He always tried to appear unharmed when he entered the house. But his eyes and the slight twitch of his brow revealed how much his body ached with each step he took. You could never sleep when he never returned home, knowing he was out there in the city - likely injured.

When he did finally return home, you had the first aid kit that was bigger than the average households, but you wanted to be prepared for anything. And when he returned home, his hand on his side, you were by his side immediately, guiding him to the sofa.

Carter sighed as he took of his shirt, wincing and you stepped in to help him.

His eyes were on the floor as you dabbed the solution against his cuts, missing the way your eyes teared up at the sight of the bruises littering his side. He knew you wanted answers, so he explained what happened during their latest showdown with Vypra and how the team had lost the fight that night.

You blinked them away, turning to fetch a bandage from the kit, wrapping it around his waist. Once you were satisfied that he was going to be alright, you packed everything away, and took the bag to the cupboard in the hallway, letting a few tears fall.

You went to the bathroom, closing the door quietly, before sitting on the edge of the bathtub, covering your mouth as you let more tears fall.

You hadn't realized how much time had passed until Carter knocked on the door. "Everything alright in there?"

You wiped your cheeks, "Y-Yeah, I'll be out in a minute."

Carter's eyebrows furrowed when he heard the tremble in your voice, turning the handle, entering when it was unlocked. You turned, drying your tears on a towel.

"Y/N..." His concerned eyes met your teary ones.

He reached out to rbing you to his chest, but you moved away, shaking your head. "You should watch what you're doing -"

"I can hug my girlfriend." Carter brought you into a warm embrace, kissing your head. He noticed the way your hands hesitantly rested on his back and knew why you had hidden away. "I'm fine."

"I counted twenty six bruises, and at least five cuts. You are not fine."

Carter sighed, pressing his lips against your temple.

"One day I won't be enough..." You began, making him pull away to meet your gaze. "One day I'm afraid that you won't come back at all."

"I'll always come back." Carter placed his hands on your arms. "I promise."

You stepped away, "Don't make promises you can't keep, Carter." You walked away, heading upstairs and Carter sighed as he watched you go.

He steered clear for twenty minutes before coming upstairs, getting changed into his pyjamas, looking at you over his shoulder as he sat on the bed. You laid with your back turned to him, not sparing him a glance.

"You're right. I can't promise that I will always come back because each threat is different - stronger even. But I'll always fight to return home to you." As he spoke, he laid down behind you, placing a hand on your arm. "I love you." He kissed your shoulder and you closed your eyes, holding back fresh tears.

You turned around to meet his gaze, "I love you too."

Carter placed a hand on your cheek, kissing you tenderly. He wrapped his arms around you when you both pulled away, and you rested your head on his chest gently.

You were always concerned for his wellbeing during his day job as a fireman, but when he told you he had joined the Rangers, you were far from thrilled - aware the danger he would be facing was different. The mosters he was facing were reported on the news, and you feared that one day Vypra would succeed and you would be waiting for a man who would never return home.

But you knew that no matter what happened, Carter would go through hell if it meant seeing you again.

Imagine Olympius taking note of your flirting with the male Rangers before the Red Ranger, concerned for your safety, asks you to retreat. 

You didn’t seem to be tied down to anyone, if your casual teasing was anything to go by. Perhaps you were dating all of them. Olympius wanted to learn more.

After capturing everyone besides Carter, the prince decided to use their forms not just to infiltrate the Aquabase, but study you.

But who to impersonate first? It was a tough call. He’d definitely try both the Green and Blue Ranger. If you became his consort, he’d make love to you in his current, princely form. But Prince Olympius would gladly use his defeated enemies’ appearances to spice things up. If you wished. 

Blue, he decided, impressing his underlings as the Star Power cycled through transformations. You did chat up the Blue Ranger first. So Olympius would try to hook up with you as Chad first. He was definitely going to try Joel afterwards, though. Maybe you’d ask him to leave the hat on.

Lightspeed Rescue 6-8

Difficult to put into words the emotion of seeing the rangers beat the monster from the sentai episode being adapted in the first 2 minutes, then stop at a rumbling sound in the distance...wait...what's that...?

Cut from the ancient demon Mad Max car reveal directly to the OP. Howling.

