For anyone looking to brew up a potion with a less-than-friendly bent, here are some recipes I've created that you might find useful.
To prepare them, blend the ingredients in such proportions as feels correct for your purposes (or as supplies allow). Use dried material except where indicated. Place a few spoonfuls in a mason jar with a screwtop lid and fill the jar with a bland oil of your choice. (Vegetable oil of the sort you would buy for cooking works fine.) Screw the lid on tightly and shake well to combine, then leave the jar in a dark dry place for 2-4 weeks to steep.
Once steeped, prepare a clean storage bottle (also with a secure lid) and label with the type of oil and the bottling date. Strain the oil through paper towels or cheesecloth to remove the plant material, then bottle immediately. Store away from sunlight and heat for up to one year. Use for spellwork as you see fit.
(Please note that NONE of these potions are meant to be taken internally by any means. Observe all proper safety measures related to glass, fire, and potentially harmful plants as necessary during preparation.)
*- Ingredient is potentially harmful if inhaled or ingested. **- Ingredient should not be used or handled if you are pregnant or nursing.
All-Purpose Hexing Oil For general hexing, cursing, and baneful magic.
Dried Chili Pepper
Fresh Lime Peel
Lemongrass (dried or fresh)
Rusted Nail (place in bottle with finished oil)
All-Purpose Hexbreaking Oil For general negation of baneful spells cast by oneself or others.
Agrimony**
Cinquefoil
Fennel
Vervain
Solomon's Seal Root (place in bottle with finished oil)
Backhanded Blessing Oil For blessings that are anything but benevolent.
Burnt Cinquefoil
Bay Leaf
Pine Needles
Bayberry Root NOTE: Prepare as you would a blessing oil, then twist the blessing into a curse, i.e. May You Get Everything You Deserve.
Done in the Dark Concealment Oil For secrecy, confidentiality, and general deception.
Juniper Berries
Licorice Root
Black Hemp (Dogbane)
Ferns or Dried Seaweed Note: For the final ingredient, use whichever is easier to obtain. Both bracken and seaweed work well for basic concealment spells.
Eye of Newt Disruption Oil For disrupting and confounding magical efforts against you.
Black Mustard Seeds
Bloodroot**
Nettle Leaf
Garlic (1 clove, bruised)
No Rest For The Wicked Hexing Oil For punishing one's enemies.
Chili Pepper (any)
Horseradish Root
Cramp Bark
Bayberry Root
On Your Own Head Retribution Oil For counter magic and revenge hexes.
Elderberries*
Bloodroot**
Devil's Shoestring**
Vetiver
Tangled Shoelaces Binding Oil To impede someone's ability to move or act against you.
Pine Needles
Devil's Shoestring**
Scullcap**
Coffee Grounds
Iron Nail in master bottle
Wicked Witch Heavy-Duty Cursing Oil For occasions when a regular-strength hex just won't do.

Ghost Chili Pepper (or the hottest chili you can get)
Lemon Seeds
Lobelia* Note: Use With Extreme Caution And Cover Your Ass.

