The Arcane fandom, especially on TikTok is never beating the allegations because why, now, some fans act like it's too inconceivable to imagine that Ambessa was, not only, pregnant twice but gave birth twice as well? And their reasoning for this is "She looks like the type to get a man pregnant instead" or "She's too tough for that, I just can't see someone like her going through that." There are layers to these statements because, for one, just because someone, especially a woman, is a dominant force doesn't mean that they can't get/don't want to become pregnant (do you believe overtly dominant men can't be fathers?) It's also very weird because the undertones of misogyny and misogynoir and the overt masculinization of black women are there because, not only are they viewing pregnancy and giving birth, in general, to be viewed as something "weak" (even though it's grueling hours of labor that results in tearing the body apart, sometimes even death) but also attempts to strip Ambessa of her nuance. Yes, she is strong and very dominant, but she also deeply loved her children, who she birthed, and when one was taken away from her it changed her deeply. It's very gross to view a character like her in this way because it also reflects how you view dominant women in real life, pregnancy, and childbirth as a whole. Like how are you going to praise Arcane for having such a wide and diverse ensemble of female characters, but then have misogynistic takes like this? Make it make sense.
#arcane#ambessa medarda#arcane ambessa#anti arcane#anti arcane fandom#bc if i said the “she gets a man pregnant bc she's girlboss” also plays into misogynistic tropes bc it not only#devoids female characters of their nuances but also frames pregnancy as something “weak” or those who go thru it as “lesser than” but always#pressing the pregnancy in question on male characters who they either ignore (so they only view pregnancy for breeding and nothing else) or#infantilize (so you only view pregnancy as happening to someone who is submissive?) there's layers to this#and bringing it back to the masculinization of black women especially dark skin women people are already viewed as#existing outside the stereotypical lens of “femininity” and that in turn includes pregnancy and childbirth (which is viewed#thru a stereotypical lens as well) and bc people already don't view black women to fit the first box they definitely don't for the other#especially if she matches ambessa's body type &/or personality#even tho a big part of ambessa's character is literally her being a mom!#and don't get me started on how some of you view mother characters as anything outside of motherhood in general#(but a part of that is also bc the media doesn't give them much at times either but fandom still gets it's lashing too!)#like lets analyze: why do you think female characters who are “too tough” can't be pregnant as well? why do you think they can't be mothers?#why do you think they are “too tough” to give birth? is it bc u subconsciously view it as a weakness?#why do you think black women especially those like ambessa can't give birth & be mothers? is it bc you have biased views towards motherhood#where it's stereotypically “feminine” (yte) and black women don't fit that mold in your mind?#like i could go on!#(if i also said back to the girlboss & get men pregnant thing how a lot of it carries undertones of misogyny as well id be wrong but-)#some of yall did the same thing with mel & continue to do so when those pregnancy rumors were coming out#masc women can give and want to give birth while still being who they are (it literally happens in real life) so why people act surprised?#tw pregnancy mention#tw childbirth mention#fandom racism#fandom misogyny

i think celebrity and influencer age kayfabe has gotten so extreme in this century that a lot of people are just going to be permanently confused about what normal human age milestones actually look like. lot of very public women "in their twenties" walking around with very clearly 40+-year-old elbows, hands, neck tendons and knee topography. and those are just the ones who don't have doctors that are clever enough to cover that shit up, which I assume most of the A list celebs are doing already with fat transfer, LED therapy, fraxel laser etc. if we ever get stem cells working on a scaled basis we'll be able to grow custom molded bioidentical fat implants and then we're really going to see some shit

I was able to figure out where some strange claim I saw long ago from someone complaining about Marvel and saying Loki can't shapeshift and the gods depend on animal skins to do so came from (despite this contradicting the myths). It came from non-Marvel norse mythology inspired comics Valhalla by Peter Madsen (which are popular in Scandinavia).
I found out because I was curious as to how they managed to make some myths "kid-friendly" and got my answer about how shapeshifting works i those comics through that.

may I have some of your Suchin head canons please? 🥹
Of course!
She’s not insecure. Like at all. Nervous? Anxiety-ridden? Embarrassed? Absolutely, but insecure? Never. She’s confident in her abilities and likes how she looks.
Refuses to wear shorts or any skirt above the knee. Pants and long skirts all the way. Doesn’t really have a reason, just doesn’t like them.
Loves a good tank top though.
Clothing stealer 100%. She didn’t own many casual clothes so most of them were taken from Kenshi’s closet.
Her Japanese wasn’t that good when she and Kenshi met, conversational at best.
Her ass cannot dance 😭 she will trip over her own feet and fall onto the floor. Her battle skill does not help, in fact it makes her lack of dancing ability even more embarrassing.
Rip Suchin you would’ve loved arguing with people online.
Takes cold, short showers.
Genuinely never saw herself being a mother. The only reason she kept Takeda is because she didn’t realize she was pregnant until late into the pregnancy. Though if anything bad were to happen to him it’d be a blood bath.
The type of person to talk to kids the way she talks to adults but with some self-censorship. This is why Takeda freaked out a lot of the Shirai Ryu when he first joined, he was talking like an incredibly blunt, awkward, paranoid adult.
More on that- while she censored herself a bit if asked she wouldn’t sugar coat it. (“Where do babies come from?” “Sex.” Sorta thing)
Refused to answer any questions about Kenshi or her past. Takeda quickly learned not to ask.

