Ever since @shinoposting made a post about Itachi being a more parental figure to Sasuke a couple of months ago, I've seen several angry responses to it, with the sentiment that "Itachi fans want to make Itachi look good and their parents look bad."
Listen.
Tumblr media
A five-year-end boy is left alone on the night of the kyuubi attack with his toddler brother.
Tumblr media
He doesn't even seem disconcerted, but instead promises "I'll always protect you, no matter what."
Tumblr media
Itachi is the one who sits with him, despite his busy schedule, despite grieving Shisui, and despite being burdened with what's more than he could handle, he took time to check on Sasuke's report card.
Tumblr media
Itachi was also ready to abandon his first Anbu mission for Sasuke's sake. It was after this their father even recalls he had to go to the Academy.
Itachi "ignored" Sasuke. And, like, what do people even expect from someone who's been this much burdened that isolating himself is the only thing he can do to protect Sasuke and his innocence?
Tumblr media
Yet, Itachi doesn't know exactly how not to be distant. That's a sign of how much he was suffering at this point. He was "bad" after the massacre, but before that, he was kind and sweet, who cared about nothing but Sasuke's wellbeing.

FUCK WHY I JUST NOW NOTICED THAT EVERY CONTACT THE HOKAGE WITH ITACHI LOOKS LIKE GROOMING. I mean no, it was pretty obvious, BUT WHAT HE AND THE ELDERS TOLD HIM SOUNDS LIKE A CLASSIC PEDOPHILE SET
"You are smarter than your peers"
"You're not like your clan"
"You're already thinking like a Hokage."

How I would fix Itachi Uchiha
Feel free to request this for other characters or ask worldbuilding questions.
Tumblr media
Have him not torture Sasuke in his Tsukuyomi. Seeing Itachi alone would be so retraumatizing to Sasuke to send him into a Panic attack.
Show him STRUGGLING. Even if it’s just a smidge.
Show the weight of his “decision” on his shoulders. Even pre reveal.
Put emphasis on the manipulation from Konoha and the root organization and how he didn’t actually have a choice in the slightest.
Give us more insight on his illness and what he did to fight it.
Make him REGRET what he did. At the very latest after he gets reanimated by Kabuto.
Show us his wants, needs and dreams. What lead him to make the decision that he ended up making?
Point out the flaws in his thinking and flesh it out: He thought that the only way to make it in the shinobi world is to become incredibly strong so others are too afraid to fight you.
Itachi is a tragic character, let’s write him like one.
Feel free to use these in headcanons, fics, etc. Tag or dm me so I can read em!

Your opinion? https://www.tumblr.com/dranosh-haran-of-paleoworld/766237407554273280/why-do-you-hate-itachi-so-much?source=share
Had to use a different browser because this pleasant person has me blocked lol anyway.
TL;DR: Itachi had no right to do the things he did, but he also had no choice. Even if adult onlookers could come up with choices, he was a child trapped in a mindset his authority figures hammered into him in his formative years, and then he was put under additional duress. Come the fuck on.
"This guy willingly betrayed his own people and family, selling them out to the government who wanted to destroy them all."
"Willingly" when talking about a 11-12-year-old brainwashed, groomed, traumatized child under duress is kinda wild. Yes, Naruto is all about normalizing child soldiers, but there's a line and that's Itachi having his horrible "milestones" at an age where others are still in school.
And it's not treason to report a conspiracy to commit, well, treason.
More after the break. Enjoy this screencap of a literal child and one of the many adults who chose to fail him.
Tumblr media
Itachi was 11 when he joined the ANBU, 12 when he killed the clan. His incompetent piece of shit father dragged him into a "kill or be killed" situation at 4, and he already had the muscle memory of slitting throats ON REFLEX?? What the everloving fuck did Fugaku do to his toddler? He was encouraged to leave school and enter the field for more death and horror at 8. All for the alleged greater good that was peddled to children and adults more aggressively than America's magical sky cloth. Fugaku and Danzo played a grooming tug-o-war with a literal prepub child and actively, deliberately, had him believe the weight of the world rested on his 3 inch shoulders. The fuck did anyone think was gonna happen when Itachi joined the ANBU everyone encouraged him to join, and did the work he was taught to admire - BY Fugaku, by the way. Fugaku wanted a peacemaker, then tried to start a war. Hm.
