Meet New Zealand's Hana-Rawhiti Kareariki Maipi-Clarke. She's an MP in NZ's parliament. Her haka is in protest of a bill that would have taken rights afforded to the tribes and applied them to all New Zealanders (defeating the purpose of the Treaty of Waitangi).
She is 22 years old, and this isn't the first time she's done it.

Hanami loves her friends dearly… even though she doesn’t quite show it… peace and love on the planet earth…
Just because her facial expressions can't show how she feels, doesn't mean she doesn't show her love and care for her friends in different ways! (I mean, for fuck sakes, she went up against Gojo alone and on a whim just to save Jogo!)
She shows her care more through action. They all do honestly! But she also just gives out a ton of support, kinda like a beam that holds up a house, one that you don't see but you appreciate even if you don't realize it (and might sometimes take for granted).
I can see Mahito being a lot more verbal with his love and care for the rest. Definitely still touchy (giving hugs and kisses, either out of actual care or to annoy/piss off his friends), but is also ready to give out compliments and praise (though sometimes these are backhanded, it can be hard to tell because he uses the same or similar tone every time).
While Jogo is more of a tsundere, kinda. When dealing with his friends bullshit he is quick to fly off the handle and get mad, but he is never going to actually try and hurt them (just screaming and chasing, possibly a couple rough hits if he catches them, and by them most of the time it is Mahito).
But he can also show his care in a passive way, such as letting everyone huddle close to him if they are in colder area (especially Hanami who I can see getting a bit tired in the cold when not in a fight or on a mission or something). And just letting Mahito or Dagon have their fun roasting stuff over his head (something he would never willingly tolerate with anyone else that wasn't a friend).
Then Dagon is a more go-with-the flow kind of character (pre-evolved especially) and is always ready to follow whichever one of their friends they choose that moment. I also see them as having an "acts of service" kind of love language? If that makes sense.
Like domain expansion can take a lot out of the caster, and here Dagon is keeping it active for who knows how long just so their friends can have a nice beach spot to hang out in while they gossip and chit chat (plan world chaos). Dagon is absolutely showing love through helping their friends.
So Hanami and Dagon are the two that show their love and care through actions the most, while Mahito shows love through both action and speech, and Jogo shows it through action and inaction with some speech.
That's not even to mention their powers showing their emotions! Like Hanami just absentmindedly growing some flowers around her, any water near Dagon swirling a bit into whirlpools, Mahito's body changing unconsciously to show happiness, Jogo getting a little steamed up/overheated.
Hanami has plenty of ways to show she cares and loves her friends even if she can't properly make a face to show it! (though now I am thinking of Mahito giving Hanami a bunch of transifigured humans in the shape of emotion faces, like at a doctor's office, so she can use to help express her emotions better. She kindly refuses them).
But yes, they all know they care for each other (why else would they stick together through their crazy ass plan to take on Gojo? lol), so it truly is peace and love on the planet earth! (until it isn't)

Reaching New Heights: The Strategic Advantages of Content Syndication in B2B
Introduction
In the dynamic landscape of B2B industries, where digital marketing strategies are constantly evolving, content syndication services have emerged as a potent tool for amplifying reach and impact. As businesses strive to connect with their target audience and establish themselves as industry leaders, the role of content syndication services cannot be understated. This blog delves into the world of content syndication services, exploring their benefits, working mechanisms, and how they can revolutionize your B2B marketing efforts.
 The Essence of Content Syndication Services
Content syndication services empower businesses to transcend the boundaries of their own platforms and tap into an extensive network of partner websites, industry portals, and social media channels. This strategic distribution process enables your well-crafted content – be it articles, whitepapers, videos, or infographics – to be showcased on diverse platforms, reaching a broader and more targeted audience than you could achieve through standalone efforts.
 Unveiling the Benefits
 1. Expanded Audience Reach
By leveraging content syndication services, B2B enterprises unlock the potential to connect with a much wider audience than their existing platforms could accommodate. Your content gains exposure on websites and channels that cater to different segments of your target market, increasing the likelihood of engaging decision-makers, stakeholders, and potential clients who may not have encountered your content otherwise.
 2. Amplified Brand Visibility
Standing out in the competitive B2B landscape demands strategic visibility. Content syndication services elevate your brand's visibility by positioning your content across reputable platforms, where it can be discovered by industry professionals actively seeking valuable insights. As your content gains recognition, your brand establishes itself as a thought leader, bolstering credibility and fostering trust.
 3. Lead Generation Powerhouse
In the B2B arena, lead generation is the lifeblood of growth. Content syndication services offer a powerful avenue for lead generation by capturing contact information from interested readers. When your content resonates with your audience, they are more likely to provide their details in exchange for additional resources, opening the door for personalized engagement and conversion opportunities.
 4. Enhanced SEO Performance
The strategic distribution of your content across a network of platforms often includes backlinks to your original content or website. These backlinks are recognized by search engines as indicators of credibility and relevance, contributing to improved search engine optimization. As your content gains backlinks, your website's search rankings receive a boost, making it more discoverable by organic traffic.
 5. Authority and Credibility
In the B2B realm, trust is paramount. Content syndication services enable you to showcase your expertise on various platforms, positioning your brand as an industry authority. This resonates with decision-makers and stakeholders seeking reliable sources of information and solutions, further enhancing your brand's credibility.
