Besides, setting them apart from traditional establishments such as restaurants or take-away services is their magnificent personal fit-for-you experience: everything from personalized menu design regarding your tastes or dietary requirements to delivery and presentation pales in comparison to that of delivery services. Thus, they complete your experience.
Why Busy Families Need Private Chefs
It can be really taxing for some families to prepare healthy yet delectable meals because they have to balance juggling household responsibilities with juggling family responsibilities. Hiring a personal chef would only relieve the stress of providing your family with balanced meals, wholesome-sounding but delicious, every day without a headache from planning, shopping, cooking, or cleaning.
The benefits of hiring a personal chef most especially come in for families who love to entertain or organize events often. They can elevate your parties into a tone of elegance and care, memories long after the meal that will stay with your guests.
How Private Chefs Make Dinners Extraordinary
Private chefs in Sydney go beyond cooking; they help craft dining experiences shaped around your family and lifestyle. Here is how they change weeknight dinners and many more:
Customized Menus for Every Palate: As far as diet goes, they say that the people involved are all from the same family. What is the matter? Whether your family likes American, Indian, or Italian, some private chefs create comfort food or even a plant-based diet menu, which can finally be bestowed to everyone.
High-Quality Ingredients: Private chefs work with the freshest and finest ingredients to ensure the dishes created are not only delicious but also nutritious. They source from seasonal as well as sustainable produce to elevate the care and responsibility of meals.
Stress-Free Dining: One of the significant advantages of hiring a private professional chef is that the whole burden of stress is taken away. As they only plan menus, shop, and prepare meals, they take care of everything. After the meal, they even clean up the kitchen completely.
Creating Memorable Events at Home
Private chefs are indeed the secret ingredient to successful hosting events. Whether it's an intimate dinner party, family celebration, or holiday festivity, a private chef makes an event extraordinary.
A Personalized Touch: A private chef creates that particular menu for your event, where every dish works in harmony with the theme, atmosphere, and preferences of your guests.
Interactive Experiences: Some private chefs even provide meal preparations by inviting guests to take part in the cooking demonstration. It becomes a rather fun part of the gathering.
Effortless Hosting: As the private chef takes care of the cooking part, you can happily spend your event connecting with guests without having any of the usual worries about cooking or serving.
Tumblr media
Balancing Nutrition with Convenience
Private chefs provide a sensible and ideal balance between nutrition and convenience to families with health and fitness needs. They make sure the meals prepared to suit individual diets; for example, gluten-free, low-carb, and allergen-free, are still kept flavorful and varied. The personalization ensures that the family will enjoy their balanced and scrumptious meals according to family wellness goals, all while relieving you from the boredom and guessing of preparing such meals.
Everyday Dining, Elevated
Private chefs serve not only grand occasions; they are versatile and do well in every other daily dining. Wonder walking in after a long day to find a meal beautifully prepared just for you, although your family knows how the food is flavored just for them? This kind of gracious service is more than merely a time saver; it is an enhancer of your living quality by making even the most uninteresting but daily moments become enjoyable memories.
Are Private Chefs Cost-Effective?
Private chefs have been considered one of those luxurious services, yet they can sometimes prove economical for families that find themselves eating out or ordering takeout regularly. For most people, though, the personalization of having quality meals prepared in your home outweighs all costs, particularly when you think of the time saved and overall experience.
Most private chefs offer many flexible cooking arrangements, from single-serving meals to regular services, making it easier to choose one to suit your budget.
Building a Trusted Culinary Relationship
Becoming a private chef means more than being a provider of services within time makes your family through the cooking journey. These chefs have the potential to learn from your preferences in terms of taste and predict what you want while serving stunning meals.
