The police withheld communication with the Princess around the wedding in Geiranger
The police probably broke the law several times when they failed to publish several critical e-mails from Märtha Louise's management.
Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett's management sent several harsh emails to the police in Møre and Romsdal this summer about the wedding in Geiranger.
Yesterday, it became known that they blamed the police for allowing media to film from the air.
Now, it turns out that the e-mails went like ping-pong balls between the management and the police for several weeks before the argument was put to rest. Only this week did the police decide to publish them in the postal journal, as they are obliged to do.
This means that the police have kept a number of documents about the wedding secret for a long time.
- It is deeply regrettable to see that the police do not have greater respect for the principle of openness than this suggests, says General Secretary Reidun Kjelling Nybø of the Norwegian Editors' Association.
She says it is very important for journalists that the police also follow the law and keep a record of all letters and e-mails on an ongoing basis.
Several documents disappeared
The e-mails about the controversial drone filming over Geiranger are not the only documents that never appeared in the police records - until now:
Several e-mails dated April following a meeting between the police, the World Heritage Center and the wedding hotel appeared in the postal journal this week.
The same applies to e-mails from the end of May from the police to the princess's management, with dialogue around a press release that was to be sent out.
Also, e-mails from the mayor of Stranda to the police on 23 May only became visible this week.
This is what the police should have done
The police must keep continuous postal records of all incoming and outgoing mail. This applies to all public institutions and is laid down in the Public Officials Act, the Archives Act, and the Archives Regulations. This should enable most people—and the press—to follow what is happening.
The civil ombudsman has stated several times that record-keeping must be done continuously and as quickly as possible:
"The ombudsman finds reason to point out that the department must organise its work in such a way that record-keeping takes place continuously and as quickly as practically possible, also during periods of high work pressure or delays in a case. Gradual record-keeping, and especially record-keeping that is postponed until after the case has ended or until the case is less relevant could lead to the perception that the rules on transparency [are being] disregarded."
- Haven't tried to keep anything secret
All summer, the police have published postal records, but they have not attached the e-mails about the wedding. Department director Iselin Nevstad Øvrelid in Møre and Romsdal police district blames, among other things, high work pressure.
- The police have not tried to keep anything secret. We are dependent on talking to others in the organization to take care of preparedness, confidentiality and safety. It's not that we don't want to publish it, but we have to be confident that what we publish is correct, she says.
- But they don't need two months for that, do they?
- We had to use the time it took so that we could be sure that everything was taken care of. But we should certainly have recorded it earlier, she says.
The police recently received criticism from the bride and groom's management for revealing that the wedding was to take place outside, close to the hotel.
- Clear violation of the law
Lawyer Kristine Foss in the Press Association states that the police's handling of the e-mails about the wedding breaks the law.
- The police are breaking the law because they are withholding the e-mails for such a long time. It violates the entire purpose of the legislation, Foss asserts.
- But the police point to high work pressure and the need to clarify questions about, among other things, the duty of confidentiality and safety. Isn't that a point?
- Such conditions can mean that it can take a few extra days, but it shouldn't take several months, she says.
She underlines that the whole point of keeping records is that people should be able to continuously monitor what official establishments are doing.
Will attempt to change practice
Department director Iselin Nevstad Øvrelid firmly denies that the police have received instructions from Märtha Louise's management to play tricks with the postal record. As far as she knows, all relevant documents should now be on the table.
- We should have recorded this earlier, and we just have to take that with us. We shall strive to ensure that it is done as the Public Officials Act and the Archive Regulations say.
General Secretary Reidun Kjelling Nybø of the Press Association believes it's the only thing missing.
- They should of course keep records in the postal record continuously, that is what they are obliged to do according to the legislation.

Princess Märtha Louise of Norway got married to her "shaman" the other day and ngl I am high-key obsessed.
If you don't know: these are two people who absolutely match the fuck out of each other's freak. Princess Märtha Louise is pretty notorious for her woo woo new age spiritual beliefs which include being able to talk to angels. I wonder if she's ever on the spirit phone with Princess Diana.
Her husband, "Shaman" Durek Verrett claims to be a fifth generation shaman with unique healing and spiritual powers. Yeah, he's a good ol' fashioned con man out there doing Rasputin proud and he hit the fucking jackpot.
Like it's easy to say that she's a mark but also if she weren't a princess she'd absolutely be a cult leader so I kind of love these two garbage people finding love.
Anyway, the tiara she chose is legit one of my top-tier favorite royal tiaras, it's soooo beautiful and elegant. Too bad she paired it with an ill-fitting and cheap-looking dress with flowers that must have been hot-glued on.