 6. Cost-Effective Strategy
Content creation demands time, effort, and resources. Content syndication services provide a cost-effective strategy by repurposing your existing high-quality content. Instead of reinventing the wheel, you share valuable resources across a broader spectrum of platforms, optimizing your content's reach without an extensive investment.
 7. Social Engagement Enhancement
The digital age thrives on social engagement. Syndicated content tends to generate increased social activity – likes, shares, comments, and retweets – which not only expands your reach but also nurtures meaningful conversations around your content. This engagement translates to higher visibility and brand recognition.
 8. Targeted Distribution
Precise targeting is the cornerstone of effective marketing. Content syndication services allow you to specify the demographics, industries, and job roles you want to reach. This ensures that your content reaches the most relevant audience, increasing the likelihood of attracting qualified leads and decision-makers.
 9. Shortened Sales Cycle
Educated leads are more likely to convert quickly. Syndicated content educates potential clients, addressing pain points and providing valuable insights. As your audience becomes more informed, they approach your sales team with a deeper understanding, potentially shortening the sales cycle.
 10. Data-Driven Insights
Content syndication services often provide robust analytics tools that offer insights into content performance across various channels. These data-driven insights empower you to refine your content strategy, adapt your messaging, and optimize distribution efforts for better results.

 Choosing the Right Partner
Selecting the ideal content syndication service for your B2B business requires careful consideration. Research and evaluate potential partners based on their network reach, audience targeting capabilities, analytics offerings, and reputation within your industry. Choose a service that aligns with your content strategy, ensuring your content reaches the right audience while maintaining consistent quality and credibility.
Conclusion
Content syndication services have emerged as a game-changer in B2B industries, empowering businesses to magnify their reach, enhance brand impact, and establish authority. By capitalizing on the manifold benefits these services offer, B2B enterprises can unlock the full potential of their content, driving lead generation, credibility, and accelerated growth. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, content syndication services stand as a steadfast pillar in the modern B2B marketer's toolkit.

What's up with "humans are weird/human are space orcs" being considered cringe? Any collective body of non-serious work created by writers with varying skill levels including total beginners is gonna have stuff that seems shallow or immature that's just the way it is.
Maybe it's gotten away from the core concept I remember? It's not "what if aliens think humans are badass and cool and special" it's a response to a trope in SFF. Most sci-fi and fantasy uses humans as the frame of reference for what is ""normal."" Either humans are the axis on which the range of variation swings, or humans are default and every other sapient species is cooler, more powerful humans with something added, or an amplification of human traits
But comparing humans with the rest of organisms, we are in some ways really bizarre, doing things waaaaaay out to the left of every other organism. For example, humans can eat just about anything, including many things that are toxic to other animals. We form mutualistic symbiosis like crazy. Compared with the vast majority of animals that exist, we are giant megafauna.
There is a tendency in sci fi to imagine that aliens capable of space travel would have similar traits to us because the things unique about us somehow equip us to become a species capable of interstellar travel and communication, but I think it's more fun to imagine that aliens developed their technologies with a whole different set of adaptations and the human characteristics that we think made us develop technologically are just kinda there

amplification, a unique quirk which allowed to user to essentially “power-up!” their own body, or send someone else’s quirk into overdrive to have them performing at top levels utilizing the wielder’s life energy.
the wielder of this quirk was a girl who had lived in musutafu most of her life, so small and timid but she had such big ambitions.
so why was it that said girl was currently lying on the ground, a pro hero over her as her eyes were half lidded and her body was weak and on the brink of unconsciousness.
bakugou looked over from where he stood on the battlefield to see what the hell was taking his mentor so long, but he didn’t expect to see you lying there under the hero taking small shallow breaths as your face was covered in battle scars.
best jeanist raised his hand to administer first aid to you, wondering why you hadn’t sent your body into overdrive in order to get yourself back up and running, but he could tell by your heartbeat that you had just one more amplification left in you, and with the way you looked him in the eye he knew that you had a plan in mind.
you slowly reached out for his arm, grabbing it and lowering it as you opened your mouth.
“deku and dynamight.” you whispered, best jeanist unable to comprehend you at first.
“what??” he was frantic, he didn’t want to be responsible for whatever would happen to you.
“bring me deku and dynamight.”
the two teens in question bolted over, hovering over you carefully as if you’d break if they put any force on your body. your hand quickly reached for their wrists, bakugou pulled away quickly, but deku understood as he looked at you solemnly.
“the hell are you doing?! use it on yourself, come on we don’t have much time.” he frantically yelled, so loud and yet so quiet at the same time as he made eye contact with you.
deku looked away as bakugou started changing his eyesight from you to him at rapid speeds, unable to believe just what his friend was allowing to happen as you gripped his wrist once again and activated your quirk, powering up their bodies and quirks to win this fight.
once done, you lied there unconscious due to the fact that you’d left yourself just a bit of life energy to allow you to get through this fight even if you were out of comission.
jeanist picked up your body, you hung limp as he brought it to the edge of the barrier, trying to put you far from harm’s way.
with one last glance, bakugou and deku looked over towards you before charging in.
they’d win. for you.

Dc x Dp Prompt #6: A Mother’s Love
Gotham still remembers when she was just a young Neverborn. When her bay was first discovered and settlements were newly established. Her consciousness like the budding town was growing slowly but surely. By the 1800s she was almost fully grown and by the 1900s she knew her name. She knew who she was.
