How to find your Apple TV's IPv6 address(es)
Since Apple TV's network settings don't list IPv6 info, it's time to get creative, though it won't be the hardest tech guide out there. Typically it has 2 IPv6 addresses: 1 public, and 1 private (The latter of which is used within the home's router network).
————————————————
Public IPv6 address
Download https://apps.apple.com/app/icurlhttp-appletv/id1153384808 (iCurlHTTP AppleTV)
2) Open that app. 3) In its "Browser" settings in the lower left, change from "User" to "iPhone". This is required. 4) In its address field in the upper left, write "https://ip.me". Then press the remote's OK button. 5) If it works, a row will show up a slight bit down in the text results that say "<p class="ip-address">" followed by your Apple TV's public IP.
————————————————
Private IPv6 address (i.e. within your router's LAN)
Download https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vlc-media-player/id650377962 (VLC for Apple TV)
2) Open that app. 3) Go to "Remote Playback" → Click "Turn On Remote Playback" if it hasn't already been turned on. 4) The app will show a URL that it tells users to open on a non-"Apple TV device". It will usually be "http://(The Apple TV's network name in lowercase with dashes).local" Ensure that the VLC app remains on that screen throughout the entire rest of the guide. 5) On a Windows, macOS, or Linux device (Android won't work), open any sort of command line (PowerShell, Cygwin, Windows Terminal, Command Prompt, Mac Terminal, Bash, ZSH, anything you can think of like those). It is not needed to run as administrator, though nothing bad happens if you do.
6) Type "ping (the URL from step 4 but without the http:// part)", then press Enter.
7) If it works, the result will show "Pinging (URL) [(The private IP address)] with 32 bytes of data:" 8) That IP (Remove the last "%(2 numbers)" part first) can then be pasted into a browser, "http://[(The IP)]". The square brackets are required. 9) If the browser loads a "Drop files" window, then the IP works correctly.

I feel like there's a divide between reasons why anti-capitalists opposed capitalism, which is pretty well determined by their stance on IP:
- As an IP abolitionist, I oppose capitalism because property rights stifle freedom; their purpose is to prevent people from using stuff and should only be employed when absolutely necessary, like with toothbrushes. It should not be employed with second or third houses the owner rarely even visit, and *definitely* should not be employed with non-scarce things like information (art, inventions, scientific knowledge, etc)
- pro-IP communists, on the other hand, seem to oppose capitalism because the bourgeoisie are leeches taking the surplus value of workers' labour, who deserve the full value of what they produce. It's a very zero-sum, meritocratic way of thinking imo, and I feel like I have more in common with anti-IP libertarians and ancaps than communists of this stripe, even though I agree more with the communists on object-level economic prescriptions.

Combing through an Ao3 author's bookmarks in the hopes of "well they wrote a masterpiece so hopefully they've read some too" is so hit or miss. Like, just went through one (with heavy exclusions) that almost every batfam fic was just amazing, and the Harry potter and star wars bookmarks made me say out loud, "this person isn't allowed to read fanfiction anymore. What the heck."
#nia post#like. truely outlandish horrifying stuff#at least make that private you know???#and why are the ONLY star wars fics obiwan abo when there are so many works of art?!#i become batman but only to find people from their IP and shake them and yell “repent!!!! please!!!!”#ao3

With your ass backwards thinking then people are allowed to use others artwork in books, movies, comics, advertising, everything and not cite nor pay the artist for the work used. Anything you dont like is elitism. Lord forbid someone expect you to do something because its respectful toward the original artist
tell me do you really think an individual person showing a tattooist fanart they want permanently inked on their body and getting a tattoo that they're paying for and the tattooist being paid once to emulate that art on another person's body is the same thing as advertisers or other companies using someone else's art without credit or royalties to rake in potentially endless money from it. or do you live in an alternate dimension where people gain revenue whenever someone sees their tattoo
#if you want to restrict the way The Public consumes and uses something so u can gain capital from it#then that's a form of private property#and ip is a form of private property#and if you are someone who considers yourself any form of leftist#then you should be against that#considering socialism can be succinctly described as the abolition of private property#and if you aren't then...idk what ur doing on my blog tbh#and companies using the art is not the public that is privatized use