Circe's Potion
So no one is going to talk about how Circe's "potion" is not really a potion at all (like just a liquid) but that it was practically a type of broth? No? Then I guess that I have to do it so you can make it at home hahahaha and enchant all your guests or maybe make them fear you! Hahahhahahaha your choice!
And then she mixed cheese and barley and golden honey and stirred them with Pramnian wine.
(Translation by me)
So her potion is not really a pure drink but a broth! A salt-sweet broth given the ingredients. The name of the drink or rather the notion of it seems to be also appearing in the Iliad as a healing potion given to Machaon (and ironically is yet another time a female character to make it). The name seems to be Κυκεών / Kykeon which simply translates as "potion" from the verb κυκάω which means "to stir"
The honey is mentioned as χλωρ that also means "greenish" of color or greenish gold. If you are like Circe may I suggest wild flower honey or eucalyptus honey or potentially herbal honey such as thyme or bush honey. Plants typically found in the wilderness and also known for their healing properties.
Barley if raw might need some preparation to be soft enough to be consumed unless you do not mind some crunchiness XD otherwise it can be boiled or turned to dust beforehand I guess! If you have a mortar or a blender!
For cheese I would suggest white cheese as it would be more common in antiquity. Goat cheese is preferable hahaha! Just probably not too salty!
Both main ingredients (barley and wine) are associated with gods that have to do with life and death Demeter and Dionysus
As a result this type of drinks were associated with Eleusinian Mysteries
Which consequently I find very interesting given how Odysseus drinks this and then descends to the underworld! Odysseus is basically doing LITERALLY the Eleusinian mysteries!
In fact the whole thing seems to be somehow related to the travel on the underworld. Odysseus meets Hermes who assists him through (Hermes who passes the dead in the underworld) he drinks a potion related to Eleusinian Mysteries he travels to the Underworld and he comes back!
Pramnian wine was probably made of resin grapes (although the actual making process is mostly unknown) therefore it was very thick and heavy to drink without watering or preparing and ancient writers thought it was reserved for its healing properties
Maybe this is why the Greeks drank her potion! Maybe they thought she wanted to heal them! Oh Circe you are good!
So basically Circe's potion is yet another example of the word φάρμακον which in ancient Greek meant both "medicine" and "poison" Hahahaha! And speaking on "poison" see this HILARIOUS artist make it! And the rather encouraging reaction when he tries it! XD
youtube
I love his videos by the way because he does very good research on ancient recipes and gives you also the information that I gave you very briefly in more detail and in a very fun way!
Honestly if anyone makes this reblog me with their experience! Hahahahaha! But really one probably must add more honey and perhaps boil it more or make the barley in fine powder if they do not want to end up with a barley breakfast (which now I think I wanna make for one morning! XD)
So there you go! Now you can be Circe! Try not to turn anyone into pigs with weird drugs guys! XD

Here me out:
The first time Tom ever had chocolate was when he was nine, and someone opened a candy store down the street from the orphanage.
He had been staring through the window in the pouring rain, wishing he could have at least one of the Bars.
Then his attention was captured by a boy of twelve who was the owners son staring back at him. Before Tom could run away the boy opens the door waving him.
Tom is shocked that he lets him pick any candy off the shelves for free. He just has Tom promise to come back.
Tom picks a "chocolate frog" and runs all the way home thinking of the pretty green eye boy who smiled at him.
Meanwhile, Harry watched Tom Riddle from the Candy store with a confused smile. His "father" and "mother" come up from the back.
"What you looking at Harry?" Ron asks putting down two crates.
"I found baby Dark Lord"
"Oh good. Makes things easier, " Hermione says. "If anything, the time travel de-aging Harry will give him the opportunity to get closer and help him before he goes Dark"
I’m sorry but all I could see was Harry growing up to be a magical Timothée Chalamet-esque Wonka and Tom losing his goddamn mind over this eccentric chocolate fiend that lives down the road 😭

Lilia totally has some sort of ancient family soup or pasta sauce recipe that’s been passed down from generation to generation and has ridiculous levels of secrecy surrounding it.
One time she made it for the Coven, and now Jen is determined to figure out what it is. She goes to great lengths, from trying to recreate it herself based on educated guesses to trying to get Lilia to slip up and tell her.
Everyone else has a running bet about if Jen will figure it out and how and if Lilia will slip up.
#Jen would use her potions knowledge to guess the ingredients. I feel like her skills with potions would extend to cooking (knowing the#proper steps/ingredients/etc)#Thus why she wants to figure out this recipe. She wants to know so she can make it and because she sees figuring it out as a challenge.#agatha all along#lilia calderu#jennifer kale#the coven of chaos#incorrect agatha all along#agatha all along headcanon#not an incorrect quote

"fireball this, banishment that—" do you think wizards have to call their moms for help making potions bc theirs never work quite like hers. do you think they sit there struggling to write down coherent recipes while their moms dictate based entirely on vibes and made up units of measurement like "a pinch" and "some." do you think they bicker w their moms over the proper order to add ingredients, and how no they're not going too slow, and what the hell do you MEAN it'll be done in '20-ish' minutes. do you think that when they fall in battle and need to be healed they wake up to the taste of home lingering in their mouths.