She was Lady Gotham: Queen of the City of Corruption, Mistress of the Den of Madness, Ruler of No Man's Land, Mother of Poor Souls.
She was a Neverborn Spirit of the Infinite Realms who was well acquainted with disaster and misery. She was the sovereign of her own haunt and territory, and vassal under the king. (A king to whom she swore no loyalty)
She knew her flaws and she knew the flaws of those who were Hers but she loved them nonetheless. When she was still young she spent her energy trying to nourish her people, unfortunately, she was but a reflection of her mortal haunt. There was little she could do aside from slightly bending the rules to exert control over the physical aspects of her haunt or to extend her power to those who would need it most. As she grew older she also had to divide her care among the ghosts in her spectral haunt, for they were Hers too, now within her grasp.
She remembers when the Clown first arrived. He was horrible, an outsider, an interloper, and a scourge to her haunt. He was not Hers and she refused to claim him despite his fancy to call himself the Clown Prince of Gotham. No, he was more a Fool than anything else. She made it known within the realms to all those living in her spectral haunt that should the Fool ever make it to the realms than his fate would be up to her (Perhaps her former paramour would grant her a boon and keep him trapped in an eternal nightmare).
She remembers when her Dark Knight first arrived in her defense. She was struck to see him, for he had been one of Hers. He had been gone for many years but returned to her and he wished to help her, to protect her. She accepted him as her Knight, extending her power on occasion to cloak him in shadows and fear. Though she cherished her Knight she wished he was capable of more. (She wished he would cross lines she could not, but she knew he wouldn't because he could not either).
She remembers the first little Squire her Knight took in. He was not of her but she would claim him as Hers too. He was eager to help her and those who were Hers. He was the first bit of Wonder she and Hers had had in a long time. He cared for her too but eventually, he would grow to be more than a Squire and would leave her too. Though he was gone, he still had a place in the city as one of her Knights.
She remembers the second little Squire. Her very own homegrown Hope. Sure he was a bit more rough and decisive but he cared. He was so deeply and truly Hers. He grew up in her streets and he understood her and Hers better than any of her knights so far. He was young, full of life and a desire to help, and he believed he could be magic. She was devastated when he left, lured away by the promise of a mother, then tricked and fallen into the hands of the Fool. She was devastated when he returned to her broken and mangled.
In her distress she remembered that the Tyrant had been overthrown recently. There was a new king, one who had not even reached his majority yet. The Boy King, The Benevolent King, The Protector, The Peace Maker, The One with the Cloak of Stars and the Crown of Frozen Light, The Perfect Balance.
He had not yet risen to full power but he had united the Counsel of Ancients. She could appeal to them and to him. She could swear her loyalty in exchange for borrowed power. Even if he refused, it would not stop her. His help would prevent her from growing too weak but his refusal would mean nothing to her.
True to his title, the Benevolent King granted her a boon, her loyalty and support for a temporary amplification of her own power and permission to cross over. She thanked the Boy King for his Kindness and fled back to her haunt, ready to manifest onto the mortal plane for the first time in centuries.
When she found him she was overwhelmed with grief. Her voice echoed like sirens in the wind. Her fingernails elongated as she reached out. Her appearance grew more haggard as spectral winds swirled around her. She cried black tears over his grave summoning her power to channel his soul.
If the boy wanted to help he could help those in her spectral haunt.
If the boy wanted to make a difference, he could help her exert her power over her mortal haunt.
If the boy wanted a family, then she would be his Mother.
If the boy wanted to live, he could live in the Realms with Her.
Her form flickered vanishing from the mortal plane. Back in her spectral haunt, she held a young figure in her arms. She overflowed with gratefulness promising herself she would introduce the young boy to the King when she got the chance. He deserved to see how much he'd done for her. She gathered up her presence and made a declaration to the realm:
Here was the heir to her power
Here was the being that was most truly Hers
Here was the true Son
Her very own Little Prince of Gotham.
~~~
Okay a couple of things:
Did I imply the Joker is not a Gotham Native? Yes, I did. I also implied that if he ever became a ghost it would be on sight for him by Lady Gotham.
Did I imply that Lady Gotham has two haunts? Yes, I did. She has actual Gotham and then the ghost version in the Infinite Realms where a lot of the ghosts of people who died in Gotham live.
Did I imply that Lady Gotham and Fright Knight were romantically involved at one point? Yes, I did.
The goal of this was to literally make Jason the "Son of Gotham", a term I've seen thrown around before. I feel like Lady Gotham would love to be a mom and finally give Jason a decent parent, albeit one that treads the line between creepy and Eldritch Horror.
I included Danny as the new Ghost King even though he's not technically ruling yet. He has the Council of Ancients running things and he has a regent but idk who yet. He's still involved in the decision-making process bc a.) He's super powerful, b.) he's still technically ruler, and c.) it's a good way for him to learn about ruling which he will have to do eventually.
Yes, it is my intention to have Jason and Danny meet in the Ghost Zone later. Give some good bonding and friendship (eventually crushes on each other).
I have a couple ideas for things that may happen in this au but if anyone gets their own ideas or wants to write this then feel free to share or ask about it.
Pinky Promise
Short little piece for Day 1 of @erisweekofficial: Bonds/Bargins
Summary: It was a stupid deal, promising Eris you would marry him. And now, what happens when you have no intention of following through with it.