I think it's fair to be critical of AI but I'm fucking begging people to stop reblogging fearmongering shit saying that AI is using all the water and tons of electricity because none of it is even remotely true.
Most of those supposed claims come from analyzing data centers as a whole (which run. like. most of the internet in general, only a small fraction is dedicated to processing AI shit) and then assuming that the data center is 100% being used for AI generation. Which... Is nowhere near the case.
I literally looked at one of the studies the other day ppl constantly cite and IN the study they just straight-up admitted that they didn't know how much energy AI used so they guessed how much it used based on the capacity of the WHOLE data center. Like they just straight-up lied. And these "studies" are being cited in tons of articles.
I have downloaded an image generator that was trained solely on public domain images just to test these theories and ran it on a local machine and the resources it used on my laptop were less than running a video game for the same amount of time.
Even the "water" that it uses to cool shit is usually not usable drinking water IIRC. Like it's repurposed sewage or some shit
Making AI go away is not going to fix the energy thing! The internet just uses tons of energy and we need to figure out how to fix that as a whole
I'm not making this rebloggable because some idiot is inevitably going to try and link one of those bogus liar studies as some kind of "gotcha" and i'm sick of it. You can criticize labor conditions for like. a billion other real reasons just fucking give it up.
#null rambles#companies are lying to you about AI because they want you to be pro-copyright#then they can ban everyone from infringing on their IP and use their own private AI to replace workers anyway#people WANT you to freak out about AI#so when it goes away then they can pretend nothing is wrong :)

my mom isn’t letting my dad go back to his office bc him being out of the house stresses her out and makes her have a flare up and it’s like kind of insane. like i understand why the idea of him doing that would make her panicky and angry as someone who also struggles w separation anxiety and abandonment shit / has physical symptoms from that kind of stress (though not to the same degree ofc) but also he is a grown man. he should be allowed to go to his office and not have to shape his entire life around her needs. and she keeps guilt tripping him out of it and it’s impacting his quality of life a lot and the whole thing is kind of… hm
#purrs#delete later#also she’s guilt tripping me into coming to the stupid fucking potluck on sunday bc she needs the extra help and it’s like… what are you#gonna do when i move out. like i am a grown woman and i should be able to choose how i spend my two precious weekend days. and my dad is a#grown man and he should be able to choose where he works. like is that not a little bit insane. i get it but also….. i do think it s kind of#fucked ip that it’s her way or the highway and her needs take priority over all of ours and she’s asking us to bend to what she wants when#she wants it. like i get it bc she’s sick but it’s not fair for her to expect that from my dad especially. particularly when me and my#brother are back at work / school in more high risk environments than my dad who would be in a private office alll day. and the thing is no#one is brave enough to all her on it bc if we did it would be the END of the world. she even threw a fit on my dads bday and complained bc#the things he wanted to do were things she didn’t want to do like all the man wanted to do was go mini golfing and when that wasn’t good#enough he just wanted to go on a walk and my mom complained the whole time and also scoffed the movie he wanted to watch and said it was#boring and it’s like… wtf it’s HIS birthday??? but what do you expect from the woman who (and in fairness her friends got her these as gifts#but still) has TWO kitchen items that say some variation of ‘a marriage is when one is always right and the other is always the husband’ 💀#i look at that little plaque every night bc it’s in front of the sink when im doing dishes and it makes me so fucking angry. like my dad is#a whole fucking person and he can be right too and he deserves to make choices and be happy and not have his wife put him down all the time.#idk. and she puts down his family all the time too and complains when he wants to do the most reasonable things for his own enjoyment that#don’t align with hers and criticizes his interests all the time and it just sucks to see. he never shows hurt or anything so idk how he#feels about it but it makes me so angry and sad and when i tell her to stop she just lashes out at me so. 🤪. like how do we get her to stop#making her needs more important than everyone else’s bc… she may be our mom / his wife / whateger but that doesn’t make her queen. no one is#(andalso this has only gotten worse bc of covid / her being sick. like this has been a lifelong thing it’s just it’s a lot worse now bc the#circumstances gave her room / forced her to have to take up more space. and it’s just so frustrating. i get it. but none of us are pawns or#dolls or subordinates or anything. there’s 5 adults here and we should all be able to make choices and not be guilt tripped by her. lol#)

