WHAT IS UP WITH THE HOGWARTS LEGACY FANDOM?????????????
I am so fucking fed up with this fandom & honestly it makes me lose any desire to post anything here anymore.
So many people here look at EVERYTHING as a damn competition and it’s NOT. It should be a place for people to brainrot together, talk about theories, and enjoy seeing what other people draw and write etc. Have I sometimes felt insecure bc I don’t get as many notes as other people?! Yes of course…but I always focus on the connections and the lovely people I’ve met and like talking to bc that’s why I post in the first place. I didn’t spend 4 months posting my fic to 10 kudos and 1 comment with basically no feedback bc I care about popularity😆😆
I’ve never been part of a fandom before this one but honestly everything feels so immature here, especially lately. Is it NORMAL to send hate to people who interpret the characters differently than you?! Or send hate to people who ship something you don’t like???? Is it NORMAL to start a confessions blog that’s for people to vague post about others & give everyone reading it anxiety??? (And NO, it’s not “leveling the playing field” wtf). Is it NORMAL to be so close minded, that you’re always trying to start shit with other people?!!??
It is SO FUCKING EXHAUSTING & honestly I try my hardest to NOT feed into any negativity and I’ve never posted the hate I’ve gotten because quite frankly, it’s ridiculous.
I genuinely love seeing what all of you post and always try to comment when I have the mental energy, because I love having a sense of community and you’re all very talented.

The tragedy of Revenge of the Sith is not that it was unavoidable. It was so, so very avoidable, up until the last minute, and even beyond then.
Anakin’s choices are what defined the narrative; him choosing differently just once could’ve saved everyone. Anakin had every chance, every reason, every ability not to do what he did. He still did it.
And we can’t stop him. We can’t take those choices away from him, we can’t change them or fix him. We can only watch as he chooses wrong and wrong and wrong, because it’s not our story , it’s his, and it’s already over.
The tragedy of the Prequels was never that they were always going to happen like that. The tragedy is that we could never have stopped them ending like that. They happened a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Nothing could’ve been done to change them. They already happened. Anakin already made them happen.