Tumblr media
Also, Itachi didn't "sell out" his clan. If I know a family member is about to start something with predictably catastrophic ramifications, like, you know, a glorified terrorist invasion ("coup"), I have a moral obligation to report that. "Family" does not matter. Blood, water, starting a war is something you deserve to have sabotaged. And if you're willing to kill, you better be ready to be killed. Everyone who cheered for the coup willingly risked death and willingly doomed their families. "Bloodless revolution" my ass, that is delusional. As if Konoha is just gonna accept Fugaku after a COUP!? Fucking TREASON!? Oppressed or not, you sow violence, you reap violence, and public perception matters. The public's perception of the Uchiha coup would probably be *checks notes* treason :)
Tumblr media
"His own people"? They all treated him like a trophy and an attack dog when they didn't outright abuse him for speaking his mind, when he was clearly old enough to let them exploit him. All they had for him was demands to make them proud and bring them glory, at the cost of his well-being. Chapter by chapter in Itachi Shinden, you can watch him wither and crumble. When Itachi's comrade was killed when he was 8, Fugaku literally said "He'll get over it" while his boy was falling apart in the next room. Those are not "his own people", they're one big, bubbling cunt stew with very few exceptions, judging by the novel.
Tumblr media
Whether the government wanted to destroy the Uchiha clan or whether it was racist or oppressive ultimately doesn't matter when the active threat to world peace and countless lives is coming from the other side. Two things can be true at the same time, so yeah Konoha sucked, but also yeah, the Uchiha posed a threat. The clan's lives weren't in danger when they decided to endanger everyone over discrimination that isn't even as egregious as what fat people on airplanes have to deal with. Defunding the police (LMAO), not letting a latent traitor run for president, surveillance, and a dedicated, OPEN compound none of the other clans who got one bitched about. Wow, what a compelling reason to set the world on fire!
Yes, Konoha failed the clan, yes, Konoha is scum for that. But two wrongs don't make a right. I'm tired of this whole nonsense of "they're oppressed so they're allowed to act like total barbarians and be the next oppressor". I'm tired on a personal level which you can probably guess.
This is not a responsible adult:
Tumblr media
"He knew about Obito and that he was behind the 9-Tails attack but said nothing to anyone. He discriminated against his own people and slaughtered them all to the last child."
He should definitely have reported Obito. But calling his actions against the clan discrimination is like saying the German police discriminates against that Berlin-based crime family because it happens to be a BIPOC minority. THEY ALSO HAPPEN TO BE THE FUCKING MOB. Of course, most Uchihas probably weren't active combatants and didn't deserve to die, but as horrible as it is, strategically, Danzo had a point when he said there could be no potential avengers.
Plus, outsiders like to focus on numbers as if more dead people means more suffering, but this isn't true. Just because 99 people suffer and die with me, doesn't mean each of us suffers and dies 100-fold. Sasuke was based when he said Itachi should have killed him, too. Outsiders don't want to accept this because it IS horrible, but sparing a young child after killing his whole family, is not kind. What would've awaited any children Itachi spared? The village that ordered their parents' slaughter? A world that clearly doesn't want them and will come after them at the first chance? Yeah sounds ever so fucking merciful. Just because unaffected gawkers think preserving a unique cultural or genetic group is the most important thing, doesn't mean the people actually affected have such priorities when literally staring death or a life of pain in the face.
Tumblr media
"He cast Tsukuyomi on his own parents and brutally murdered them, tortured his own little brother beyond imagine with one torture session putting Sasuke in a fucking coma, one he would've never gotten out of if it wasn't for that bitch Tsunade and that's the only good Tsunade did in the series."