Elminx's Long-Form Lemonade for Sweet Cleansing
If you've been hanging out for more than a hot minute, you have probably caught on to a secret about my kitchen witching: it's not the NUMBER of ingredients you enchant; it's how you enchant them. For the purposes of witching, I prefer simple recipes (ingredient-wise) that have a bit of oomph to them. Do you need to stir a pot for 45 minutes straight? (see also my french onion soup recipe) What about starting a vinegar infusion that needs to be shaken every day?
This, as the saying goes, is where the magic is made. At least, for me.
So, imagine my surprise when my friends introduced me to a long-form way of making lemonade. Rather than simply juicing the lemons and adding some sugar and water - you combine the sugar and lemon peels and let them sit for some time to release the lemon's essential oils.
Not only does it make a superior lemonade (can confirm!), but it immediately had my magic wheels turning.
The goal is to make lemonade that will sweetly cleanse you of what ails you. This spell can easily be adapted to add specifiers—see the end of this post for more details.
As always, I will not tell you how to do YOUR magic. This is a technique, not a magic tutorial.
The Basics: When Life Gives You Lemons
Lemons have a long history of use as a cleansing agent. Cunningham's infamous green book lists them as a feminine plant, under the purview of water and the moon and used for the powers of "longevity, purification, love, friendship." (for what that's worth) From an herbal energetic perspective - lemons are considered to be cooling - they are used in the summer to cool hot termperatures and applied to the sick to help bring down fevers. Citric acid is also a bladder stimulant, which we will be making use of for the purposes of our potion-making.
What we associate with lemon as the "cleaning agent" is believed to come from limonene, a terpene found in the peels of most citrus fruits that is both antiviral and antibacterial. Lemonene is used in many cleaners that you can buy on the market but can also be extracted directly from the fruit, as we will do in this recipe.
The Technique
This standard high-end bartender technique makes wonderful, complex sour mixes that can absolutely make the perfect cocktail. Rather than extracting the limonene from the citrus using alcohol or vinegar, we use sugar.
This technique is called oleo-saccharum, which means "oil-sugar" - you are using sugar to draw the essential oils out of the lemon peels, making a natural (no heat) syrup. Note here: this syrup can be used on its own for all sorts of syrupy needs - you could stop the preparation here if you don't love lemonade.
This can be done on the fly (an hour or so), but I highly suggest letting this sit for 12-24 hours for the full effect.
The Recipe
You will need:
5-6 lemons, the best-looking ones you can find
1 1/4 cups sugar
Filter Water (to taste)
Peeler, citrus juicer, optional
Additional magical flavoring, optional
Become better acquainted with your lemons. For the purposes of this recipe, I do this by holding them, talking to them about what I want from them (general or specific cleansing), and rolling them across a hard surface. This last part helps to separate the peel from the pith, which will help you cut away the peel in the next step. Because we intentionally try to release the limonene compounds in this recipe, you may wish to begin by carving your lemon at this step (BEFORE you peel). You could carve your intentions, your name, the names of the people you are looking to cleanse, or any cleansing runes or sigils that you use in your craft.
Carefully peel your lemon. You want to get as little pith (white parts) as possible, as they don't taste good. Take your time here. Really breathe in the scents of the lemon during this. This is the first part of the cleansing process - you are incidentally cleaning yourself and your kitchen as you do this part of the spell. Lean into this. It smells amazing. Revel in it. Think about how it reminds you of everything being shiny and clean as a child. Lemons ARE cleansing - really feel into this here. We won't use the rest of the lemon until tomorrow; you can juice it here or store it overnight in an air-tight container)
Add your lemon peels and the sugar to a mixing bowl and thoroughly massage the sugar into the lemon peels. This should take some time - think fives of minutes at least. You want to do this until you can feel the change in consistency in the sugar - try to incorporate all of the sugar with all of the lemons. Remember, sugar is inherently sweetening, and lemons are inherently cleansing - you combine these two elements here to make a sweet, cleansing spell. Let the smell of it clean out your nose and your sinuses. This is the meat of your spellcasting - you are working your spell into your ingredients. Talk to it. Use your energy. Pray over it. You will know when this step is complete.
Cover your bowl and let it sit at room temperature overnight or for up to 24 hours. The longer this extracts, the more intense the flavor in the finished product. In a pinch, give it an hour, but I suggest waiting at least 8-10 for the best effect.
The next morning, add 2 cups boiling water to your lemon paste and stir until it has thoroughly combined - this is a great place to reinforce your magic from the day beforehand. (This version had the addition of some freshly picked sour cherries which gives its red color)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/94f209914a63a030f8338cca5ca3ea20/603c0b5b40843ce6-27/s540x810/bc4718cc7c180fefa0afc4ce859613501b46f777.jpg)
6. When this has cooled, add the lemon juice and additional water to taste. I personally put this in a half-gallon ball jar and filled it with water, and then my partner and I further diluted it from there.
7. Drink and enjoy. For an extra cleansing effect, consider that part of the act of citrus is that of a urinary stimulant - it will make you pee. Think about how peeing removes things from your life. Remove what needs cleansing. Your spell is complete.
This spell is as simple as that but it can be dressed up in some many different outfits with very little effort. Do you know a flavor (remember, all edibles here) with the right magic associations to add to this spell?
Add some blackberries at the infusion stage for good old-fashioned hedge witch protection. If you really need something out, you could experiment with infusing some jalapeno after you've made the lemonade (tread with a lot of care here...). I've worked with lavender and hibiscus here for calming, cool energies. I recently added a cup of sour cherries to Step 3 for a love-cleansing effect.
There are two ways you can add flavors to this spell: you can mix your flavor in during the sugaring phase, or you can do a secondary infusion after your lemonade has been made. Use your best judgment here - fruits can go in with the citrus peels for sure, but herbs and other more "tea like" ingredients might be better steeped afterward.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm eager to use some of my savory kitchen herbs the next time I near to clear out my money flows.
Or alternatively, use it as the first step in a witchy cocktail (my go-to, as you know). This lemonade makes an exquisite base for a margarita—for a bougie twist, use white Patron and some Chambord; you will not be disappointed.
This is almost a blank slate - sweet cleansing could be used for anything you put your mind to.