as both a sukuita and sukuna fan, chapter 268 killed me. at first i thought it was because we finally got another really intimate and highly emotional scene between sukuna and yuuji, and that sukuna chose to die over accepting yuuji's kindness, but now i can't stop thinking about how this entire chapter was such a good character study and a metaphor for one of the most important themes in the story.
in chapter 21, there's a really interesting conversation between junpei and mahito, where junpei disagrees with the quote "the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference." he knows how evil people can be so he chooses to feel indifferent about human suffering instead. mahito's view on this is also really intriguing, especially considering how he is a curse born from the hate people share for each other.
Tumblr media
i could be wrong but it sounds like the basic message here is that deadening yourself to such intense feelings — love or hate — is a type of retaliation for being hurt or consumed by them. which makes me wonder if sukuna had a similar story to junpei, and if that explains how he became what he is.
we know that sukuna wasn't wanted as a child. he was more than likely rejected by both normal society and the jujutsu world. like junpei he was probably treated cruelly or strongly made aware of the many people who hated him. sukuna claimed to know what love is, but i think what he actually understood was the absence of love. he understood maybe what it means to others, but he had never felt or experienced it himself.
which brings me back to junpei's idea that indifference should be the solution. this is kind of the same philosophy sukuna has: he believes in this unshakable hierarchy of strength where the weak should have no right to lament their suffering. his idea was that the strongest were indifferent to suffering, that it's greedy to be lonely because of this. he calls it his "nature" to live in this self-indulgent way that is completely uncaring and selfish.
Tumblr media
but then there's yuuji.
yuuji has been alone for a lot of his life. at the beginning, he doesn't have any really close friends, since even the other occult club members don't know him all that well. his only family was wasuke, who was difficult and pushed people away, including yuuji.
after his grandfather's death, he wanted to do right and fulfill wasuke's request of helping people, to be able to die surrounded by those he cares about. he pretty much gave his life to help other people by accepting responsibility as sukuna's vessel, and shows concern and kindness even to strangers.
he seems the exact opposite of sukuna and he stands for all the things that the king of curses hates... so why is it that someone sukuna considers so weak has so much power over him?
the only one who's really managed to make sukuna rethink his ideas of the world has been yuuji. even sukuna acknowledged that he was affected more by yuuji than anyone else.
Tumblr media
to him, those who challenged him 1000 years ago were "other people." his relationship with yuuji was and always has been so special that even he admits it.
Tumblr media
sukuna mostly strived for indifference his entire life. consuming so many humans was merely a way for him to pass the time until death, as he said, and those tastes were passing and unmemorable for the most part. everything was so unfeeling about the way he made his philosophy sound during his conversation with kashimo, and he couldn't answer as to why he would decide to cross the ages into modern life if his life before had been truly satisfactory. it's like he wasn't even moved to support his own ideals.
but here yuuji is... an annoying brat he called weak and boring, yet every time they fought sukuna looked thrilled and even impressed, though he resented it. and every time yuuji challenged him, sukuna was bothered enough to challenge him right back.
"the opposite of love is indifference." if this is true, sukuna was most likely forced into his indifference due to the fact he was never wanted or loved. but yuuji awakened so many feelings inside of him, too many. living as sukuna's vessel, they shared such a close connection while still opposing each other in every single way. yuuji represented the intense feelings of both love and hate in the way he fought so hard for others while sukuna's own indifference started to break the longer he spent inside of yuuji. he was far more reactive to yuuji than with others, and had even given him special treatment. there were many times he could have killed yuuji or his friends, but he didn't.
yuuji has made it clear that he hates sukuna's indifference to the value of people's lives.
Tumblr media
sukuna's indifference towards life is against everything yuuji believes in but strangely enough, yuuji was still willing to accept sukuna. to not only pity him, but to have genuine empathy and compassion for such a monster as well.
he even says to sukuna that they are the same, despite seeming to be complete opposites of each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to me, yuuji saying that the monster sukuna became was a matter of chance, shows that he understands how indifference cut sukuna off from having a different fate.
there is a vast area of shades between love and hate, unlike the overwhelmingly static state of indifference. yuuji was showing those shades of love and hate to sukuna, telling him that they could live in the mixed shades of both.
and i really wished sukuna chose to coexist with both that love and hate and remain with yuuji. but he was too used to being indifferent and rejected that offer.
i'm really hoping we get to see yuuji's thoughts on this in the next few chapters, because he looked truly disappointed by sukuna's rejection.

Actually you know what, I’m not gonna wait until the poll finishes because you cannot convince me that Sydney and Sirris have a fully good parental relationship-
This isn’t me saying their relationship is fully bad obvi! It’s clear that Sirris cares for Sydney and their well being, but like-
Sirris is openly sex positive to a debatably obsessive(?) intense degree. Sydney, at the start of the game, is not. Sydney works at the shop, despite the fact they’re openly embarrassed by everything. Sydney goes to the Temple routinely, while Sirris just drops them off and barely steps foot inside. Sirris does have some reservations about the Temple and hey, and it’s also the same place where their late partner/Sydney’s other parent was mainly at, which is a whole can of worms that is never overtly talked about.
They clearly love each other, but they (probably) do not talk about stuff beyond a surface level. They’re both treading on very thin ice. What the fuck is going on with them-