Oh _lovely_. Everyone go turn this off:
Enhanced Visual Search in Photos allows you to search for photos using landmarks or points of interest. Your device privately matches places in your photos to a global index Apple maintains on our servers. We apply homomorphic encryption and differential privacy, and use an OHTTP relay that hides [your] IP address. This prevents Apple from learning about the information in your photos. You can turn off Enhanced Visual Search at any time on your iOS or iPadOS device by going to Settings > Apps > Photos. On Mac, open Photos and go to Settings > General.

Exploring the Role of Residential Proxies in Cross-Border E-Commerce
In today’s digital economy, cross-border e-commerce has become a cornerstone of global business. Whether it’s for market research, competitive analysis, price comparison, or ad verification, companies engaged in cross-border commerce need to leverage various digital tools to maintain a competitive edge. One such tool that is increasingly becoming essential is the use of residential proxies.
Residential proxies, particularly rotating residential proxies and static residential proxies, allow e-commerce businesses to conduct operations that are crucial for success in a global marketplace. This article dives into the importance of residential proxies in cross-border e-commerce, how businesses can effectively use them, and the factors that determine the best residential proxy providers.
What Are Residential Proxies and Why Are They Important? To understand their significance in cross-border e-commerce, let’s first define residential proxies. A residential proxy uses IP addresses assigned to real residential homes by Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Unlike traditional data center proxies, which use IPs from data centers and are easily detected by websites as non-human traffic, residential proxies appear as if the traffic is coming from real people using everyday devices. This makes them more legitimate and harder for websites to block or flag as suspicious.
In the context of e-commerce, residential proxies offer several benefits:
Bypassing Geo-Restrictions: Residential proxies allow businesses to access content and services from different countries without being restricted by local geo-blocks. This is particularly useful for cross-border e-commerce companies that need to view content as it appears to users in different regions.
Ad Verification: Companies running ads in multiple markets need to ensure that their ads appear correctly in all regions. Residential proxies make it easier to verify ad placement and effectiveness across different countries, helping e-commerce businesses optimize their campaigns.
Price Scraping: E-commerce businesses often monitor competitors’ prices and adjust their pricing strategies accordingly. Residential proxies allow them to scrape competitor data without getting blocked, as the IP addresses mimic real users.
Rotating vs. Static Residential Proxies When choosing the best residential proxy service, one of the most important decisions is whether to opt for rotating residential proxies or static residential proxies. Each type offers distinct advantages depending on the task at hand.
A. Rotating Residential Proxies Rotating residential proxies are dynamic and change their IP address after each request or after a specified period. These proxies are perfect for activities that require continuous access to multiple websites without the risk of being blocked, such as:
Web scraping: When gathering data from multiple websites, rotating proxies make it appear as though the requests are coming from different users, reducing the likelihood of detection by websites.
Market research: E-commerce companies can simulate real users from different regions to gather insights about consumer behavior or competitive pricing.
The major benefit of rotating proxies is their ability to prevent websites from blocking a particular IP, as the IPs change frequently, mimicking a real human browsing experience.
B. Static Residential Proxies On the other hand, static residential proxies offer a single, fixed IP address that remains the same for the duration of the session. This type of proxy is ideal for activities that require consistency in the IP address. Some use cases include:
Ad verification: When verifying ads in a particular market, using a static residential proxy ensures that the same IP is used throughout the process, leading to more accurate ad placement results.
Account management: For e-commerce businesses managing multiple accounts or online platforms, static residential proxies offer a stable connection, which reduces the risk of account suspension or bans.
While static residential proxies are often slower than rotating ones, they provide a more reliable solution for businesses that require constant IP addresses.
