‘Hypocritical’ Barack Obama - not Donald Trump - the US president who failed spectacularly on the world stage
President Trump performed well on the international stage, in pursuing his “American first” diplomatic strategy.
In May 2018, Trump made good on his campaign promise and announced he was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear agreement, which had established a set of debatable limits on Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon for at least the next ten or fifteen years.
When other signatories signalled that they would remain in the agreement, Trump put allies on notice that European countries would face American sanctions if they did business with Iran, forcing old friends to choose between Washington and Tehran.
Trump, then rebuking President Obama’s commitment to the first comprehensive global agreement to combat man-made climate, withdrew from the Paris Agreement, which had been negotiated in December 2015.
Preserving freedom of manoeuvre and energy independence, the Trump administration made it plain that it would deal with global warming and climate change in its own way.
No. 45 reckoned it was getting late in the game anyway, and that America was well-placed to deal with the remaining strategy of mitigation and adaptation.
Making a mockery of Obama’s policy of “strategic patience” with North Korea, which is shorthand for doing nothing at all, President Trump and North Korea’s Kin Jong-Un met in Singapore in June 2018, the first summit between the leaders of the US and North Korea since the end of the 1950-3 Korean War, to resolve the nuclear crisis.
While not determining exactly what “complete denuclearisation” of the Korean Peninsula would look like, Trump single-handedly took war off the table.
It was different, as well as potentially brilliant. See link below

Rules: List 10 of your comfort shows
tagged by @he-is-lightning-in-a-bottle (thanks doll)
I rarely pass along tags but you should do this one and tag me if you do so I can see, comfort watches are my absolute FAVORITE.
This is a BL blog and I've watched most of them, so I will be picking BL. But I will only be picking BL I am rewatching for comfort right NOW.
Some of these may surprise. Ready?
My Top 10 Comfort BL's right NOW
Tumblr media
1 kiss x kiss x kiss - perfect scandal (short)
My favorite of this series because it's basically office romance sexy bits we all wanted from Old Fashion Cupcake.
Tumblr media
2 Jun & Jun
his show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smile every moment I'm watching. This is very much MY style of BL.
Tumblr media
3 Love is Science (BL cut)
Mark and Ouwen gotta be one of my all time favorite side dishes. LIS? is a noona romance with added mature side couple as well as these two, mostly interwoven. It’s a big buy in just for Mark & Ouwen but WORTH IT, and some kind soul uploaded a BL cut to YT. Everything is a touch quirky but the BL boys are beautiful, earnest, and high heat. It's one of Taiwan's favorite dynamics: the bisexual himbo meets the confident gay, but they are just LOVELY, plus tiny queer family at the end.
Tumblr media
4 2 Moons 3
What can I say, it's utter trash but there is something about the main couple I love. A Thai pulp that felt like it came out 5 yrs ago with many of the flaws inherent to that time and studio system, including manufactured angst and convoluted plot, but an ultimately sweet main couple that (as a pairing) feels a bit more modern and is satisfying to watch. This will probably go down in history as one of the few BLs where I genuinely didn’t care about any of the side couples.
Tumblr media
5 Love Class 2
But only "my couple." ( the mature student and the TA). I still hold that they probably should’ve had their own series.
Tumblr media
6 Big Dragon
I didn't love this when it first aired but I am coming around to it more on the rewatch. (I may even up its score from 7 to 8 if the eventual movie sticks the landing). This is a pairing that proved itself to be a lot more sophisticated than I expected with nods at kink in a more respectful way than Mame could ever dream, plus excellent chemistry.
Tumblr media
7 Why R U? Korea
The Korean remake of Why RU? is BOTH bizarro land, and EXACTLY what I expected. There is something comforting in watching the Cliff's notes version of a show I enjoyed before just in a different BL style. I don't know why I like this one so much, but I really do.
Tumblr media
8 Takara & Amagi
I gnawed on my knuckles and squealed a lot with this show first time around. Now I still love it but I'm more calm. It is beyond charming: soft and gentle, packed with cuteness and high school angst, thirst, & yearning.
Tumblr media
9 About Youth
A truly lovely little coming of age high school BL with a classic YA low drama but high angst and an earnest depth.
Clearly I'm having a bit of a high school phase because I've been thinking of doing this one next:
Tumblr media
10 My School President
Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but I still ADORED this. And there is a lot to be said for the classics being re-executed perfectly. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny?