Happy 87th birthday to Queen Sonja of Norway!
Born on 4 July 1937, Sonja Haraldsen is the Queen of Norway as the wife of King Harald V.
In June 1959 she first met Crown Prince Harald. They dated for nine years, although their relationship had been kept secret because she was a commoner. The Crown Prince made it clear to his father, King Olav V, that he would remain unmarried for life unless he could marry her. This would in effect have put an end to the rule of his family, and likely to the monarchy in Norway, as Harald was the sole heir to the throne.
Sonja became engaged to Crown Prince Harald on 19 March 1968. The couple married on 29 August 1968, at Oslo Cathedral. She thus acquired the style of Royal Highness and the title of Crown Princess of Norway. Following the death of King Olav V on 17 January 1991, Sonja became Queen Consort of Norway.
Harald and Sonia have two children: Princess Märtha Louise (52) and Crown Prince Haakon (50), and 6 grandchildren: Maud Angelica Behn (21), Princess Ingrid Alexandra (20), Leah Isadora Behn (19), Prince Sverre Magnus (18) and Emma Tallulah Behn (16).

The Norwegian "Harry and Meghan" are running into parental alienation problems and calls for title-yanking just like the originals by u/Hermes_Blanket
The Norwegian "Harry and Meghan" are running into parental alienation problems and calls for title-yanking, just like the originals https://ift.tt/lQrIeEw small difference is that "Shaman" Durek only seems to care about accessing his princess' money, not her title. (Another is that, at least so far, Meghan has never claimed to have come back from the dead.) But if Princess Märtha Louise ends up being formally stripped of her title, that will be additional incentive to strip Harry of his. She has done far less to damage the Norwegian monarchy than H&M have done to the British one.The comments on the article pointedly draw the parallels between the two couples. A small sample:"Are they going to flounder around like gasping fish, pursuing money without wanting to really work for it? Didn't or hasn't worked for another more famous work shy couple.""This family got lucky that she didn´t marry him the minute she met him , so they have had an opportunity to work out how to deal with her and him. The opportunity our Royal Family didn´t have.""Norway we feel your pain.""Looks like Norway has its own Harry & Meghan. This guy's mother sounds like she knows exactly what she is talking about and everyone would be well advised to listen to her, otherwise they will be moaning in a few year's time that they should have done so. The King should remove her princess title and send them on their way with no support from the royal family." post link: https://ift.tt/MskqEJZ author: Hermes_Blanket submitted: July 27, 2024 at 05:52AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. Harald V of Norway
Tumblr media
Physique: Average Build Height: 6′ 2″ (1.88 m)
Harald V (born 21 February 1937 -) is King of Norway. He succeeded to the throne on 17 January 1991 following his father's death. Harald was the third child and only son of King Olav V of Norway and Princess Märtha of Sweden. In 1940, as a result of the German occupation during World War II, the royal family went into exile. Harald spent part of his childhood in Sweden and the United States. He returned to Norway in 1945, and subsequently studied for periods at the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Military Academy, and Balliol College, Oxford.

Very handsome when he was young, but even though he's aged, doesn't mean I wouldn't have taken him to bed on a very regular basis. A keen sportsman, he represented Norway in sailing at the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympic Games, and later became patron of World Sailing.

Harald married Sonja Haraldsen in 1968, their relationship having initially been controversial due to her status as a commoner. They have two children, Märtha Louise and Haakon.

Ahead of their wedding, Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett released a bottle of gin branded with their joint monogram. The bottle was immediately controversial thanks to the use of her princess title on the label of a commercial product and was briefly withdrawn from shelves after it transpired the use of the monogram may have broken alcohol legislation in Norway. When the gin returned for sale the monogram had been hastily covered up with black tape.