Although the funny thing is the vehicle fights with this goofy thing are really quite good. All three of these episodes had good original action--7 had two ranger teams going at it in a real nice bit of character-through-action, and 8 gave Chad's actor--in addition to some characterisation finally--a chance to really flex his martial arts skills.

anyway I knew there was an episode where they try to replace the team with robot rangers but I assumed it would be like...they don't have the power of the human heart...! and they say that but the actual core of the episode is clearly that when this motherfucker turns up and says "the US government has built its own power rangers, and they're programmed only for combat", that is Scary

So hey, points?

The preview for 8 made it seem like an old martial arts rival was gonna turn back up for some heated drama "I never could defeat him" accidental yaoi, but it turns out no, it's literally just some random guy who drives up and goes "oh shit that's the blue ranger. I have a sudden need to beat his ass". which is a different kind of accidental yaoi I suppose even if his girlfriend kept daring him to (where did she go at the end??).

Also just look at this dipshit. Yeah he looks like a Brian. If you haven't seen this show and are imagining a blue ranger named Chad as equally Some Fuckin Guy, no he's actually kind of hunky.

Anyway Kelsey in this one is only reinforcing my interpretation of her as a Manic Pixie ADHD Lesbian. She got a full-on stammering tsundere moment out of their head tech lady Joel's been spending the whole show failing to date, and ends the ep promising to teach Chad how to chat up girls, which is clearly meant to be "I, a girl, know how girls like to be talked to", but all her scenes so far just make it seem like a specialty of hers.

Very cool to look at, but also kinda confusing? So it goes.

On looking it up, this one guest-stars a face role for Tanaba Chie, normally a suit/stunt actor. Her most recognisable role was as one of Kakuranger's Flower Kunoichi, but she also suit-acted Dappu from Carranger and the Tackle Boy robot from Ohranger--

Which explains why they engineered a scene where she's lined up with four suited rangers doing Sentai Team Moves like she's trained for them, which she is--but it's a real headscratcher story-wise. They have it so a monster's power causes her to absorb GoPink's "power", but that doesn't let her actually transform, because the changer was made for Matsuri. So...what "power"? The GoGoV aren't mystical warriors, they're just rescue workers in special hazard suits. They don't have super-strength out of suit or anything, but...I guess for this episode they do? Or something? Most of what she does with the "powers" is acrobatics and shooting a pistol.

I'm not trying to be an Ummm Plot Hole! person here, it's just pretty apparent how much it's awkwardly stretching to accomodate "look we really wanna have Tanaba Chie doing sentai moves sans helmet", and hey, fair enough.

Oh yeah, and is this the first season where they swap around who says the Important Lines and initiates the roll-call/finisher based on whose episode it is? It's always a cool idea.

Also, I can't stop thinking about how this line in the OP is almost a direct quote from the Quran. It's a good sentiment.

I am considering doing a power rangers and Danny phantom cross over au and don’t know which of the following would be better

Anton and Vlad being business partners for something and Trent and Dani having a conversation about the thing their dads want them to be

Lightspeed Rescue rangers working with the guys in white to catch Danny

Mystic force trying to fix the ghost problem in amity park once and for all and getting told off by each member of team phantom about staying in their own lane with magical nonsense

Dani running into operation overdrive multiple times on her travels and becoming an informant for what the villains are up to due to her own evil up bringing

Do you ever think about the fact that people in the power rangers world know damn well the US government opened a gate to hell and then recruited five of the most queer coded character in the show to fight demons. Like imagine watching the news one day and it’s the damn president telling everyone that the navy screwed up and now they are fighting demons over who has the rights to a piece of land (that the demons had first and just wanted their home back). The demons don’t even want the world they just their piece of land back. Like imagine knowing tax dollars were spent on putting people in magic tights and fighting the hordes of hell over who has the rights to San Francisco. Also the demons stole a kid and raised it into the worse case of an identity crisis ever and the military is just like, yes this is the one we want to have the most dangerous weapons when he finally changes sides back to humanity.