Top BL of 2023
2023 is over and I felt like doing my top picks for this year again! Looking back there were a lot of good ones that I enjoyed a lot this year, and so I did not restrict myself to 5. As my sister judging me from across the couch said, "there's no rule do what you want". Fair enough.
This is from the BLs that ended in 2023, though some started in 2022.
8. Kiseki dear to me
I didn't care all that much for the main couple in the end, but Ai Di and Chen Yi? Worthy of obsession. @leofiat-bunny made a cut, for your consideration.
Tumblr media
7. Why r u? Korea
I'm an absolute fan of the original against my better judgment and I was looking forward to this one. It doesn't have much to do with the Thai version in the end but I still enjoyed it a lot, both stories.
Tumblr media
6. My school president
This was just lovely from start to finish. I really appreciated how they portrayed teenage turmoil and how soft and gentle this was.
Tumblr media
5. My Personal Weatherman/Taikan Yoho
Needed a Japanese title on that list and this one was the best of the year by far. Unhinged and horny from start to finish.
Tumblr media
4. Wedding plan
This one probably wins the top spot for best surprise of the year. I watched it late after it was completed because I didn't hear much about it but it was lovely. Wrote a fic for them.
Tumblr media
3. Be my favourite
Time travel is my weakness and those two were great together.
Tumblr media
2. Bed friend
And this one gets the price for most rewatched. So hot, very angst, obsessed with them both. Wrote not one but two pieces for this fandom, one from Uea's POV and one from King's.
Tumblr media
1. Moonlight chicken
Left me on the floor. That first ep when they walk around town lives rent free in my head. All the relationships got to me but none more than Jim and Li Ming's. And thus, another fic.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention cause I couldn't list them all
The Wrap Effect, The Eighth Sense, Love in Translation, Laws of Attraction, Bokura no Shokutaku/Our Dining Table, Hidden Agenda
Ask away for top BL things. I like lists.

State visit by President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea – programme
At the invitation of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, the president of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, will be paying a state visit to the Netherlands on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 December. He will be accompanied by his wife, Kim Keon Hee.
This is the first state visit to the Netherlands by a president of the Republic of Korea since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1961. In 2014 the King and Queen paid a state visit to the Republic of Korea. In November 2022, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and President Yoon concluded a Strategic Partnership Agreement.
Despite the geographical distance between the countries, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea are increasingly close partners. The state visit provides an opportunity to further expand our successful trade ties and to deepen their cooperation. Another agenda item is the prosperity and stability of East Asia and the Indo-Pacific region as a whole. The Netherlands and the Republic of Korea are logical partners with shared norms and values, collaborating in areas including sustainable energy, agriculture and the high-tech industry.
Tuesday 12 December
Morning
Welcome ceremony
In Dam Square in Amsterdam, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will officially welcome the Korean president and his wife to the Netherlands. After the delegations have been introduced, the ceremony will feature the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy playing the national anthems of both countries, and the inspection of the guard of honour.
At the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, representatives of the Dutch authorities will be introduced to the president, after which a reception will be held. There will also be a private lunch with the King and Queen.
Wreath laying
At the national monument in Dam Square, President Yoon will lay a wreath.
Afternoon
Visit to ASML
During a visit to ASML in Veldhoven, a dialogue session will be held featuring CEOs from the high-tech industry. The discussion will focus on Dutch-Korean cooperation on innovation, and the development of the semiconductor (microchip) industry. ASML supplies technology for semiconductor manufacturing using lithography equipment, a key export product to the Republic of Korea. The King and the president will then be given a guided tour of the cleanroom where ASML’s machines are produced. The Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will also be present for this visit.
Evening
State banquet
In the evening, the King and Queen will host a state banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Both the King and the Korean president will deliver an address.
Wednesday 13 December
Morning
Visit to the States General
On Wednesday morning, President Yoon will visit the Dutch Parliament in The Hague. There he will meet the president of the Senate, Jan Anthonie Bruijn, and the acting president of the House of Representatives.
Government lunch
At the Binnenhof, the president will be received by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, where they will discuss various matters concerning the strategic partnership between the countries, including economic security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. After various MoUs have been signed, a government lunch will be held, attended by the King.
Afternoon
Visit to the Mauritshuis
After the lunch, the president will join Prime Minister Rutte for a visit to the Mauritshuis Museum, where they will receive a guided tour of the highlights of the collection.
Meeting with veterans
Back at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, the King and President Yoon will meet with Dutch veterans of the Korean War. During the meeting they will reflect on the history of the bilateral relations between the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea.
Business Forum
During the Business Forum, a CEO roundtable will be jointly hosted by the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW) and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA). Another session will focus on ‘partnership through innovation’, with a view to linking sectors such as high-tech, the energy transition and agriculture and horticulture. Various MOUs between companies and the authorities will also be signed. The Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will be present throughout the Business Forum. The King and President Yoon will attend the Forum’s closing session, where President Yoon will give a speech.
Evening
Korean music and dance event hosted by the president and his wife
In the evening, President Yoon and his wife will host a special event for the King and Queen: a classical Korean music and dance performance at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. After the King and Queen have taken their leave of the president and his wife, the state visit will come to a close.