When did he cast Tsukuyomi on his parents? And "brutally", well, they surrendered and he cut them down rather quickly. All murders are brutal. Should he have raided the local vet and injected them with anaesthetics first? He was a 12-year-old child, crying, shaking, probably exhausted and barely coherent after having killed all the others, and looking at his final victims, his parents, comforting him. Striking them down quickly was the best for everyone involved at that point, anything more elaborate, "more gentle", would have prolonged this horror. Also what did Tsunade do wrong, and if Itachi hadn't knocked Sasuke out for a while, he would have gotten himself killed. The Tsukuyomi was overkill, 100%.
Tumblr media
"Itachi thought he was wiser and more noble than his own people, which was pure and utter arrogance. When brought back as an edo, he said that a 7-year-old Sasuke could've changed the clan. He called himself Itachi Uchiha of Konoha and that he specifically had no regrets he was a massive piece of shit in life and death."
This is called interpretation. Yes, he was an arrogant child, he admitted this, Shisui told him, adults told him. But being an ass at the dawn of puberty doesn't invalidate the fact that he WAS smarter than most and the Uchiha uprising WAS a problem, and the clan was infinitely more arrogant than him for thinking they could just take power and that's the end of it. They were delusional. Being 11 when pointing this out doesn't mean he's wrong.
Tumblr media
Vilifying him for calling himself "Itachi Uchiha of Konoha" is silly. Many nations will do horrible things behind the scenes to keep the peace, and just because Sasuke and Itachi were the tragic and ever so pretty victims of this, doesn't make Konoha worse than others. It is a place people actually live in. A place people call home and have a right to call home and feel safe and thrive in. Itachi did what he was forced to do by both sides, to protect people's home and peace, not to get headpats from Danzo and Hiruzen.
He also never said he didn't regret the massacre. The fact that he said he wished he would have confided in Sasuke, the fact of him telling Naruto, Sasuke, and Kabuto that he was wrong to try and solve everything on his own, all suggest he wishes it had been different. His words when he dissolves are "Mou miren ha nai", which can be interpreted as regretting nothing, but this is usually meant in a sense of unfinished business. Itachi could not un-kill the clan. Danzo was dead. What more could he do that he could still have "miren" about? Personally, I think he shouldn't have undone the whole Edo Tensei because he kinda owed Sasuke to stick around and fight the other Edo Tenseis manually, but that's not the point.
Actual footage of Itachi alone with his thoughts, probably:
Tumblr media
"None of his plans make any kind of fucking sense. He wanted to save Konoha from war even though the other villages wouldn't have attacked for their own reasons."
Kindly look at Syria, Sudan, or Yemen, because the civil war the Uchiha were sure to start, would have been bad enough, you absolute pinecone. But I agree, Itachi's plans were mostly shit, but who taught him any kind of life skills or coping mechanisms? He wasn't parented, he wasn't guided, he was a trained attack dog. He never grew up mentally because when you're not allowed to feel like a child, know what being a child is, how are you gonna know when you're supposed to be all grown up and smart? He treated his suicide by Sasuke like a playdate. He toyed with him. He was a typical old soul, trauma and paralysis masquerading as maturity and composure. It's very apparent in the novels how helpless and small he felt. When the FUCK did he get a chance to unlearn his helplessness on one hand, and the world resting on his shoulders on the other? Itachi was deranged, but not by his own doing. A 4 to 12-year-old child is not responsible for their poor life "choices".
Tumblr media
"So Itachi saved Konoha from zero potential wars, especially when none of the other villages attacked after Obito's, Orochimaru's, and Pain's assaults in the series."
I wasn't aware Itachi's Sharingan could accurately predict the future. He stopped the civil war that was certain to happen and that he could stop. Not a single ninja has ever been expected to fix the whole world and the few who expected it of themselves were even more deranged than Itachi. Why hold a 12-year-old to a higher standard just because he's foolish enough to do so himself? Right until Shisui died, Itachi clung to his naive dream of becoming the greatest ninja to stop all wars. And then, both Fugaku and Danzo demanded he be that, when Shisui's death just had him realize how helpless he is. And then, there was a war looming on the horizon that he COULD prevent.
