so i started this show and it just gets worse and worseeeee not only did it lift the romance subplot directly from twilight (and not well) but they also are trying to play the forbidden love angle hard in the fantasy racism vein except it's a "cross-species" relationship between the two whitest people i've ever seen in my life and there are three people of color in the whole (first season of the) show who aren't villains and it seems that every other episode (and sometimes ebery episode and sometimes twice an episode!) there is a man physically or magically subjugating a woman and i keep waiting for the big reveal at the end to be stolen from fucking rainbow rowell

#🎃 cryptid sighting #Misadventures around Portland #Rat King’s Bazaar of the Bizarre #Mike Bennett art #It’s been a long time since I’ve gone to a gallery opening/art event kinda thing- it felt good to get out to one again!#The fact that the installation about a Rat King taking over a fantasy town opened the same day as the coronation- I SEE WHAT YOU DID MIKE #Though I’d trust the rat king more than any human royal #Also- I love faux taxidermy mounts and this was such a fun take on that!#Especially the critters’ butts as matching trophies in the Rumpus Room #All the scenery & characters were layered 2D art standees like this. It had a funhouse/dark ride feel that was really unique!#I’m sorry to say that although he’s done shows like this around town before- I’ve never gone to one #It’s tough to haul my carcass to these kinds of things when no one I know is going-#- but I really should. It was a great little show & gave me some possible future project ideas #The scariest creature in that room though? also i turned 26 today and it was mostly just like. A Thursday. Got to work from home tho if i had to come into the office on my birthday i would've.............. prolly not done anything drastic but i wouldn't have liked that at all lol

pros: we ordered some Special Cookies (if u haven't tried alfajores u r Missing Out), hung out w partner, & their family sent nice messages. finally dipped my toes into franchise mode in planet zoo (so not following a set Theme but starting my own park from scratch with a Likely Overambitious habitat for Spectacled Caimans with an underwater viewing gallery. it's gonna be rad if i can avoid running out of money hhhh. i'll post pics when i've added foliage / rockwork / the actual critters lol) & we're about to do this week's destiny story update thing rn.

cons: my family was A Bit Weird abt it esp my aunt on my mom's side like she typed a whole thing in whatsapp which started with "I think about you almost every day" and then she deleted it when i didn't look at it within a few hours haha.

#lizard-dumbass talks about stuff #text post #i was exposed to a lot of horror content at a very young age because my parents didn't restrict my internet access enough #and a lot of it definitely scarred me (smile hd being a prominent one) and resulted in little me being afraid of the dark #my intrusive thoughts in combination with the stuff i saw on the internet would make me imagine horrifying creatures lurking in the dark #like in the dark shadowy space under my desk when the lights would be off at bedtime #i'm not really scared of the dark anymore but still‚ dark spaces and night time creep me out #and interacting with horror content at night just makes my paranoia go nuts #if i'm the last person awake and all the lights in the house are off except for the hallway that leads to my room then i turn the light #off and dash to my room as quickly as possible #honestly my paranoia sometimes acts up even during the day when it's bright outside but i'm home alone #and then i have to like. hide in my room until the feeling goes away #does anybody else experience this????#i think the majority of us who grew up with the internet have been traumatized by the internet but do y'all have this same paranoia problem #?

every fucking year we get another "no seriously tumblr is dying for REAL this time" scare and at this point i'm just taking an exhausted drag of a cigarette and staring out the window knowing damn well you are not even going to get me looking at another social media platform until either every last one of my beloved mutuals jumps ship to the same alternative or i log on here one day and there are actually red flashing lights all over my dash and an alarm blaring and a robotic voice telling me This Site Will Self Destruct In 24 Hours

#this is legit the longest ive been on any social media #i had a myspace back in the day for all of a week before i abandoned it #i spent about 6 years on livejournal #a couple years on fb before jumping ship and deleting my account #never bothered with twitter or instagram #but ive been on tumblr for something like 14 or 15 years even if i havent actively posted for all of that #but i have been here lurking #tumblr is the only place ive felt comfortable and able to control what i see on my dash since lj #i do miss lj sometimes #it definitely wasnt the same as tumblr but i liked it there...until it died #i hope i dont have to find another social media because as far as i can tell tumblr is the last bastion of anonymous social media #and thats part of why i stuck around #that and being able to curate my dash and actually have things show up in chronological order #i cant stand the whole algorithm “best/most relevant posts first” thing other social media forces on users #i pick what and who i want to see not the algorithm!#also im such an unhinged feral little gremlin now from being on tumblr so long that i dont think i could integrate on any other social medi #it would be like releasing a feral creature into a busy mall or something #possibly amusing for bystanders or outsiders #horrifying for the patrons and staff #and stressful for the feral creature who would probably end up scurrying around haphazardly and scratching and or biting several people #before finding a safe dark hole possibly made by destroying walls in order to hide and using whatever it can find to build a nest #after which it lives on whatever food court leftovers it can scrounge up and haunts the mall terrifying staff and patrons alike #until it becomes part of local legend #a cryptid that teenagers use to scare each other and college students use in hazing rituals #and uh...that up there is a good indication of why i will not thrive on other social media #but im leaving it because its funny to me