I was this many days old when I figured out why the US spends 13.3% of our federal budget on defense or, in easier terms, $820 billion.
It's simple we're the world's police force and military. It's true we all know it. We may not acknowledge it or like it, but we know it. The UN is famous for sending the US to conflicts all over the world. I remember clearly as kid asking my mom why they did that. There was no answer forthcoming, and that was in the 80s. But the Smurfs love calling us in because of weapon strength. Have US aircraft carrier just roll into neutral water that just happens to be off whatever small country shores that UN is having issues with. Well that usually enough of warning to get that country to knock their shit off. There was always a convenient excuse as to why the US aircraft carrier just happened to be here.
It's the same with the US getting involved in conflicts in Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, Laos and rest of that area. They did exactly the same thing in South America in the 80s, and before the 80s. In South America alone the US interfering started decades before.
Question becomes do we still need to spend that much on defense? Would we be better if the US stayed out of other countries' conflicts? What if the US had stayed out of other countries' conflicts of the past, would the world be a safer place now? How would some of those conflicts turned out? What if the US refused the UN to basically be the world's police and military from get go? What do think the world would be like now because of that decision?

I decided to write about what’s happening in Korea this pride month under the right-wing main and local governments.
Seoul Plaza is an important place, it’s the heart of Seoul. Seoul Queer Culture Festival has been always held here. And this year, as soon as the organizers of SQCF applied for the use of the place to Seoul’s city government, CTS (Christian Television System, which vocally opposed homosexuality and the festival) submitted the same application to use the site on the same day. They planned this to interrupt the festival. And the conservative government sided with CTS.
So this year, SQCF is going to be held in a different place (Euljiro streets), Meanwhile CTS is using Seoul Plaza for a “Recovery concert for youth and children”. I mean, recovery from what?? Pride month?
And there’s even more fucked up news: today, another pride festival took place in Daegu, another city in South Korea. Just the week before the festival’s scheduled day the mayor of Daegu stated he’s against the festival because the right of sexual and gender majority matters and the festival disgusts people. (Yes, He literally said that.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the fascist mayor’s statement, a scene was made just hours before the festival. A massive physical clash between local government officials and police officers. The officials attempted to stop the festival, (wow such truest ‘civil’ servants!) while police worked to ensure the safety of the legitimate rally. The police physically removed the officials from the road to clear a path for the festival trucks. The mayor convened an emergency press conference and said he will hold the chief of the Daegu police agency responsible for the acts. Since this shit happened, no one can be sure if the festival can be held next year in Daegu.
Ah… Daegu is my hometown, by the way. The most conservative city in Korea. Hi, Texas queers.
I’m so sick of this country’s right-wing governments, christian bigots, fucking fascists 🤮 it’s going worse and worse rapidly since that president Yoon’s fuckery began. Korea never sucked this much in my life.