Tumblr media
"He practically sent Sasuke gift wrapped to Orochimaru or Danzo. He knew about Obito and Pain's plans and yet did nothing about them, which just screwed over Konoha immensely."
Yeah he fucked up with Orochimaru, and this was one of the things he could have predicted after Orochimaru tried it with him. Not killing Orochimaru when he had both cause and opportunity, was bafflingly stupid and I'll chalk it up to plot armour since Itachi will kill his own mother to protect Sasuke.
He was also a useless spy in Akatsuki, yes. He aided and abetted in several Kage and Jinchuuriki assassinations, all to keep a cover of questionable use.
We do have to grant him that he needed to stay alive to give Sasuke deserved closure. He didn't even know Obito wasn't Madara, so I don't expect him to have known much about Pain's abilities. Given he allegedly ties with Jiraiya and we all know what Pain did to him, Sasuke would not have gotten his revenge. As for Danzo, can we not underestimate him please? He had to be worn down into self-destruction by Sasuke, and when Itachi attacked him in the novel after getting the MS, he was immediately stopped.
Tumblr media
"He was never a prodigy or anything, unlike Sasuke. His fights are just him using genjutsu on his opponents and overpowering them with it, which just childish and stupid. He pulled Susanoo, Mirror Yata, and the Tsoka Blade out of his ass."
I agree Susano'o and its rigs were asspull done to compete with DBZ ratings, but how was he not a prodigy when he was recommended for graduation at 8? Poor writing or not, the canon fact is that Itachi was way ahead of his peers and many adults. We can't blame a character's personality in one moment, then bad writing the next. All writing boils down to creating the character's reality and all facts written by the author are equally valid.
Calling genjutsu childish and stupid is silly as you can apply this to all jutsu. Naruto's army of clones is arguably more ridiculous than mastering an otherwise underdiscussed technique at a level that has people like Kakashi scared. Personally, I think the big noisy techniques like Kisame's water jutsus and Hashirama's Slaparama are a lot more childish and geared towards hollering little boys. Itachi's fighting style is elegant and super duper gay.
Tumblr media
"This fucker is all over the place and doesn't make sense. Dushman-e-jaan has posts that go into greater detail about how this guy doesn't make sense, and I recommend you read them as she does an infinitely better job at explaining my dislike for Itachi than I have."
Dushman explicitly supports this:
Tumblr media
But thinks Konoha is worse for allegedly being this:
Tumblr media
In other words, Doucheman is fine with making 0 sense whatsoever as long as they can virtue-signal for fascists if they know how to sell the underdog act.

Not sure if you have done this before, but thoughts on Itachi?
Hi there! Uf, tough question with a lot of chances of bringing us hate, but, let's be brave! As a very obvious disclaimer, please bear in mind that you can love a character and still justify none of its actions. And that trying to understand what led someone to do something is by no means equal to trying to justify them.
Itachi committed a monstrous action exterminating his clan, there is no denying that. Still, I refuse to dump all the blame on him because he was used as a mere tool to fulfil the genocidal plans of Konoha's oligarchy. This issue was extensively discussed before in way more eloquent ways than I ever could so, I will just point out that Itachi was a traumatized child, educated in violence, trained for violence and encouraged to master his talent for violence by literally everyone in his life. Violence was his only tool, the only thing he was good at, and the only means to solve problems in the world he lived in.
He was given an impossible choice and he had to decide quickly and under duress. He was gifted, but still a child, and thus immature. He had obviously no capacity or possibility to solve such a conflict. He was given a choice of killing his clan quietly or risking a catastrophe that would lead to his brother's death (or, rather, he was straight out threatened with the assassination of his little brother by the village's leadership). Now, I of course believe such things were nonsense and that the uprising of the Uchiha didn't necessarily have to lead to a war. And, even if it did, there were plenty other means to avoid it. I also would have taken my brother with me and run, let hell unleash or whatever, before harming a single member of my family. But I am not a manipulated child soldier growing under a military regime that has traumatized me with war and brainwashed me since birth, so, what do I know.