I don’t wanna feed into the “bucktommy is purely sexual”, “bucktommy shippers are fetishizers” discourse so this will be the only thing I’ll say about that.
I think it’s incredibly interesting how there’s soooo many posts about bucktommy here on tumblr (and no doubt in other platforms too), there’s sweet wholesome posts, there’s analytical posts about their relationship, there’s headcanons, there’s fanarts and yes, there’s smutty fics too for example.
Yet, the people who are pointing fingers, calling others fetishizers, are the ones solely focused on the sexual content. Bucktommy fans aren’t the ones making their relationship all about sex, the call is coming from inside the house.
Unhinged buddies are the ones choosing to ignore the part of the scene where both characters open up about their rough family histories and, instead, are making it all about a very quick sex joke that was used to lighten the mood. And because they can’t stop at that, they then proceed to say two grown ass queer characters flirting with each other is gross, disturbing, and a reason one of them should get killed off. That’s the real disgusting thing.
This just in, gay people have sex. I know, shocking. They also talk about it, they make jokes about it. It’s almost as if it’s a normal thing- oh wait, it is. In bucktommy’s case, it’s far from being the only facet of their relationship, but it’s still there and it’s not deviant, it’s not disgusting and if it makes you so uncomfortable to think about then maybe that’s something to reflect on.
Touching grass is not enough, y’all need to roll on it like a dog excited to go on a walk. And maybe retake some reading comprehension classes too. Dead serious, grow up.

We ARE going to bring up Captain Amelia. You have good taste! GOOD TASTE I SAY! *aka I just rewatched Treasure Planet and got hit with, "Oh yeahhhhh... that explains a lot!"*
honestly, the Meg/Jasmine/Amelia trifecta tells you 90% about me as a person. (the rest is covered by Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Uranus and, uhhh, I'll stop baring my soul to the world now)
and speaking of Amelia, this is tangential, but like -- there's one Twst comic I have been kicking at for a while where I needed an RSA sports/flight teacher and, uh, well
Tumblr media
someday I will wrangle this stupid comic into coherency and she'll get to make an appearance (in the background of a single panel, half-obscured by a tall hat) (but I will know she's there and that's the important thing)

Ok you know what makes me angry? Why is Allura so mature and humble? She's a daddy's girl only child princess who was set to inherit a flourishing kingdom. Sure, she's well educated and probably elegant and graceful and tactful because that's how she was raised to act for diplomatic reasons but she was also probably spoiled throughout her adolescence. She probably got whatever she wanted whenever she wanted because her family had the resources to give it to her. Who's to say she isn't a spoiled brat who can otherwise act kind and approachable? Even if she isn't a brat, she was still handed her life on a silver platter. She has to learn how to operate and be self sufficient.
When she gets out of that pod, she should be scared. She should be angry. And she deserves to be so. Her father that she relied on for just about everything shoved her into a sleeping pod and suddenly she's awoken by someone who isn't him. Logically, that means he lost. She should be kicking and screaming. She should be having the worst panic attack ever. She should be mourning everyone and everything she's ever known. She should be mourning the status quo that will never again be maintained. She should be mourning the future that can never come to fruition.
She has to figure out life without any system or technology that she's ever relied on. Coran doesn't know how to fix and maintain everything. She's like one of those people that wake up from 10+ year comas and don't understand modern technology. She is my dad who has had the same flip phone since forever and now must figure out how to use a phone with a touch screen.
Every luxury she had as a princess is gone. The castle chef who knew exactly how she liked her food. Her mother's ladies in waiting who told her the castle gossip. Her own ladies in waiting who'd sneak out to festivals and other trivial things with her. The cleaners that arranged her room exactly as she liked it. HER MOM. I don't care if she was a daddy's girl, she still has got to miss her mom.
I feel like she should've had more outbursts. Seeing Keith in the red paladin armor should've made her cry. In fact, all of them should have. The new paladins in their armor is a symbol of a new era- an era without the people she loves. She deserves to scream at the top of her lungs and lock herself in her room and trash something. She should be yelling that life isn't fair. She should be angry. She should be so angry.
I don't care if she's trying to hold it together for the paladins in the show. She's holding together too well. She needs more moments of instability. She needs to grieve. She needs to be tired. She needs to be imperfect.

