Where's the Mother? by Trevor MacDonald
In a time when to most people “pregnancy” automatically means “motherhood,” what is it like to get pregnant, give birth, and breastfeed a child all while being an out transgender man?
When Trevor MacDonald decided to start a family, he knew that the world was going to have questions for him. As a transgender man in a gay relationship, Trevor has gone through the journeys of pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing all while exploring (and sometimes defending) his role as a trans dad. Trevor and his partner tackle all the questions new parents are familiar with (Should we feed our baby breast milk or formula? Should we have a hospital or home birth?) and others perhaps unfamiliar (How can a man cope with gender dysphoria when going through such female-coded rituals as childbirth and breastfeeding? How can a person breastfeed after having had chest masculinization surgery? How do we find donor milk to supplement our own modest milk supply?).
Luckily for the reader, Trevor explains his own answers to these questions with grace and humour. His stories convey the intimate and sometimes surprising realities of the transgender parenting experience. This memoir is a book about being a breastfeeding parent and a transgender man, and the many beautiful, moving, and difficult ways these two identities collide. It is a story that shows that pregnancy and parenting go beyond all preconceptions we might have about ourselves. “Where’s the Mother?” is a memoir about love and family like no other.

I know this is kinda dumb but as of now, we will be TTC starting in June (I want to be taking the preconception + prenatal supplements for the full 3 months before we start).
We conceived Sky on July ~8th or so. She was due on April 6, born on March 31st.
I really don’t want kids with birthdays that are close together. And I KNOW I most likely will not get pregnant right away. But… what if I do??? If you have 2 or more kids and their birthdays are within 1-60 days apart, do you hate it???? If you could have the same child but just change their birthday so they are further apart, would you prefer that??? 😅 (dumb, I know)
My brother and I have birthdays 6 months apart and it’s ideal to me. My husband has 4 sisters and THREE of them have birthdays in July. I really don’t enjoy being there in July lol it’s like every week is dedicated to a SIL’s birthday and it’s 💰
I don’t know, I don’t think I would push off our TTC date because eh, let the universe do what it wants but I’ve waited this long, maybe just 1 extra month? 🤷🏽♀️

Mono~poly - AU Information
Premise: What happens when something that was supposed to be just fun turns into something real? When true love enters the equation between two people who view the very concept of love in different ways, can it work? In this alternate universe, we'll follow Casey and Tobias (and some others along the way) on their journey, where a happy ending is what both desire, but (as in life) nothing is guaranteed.
Fandom: Open Heart, Choices—However, this series does not require extensive knowledge of the original story.
Series Masterlist
Mono~Poly Characters
A/N: I came up with the idea for this story because I was fascinated by the idea of mono/poly pairings - relationships where one party is polyamorous, but the other is (by choice) monogamous. I initially planned a short series with a distinct beginning, middle, and end. But the more I researched and developed it, I realized there were a lot of areas and topics I wanted to cover. I no longer envisioned a short story that could be tied up quickly and easily; I wanted to delve into a different world and show a loving couple in a relationship that faces everyday challenges, and some rather unique ones, too. We'll follow their growth, individually and together. Their relationship will last a lifetime, but the nature of that relationship will fluctuate... and how it ends remains to be seen - even to me. :)
This is an alternate universe that I hope to write for on an ongoing basis. It is not connected in any way to my HC for Tobias/Casey or for any of my Ethan content.
Works will typically be in a sequential chapter format, but down the line, there may be one-offs that deviate from that. This is a work in progress.
A/N 2: This universe will deal with issues that many have very black and white views on. Note: I prefer to live in grey. There are no one-size-fits-all answers, especially when it comes to personal relationships. I don't buy into the edict that monogamy is the only "right" way. There are healthy and unhealthy monogamous relationships, just as there are healthy and unhealthy polyamorous ones. There will never be one "right" way to have a relationship, and each person has the right to find what works best for them and their partner(s). Once that's decided, they should be allowed to live their lives free of judgment. Unfortunately, more often than not, that's not the case.
Your beliefs and preconceptions will likely impact how you view this series. However, I urge you to keep an open mind. There will be more notes as we go along, but remember the basics: Consensual non-monogamy is not cheating. It's a decision agreed upon by all parties involved—but that does not mean it's simple. As with all types of relationships, there will be mistakes made and rash decisions that have consequences.
I want to be as realistic as possible, so you will see characters who are judgmental and some who are on a learning curve. Sometimes, their ignorance will be based on bias/prejudice (even hatred), but sometimes, it'll be societal conditioning and lack of understanding/empathy. Nothing in this work will be a judgment call on my part—I'm just doing my best to portray this world in a realistic, non-fatastical light.
I will be providing information on original characters and other additional supplements as the series progresses.