I think I also take issue with Itachi being solely and mainly blamed for the massacre, because it personalizes in him an oppression that was systemic. The leadership of Konoha was determined to exterminate the Uchiha and had been establishing the bases for a genocide for at least two generations. The Uchiha had been racially profiled, discriminated, denied of civil rights, physically segregated, kept under surveillance, relegated to a specific job, and pseudoscientific theories had been formulated to justify their inadequacy for leadership as an excuse to exclude them from political decisions and important roles in the village they co-founded. Tobirama's political heirs in the council happily proposed a genocide with petty opposition form the highest political authority, with the sole excuse of keeping all power to themselves. Using Itachi, a member of the oppressed group, to do the dirty job for them, is just an additional level of atrocity. Having Itachi embody all the evilness is, I believe, a misinterpretation of the whole issue here and also kind of victim blaming.
In this line, I would like to point out something that I believe is important: Itachi won nothing from the massacre. He obtained no privilege, no reward at al. He remained excluded and powerless, he took all the blame and all the bad consequences, suffered an illness in silence and with no help from Konoha, and died as a villain getting nothing in return but hope that his brother would survive the vultures that would be forever after him. While the orchestrators of the genocide kept their power and privileges and took no damage, and even got to have the sole survivors of the Uchiha serving them like loyal pawns. I think it is easy to figure out who is really to blame and who is just an alienated useful tool.
Having said that, I don't think he was retconed, but, as a criticism for the creators, I believe they overdid his evil phase a bit. There is little justification for the torture he inflicted on Kakashi (I am not too sorry for him, I just think that 5 minutes of genjutsu torture would have been enough for Itachi to maintain his bad guy cover, he didn't need 72 hours unless he had a true personal reason for punishing him) or for torturing his little brother twice (I can see he wanted to make sure he was hated, but there were other ways, he certainly went too far). No wonder some fans believe he was retconed taking these things into account. I can only interpret that, after all the violence he went through, Itachi was sort of desensitized to it. Still, he left his brother, the person he loved most in the world, severely incapacitated (only Tsunade was able to heal him, and Itachi couldn't have foreseen that she would go back to Konoha. Had he not enough experience with Tsukuyomi and severely underestimated its consequences?). There is little explanation for this.
Now, what I find really curious and disappointing here, is that the narrative could never allow Itachi to acknowledge that the Uchiha were right or, at least, that the genocide was unjustifiable. But he is a good guy so, of course he has to show remorse. So, he is certainly suffering from what he did, he loved his family and feels extremely remorseful. But, for being so clever, he regrets absurd things. "I tried to do everything alone", well, Itachi, you were alone and that was not your fault. Is not like you could summon your anbu colleagues and propose a poll to decide what you should do with Danzo's orders. "I was arrogant", like, when did that happen? "I treated you like a child", well, because, he was a child? "I should have involved you, you could have changed the Uchiha" really? involve a 7 year old child? sure he would have been able to convince his family to just endure, why not. All so he wouldn't say the quiet part out loud. Konoha was a genocidal regime and the sole wrong thing here was annihilating the Uchiha, which he did because he was given no choice and, as a child, he was incapable of finding another way. That was probably asking too much of this story, where the military dictators are basically the good guys and their moral is sacrificing their family for the state.
Another funny thing I would like to mention is how Itachi talks about the Uchiha in the edo tensei arc. I talked about this before, but it is as if he was fed and believed all possible nonsensical Uchiha-hating stories:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I understand the message we are trying to convey here. The Uchiha were power-thirsty mean people, see, the genocide was justified. But it doesn't make sense. Assuming every person has two sharingans (Danzo and his sick experiments aside), there is zero possibility for that "endless reworkings" situation. Also, the Uchiha needed a jutsu to keep themselves humble and honorable, because the izanagi was so dishonorable (we only saw it used once in a repetitive, sick way in canon, and it was by Danzo, but whatever). As if the Uchiha are the ones that need to keep their humbleness in check because they have tendencies to do megalomaniac things like hoarding power, accumulating and trading with mass destruction weapons, carving their faces in stone, or commissioning crazy big statues to commemorate their victorious fights. Even when stating that the Uchiha created a jutsu themselves to solve a problem they had among themselves and that never threatened any outsider, they are presented as some irrational, greedy people.