Warnings: Sick Reader, unedited
WC: 1.7k
divider by the lovely @tsunami-of-tears
Tumblr media
“I’m gonna marry you one day.” Eris said the words with such conviction but kept his tone light. You couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at him.
“Is that so?” You picked at a loose thread on your skirt, suddenly unable to make eye contact with the autumn court heir.
“Yep.” He popped the p and leaned back in his chair. “No one else would be able to keep up with me.”
”You’ll be high lord one day, you could do far better than me.”
Eris snorted and rolled his eyes.
‘I could do far worse.”
”You really know how to flatter a girl, Eris.” You let out a heavy sigh.
“Here, if neither of us have found anyone by the time you become high lord, then we’ll get married.”
 “Really?” He asked, sitting up a little straighter.
 “Really.”
 “It’s a deal then.” You felt it then. The words branding themselves onto the back of your neck. Your hand went up to trace the newly marked skin, the raised fern shaped bump.
It was silly. Rushed words from childhood that you didn’t take seriously at the time. Your hand still traced over the skin, no longer feeling the texture of it. Just enough to bring you comfort. To know that Eris was your friend.
Eris had turned down every match his father had tried. Always managing to find some fault with them, no matter how much trouble it got him in. You stopped the glimmer of hope every time that it was because he was holding out for you. Holding out for the bargain, the one you had no intentions of going through with.
You woke up a little later than you intended, the sun already streaking through the window. When you stood up, your muscles seemed to scream in protest, a small throbbing behind your temples started as you got dressed for the day.
You sighed as you walked into the bathroom attached to your room, the room you had been given when you were appointed as Eris’ second in court, and started searching for the tonic to get rid of this headache. The day was going to be filled with meetings and dealing with the rest of his court was headache inducing enough. It didn’t take long for the pain to recede, not gone but enough to fade into the background as you headed towards eris’ office.
Eris was absolutely glowing with the power of a new high lord. He wore it well. The amplification of his already impressive abilities. He was heartbreakingly handsome before, but now, just being in the same room with him was enough to bring heat to your cheeks.
“There she is.” Eris says as you walk into the room, his advisors sitting around the table. The spot next to him is empty, reserved for you.
“I’m sorry for being late. I had an issue I had to deal with.” You felt all eyes in the room as you walked over to Eris. “You could have started without me.” You looked at Eris as you sat down, he waved off your words.
“No we couldn’t. I trust your opinions on this stuff.” He squeezed your hand that was on the table and you shoved down the butterflies that rose in your stomach at the simple touch.
“Now, last time we talked, we were discussing how to improve the schools that have been severely lacking since the war.”
The late morning bled into the afternoon and there had been minimal arguments. A small miracle with the over opinionated circle Eris was still trying to navigate around. The older ones were still adjusting to be able to speak out and be heard. Eris handled every issue as well as he could have and you found yourself smiling at your friend as he truly stepped into his role as High Lord.
“If you’ll allow me to make one last point. I would like to remind the high lord of the conversation we had a few days ago.” Eris just sighed at the words. Your eyes flicked to Eris, who seemed suddenly very annoyed.
“I have several daughters that are of age and would be honored to be considered by the high lord.”
“I told you where I stand on the issue.” Eris cut him off, voice tight. You wanted to sink into the floor. There was no subtlety in the words the lord was speaking. He was offering his daughters for Eris to marry.
“The court needs a lady.”
“I have one.” he didn’t hesitate to say the words, turning to you. You felt the gaze on everyone in the room. “I believe someone made me a promise.” He smiled at you, one you couldn’t return.
“Eris. Be serious.” You muttered to him, turning away from the rest of the advisors.
“I am.” He turned to face the man. “And that is all I will hear of this subject.” The older man had enough sense to nod at Eris’ words, looking slightly crestfallen. “You’re all dismissed for the day.”
Slowly the other filed out of the room, leaving you and Eris alone. The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.
“You didn’t have to do that, Eris.” YOu said, leaning back in your chair. The headache from earlier was coming back with a vengeance.
“I wasn’t doing anything. I was simply making them aware that I’m spoken for.”
“But you’re not.” You tried to stop your voice from raising but you were getting more and more frustrated with this conversation.
Eris just looked at you as if he was confused by your words.
“I thought-”
“You didn’t think at all, Eris. You didn’t think for a second about me in this and just told your entire court that you’re marrying me.” The words spoken through your teeth, the pain in your head becoming unbearable. You rose to your feet, hand on the table as you tried to get your bearings. “I don’t want to talk about this right now.” Your tongue felt like it had turned to sandpaper. The words heavy and mumbled. You wanted nothing more in this moment than to lay down and sleep off this gross feeling.
You made it to the end of your hallway before it fully hit you.
The room around you was starting to tilt, your head feeling fuzzy like you had too much wine. You tried to keep yourself upright but your legs might as well have been jelly for the way they were shaking. Reaching out a hand, you blindly felt for the rough textured wallpaper and sat yourself down before you could fall flat on your face. The world seemed to right itself slightly as you tucked your head between your knees and took a deep breath. The movement rattled your chest and made every muscle in your body ache in protest.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed before you felt a hand shake your shoulder. One of the handmaid's faces came into focus in front of you. Her words seemed to be traveling too slow for them to reach your ears. You could only look at her with a blank look on your face before closing your eyes again. The pain had only been building and now it felt like your whole body was pulsing with this strange sickness.