Honestly if someone told me there was an evil ranger named Virgel I would laugh and ask if it’s the same guy who a. plays Eric Myers and B. if he’s voiced by the guy who voices Vergil from DMC becahse those two things are correlated in only 1 way

FIRST: I KNOW THAT UR POINTING THAT OUT BC YKNOW. ERIC MYERS = DAN SOUTHWORTH = VERGIL. BUT I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO MILDLY SCREAM ABT POWER RANGERS AND DMC FOR A LITTLE BC THE FUCKING CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE TWO THINGS MAKES ME SCREAM

SECOND: Virgil being the name of the Red Psycho Ranger is a thing they brought up in the comics, specifically uhhhh Power Rangers: The Psycho Path which got published in ~2019-ish, which i will get to IN A MOMENT I PROMISE EVERYTHING I AM GONNA SAY IS GONNA BE RELEVANT.

now THIRD: everyone and their mom is p much aware of the fact that Dan Southworth = Eric Myers = Vergil Devil May Cry, and they are also aware of the fact that a lot of Power Rangers actors are VAs for DMC characters, which i find fucking HILARIOUS bc DMC and Power Rangers, if you really think about it, are only a few steps away from becoming each other. Power Rangers is campy and cheesy and has Cartoon Violence(TM) and even Lightspeed Rescue had demons in it and a whole plot about siblings being separated and then reunited due to the involvement of said demons. Meanwhile DMC is a campy fun romp also featuring demons, except is significantly more violent and hurts my feelings A LOT MORE.

The last thing Chad expected that afternoon was to be ambushed. The sun was shining and he was lying on the grass soaking it in while you quietly sang a song you had in your head all morning.

"Okay." You spoke up once you had completed the crown and Chad leaned on his elbows, looking over at you to find you had made a flower crown, placing it on your head. "What do you think?"

It was a rare occurance for your schedules to coencide - sharing the same day off - unless it was the weekdend but even then time was short as Chad claimed he had many 'work emergencies' when in actuality he had a 'ranger' emergency.

Chad hadn't felt so relaxed in four months - since he became the Blue Ranger. You did not know this, however, you knew that the weight he was carrying on his shoulders had gotten heavier and so you planned a date in the park to help take his mind off of it. And it worked.

"You look beautiful." He smiled softly, and you returned the smile.

You leaned in to kiss him tenderly in what was meant to be a chaste kiss, feeling his hand on your cheek, another on your back, as he prolonged the kiss. You giggled against his lips when he laid down, bringing you with him.

It was then Chad heard them. Seconds before the Batlings could strike, Chad got to his feet, pulling you with him. You held onto his arm that was around your waist, moving you behind him as the Batlings formed a line.

"What are those things?"

Chad noticed your flower crown on the ground, a Batling stepping on it a moment later as it grew closer, clenching his jaw as the symbol of the peaceful bliss you had been in for two hours was destroyed. "Run."

You gasped when he ran towards the Batlings, calling his name. A Batling came running towards you and you ran off, hiding in the trees and when it couldn't find you it returned to Chad. You observed from a distance as Chad fought the foot soldiers, your eyes widening when he morphed.

While you were distracted, a Batling snuck up behind you and you threw your arms around, kicking the foot soldier as it dragged you out into the open. You thumped your fists on it's shoulders and landed on the ground. Chad destroyed the Batling before it could capture you again and you stared up at him as he demorphed, your lips parting in shock.

Chad sent you a small smile, holding a hand out to you. "Let's go." He helped you to your feet, his eyes checking you for injuries. "Are you okay?"

"I think so...You - the suit - those things -"

"I can explain everything." Chad assured you, a sigh leaving his lips. "It'll be a relief to finally be able to tell you the truth."

He took your hand and you stared up at him as he led you back to the spot you had been resting in before the attack, taking a seat next to him on the grass as he began to explain. You couldn't believe it. Your boyfriend was the Blue Ranger. You didn't know whether to be afraid or proud - perhaps you were feeling both, but all you knew in that moment was you were stunned by his revelation.

"I wanted to tell you everything as soon as it happened -"

"But you had to keep it a secret. I get it." You smiled softly and his shoulders relaxed when you placed a hand on his arm. "My boyfriend a superhero. And here I thought you couldn't beat caring about animals."

Chad chuckled, lowering his gaze to the ground as he shook his head. You placed a hand on his cheek and he met your gaze that held such fondness that it made his heart race. He closed the distance between you, his hand rising to your cheek as your lips met.

And as he laid down, his arms wrapping around you, you were back where you started before the Batlings had interupted.