So, in conclusion, Itachi could have been wrong and biased, but he very clearly did not want to be the execution hand of a genocide, he did not hate his clan and he deeply loved his family. But sadly, we have to admit, he was strongly manipulated by Konoha's nationalistic bullshit and died twice with intact and convinced loyalty for Konoha. There is no denying that. However, I take issue when he is framed as a soulless Konoha bootlicker, because he was ready to leak any information he had on Konoha should they do anything to Sasuke, ready to help enemy nations and unleash the war and bloodshed he was trying to avoid with the massacre. He was canonically doing everything to ensure Sasuke's safety, not for Konoha.
In summary, for me, Itachi is a complex character whose contradictions are left unresolved in the narrative because the deranged moral of the story is, sadly, that there are circumstances where a genocide can be justified. And still, I can't help but love this character, mostly because Sasuke loves him so greatly. And Itachi was ready to give up everything for Sasuke, even Konoha and the whole ninja world. I like to believe that this is evidence that the "will of fire" cult didn't win completely with him, and that, ever after betraying his clan, he still kept some of that unfathomable and unconditional love for his family that Konoha could not tolerate in the Uchiha.

sasuke fans, most specifically, sasusaku stans who hate on itachi make me boil, like as if ain't that the person Sasuke loved the most. like be frrrrrr.
They’re jealous that their self insert isn’t even thought about as much as Itachi.
And you’d think that the same fandom that totes around the forehead poke in 699 and Gaiden as an “act of love” would have more respect to its creator.

Omegaverse Naruto Edition
(Any pictures used are not mine, found on Pinterest)
Day 3 of this and I have chosen Itachi and Sakura. Idk why but I enjoy the thought of them two together. It would be like one of those things where you think your crush is on the guy in your class but then you go over to his house and meet his older brother and now you’re crushing on him…
Tumblr media
Sakura would be crushing hard after meeting Itachi. She would find any excuse to be going over to the Uchiha household. Itachi wouldn’t even notice her until she got older, once she manifested at 16, he would smell this really sweet scent, something soft yet comforting, like a warm blanket on a cold day, it would envelop him and he wouldn’t be able to think about anything else. He didn’t want to figure out that scent it case it was coming from Naruto, he knew Sasuke was head over hills for him and didn’t want to intrude so he stayed in his room when Sasuke had his friends over. Until one day he had to use the restroom and when he went to open the door, Saukura came out, her face blushed pink and as she was about to walk away she tucked her hair behind her ear and that familiar scent hit Itachis nose. He instinctively grabbed her by the wrist to pull her back into him. He nuzzled into her hair and said it’s you. She stood there confused but Itachi smiled down at her and asked her out in which she happily accepted.
Itachi always looked so serious but when he’s with Sakura, it’s nothing but smiles and laughter. He’s a very protective alpha towards her but he’s also very gentle and sweet. He never imagined he would end up with one of his brothers best friends but to him she was his everything. He wanted nothing more but to see his omega happy and smiling. Sakura was the perfect omega for him, she always surprised him when she became dominant or sometimes hostile when her own protective instincts came out to play. He liked that she could be feisty.
For most of Sakuras pregnancy, itachi would be away on a mission. As much as she wanted to be with her alpha, she knew the village needed her but she also knew she had to protect the little boy or girl that was growing inside. Itachi would send frequent crows to bring her trinkets, check up on her, or bring her little notes he wrote for her. While he was away, he would try to visit small shops, collecting things for the baby and for his omega. He knew by the time he got home that she would probably have a nest built and he wanted to make sure she had everything she needed and more.

"Itachi tortured Sasuke for 72 hours in his Tsukuyomi." and "Itachi showed Sasuke his parents' deaths 518400 times in his Tsukuyomi."
It's a cheap attempt to demonize Itachi. A way to say, "Look! He committed these atrocities at his own brother. What a terrible person. No way I'm ever going to like him."