I've been walking with the little one as much as we can fit into the schedule. She loves the park. One of the big recommendations for best possible preconception with VBAC aspirations is to walk between 1 and 3 miles per day. I'm not sure if I've reached that yet, but I'm making strides (ba dum tss 🥁 😅). I've been more intentional about incorporating some scar tissue massage into my daily routine as well. I am also going to start making raspberry leaf tea daily, and am looking into some skin serum options and a liquid collagen supplement. Let's see what I can really do when I make daily, intentional choices for my health.

Unlocking the Potential: Exploring the Profound Benefits of Preconception Care
Preconception care is crucial in preparing for a healthy pregnancy and future. It helps prevent birth defects, reduces maternal and child health risks, and ensures better outcomes for both parents and their offspring.
Understanding Preconception Care:
Preconception care encompasses a range of interventions and measures aimed at optimizing the health of individuals of reproductive age before conception occurs. It involves addressing various factors that could impact fertility, pregnancy, and the health of the baby. These factors include lifestyle choices, medical history, nutritional status, and environmental exposures, among others.
Preventing Birth Defects:
One of the primary benefits of preconception care is its role in preventing birth defects. Certain birth defects, such as neural tube defects (e.g., spina bifida) and congenital heart defects, can be influenced by factors present before conception. Adequate intake of folic acid, avoidance of harmful substances like alcohol and tobacco, and management of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes can significantly reduce the risk of birth defects.
Preventing Unplanned Pregnancies:
Preconception care also plays a crucial role in family planning and preventing unplanned pregnancies. By providing individuals with information and access to contraception, preconception care empowers them to make informed choices about their reproductive health. This helps in spacing pregnancies appropriately, allowing couples to better prepare for parenthood and optimize health outcomes for both mother and child.
Reducing Maternal and Child Morbidity and Mortality: gynaecology
Optimizing maternal health before conception can significantly reduce the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Preconception care focuses on managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, which can pose serious risks to maternal and fetal health if left uncontrolled. By addressing these risk factors early on, preconception care helps reduce maternal morbidity and mortality rates, ensuring safer pregnancies and healthier outcomes for both mother and child.
Preventing Preterm Birth, Low Birth Weight, and Stillbirth:
Preconception care interventions aimed at improving maternal health and addressing risk factors can also help prevent adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preterm birth, low birth weight, and stillbirth. Women who enter pregnancy with optimal health and well-controlled medical conditions are less likely to experience complications that could lead to these adverse outcomes. Proper nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle modifications recommended during preconception care contribute to better pregnancy outcomes and promote the healthy development of the baby.

Preparing Your Body for Pregnancy: Essential Steps
Preparing your body for pregnancy is crucial for optimizing your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby. Whether you're considering natural conception or exploring assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF, there are several key steps you can take to ensure your body is in the best possible condition for pregnancy.
1. Consult with a Specialist
Before embarking on your journey to pregnancy, it's wise to consult with a fertility specialist. An IVF centre in Delhi, such as SCI IVF Hospital, can provide expert guidance tailored to your specific needs. These professionals can assess your reproductive health and offer personalized advice on how to prepare your body for pregnancy.
2. Maintain a Healthy Diet
A balanced diet rich in essential nutrients supports overall health and fertility. Focus on consuming a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Important nutrients for fertility include folic acid, iron, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Consider consulting with a nutritionist who can help you create a diet plan that supports both your general health and reproductive goals.
3. Exercise Regularly
Regular physical activity is beneficial for maintaining a healthy weight and reducing stress, both of which play a role in fertility. Aim for moderate exercise like walking, swimming, or cycling. However, avoid excessive exercise, as it can negatively impact your reproductive health.
4. Manage Stress
High levels of stress can affect your menstrual cycle and ovulation. Incorporate stress-reducing activities into your routine, such as yoga, meditation, or deep-breathing exercises. Managing stress is an important part of preparing your body for pregnancy.
5. Get Regular Check-Ups
Routine health check-ups are essential for identifying and addressing any underlying health issues. Schedule visits with your healthcare provider to monitor your overall health and discuss any concerns related to your reproductive system. If you have any existing conditions, such as thyroid disorders or diabetes, it's important to manage them effectively.
6. Avoid Harmful Substances
Eliminate or reduce your intake of substances that can negatively impact fertility, such as alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco. Also, be mindful of medications and supplements that might affect your reproductive health. Always consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes.
7. Consider Preconception Counseling
Preconception counseling at a reputable IVF hospital in Delhi, like SCI IVF Hospital, can provide you with valuable information on preparing for pregnancy. This counseling typically includes discussions about your medical history, lifestyle factors, and any genetic concerns.
8. Maintain a Healthy Weight
Both underweight and overweight conditions can affect fertility. Aim for a healthy weight range for your height and body type. If you are unsure about your weight or need help with weight management, consider speaking with a healthcare provider or a dietitian.
Conclusion
Preparing your body for pregnancy involves a combination of healthy lifestyle choices, regular medical care, and personalized advice from experts. By following these steps and consulting with a specialized IVF centre in Delhi, such as SCI IVF Hospital, you can enhance your chances of a successful conception and a healthy pregnancy. Taking proactive steps now can make a significant difference in your fertility journey and overall well-being.