If Violette were in a different house, she would be a Ravenclaw.
Although she's not the inteligent and book smart type like Hermione, she's more of a curious and eccentric one. Her head is usually on the clouds, and when she loves something she's really puts her mind into it, plus she's totally introvert but won't stop yapping about divination or gems or any of her hobbies if you mention them to her.
But Violette is not really competitive when it comes to her academics, she doesn't want to bury her nose in books to get top marks in every class but instead focus on her favorite subjects and get just enough grade for her least favorites ones.
#also she dislikes following rules or recipes and she's also not so calculating#that's why she's so bad at potions bc she finds it hard to be so meticulous#hogwarts legacy#hogwarts legacy mc#watercolor#violette laurant#hogwarts legacy oc#mctober2024

Shut Your Mouth Potion
Concoction, non-consumable
1 part liquid laundry detergent - cleansing, to "wash the recipients mouth with soap"
3 parts water - just to dilute the detergent, charge under the full moon for extra oomph
1/2 part lemon juice - purifying, also represents the recipient’s mouth being too sour to speak
1/2 part hot sauce - the recipient’s mouth will burn if they try to speak
1/8 part ash of cloves - stops gossip, purification when burned
1/4 part nettle - stops gossip, sends negativity right back to the recipient
1/4 part slippery elm - stops gossip
Mix everything thoroughly in a wide-mouthed jar. Drop the recipients taglock into the jar—if unavailable, a full name and birthdate or a picture work as well. Optionally, you could use a poppet instead. Seal the jar, shake it, and put it in a cool, dark location.
If the effects begin to wear off, shake the jar again with the intention of invigorating the spell.
When it comes time for you to dismantle the jar or you want to put an end to the effects, simply open it, scoop out any solids for the trash, and pour the liquid down the drain. Physically wash the jar and then cleanse it thoroughly with your preferred method for future use.

The ingredients matter, or it won't heal at all. But the magic and intent of the crafter can make them better. (aka I wish you could take lessons from villagers in later games in place of the dang skill bread)

many people leaving incredibly good analysis on my post. however I have experienced many pieces of media, many of which have all the aspects of kingdom hearts. many of which have the formula down, the length, the mystery, the dedication, nostalgia, emotions, sincerity, goofiness.