so… i met miles last night 😭😭
i’m still trying to formulate the words to express how special it was to meet him and how unbelievably lovely he was. i mean, i obviously already knew how lovely he is - but getting to experience it in person is truly something else altogether. he just absolutely radiates good vibes and warmth and truly feels like sunshine in human form ☀️ i also loved that because i tend to be on the quieter side in these situations (after telling him how amazing the show was my brain went pretty blank lol), he actually asked me questions about what songs i’d most enjoyed etc and really engaged with me and also gave me the LOVELIEST hug 🥹
if possible, meeting him has only made me adore and respect him even more than i already did (truly quite an impressive feat), and i just feel so unbelievably grateful to have got to witness the smile on his face when i told him how much i’d loved the show 💖

uhhh something about a kaz having such a thing with the sea and water, and being so obsessed with reaper's barge and drowning and the harbour waters... but he only washes in front of inej, and when he's literally drowning at the ice court he tries to think of jordie and revenge, but instead he thinks of how he hasn't got closure with her. and he ends up buying her a ship and a berth at fifth harbour (which is literally where he crawled out the sea after reaper's barge)– he finally manages to turn all of that anger and grief and obsession into a productive act of love, rather than the destructive ones he's been pursuing all this time. and from that, inej gets to hunt and destroy the slavers and their ships that took her, to call the storm that she wanted. the sea ends up morphing from a threat and a restriction, to something more like freedom; for them individually, and for them as a couple. Inej's last POV line is her heart was a river that carried her to the sea. there's hope; they'll get to the same place someday, even if it's not today. I'm going to go and kick a wheelie bin over

i think it would make sense for Kendra to be a really good gardener like. she has fairy magic and the fairies are epic gardeners. so maybe one day Kendra gets a potted plant as like a gift or whatever and then the next week its growing and flowering like crazy. i just think that would be neat yaknow

tentatively putting my thoughts into the tag. for context i am an anime-only watcher but i've been really, really enjoying the mage exam arc and i was definitely a little surprised to find out that this arc has a lot of people frustrated!
one of the strengths of this arc, i think, is seeing how frieren interacts with characters and personalities we've not seen her encounter before. fern and stark are both relatively placid as people; they're generally content to go along with what frieren says.
lawine and kanne are two very strong personalities that frieren initially doesn't know how to deal with at all! they have a whole thing going on and frieren's choice is to. not handle it at all. rather, she spends much of her time quietly observing the two of them until she can speak with each of them individually and figure them out, just a bit. she really struggles to get a grasp on the situation until she does that; it's lawine and kanne who are acting first within their team.
then, secondly -- frieren's plan is so. elf with a lot of time to spare. the impact of the time limit is felt so strongly by every human character on the field; everyone is in such a rush! fern's team are stoked they caught a stille so early. the team that attacks them are desperate to steal it asap. after lawine freezes the lake, the other teams are desperately trying to thaw it, for a quick solution.
frieren, though? frieren's solution takes a shitton of time and involves her essentially meditating by a pond for god knows how many hours. it's such a frieren plan; i feel like only someone with a relationship with time like frieren does would come up with it.
tldr; frieren's capacity to form relationships and understand people and her relationship with time are shown off in a really interesting way wrt the way frieren solves the stille problem.
that, and... it seems a bit silly to say this about a show with a certain character in the title but... i do not feel that frieren is exclusively about frieren. it is certainly a story about her adventures but frieren is by no means the only important character! fern is also there! and stark but hes on vacation. so let's talk about fern.
the one fight scene fern has is so unbelieveably crunchy to me bc we learn so much about the world (now) and about the world (part)/frieren's view on magic from it! the girl she fights has really impressive magic; we know that this is generally considered a time of peace, the demon lord is dead, etc. magic is not necessarily a means to an end. i wonder if this means magic has entered a sort of renaissance? a time period after a period of great upheaval, where social structure is thrown out the window and great advances are made in technology, science - and maybe magic!
the way fern uses magic is very indicative of how frieren feels about magic. fern says (that frieren said) that "this is enough to defeat mages of this era", which is so interesting to me bc yes, ofc, fern does win! with her simple magic and full auto fire. but does that automatically mean fern is a better mage? it's complicated...
you hear a lot about the different philosophies of people who use magic in these episodes, and what i'm really interested in seeing is mr war guy meet frieren, bc i think they'd be the most interesting contrast -- a warrior of the past, and a warrior of today.
specifically bc -- frieren is basically a custom-designed warrior. the way she can mask her mana is very specifically designed to be able to weaponised against demons, flamme did that to her very purposefully. the way she's trained fern is also indicative of that; fern's immense firepower and stamina being "enough to defeat mages of this era" without being flashy so to speak indicate, at least to me, that this sort of thing was common in frieren's time! but this is a type of magic very specifically made for battle against a very specific enemy.
no wonder frieren likes collecting weird spells so much... i wonder if she's had much time at all in the past to play around with magic for the sake of anything but fighting and training to fight?