Yes, some studies have found that women with low vitamin D levels have an increased risk of miscarriage. For example, a 2018 NIH study found that women with sufficient vitamin D levels before conception were 15% more likely to have a live birth than those with insufficient levels. The study also found that for every 10 nanogram per milliliter increase in vitamin D levels before conception, the risk of pregnancy loss decreased by 12%. A 2022 study published in Fertility & Sterility also found a significant association between vitamin D levels and the risk of miscarriage. The study's lead author, Dr. Jennifer Tamblyn, recommended vitamin D supplements because they are safe and inexpensive.

Women who had sufficient preconception vitamin D concentrations were 10 percent more likely to become pregnant and 15 percent more likely to have a live birth, compared to those with insufficient concentrations of the vitamin. Among women who became pregnant, each 10 nanogram per milliliter increase in preconception vitamin D was associated with a 12-percent lower risk of pregnancy loss. Vitamin D levels in the eighth week of pregnancy were not linked to pregnancy loss. The authors note that the study does not prove cause and effect.

Some studies suggest that low levels of vitamin D in the blood may increase the risk of postpartum depression (PPD). Women with PPD have lower vitamin D levels than women without depression, and women with vitamin D levels below 20 ng/ml are 3.3 times more likely to have PPD. Correcting vitamin D deficiency may also help with PPD recovery.

Many women find that they need at least 2,000-3,000 IUs of cholecalciferol, which is vitamin D3 (a form that is very readily absorbed) throughout the winter months. Additionally, they can try and get 10-15 minutes of direct sunlight to the face and arms every day of the week.

The Relationship Between Vitamin D and Postpartum Depression ...
The mean level of vitamin D of women with postpartum depression was lower than that in normal women (16.89±7.05 vs. 21.28±7.13, p=0.001). More than 53% of women with postpartum depression had vitamin D <20 ng/ml compared to 31.7% of women with no depression (p=0.005). Moreover, 16.7% of women with postpartum depression had vitamin D < 10ng/ml compared to only 6.7% in the normal group (p = 0.005). Women with vitamin D less than 20ng/ml compared to vitamin D > 20ng/ml were 3.30 times more likely to have postpartum depression (OR: 3.3, CI: 1.32–8.24, p= 0.01).
Here are some ways to treat vitamin D deficiency:
Take supplements: Pregnant women can take prenatal vitamins that contain about 400 IU of vitamin D per tablet. If a deficiency is identified, additional supplements of 1000–2000 IU per day may be considered. According to Holick et al., taking a high dose supplement for 6–8 weeks can help build adequate vitamin D reserves in the blood.
Increase sun exposure: Try to get 10–15 minutes of direct sunlight on your face and arms every day.
Eat vitamin D-rich foods: Eat foods that contain vitamin D or are fortified with it.
Vitamin D is important for brain development and function, and it may affect PPD through its impact on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, serotonin, estradiol, and pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, some reviews of vitamin D in the perinatal period have reported conflicting results.

So tattoos can cause major issues with overall health......
So the end result here. It shows clearly people with tattoos have shorter life expectancies, but they also have all kinds of life issues.....
A 2014 study found that people with tattoos may die earlier than those without, with a mean age of death of 39 years compared to 53 years for those without tattoos. However, the study also noted that people with tattoos tend to be more risk-taking, such as using drugs and alcohol, which can also contribute to a shorter lifespan. The study also found that the presence of any tattoo was more significant than the content of the tattoo, and that negative messages in tattoos were associated with nonnatural death.