Choosing the Right Residential Proxy Provider Selecting the right provider for your residential proxy needs can make or break your efforts in cross-border e-commerce. Here are the key factors to consider when evaluating residential proxy services:
A. Global Coverage and Location Variety One of the main reasons for using residential proxies in cross-border e-commerce is to access specific regions or countries. Therefore, the provider you choose should offer a wide range of IP addresses from various global locations. This is especially important for businesses that need proxies from specific countries to conduct geo-targeting, price scraping, or competitive analysis.
Ensure that your provider has a broad selection of residential IPs from major e-commerce markets, including the US, the EU, Asia, and emerging markets. This enables you to test ads, check regional prices, and interact with online marketplaces from different geographical locations.
B. Bandwidth and Speed Speed and bandwidth are essential when dealing with large-scale e-commerce operations. Residential proxies tend to be slower than data center proxies, but that doesn’t mean you should settle for slow connections. Look for providers that offer unlimited bandwidth and prioritize high-speed performance. This is crucial when performing real-time scraping or running large ad campaigns across multiple countries.
C. Security and Anonymity Anonymity and security should always be top priorities when using residential proxies for e-commerce activities. Make sure that your provider offers strong encryption and a secure connection to protect your data. A reliable residential proxy provider should hide your real IP and ensure that your e-commerce activities remain private and safe from prying eyes.
D. Pricing and Plans When evaluating residential proxy services, consider the pricing structure carefully. Residential proxies tend to be more expensive than data center proxies, so it’s important to find a provider that offers cost-effective plans while still meeting your needs. Many providers offer free trials or pay-as-you-go options that allow you to test their services before committing.
Some providers offer cheap residential proxies, but be careful as lower-cost options may not offer the same level of security, speed, or customer support as premium services. Always weigh the cost against the benefits provided to ensure you're getting good value.
E. Customer Support A good customer support team is crucial, especially for businesses that rely heavily on proxies for their operations. Look for providers that offer 24/7 support through multiple channels like live chat, email, and phone. Ensure that the provider has a responsive support system to help you troubleshoot any issues that arise, such as slow speeds, blocked IPs, or connection problems.
Different Types of Residential Proxies for E-Commerce Applications A. Residential SOCKS5 Proxies SOCKS5 residential proxies are a versatile option for e-commerce businesses that require more control over their internet connection. Unlike HTTP proxies, SOCKS5 proxies support a wide variety of protocols and can be used for a broader range of tasks, including web scraping, ad testing, and market research.
SOCKS5 proxies offer greater security by providing a secure tunnel between the client and the server, making it harder for websites to detect and block the traffic.
B. Private and Dedicated Residential Proxies For businesses that need exclusive and uninterrupted access to specific IPs, private residential proxies and dedicated residential proxies are ideal. These types of proxies ensure that the IPs are not shared with other users, offering more privacy and better performance for critical tasks.
Private residential proxies are typically sold to a single user, making them a perfect choice for businesses that need uninterrupted access to specific websites or services.
Dedicated residential proxies offer similar benefits but are usually associated with higher costs. They are excellent for high-priority users who require a guaranteed level of performance.
Conclusion In the competitive world of cross-border e-commerce, having access to reliable and efficient residential proxies can provide significant advantages. Whether you're engaged in geo-targeting, market research, or ad verification, residential proxies can help you access global content, maintain anonymity, and enhance your operations across multiple regions.
By carefully considering factors such as proxy type, global coverage, speed, security, and pricing, businesses can choose the best residential proxy provider to meet their needs. Whether you opt for rotating residential proxies, static residential proxies, or SOCKS5 residential proxies, the right residential proxy service can be a game-changer for your cross-border e-commerce efforts.