VG: Royal duty to testify investigated in 1994 – this was the conclusion
The police will now decide whether Crown Princess Mette-Marit can be summoned for questioning or not. A similar issue was thoroughly considered 30 years ago.
Just over a week ago, the attorney for Juliane Snekkestad – one of the women in the Høiby case – submitted a request to the Oslo Police District to summon the Crown Princess for questioning.
The attorney, Petter J. Grødem, informs VG that he has not yet received a response to the request from the police.
Ever since Marius Borg Høiby (27) was arrested in August, questions have been raised about whether members of the Royal House can be, for example, questioned.
The constitution grants certain special rights to royalty, and opinions have been divided on whether [members who married into the family] also have immunity.
Two experts VG spoke to believe that the police can summon everyone in the Royal House – besides the King – for questioning like all other citizens. However, as a mother, Mette-Marit does not have the duty to testify.
She can therefore refuse because she is close family to the accused.
It is section 37 of the Constitution that is relevant here: "The Royal Princes and Princesses shall not be responsible for their persons to anyone other than the King or whomever he appoints as judge over them."
In 1994, Princess Märtha Louise was summoned as a witness in a divorce case in England and was listed as a co-defendant in the lawsuit.
The case was widely reported in the media, and the legal department of the Norwegian Ministry of Justice prepared a study of the issue.
Their conclusion was that Princess Märtha Louise did not have an obligation to [testify].
[...]
A key point for this conclusion was that the Princess had been made a party to the case:
"Section 37 of the Constitution prevents a Prince or Princess from being made a general party in a divorce case without the King's consent."
The following section of the study may be relevant to the current issue:
"On the other hand, the provision can hardly be interpreted in principle as exempting the Princes and Princesses from giving ordinary witness statements in a civil or criminal case."
Excerpts from an article by Marianne Vikås, Nora Viskjer, Morten S. Hopperstad, Bjørnar Tommelstad, Hilde Kristine Misje, Siri B. Christensen and Gordon Andersen for Verdens Gang (VG), published Nov. 4, 2024, at 18:28 and updated the same day at 18:38. The excerpt has been translated and edited for clarity by me.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra's Inheritance
Tumblr media
In anticipation of Trond Norén Isaksen's new book, Ingrid Alexandras Arv, I thought it would be fun to make a list of all of the Norwegian royal tiaras that will one day belong to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
The number of working members of the Norwegian Royal Family is pretty small and is in the process of becoming even smaller. Princess Märtha Louise no longer carries out royal duties, Princess Astrid in 91 years old, and it’s unclear how much of an official role, if any, Prince Sverre Magnus will have. This means that most of the jewelry that is currently spread between several people will someday come to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
The collection starts with Queen Maud, the first queen of a modern, independent Norway and also a British princess. She only had one child so all of her jewelry (after a little detour in the UK) went to her daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Märtha, who was a Swedish princess herself and brought a good amount of jewelry with her. Crown Princess Märtha passed away in 1954 and her three children decided to wait until the then Prince Harald was married in 1968 to divide it all up. When they split the jewelry up it was with the understanding that some of it would stay with Princess Ragnhild and Princess Astrid's descendants and some of it would go back to the mainline when they passed sort of like a lifetime loan.
I really hope that Princess Ingrid Alexandra decides to put the jewelry into a trust or foundation similar to the Swedish and Dutch royal families. Their system worked out well for the three siblings but you can't assume that it will always go this smoothly. Creating a foundation would not only keep the jewelry together for future generations but hopefully facilitate more jewelry sharing.
Tumblr media
Princess Ingrid Alexandra
Princess Ingeborg's Pearl Circle Tiara - This tiara was meant to be one of the pieces that stay with Princess Ragnhild's descendants but she asked her children to give it to Princess Ingrid Alexandra for her 18th birthday which was very generous.
The Inheritance
Duchess of Leuchtenberg's Emerald Tiara - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Josephine's Diamond Tiara - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Alexandra's Maltese Cross Tiara - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Alexandra's Turquoise Tiara - now with Princess Astrid
Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara - was with Princess Ragnhild
Queen Maud's Pearl Tiara (replica) - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Maud's Vifte Tiara - now with Crown Princess Mette Marit
Crown Princess Märtha's Vasa Tiara - now with Princess Astrid
Crown Princess Märtha's Emerald & Pearl Bracelet Tiara (replica) - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Sonja's Modern Gold Tiara - now with Queen Sonja
Queen Sonja's Amethyst Necklace Tiara - now with Crown Princess Mette Marit
Crown Princess Mette Marit's Diamond Daisy Tiara - now with Crown Princess Mette Marit
Tumblr media
There are also some tiaras that will not be inherited by Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Three of Princess Astrid's tiaras will stay with her children and Princess Märtha Louise's tiara will stay with hers. I have long wondered if Queen Sonja will leave her Modern Gold Tiara to Princess Märtha Louise because the style suits her and I expect her to leave some jewelry to her daughter. Now I'm less sure because Princess Märtha Louise and her daughters will have little need for a second tiara.
There's also the possibility that one of these tiaras will be left to Prince Sverre Magnus but I think it's more likely that they will buy his future wife a tiara that is convertible to other jewelry so that it is more useful for someone who will rarely wear one. She could also borrow tiaras from her sister-in-law whenever needed.
Princess Astrid
Queen Sophia's Diamond Bracelet Tiara - This is the only one I wish would be left to the mainline.
Duchess Pauline of Nassau's Gold Bandeau Tiara
Queen Maud's Aigrette Tiara
Princess Märtha Louise
Princess Märtha Louise's King Olav Gift Tiara
Lost
Queen Maud's Pearl Necklace Tiara
Queen Sophia's Pink Topaz Tiara - stolen in 1995
All of this means that when she is queen, Princess Ingrid Alexandra will have thirteen tiaras to choose from. I didn't expect the number to be that high but the Norwegian royals don't do much jewelry sharing which always makes a collection appear smaller than it is. I hope that in the future they become more flexible about sharing jewels and I also want them to be more open to sharing them with the public. The Norwegian royal family does not generally participate in books, documentaries, or exhibitions about their jewelry but they did share a photo and information about Princess Ingeborg's Pearl Circle Tiara when it was given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Princess Astrid has spoken to Isaksen about her jewelry when he wrote her biography so I am hopeful that that is changing.