Do Tattoos Have Long-Term Effects on Our Bodies?
Jun 15, 2022 — Let's take a look at common questions you may have about the long-term effects of tattoos! Do Tattoos Shorten Your Life? No, tattoos do not take years off your life. There was a study done in 2014 that did suggest that people with tattoos, on average, have a shorter lifespan. Obviously, there are millions of variables that go into a study like that, but the takeaway is that tattoo-havers also tend to be higher on the risk-taking chart. Risk takers, according to the study, are people who use drugs and alcohol. Risk-takers tend to have a shorter life span than people who only drink orange juice and water.

The medium, not the message. How tattoos correlate with early mortality
Tattoos can also have other short-term and long-term effects on your life, including:
Short-term
Tattoos can limit your ability to use sunbeds or bright sunshine for a few weeks, and you should avoid long immersion in water for a time. You should also coat your tattoo in sun cream if you can't keep it out of the sun for the first month.
Long-term
Some tattoo inks may contain carcinogenic compounds, and tattoos can also cause skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, and lichen planus. Non-sterile tattoo practices can also lead to the transmission of blood diseases like HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis.
So I'm letting you know when you make these choices and go against the Bible. The Bible's trying to tell you to do the right thing, so you can have the best life possible. But you think you're winning by going against the bible only because you're ignorant......

7 Essential Things You Should Always Discuss with Your Gynecologist
Visiting a gynecologist is crucial for maintaining your overall health and well-being. To make the most of your appointments, it’s important to discuss specific topics that can help your gynecologist provide the best care possible. Here are seven essential things you should always bring up during your visit.
1. Menstrual Cycle and Irregularities
Discussing your menstrual cycle with your gynecologist can provide insights into your reproductive health. Share details about the regularity, duration, and intensity of your periods. If you experience any irregularities, such as missed periods, heavy bleeding, or severe cramps, make sure to mention them. These could be indicators of underlying health conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid issues, or uterine fibroids. Understanding your menstrual health can help your gynecologist tailor treatments and provide recommendations to manage symptoms effectively. Click to watch for More information on managing common menstrual problems.
2. Contraception and Family Planning
Whether you’re looking to start a family or avoid pregnancy, talking about contraception and family planning is essential. Your gynecologist can help you choose the best birth control method based on your health, lifestyle, and preferences. Options range from oral contraceptives and intrauterine devices (IUDs) to implants and permanent solutions like tubal ligation. They can also guide you through preconception planning, offering advice on nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes to ensure a healthy pregnancy when you’re ready.
3. Sexual Health and Libido
Your sexual health is an important aspect of your overall well-being. Discuss any concerns you may have about your libido, sexual activity, or any discomfort during intercourse. Your gynecologist can offer solutions and treatments for common issues like vaginal dryness, pain, or infections. They can also provide guidance on safe sex practices, prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and address any psychological factors affecting your sexual health. Open communication can help you maintain a healthy and satisfying sexual life.
4. Screenings and Vaccinations
Regular screenings and vaccinations are vital for preventing serious health conditions. Make sure to ask your gynecologist about Pap smears, HPV tests, and mammograms. These screenings can detect cervical cancer, breast cancer, and other potential issues early, significantly improving treatment outcomes. Additionally, discuss vaccinations such as the HPV vaccine, which can protect against certain types of cancers, and the flu shot, which is important for overall health, especially during pregnancy.
5. Pelvic Pain and Discomfort
If you experience any pelvic pain or discomfort, it’s important to bring it up with your gynecologist. Pelvic pain can be caused by various conditions, including endometriosis, fibroids, or infections. By discussing your symptoms, your gynecologist can perform necessary examinations and tests, such as ultrasounds or laparoscopy, to determine the cause and provide appropriate treatment. Early intervention can prevent complications and improve your quality of life.
6. Hormonal Changes and Menopause
Hormonal changes can have a significant impact on your health, particularly during menopause. Discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing, such as hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, or changes in menstrual patterns. Your gynecologist can offer advice on managing these symptoms, which may include lifestyle changes, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), or other medications. Understanding the changes your body is going through can help you navigate this transition more comfortably and maintain your overall health.
7. Family History and Genetic Concerns
Your family’s medical history can provide valuable information about your own health risks. Share any history of conditions like breast cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or other gynecological issues with your gynecologist. This information can help them recommend appropriate screenings, such as genetic testing for BRCA mutations, and preventive measures to keep you healthy. Being proactive about your health by understanding your genetic risks can lead to early detection and better management of potential issues.
Conclusion
Having open and honest conversations with your gynecologist is essential for maintaining your reproductive and overall health. By discussing these seven important topics, you can ensure that you receive comprehensive and personalized care.