Having Thoughts about the Lister from Kochanski's universe. He's implied to be more, well, I guess "put together," with his outfit that's a bit more subdued, more like a uniform, and the hints we get from Kochanski that he- along with her other crewmates- was into literature, theater, opera, etc. And all of this despite the fact that he seems like our Lister in the flashback to Kochanski finding out about Frankenstein. Did he choose to change for Kochanski, become that version of himself because it was the kind of company she needed (or at least he thought she needed), the kind of person to keep her sane? Perhaps Kochanski interpreting Rimmer's behavior prior to her arrival as him making sacrifices for Lister's happiness is grounded in how she feels about what her Lister did. Or did she influence Lister more directly encouraging him, and the others, to pursue and invest in interests she enjoyed? In a way, this positions her as the center, the unspoken leader, of her crew in the same way our Lister is for his.
And I know she claims she was joking when she claimed her Lister was gay, and I know we're likely supposed to take her word for that, but I also can't help but be intrigued by the potential of reversal at play if she wasn't. Like, our Lister thinks he's straight, he pines for his Kochanski while Rimmer is with him, then Rimmer leaves and he's forced to confront Feelings for him and- oh, maybe he's not completely straight. If Kochanski's Lister believes he's gay (maybe gay/pining for Rimmer) while she's around and she leaves...well, maybe he dreams of her like the other Lister dreams of Rimmer. Here, Kochanski mirrors Rimmer, and in the show's main universe, she parallels him a lot, obviously taking on his role and filling the gap he left both metatextually and in universe.
Is Lister still waiting for her? Does he hold out a hope of seeing her again just as Lister still thinks they may come across her in the Dave era series? Has he been shut off, or shut himself off?

no but like okay i'm literally mixing the 1% of lore i know + personal headcannons but does anyone ever think about FUCKING JEAN VICQUEMARE like. imagine being Jean and your partner loses memory and pretty much becomes a better human being and gets a new partner/friend he isn't such a shit to and youre just left there with all the baggage of your relationship bc turns out he's actually lost his memory from drinking so hard. astronomic amounts of guilt probably because he didnt save Harry from destroying himself and he wasnt a better friend but also the anger at Harry for doing this to him and for probably making his life into hell for years and for being a better partner to Kim. So Jean is just left there like this??? wondering if Harry was actually the person who ruined Jean's life or if Jean was the reason Harry ruined his? who started this spiral? and the unfairness of only experiencing Harry's worst state and then Kim only experiencing his better side???

I hope they aren’t planning for another October takeover, because unless they’ll be playing games, it’s just slapping two villians onto the channel for a month. The Eclipse and Lunar show happened because Lunar wanted to play games and have fans and fun or something, they played games so it makes sense they’d rebrand it to themselves. The Bloodmoon and Ruin show (or whichever way it goes) took over the channel and played games, so it’d be rebranded to them. If this October they pull another takeover but the designated villians of the month don’t play games or barely do, that’s not a takeover that’s just rebranding it for a month, sure the lore could be more focused on that villian but there’d be no reason to rebrand the show since it wouldn’t make sense. I sound like a broken record but I just think it’s true.

Hmmm. I see. So what modernity wants in their stories is morally grey characters - not in the sense that they are merciless killers with good hearts but in the sense that they are flawed but that the lines between good and evil are too blurry to properly make out. And they want those characters of ambiguous morality to make choices that still end up for the better or everyone and those they care about because perhaps what matters deep down inside is caring. More than a story where the definitions of good and evil are properly outlined, we want a story where the choices we make matter, that even if the skies are grey, we can still paint color in this world