When you finally came to again, you were startled to feel soft velvet under your hands. A blanket had been thrown over you but the thin layer of sweat on your body had you kicking it off immediately. The motion seemed to remind your body what got you into this position. The light making tears spring in your eyes.
“Thank the mother. You had me scared.” Eris’ voice made your head throb. You groaned, heads going to your temples. You flinched slightly at the contact, even your own touch sending waves of discomfort through you.
“Dove, what happened?”
You could only shake your head. Forcing your eyes to look at Eris. He reached out to grab your hand and a small gasp left him. You saw it then, the pretty mark on your wrist that was now darker in color, leaking dark lines up your arm.
“You’re breaking the bargain.” He dropped your arm like he was afraid the mark would transfer to him.
“I have to.” You crooked out, clearing your throat you repeated the words, louder this time.
“No. I refuse to accept this.” His voice had risen in pitch slightly, panic leaching into his words.
“You would rather die than be with me?”
“I’m not having this conversation, Eris.” You cursed the weakness in your voice.
“No, you have it very clear we aren’t.” He ran his hands through his hair, placing his hands over his eyes. His chest rose as he took a deep breath and let it out through his mouth. “Is being married to me that bad?”
The hurt in his voice was worse than any of the pain in your body.
“I won’t make you marry me because of some stupid joke you made over a hundred years ago.”
A silence filled the room after your words you wanted to curl in yourself. That was when you felt Eris’s hand on top of yours.
“That’s what you think?”
“What else could it have been?”
“Do you think I wasn’t serious then? I would have married you that minute if I could have.”
“Don’t be cruel.”
“I could say the same thing to you. Do you expect me to live without you?”
You suddenly couldn’t find the strength to look at him.
“Dove. I wouldn’t want to have anyone else in this world by my side.” He takes your hand and places a small kiss on your knuckles. Rubbing warmth into your stiff muscles. When you look back at him, you only find your best friend staring back at you. No lies or hatred on your face.
Words fail you and you can only look at him, tears threatening to spill over.
“You don’t have to say anything, focus on being better so you can make good on your promise.” Eris squeezes your hand but doesn’t let go. You smile at him and pat the spot beside you, as Eris climbs into bed behind you, you feel like a weight has been lifted off your chest that you’ve been carrying for the last century.
You meet Logan when you are young, but he is far older than you initially assume.
Stryker takes point in the introductions, as usual. You linger patiently at his back, just a pace behind, idly scuffing the dirt with the toe of your boot. The air is sour with the stench of stale blood and decay. War isn’t new to you. Neither is recruitment for new soldiers.
“Who’s your little friend?” One of the men jeers, a sharp smile edging the curve of his mouth. This one is Victor Creed, you think, and it’s confirmed when you glance to the other side of the cell and see the other brother sitting back, unimpressed. That one is surely Logan.
From the files that Stryker let you and Zero parse through, you expected more… reaction. He has been tracing their movements for the past two months, and you have seen the bullet list of their service history and grim achievements. They are deadly predators, mutated to efficiently slaughter their prey. Animals, Zero had remarked, and you had silently conceded to that point. Not that you haven’t killed, but you also have human hands that do not morph to tear apart flesh.
“Less who she is, and more what she can do for you both,” Stryker says. On cue, you wander a step closer and set your amplifier alight with a flick of your wrist. You’ve mastered the range just enough to brush the soles of their feet, a fleeting-faint taste of your ability. The hand movement is still an instinct you can’t quash despite the disapproving look Stryker gives you when he sees it.
Victor sucks in a deep, rumbling breath, twitching with a suppressed lunge. Logan doesn’t make a noise, but merely closes his eyes as if a weight has been lifted. Your own body tingles with rippling electricity, every nerve set alight with adrenaline. Like a caffeine rush, you’ll feel the impact of the fall later, but for now you neatly dim your amplifier to a low buzz and shuffle back a half-step to escape their range. The pair slumps against the wall the moment it escapes them. Victor bares his teeth in a grin, and Logan gazes at Stryker with half-lidded eyes. It’s a dark, calculating gaze. Weighing the competition, you think.
“Now that I have your attention,” Stryker says, but you can’t help but notice that both the brothers are looking at you, instead. Their mistake.
Three months later, the brothers once again leave you pinned behind metal-gilded crates with enough gunfire to rattle your teeth in your skull.
“Good God,” you spit out, hauling yourself back behind cover. “Can you stop the self-sacrificial antics for a moment?”
“Sacrifice?” Victor laughs. His skin ripples with regeneration, leaving merely a smear of blood behind as proof of the healed bullet hole. His clawed hand flexes at his side, the elongated tips of his fingers scratching lightly against the floor. “I’m not the one dying, Star.”
You pull a face at the name, but you don’t have the time to argue it. Bullets spray in patterned bursts against your cover, and you have to hunch in on yourself to protect your extremities. The perk of your power is that you can keep your team from burning out and improve their reflexes. The downside is that your power does absolutely nothing in terms of protecting you; your protection is your team.
So you draw in a slow breath, flick your wrist, and summon a surging wave of amplification. Victor surges to his feet with a giddy-mad laugh and delves into the fray. Logan follows in close pursuit behind him, though he takes more care to skirt the edges of the bloodbath, cleaning up the loose ends.
