my (probably too optimistic) hopes and dreams for ST season 5

a genuine exploration and explanation of what exactly has been going on with Mike these past 2 seasons. we can guess and analyze but it needs to be confirmed made clear and done well or so help me god-

Will interacts with multiple characters. any characters I'm not picky at this point PLEASE (I'd say main character Will too but that's a given atp)

Will gets to yell at Mike

Will and Mike finally get that hug

Will looses his shit over something One does. idc how or what but it happens and my boy gets to scream

I'd put reveal of Will's time in the UD and Will with powers here but those are also givens (at least they better be lol)

actual OG party scenes

el and Lucas bonding

el has to make a choice between being everyone's savior again and staying to help max and she chooses max

Lucas gets more screen time and development and his trauma is actually explored

free Nancy from being confined to the love triangle drama and explore her guilt with barb thru her friendship with robin

Robin's character gets fleshed out more

Robin and Vickie kiss on the mouth. but that it's not the sole end goal of robin's arc

rain fight gets explicitly brought up through dialogue (preferably in a byler fight)

here is where I'd put painting get's brought up but that is definitely a given

Joyce actually interacting with her kids

return of season 1 and 2 Joyce

whatever they do with max's character it better be done well (this includes her waking up at some point and surviving bc it would be dumb as hell to almost kill her twice only to then actually kill her)

hopper does not go back to being a cop

mike fights a creature with a sword

Whatever is going on with time fuckery gets explained in a way that's not rushed or lazy

Whatever Owens' deal is and what he was doing with Brenner gets explained

free Steve from romance unless it's ambiguous homerotic tension with Jonathan that doesn't get addressed but its. there

Give Erica Sinclair the development and plot significance that she deserves

Argyle is there and he's vibing and he doesn't die and he lives a happy life afterwards, also he teams up with the other older teens

she probably won't but. kali content. please I want her back and I wanna know how she ties into everything

also known as my ideal season 5 vs the exact amount of confidence I actually have in the duffers and what I think they care abt. it’s not nothing but it’s not a whole bunch either💀💀

F it 3515 rant (idk if that’s the right word) I posted in my server a while back (putting it here now cause why not)

Apparently the idea was very simple and doesn’t really have that much going on underneath (makes sense it’s an easy to understand SCP, the only possibly confusing part imo is at the very end). Despite being like that it is one of Psul’s best works (overall and in my personal opinion, although in my opinion it is the best that I’ve read). Such a simple idea taken from digging in a garden being turned into that is amazing, Psul excels at horror overall as well.

The horror of it is peak, and while it isn’t personally that scary to me (more sad than scary imo), I can understand why it scared others. A seemingly harmless object hurting you at one of your most vulnerable moments, and not just hurting you, sending you to an extradimensional space where you’re forced to dig your own grave for eternity, surrounded by your corpses. Not only that the fact that it takes a place that is supposed to be a safe and/or nostalgic place, your childhood home, and turning it into a living nightmare only serves to make the situation worse, since until you look outside everything seems pretty normal and like how it was (aside from the drawing being there).

While yes the horror element of it is good I did mention that I think it’s more sad than scary, I nearly cried while reading which barely ever happens. I think it has the best researcher and D class interaction of what I’ve read. The fact that James actually seems to show kindness and compassion for D-6042 is different but absolutely wonderful to see. Seeing a researcher treat a D class as an actual human is so nice😭. The whole thing about him asking what D-6042 would like to eat when he came back, comforting him as he died, stuff like that shows it more directly, but him also letting D-6042 do his own thing if he really didn’t want to do something, and sending a team to try and dig him up also shows it. Also despite both of them only showing up in one SCP and being very simple characters (D-6042 is literally a complete blank slate) I found myself getting attached to them quite easily.

Also while it isn’t said exactly what it is, the absolute mental fuckery that the place makes someone feel is amazing. Seeing D-6042 originally say he can’t go back when the tunnel collapsed broke my heart. His fear of not only the tree but his own house made me feel even more sad.

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

there's a lot of people that have done things in the past that were bad, because they weren't taught any better, or they were in an overall toxic situation where EVERYONE was shitty (like a cult), or they were just at an especially low point and hurt others for it.

you don't have to forgive them. you don't have to ever speak to them again. you can be angry with them until you die if you want.

but society cannot function if we don't allow them to move on. to change their behavior and fuck off somewhere else and build meaningful relationships without bothering you again. we need a path for people to change, or nothing ever will.
