Eddie’s got a stutter. It comes out when he’s anxious or stressed, makes him trip over certain syllables and work to get his words out.

Eddie’s got a stutter. Not many people in Hawkins know that, and none of the Party do at all.

Why would they? He trained himself out of it soon after he moved there, way before he met any of them. The only people who know are Wayne (because he's the first person who never rushed Eddie) and the guys in Corroded Coffin (there's one night during Eddie's second senior year that none of them talk about.)

Wayne doesn’t talk to most people, and the Corroded Coffin guys keep Eddie’s secrets, just like he keeps theirs.

(If he thinks about it too long, Eddie gets a little misty-eyed at how lucky he is to have them.)

Eddie's mostly good about the stutter. He's good about realizing which words he'll stutter over and swerving to avoid them. He's good about keeping it under control. He's good about playing it off when it does come up. 

It’s a delicate dance, one that needs a good vocabulary and improv skills. Eddie’s got both in spades.

So, no one knows. Because no one has seen him stressed enough to not pay that constant attention to keeping his words smooth, to grasping for another word if his next one is going to give him trouble.

Until he wakes up in the hospital after the bats attempted to eat him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and can't get any words out. 

Steve and Dustin, who were sitting in the chairs beside the bed, start freaking out. Eddie's trying to tell them it's not a head injury or any weird Upside Down shit, but he can't get the words out.

Dustin is talking about traumatic brain injuries, and Steve is looking at him with a way too knowing look in his eyes - they should unpack that later - and Eddie is trying to tell them to slow down but nothing is coming out.

Until Wayne comes in, and Eddie just stops trying and looks at him.

It’s like he’s a kid again, freshly new to Hawkins, and Wayne thought he was mute for two weeks because every time Eddie tried to talk, he couldn’t do it right, not really, so he gave up trying at all.

Wayne didn’t. And Wayne waited, which was more than anyone else did.

Now, Wayne just puts his hand on Eddie’s shoulder, just like he used to, and says, "breathe." 

The words come a little easier after that.

lol told myself not to procrastinate in finishing my secret st waidwen gift, but guess what your girl did? i mean, i'll have it done in time, but it would've been much less stressful to not write the bulk of it in a day.

though to be fair, i guess i've really been outlining and revising in my head the whole time i wasn't putting pen to paper. anyway, really nervous if my recipient will like it or not.

Belated (very belated <.<) STS!

I've not been writing much because I have written myself into a corner, and needed time to plot my way out of it- which I have now successfully done!

I was in a bit of a funk recently with my writing, but after having a great chat with @queen-tashie last week, I think I've managed to break through my own blocks and I smashed out a 1k scene!

I've actually been in the mood to not just write, but to also edit- which for me is a massive win!

I'm fully aware of the novel I'm supposed to be rewriting. I know I said I'd have it done by June 30th and it's officially July 1st. I know I'm only 14/32 chapters in and I've spent a week on the same chapter.

But you remember that mega fic for that other fandom? The one I didn't update in almost two years? Well, that's what I want to work on.

So please stop opening the novel thing when I click on your shortcut.

And maybe when your story is finished you'll write your version of Reasons for Living by Michael7123. Because it would be good to read the story where Andy tries to redeem himself. And how do you think it would look if Danny was also alive but he is on Carver's side but he would never allow anyone to hurt his brother especially Carverm even if they are on the opposite side.

I don't think I'd be interested in a story like that. Not because it's a bad idea, but because I need to have a lot of inspiration to work on a long-form story. That's why I prefer to focus on my own ideas and concepts for longer stories.

It'd be an interesting dichotomy. I can't really see Danny and Andy working against each other since they seem like a very close-knit family, but I guess a lot can change in two years.

☀️ Remus' appearance:

- he's tall

- he's not obviously muscular beneath his lovely grandpa jumpers and corduroys but he has purposeful strength, built from years of manhandling his *ahem* conquests, which is something Sirius capitalises on every chance he gets

- he's got freckled olive skin and his scars stand out against them, especially the one on his thighs and back

- his hair is a mousey brown, a little bit red on the ends where the sun has worked it's hardest. it's super fluffy, not curly but wavy and very dense, short-ish at the sides and longer on the top. very grab-able.

☀️ Sirius' appearance:

- like 5'9/5'10? I don't really imagine him to be super short but he's shorter than Re for sure

- looks mean, is a cinnamon roll. he wears his leather jacket and carries those sweets that look like cigarettes (maybe they're an English thing but they were basically a chalky white stick about the size of a smoke we all used to suck on so it looked like we were smoking until they disintegrated) to act intimidating when he's out alone. it keeps people from talking to him.

- his hair. it's... collarbone length. I used to hc it longer but he's had it cut. it's still pullable and he can put it up but little pieces fall out everywhere. black, of course, to contrast his very pale skin and his very pink cheeks. with strong eyebrows... Levy level eyebrows.

➿ I'm gonna do a couples hc for the random, which is that they constantly forget where they are and end up smooching and cuddling and staring adoringly at each other. food shopping, staff meetings, at traffic lights...