The brothers are an odd addition to this mismatched army of mutant soldiers, though Stryker is pleased with their formidable prowess in battle. In the three months you’ve worked with them, you can see why, and there is a foreboding sense of dread that wells inside you as you listen to the choked-off screams of the enemy ahead. You clench your fists and hold the amplifier steady, silently grateful that for the moment, the only mutants in the room are the ones less likely to tear you apart. No doubt Victor would revel in slicing the flesh from your bones to expose what lies beneath your skin. Logan would be less inclined, perhaps, but you know he follows his brother above all else.
Yes, of course Stryker values their addition to Team X. They are nothing but monsters.
Nothing but monsters, and you have a leash on every one of them.
Stryker has a keen interest in your power, or rather what your power does for the team. You aren’t invulnerable, and you don’t have hyper senses. You don’t teleport or shoot with terrifying accuracy. On the surface, you appear nothing more than a young woman with military training and a nervous tic in your hand.
Underneath the surface, you burn bright.
Your father had been an amateur astronomer. When you were growing up, he would sneak you out to the backyard past your bedtime and the two of you would watch the sky and plot the path of constellations. He was the one that taught you about the sun, the moon, and the stars. My girl, he would say, you are made of the cosmos.
He must be partially right. There’s a staggering core of cosmic energy stored in the cradle of your ribcage. You have spent long moments staring at your own bare reflection in the mirror, hoping to catch a glimpse of it. How do you look so ordinary when there is a blazing sun in your chest?
Yet you do. Stryker had been skeptical of your ability when you first met him, but by that point he had recruited Zero and Bradley, so it only took a little wave of your hand to boost their abilities and prove your silent mutation. Proving it had sealed your fate: under the codename Cosmic, you were an infinite battery pack to the newly forged Team X.
Yet it’s moments like this, when you’re stranded in a rare week of downtime, that you feel like an outsider looking in.
It’s been four days since the job that got you shot at, the same job that let Victor unleash utter havoc, and you’re all going a little stir-crazy while you wait for things to cool down. John Wraith has somehow secured a deck of cards, and he’s managed to wrangle Bradley, Victor, and Wade in a game you don’t follow. The rules seem to change the more they drink and bicker over the play, so you toy with your own can of half-drunk beer and stare out the living room window of your temporary housing. There are stray stars speckled in the night sky, and you feel such a deep-ridden surge of grief at the sight of them.
The arguing gets louder around the kitchen table, and none of them notice when you slip out the front door. The night is hushed when you close the door behind you, and some unknown tension eases from your shoulders with the sky exposed high above. It takes some wandering to properly immerse yourself in the pitch dark, but you find a patch of grass cleared of undergrowth and sprawl out on your back, tucking your hands beneath your head. The safe house that Stryker has your team staying in is hours from the nearest large city, and the sky is clear of light pollution. You can see a scattered sea of stars, all of them twinkling in familiar greeting.
My girl, you are made of the cosmos.
You have to swallow back the sudden swell of emotion in your throat. It’s quiet this far from the house. Without any heightened senses, you can’t hear anything other than the soft rustle of the wildlife shuffling through the trees. It’s lonely, but not in the way that you felt lonely sitting in that room with the rest of the team. Their abilities serve them; your ability just makes them more.
You’re reminded of that fact in a fierce strike of terror when a figure appears at the edge of the clearing, moving too quiet for your human hearing to pick up. You bolt upright, curling your hands into fists, all too aware of your pitiful human strength and basic military training. It would do nothing against a mutant intent on rending you apart.
“Thought you were asleep,” Logan grunts, rubbing a hand over his chest in discomfort. The adrenaline from his sudden appearance spiked your amplifier, and you have to focus on leveling your breathing as you slowly retract your power back to your core. “Took you too long to notice me.”
“You were in your room,” you accuse. It’s mostly the fear driving the annoyance in your tone, but you don’t have the patience for an apology. “I wasn’t expecting to see you lurking in the woods.”
The clearing is half-lit by the light of the moon, though Logan lingers near the edges. He’s wearing a short-sleeve white shirt that clings to the curve of his torso, the muscled tone of his arms flexing as he crosses them over his chest. You can barely make out the way he raises a brow at your choice of words, his profile half-shadowed.
“Lurking,” he repeats, almost amused. “Says the stargazer.”
“Cosmic,” you remind him. “Comes with the territory.”
“What, you charge them, too?” You don’t expect him to step closer, but he does. In the moonlight, the tousled curl of his hair softens the incredulous look he’s giving you. There isn’t the same degree of mocking like the kind you would expect from Victor, but then again, you haven’t spoken to Logan much. He’s content to focus on the work rather than the idle play. Unlike Zero, however, there isn’t the same air of arrogant distaste.
He almost seems… ordinary.
“Funny,” you say dryly. You shuffle your weight and lay back down in the grass, pointedly ignoring the low chuckle he gives at your exasperation. There’s a kernel of truth stuck in your throat, so you blurt out, “I think they charge me.”
“Right,” Logan says, his tone decidedly skeptical. “And I get my claws charged up by sunshine and rainbows.”
You shoot him a glare. “I’m serious.”
“So I am, bub.”
He takes another step from the edge of the clearing. He’s closer now, enough that he looms over you. The stars speckle the sky above his head in a crown of twinkling light, and you flex your fingers, silently summoning the rush of energy that the sight of the sky gives you. Logan shivers, cursing under his breath, though he doesn’t back away.
