Captain Bill Seacaster consistently reminded his beloved son that he is to only look out for himself. That in Fabian's world, Fabian should be the only person that matters. Everyone else is to be used as you see fit, even your own father, even your own captain.

Fabian very obviously wanted to do whatever his father told him to do. But he was never very good at caring only about himself, even when he tried really hard to do it. it is simply not his nature to do so.

For him to be rewarded with one of the many people he cares about telling him that her favorite trait of his, the most valuable impact he has on the world, is the way that he takes care of others is an excellent reflection of the character development of Fabian Aramais Seacaster: Son of of Bill Seacaster

I can't believe Yona was so unpopular with the fanbase upon the game's initial release..... Like I love the idea of Sidon x Link fish yaoi too but like it was never gonna happen in canon lol. Female characters are not "getting in the way" of gay fanbase shipping like corporations hate making prominent and active female characters and they hate gay romance even more. Yona is fine, I like her, I like that she has a reasonable head on her shoulders, I like that she has a similar """feminine""" healing magic domain (portrayed as useful) to Mipha but she's a lot more..... independent and active in her personality. I think my biggest complaint is nothing about her personality and everything about the fact that metatextually her character seems tailor-made to be the Perfect Fiancee who has graceful and feminine talents BUT she's independent enough that we don't need to see too much of her before the Boys go on the ACTUAL main quest. Like it's obvious that from a narrative standpoint she's padding and it sucks that another woman got sidelined, on the other hand from what bits of her personality we DO see I think every decision she makes is sensible and she's easily one of the most level-headed and goal-oriented Zora characters. It would've been nice if she was MORE of a character, if anything, but she wasn't, and we can still all draw Link x Sidon BL without like taking it out on a fictional woman

was looking through old posts and i'm surprised to see that i seemingly didn't have any commentary on anything in 3 in chapter 7, 8 or 9, the posts related to 3's story go from "my first reaction when i saw yopple-bot was 'i love you. but also you are definitely the boss for this chapter-'" to "i have been in hell all day. hell being bada-bing tower." funny to me cuz those chapters are like, the best ones sdfkljsdfjfsdkjlfsdjkl-

Just a small question for the mk 2000 au, where would Liu Kang be in all of this? (If there is a post about it, I would love to know ^^)

Haven't mentioned him yet! Since this is mk1 inspired, he's in the older group. I imagine he's taking care of Kung Lao and Raiden (they were briefly mentioned in my last post). I haven't planned much for him in this au as I don't really have someone he can bounce off of. I should figure out a way for him to meet Johnny and his group, they were always fun in the previous timeline (see the 90's mk movie)

I think it'd be kinda funny if this was canon divergence, and he's still Time Keeper he just made everyone an Earthrealmer and he n Geras can just chill lmao

reading springfest now after everything in nagazora is making me crave more fu hua and mei interactions. i feel like thus far in my go through, i've never actually seen them interact, but it's kinda fun that the person who made the recommended reading order put springfest after nagazora (though of course this is probably in preparation for whatevers going on with senti/fu hua rn in ch 19)

but the way that the empyrea isolates herself so she doesn't have any attachment to those who she will outlive and how she winds up becoming lonely as a result threw me back to mei isolating herself in world serpent so that she can protect kiana and just... idk..... i think the two talk about that isolation would be interesting

also. i love fu hua. she's still at the top of my list for best character so i'm just a happy little guy getting more fu hua content now in the story :> yippee fu hua

It was very hard to pick 5 favorite characters (and I did cheat a bit), so I tried to limit myself to characters that I thought people (or at least my followers) were more likely to know and characters that I have loved for at least 10+ years. (Because as much as I think my current blorbos are blorbos "for all time," it is still early days so that could change.)