You're so right about your takes on the horse myth and MCU!Loki aborting that it. It does frustrate me a bit when MCU!Loki's motherly out of a sudden in fics that adapted some of the mythology. The way I interpret him, I can't see him having a biological child willingly after the events of T1 (cue his intense self-hatred and issues), and if he had a kid it'd be one he found amidst devastation (just like he was).
Yes exactly!! Honestly, I feel like post-T1 Loki's self-loathing and alienation from his body are bad enough that he might struggle even to be sexually active (not that it's exactly his priority in canon lol), so the idea of him intentionally having biological children is just... wild to me.
But also, while this isn't a subject I seek out... In my limited experience, people often seem to make it happen *pre-canon*? And I can't see that happening *either*.
The thing is... Thor and Loki are young. They are, just about, adults, but the fact remains that they're living with their parents, subject to their parents' authority, and acting quite a lot like overgrown teenagers. They're reckless young warriors trying to make a name for themselves by risking their lives on a regular basis. Nothing about how they act suggests that they yet want, or consider themselves ready for, children of their own.
Also, from a Doylist perspective, the story is so much About Family, and the characters are so defined by their roles as Mother, Father, Elder Son, and Younger Son that giving one of the sons children of his own out of the blue throws everything off.
To be fair, I think most people who give Loki a secret pre-canon spouse and/or children know that this is a drastic reframing of the character. It's just that they're interested in that reframing, and I'm not.
And as for the "motherly" thing... well.
For one thing, I really don't like how widespread it is to refer to Loki as a "mother" *purely* because they've written him carrying children. "But it's because Loki's genderfluid!" Then call Loki "she" and "woman" too, cowards! A self-identified man who reluctantly adopts the term mother because it's allegedly biologically accurate isn't genderfluid representation, it's bioessentialism.
And the actual "motherly" (gentle, caring, etc) side of things... Yeah, I can't really see that either. Like, sure, Loki is a complicated character. He IS a lot more affectionate and protective than his surface-level characterisation suggests, so it's not like it's 100% baseless. But it still won't feel right to me unless the complexity is retained.
For one thing, there's the Jotun self-(and-other-)loathing. And for another... Loki hates vulnerability. He hates feeling tied to anyone else. He has pre-existing trauma with his body being altered against his will. He had pre-existing baggage about gender non-conformity (as something he's probably been both punished for and threatened with). Pregnancy will be nightmarish for Loki. I can't imagine him choosing not to have an abortion... so I can't imagine him being pregnant willingly. It could be force, or it could just be bad luck, but it won't be a happy story.
I do think it could be in character (and interesting!) for him to be reluctantly fond of a (potential) child... but in a very conflicted way where his aversion to that affection borders on horror. It's a huge part of Loki's character that he loves people he wishes he didn't love, and that he's trying and failing to escape his family bonds. An unwanted pregnancy is just another layer of that, and will make all his problems worse. This story wants to be horror! Make it horror!!!
...
All complaints aside, I do enjoy the idea of Loki adopting an abandoned child. (Especially if they're old enough to talk and be a nuisance at the point when he adopts them.) I think we might still need a bit of narrative coercion / forced proximity to make it happen, but I think he's much more likely to be willing if his own anatomy is not involved.

I wonder how Shannon looks at her choice for elves to all be thin and wrinkle-less and grey haired-less now that she’s 40 with two kids.

Hey, heads up for other disabled people planning on being parents at some point: trying to conceive feels a LOT like being undiagnosed, so like... get ready for that when you're getting ready to have a kid. I still think it's worth it, but like, man it sucks.

It’s VERY important for me to get up on the weekends and do my skincare, put on something that makes me feel “beautiful” and moisturize my hair. Look at myself in the mirror and smile while I tell myself how beautiful I am. It’s important for me not to fall into that “I’m unattractive” state because it’s easy to fall into, especially while pregnant. Now I do feel like I’m beautiful until I take pictures sometimes lol. I’m one of those “catch me in person” people some days, because the pictures don’t do me justice. My whole pregnancy I have made sure to put myself first and remember to GET CUTE. I heard a TikTok that said “look your best no matter where you’re going, no matter what you’re doing, look your best. Etcc” & that stuck with me. Even before I knew I was pregnant. So everyday when I’m leaving the house I look my best. Now after my little bundle comes I don’t know how I’ll feel/look, but right now I’m making sure to prioritize myself.
So to those that have told me I’m glowing, how beautiful I am, how nice I look, etcccc.
THANK YOU 😊
A compliment goes a long way, that’s why I always do my best to compliment others 🤍
Thank you to my little bundle because baby, mommy skin has been skinning 😮‍💨🥰😂

The most fucked up thing in my head is not my ed.
The most fucked up thing in my head is the fact that I want to be as skinny as humanly possible while also having a really bad pregnancy kink.
Make it make sense...

doodle prompt: newt at around the middle stage of his own pregnancy Gently Holding™️ another baby, maybe one of Fawn's?? bonus points if he has mushy feelings about it💜
"She'll warm up to you, kiddo, I promise. Just give her some time..."
From an AU @surrogate-fawn and I made of our characters, as apposed to their main universe (which is being written from Fawn's POV by Mun! Go check it out!!). What if Fawn gave birth to a baby she didn't know she was having five months after Newt showed her his positive pregnancy test?
I'm sorry this took so long to be made, work has been kicking my ass! Hopefully I'll be able to get back into the creative mindset!