He takes a step closer, nudging your hip with the toe of his boot. His posture doesn’t change, but he’s flexing his fingers into a fist, almost subconsciously. You wonder how it feels for him, to have his bones shift and extend into claw-like weapons. The first time you watched him kill, you grimaced at the sight of his hands. The sharpened claws of Victor’s nails were tame in comparison to the mutation that rearranged Logan’s skeleton.
You’ve never seen any indication that his ability hurts him, yet the way he flexes his hands now makes you wonder. He doesn’t speak for a long moment, only staring down at you with that unapproachable expression. You wonder, too, if he’s out here for the same reason that you are. Surely not; you’ve seen the way he follows Victor, and the way Victor turns to him, expectant in battle. They are tied together in a way that reminds you of a hangman’s noose.
“Sunshine, huh?” You say. “Suits your happy personality.”
“Like you know a fucking thing about me,” he says, and the laugh trailing the end of that sentence is far from amused. When he steps back, you almost miss the warmth of his presence filling the sky above. “Pay attention before you get yourself killed.”
“I’ve seen enough,” you shoot back, stung by the sudden seethe of his tone. You sit up to properly glare at him, but he’s already turned and heading back into the darkness of the woods. You call to his retreating back, “You and that brother of yours are gonna get the wrong people hurt.”
“Save the altruism for someone else,” he calls over his shoulder, and then he’s gone.
You glare up at the sky instead. The yawning black abyss above you feels lonelier than ever.
- A guide to lunar magick -
Today's topic is moon magick and how you can harness the moon's power to enhance your spiritual journey.
Tumblr media
As I delve into the various phases of the moon, we'll go over the symbolism, spells, and rituals associated with each, and hopefully offer a deeper understanding of how to align your craft with the moon's cycles. It's important to note that these symbolisms may vary among different crafts, so you might find it doesn't align with your personal practice, so work with it however it feels right for you.
New Moon The new moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, positioned between the Earth and the Sun, appearing completely dark. It symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings and makes for a perfect time for personal growth and reflection. This phase is ideal for magical practices focused on personal transformation, intention-setting, releasing, healing, and anything to do with something new. Waxing Crescent Moon The waxing moon is associated with the growth and amplification of energy. It corresponds to the strengthening of intentions set during the New Moon, as desires begin to gather momentum. This time of the moon is also good for setting intentions, as well as harnessing the energy of growth, abundance, and positive change. First Quarter Moon Appears approximately 7 days after the new moon. During this phase, the moon is half-illuminated and marks a period characterized by facing obstacles, decision-making, and creating forward momentum. It's a good time for taking action on your intentions and moving forward with your plans, as well as building courage and drawing things in. Waxing Gibbous Moon During this phase, the moon's luminance gradually increases and marks a time for attraction and drawing things in, but more often for inner strength and motivation. It's a good time to work on refining your goals and strengthen your focus in various aspects of your life apart from the spiritual. Full Moon The full moon is regarded as a time of heightened energy and magic. It occurs about 15 days after the New Moon when it's centered between the Earth and the Sun. This phase is often said to bring in the strongest energies and is often associated with prosperity and fulfillment of intentions. Due to its heightened power during this phase, it's a good time for practicing any spell you have in mind, such as romantic rituals, abundance and prosperity spells, divination, protection and banishing, healing, etc. Waning Gibbous Moon The waning gibbous occurs after the full moon, and during this time, the moon's illumination gradually decreases. This phase is good for releasing negative energies and anything that no longer serves you as well as cleansing, divination, reflection, and breaking bad habits. Third Quarter Moon The third quarter moon appears in the lunar cycle between the full moon and the new moon. During this phase, the moon is illuminated to roughly half its capacity, presenting as a distinct half-moon shape. This moon's energy is associated with letting go of the past and focusing on reflection and renewal. It's a good time for banishing, protection and warding, and inner exploration including shadow work. It's also a good time to reconnect with spirit. Waning Crescent Moon This phase represents the final stages of release and introspection. It calls for the preparation of new beginnings and is a good time for intuitive work and shedding old skin before transitioning into the dark moon. The Dark Moon The dark moon occurs when the moon is completely concealed from sight for a few days before the first slight glimpse of the waxing phase and is not actually associated with the new moon. This is a good time to do banishings, hexes, cleansings, bindings, and any magical workings that are considered to be on the negative aspects.
Hi I see your requests are open!
Could you do a Flash ( Barry Allen) x alien reader?
Where the Reader's true form looks like the Martians, but dark purples and cool greys?
Apart of the Reader's culture, is rough housing. So they like to spar and chase around Barry. Though, apart of their rough housing is pinning. So everytime they spar, Reader pins Barry to the ground or wall, making him extremely flustered.
We are back after kinktober, finally. Guess who handed in their last psychology assignment of the year, now it’s just my religion project and exams and I’ll be free until next semester.
For the martian appearance, I went with the more, what should I call it?? lizard? Plant? Looking? Appearance, you see in young justice.
Your species was from Mercury, meaning you were extremely hot blooded, which lead to your kind being, what should I say, competitive by nature. Martians and Mercurians descended from the same place, which is why your species were similar in some ways like appearance.