Before I begin, this post is not condoning what Itachi did. And it's not an "Itachi did nothing wrong" post. So if anyone wants to get angry about it, calm down.
What Itachi did was already bad enough without having to inflate the numbers in order to demonize him and his fans as well. It can be proven right away.
First of all, on the "72 hours Tsukuyomi" thing.
Itachi never put Sasuke in the 72 hours Tsukuyomi. We know Sasuke's state after the 24 hrs one. The boy was in a coma afterwards. Let's just take a look at the pages following the massacre.
Tumblr media
First of all, Itachi did not show Sasuke the same thing over and over "on a loop" to Sasuke right after the massacre. It was a lot of things. The deaths, the happy moments. He wanted Sasuke to believe he was evil. That the person who took away these happy moments from him was Itachi himself. There's this one panel of his parents being slaughtered in the corner. However, there is also Itachi replaying Sasuke's happier memories.
This moment then continues.
Tumblr media
Sasuke wants to escape. Is he in coma yet? No. He's clearly run out of the house. Although Sasuke almost collapses in this, but we know he wouldn't collapse right here yet.
Tumblr media
The above flashback continues in the chapter #403 when Sasuke recalls his suppressed memories. He's staggering and nearly collapses. But he actually doesn't fall down here.
Tumblr media
The next moment from that page.
Tumblr media
And then this.
Tumblr media
And finally this.
In all these pages Sasuke is seen running/chasing after Itachi. He throws kunai at Itachi. He does collapse, but it happens after he's awakened his Sharingan and he's exhausted after everything he's experienced. His trauma plays an important role, but it's not immediately afterwards.
I need to be enlightened: How could the 7 year old Sasuke endure a 72 hour Tsukuyomi, chase after Itachi, and even make attempts to attack him, but a 12 years Sasuke went into coma after 24 hours.
Now, where do the specific numbers 518400 really come from? And why do people think it's truth?
Let's do some maths here. To convert 72 hours into seconds, we need to multiply 72 with 3600 (or 60 × 60).
So, seconds in in 72 = 72 × 60 × 60 = 259200 seconds
When you multiply 259,200 with 2, you get — 259200 × 2 = 518400.
What do these numbers really mean?
That Itachi had to put Sasuke in the 72 hours of Tsukuyomi twice and show him their parents dying "on a loop" every single second. Or he had to show their parents' deaths twice every second to make these numbers.
But we know already he never put Sasuke in his Tsukuyomi for that long.
When we take the 24hrs in the inn into account, that demands that Itachi show Sasuke his parents dying 6 times every second. Because the seconds in 24 hours are -
24×60×60 = 86400 seconds
To make these numbers 518400, we need to multiply the above mentioned numbers by 6.
86400 × 6 = 518400
So, by this logic, Itachi was showing their parents dying to Sasuke 6 times every single second. How did people calculate this? Where's the proof? Is there anything other than "Trust me, bro" to this claim? No.
Some people bring up Itachi's novels to justify these numbers.
The time that passed within this genjutsu was one one-hundredth of one one-thousandth of one one-millionth of that of the real world.
But Kishimoto never alluded to these numbers in Manga. The novels were published 7 years after Itachi had died in Manga (in 2015 in Japanese). All throughout those years, Koshimoto never bothered to tell us Itachi's genjutsu had this much detailed ability. The "Itachi had a girlfriend" is a more believable claim than this.
To conclude - Itachi never put Sasuke in Tsukuyomi for 72 hours. There was no torture that "lasted for 6 days/lasted for so many days/lasted for eternity" and all the lies these people have created here.

People are too desperate to demonize this boy. I wish I had vast vocabulary of colourful words I could hurl at these people.

There really should be a pro itachi and pro sasuke group chat. They don’t nearly get enough love in the fandom.

Itachi when he was five: eh, my yellow pencil broke. Well, okay, then I'll paint the sun with red one.
Hiruzen: holy shit, he is genius! We should use his skills in the future in absolutely all situations that we don’t want to handle ourselves!
Elders: YEEEES!