Unlike martians, you couldn’t shapeshift. Mercurians did have the ability of intangibility, power negation, and power amplification, along with the same type of telepathy and telekinesis you would find in martians.
Unlike the greens and other similar colours you would find on Mars, your people were cooler colours in contrast of the warm colours of your home planet. Every member of your species possessed different patterns in their skin as well, which wasn’t easily spotted by the naked eye.
It helped your people identify each other, and some of the spirit mediums claimed to be able to tell your future off these patterns, think like reading someone’s destiny in their palm.
The Mercurians had stayed away from earth as long as it had existed, but after larger and larger enemies showed up in your part of the galaxy, your people joined in on fighting them off.
You were the 6th child of the ruler of your planet at the time, your parent having been chosen as leader through democracy for many hundred years because of how just they were. But because of this, and your interest in interworld communication, you were the one sent to earth.
Here you met the justice league. The first person you got along with was of course J'onn J'onzz, and his niece M'gann M'orzz, as your people and culture were similar in some ways, and your people descended from the same origin.
Your inability to shapeshift made it hard for you to take part in human culture, even as you bonded with the other members of the league, like superman, the many green lanterns, M'ganns teammates, and so on and so forth.
It was on one of the days you were growing antsy for anything to happen that you fell into conversation with Barry, The Flash, as he was called. Talking to him calmed some of the fidgetiness in your body, there was just something about him and how fast he talked when he was passionate about a subject, that cooled your inner flames.
It also helped that he ran hot, as earth was much much colder than your home planet of Mercury. You also would never admit how it made your Mercurian vocal cords trill when he raved about your purple colour, and how it shifted in the sunlight.
J'onn teased you quite a lot as you started developing feelings for the speedster. You denied it vehemently, but even M'gann could tell and would tease you as well. All of this happened over your telepathy of course, so no one else on the team seemed to pick up on it, except for Batman, since he saw pretty much everything.
After some time, Barry seemed to pick up on your inability to stay still, or how you were always found in the gym beating up the equipment. It was J'onn who explained your people’s culture to him, and how roughhousing was the way your people bonded.
Because of this roughhousing not happening, you didn’t feel as close to the league as you would be able too. And Barry, who had started to develop feelings for you in return, found himself wondering if you might be interested in a sparring match.
When he finally summoned up the courage to ask, he didn’t even have time to doubt his act of asking, as you launched yourself at him like an overexcited cat, immediately wrestling him to the ground.
Barry hadn’t thought this fully through, as he found himself being pinned to the floor, the wall, the ceiling once or twice, throughout this sparring. He became so flustered that he almost forgot about his speed.
There was just something about how excited you seemed to be that someone finally wanted to roughhouse and spar with you, and the trills and chirps that rang from your chest and throat instinctually, only made him want to keep doing it.
This kept up for some time, both of you taking time out of your schedules to roughhouse at least once a week. And over time Barry was able to keep up, even though he still found himself blushing and sputtering when you pinned him just right.
J'onn ended up telling the rest of the team what was up, and roughhousing became part of the usual sparring when you were involved, for team bonding.
But what you and Barry had was something special, just between you two. And when you started adding your hidden stripes to his suits stitching, no one would be the wiser, except for maybe J'onn, who just seemed amused.
Your people didn’t kiss, you didn’t really have the lips, but you wanted to try it. Kissing Barry the first time after pinning him to the floor once again, had been a little awkward. Lips pressed against teeth, not much of the romantic liplocking you had seen in earth movies.
But Barry seemed just as passionate after realizing what was up, his arms immediately wrapping around you and kissing you back as passionately.
The roughhousing continued even as you started dating, and when the team found a way to let you alter your shape to a human one, you two would go on dates.
There were moments you felt self-conscious about your appearance, as many humans were more attractive, but Barry was always quick to wrestle you into his arms to tell you he loved you for who you were, and that he didn’t care about that stuff, and you were handsome to him.
Lets just say the first time Barry met your family it lead to a huge family wide roughhousing and wrestling, and he had to resort to using his speed more than once to not get mobbed by your family who wanted to bond with him and get to know him since you loved him so much.
OK, so. Evan was given the book by the Qhoyle. This could be seen as the Qhoyle choosing him, but I think it's deeper than that. It is the Qhoyle trusting him to choose. The book is tied strongly to the concept of magic, and there are two places that interact with that concept directly (instead of, say, using/shaping it): The Weugan (amplification) and the Tadershacourt (nullification).
Evan says himself, on the island of Weugan, that it is the place wizards seek. Amplification is the bane of wizards, and something deep within him yearns for this sort of power. He makes the choice, there, to protect the world from the knowledge present in the book. He hides it away and, while he is still in control, gives his friends the instruction not to allow it back into his hands. I firmly believe he could have been chosen by the island of amplification, and if he had, he would have become as the wizards of old. And Qhoyle gave him this opportunity.
Instead, he chose to open the book on the island of nullification. To use the nature of the place to act as a shield between secrets and the world. To insert a shield between the parts of him that want, desperately, amplification, and the parts of him that care, desperately, for a safe world. He is chosen by the Tadershacourt not only because he spoke, not only because he is a protector, but because he made the choice to access the book of the Qhoyle here, and not there. The book was a test that led him to his place of choosing. He chose, so it chose.
I love that aspect that arises so often in these stories. That it is not fate or destiny or even trope that pulls the character, but choices. What a beautiful, hopeful way to see the world.
