could you imagine if momma arc had Ravens semblance she would make so many visits and unexpected visit to all her children, which I would imagine gets annoying sometimes.

"Bye Mrs. Jaune's Mom~!" Nora waved as the portal closed.

"So, um, this is..."

"Oh, right. Guys, this is my nephew, Adrian." Pyrrha, Weiss, and Yang all cooed as they gathered around the infant. He stirred a bit in his uncle's arms.

"He's so adorable~!"

"Wook at his widdwe fingews~!"

"I want one~."

"Why did you mother suddenly drop him off?" Ren asked. "Is this one of those annoying mom portals you told us about?"

"Yeah, kinda. But it's also because my sister and her wife had something important to do and they couldn't find a babysitter." He looked down to his nephew. "So she asked Mom and Mom... Well, you already know what happened there. She said it'll be good practice."

"Good practice for what?"

"Oh, you know, raising a kid, watching them grow up, maybe inspire me to give her another grandkid." Jaune shrugged, making the baby Adrian coo in his arms. "Normal mom stuff, right?"

"Actually, my mother is all that interested in having grandchildren yet." Pyrrha admitted.

"My mother would prefer the bloodline die with her children." Weiss explained.

"The less said about Raven, the better." Yang scowled.

"My mom is dead." Ruby plainly said.

"Hey, mine, too! Isn't that weird?" Nora beamed.

"...Ren?" Jaune looked to the only other semi-adult male in the room.

"Also passed." The robed man nodded.

"Ah." Jaune nodded. "Bla-"

Before he could finish, the ninja of Team RWBY placed her hand on his shoulder. No words were said, not when the eyes spoke enough for the both of them. At long last, the two had found a kindred spirit, both suffering the same, yet dissimilar fate. They both had a baby-crazy mother.

"Thank you~." Jaune almost cried. Adrian made a face and the girls backed away. "Oh, uh, Blake, could you-" And she was gone. Like the traitor that she was.

I’ve been imagining another AU, one that starts, unfortunately, with the tragedy of Stanford Pine’s twin brother, Stanley Pines. He hears about his brother’s demise from his mother. Most likely, Stanley died before Stanford arrives in Gravity Falls. That’s just the basic plot for the beginning.

So…I was reviewing Passengers, the one with Jennifer Lawerence and Chris Pratt? I became inspired when I saw the robotic bartender, played by Michael Sheen. And it had me thinking about DBH (aka: Detroit(:)Become Human), the game about AI sentience created by this guy called Kamski. And then I also just thought about Astro Boy and Ex-Machina, too.

You’ll most likely know about the Frankenstein AU for Gravity Falls, right? Kudos to the creators, that’s a lot of really impressive and interesting art.

Well, what if Stanford went about developing an android with the initial intent to revolutionize humanity while in Gravity Falls? During the daytime, he’ll focuses on research of the local ecosystem, while in his pass time he’ll be pouring research theories into blueprints for the robot. And when he gets Fiddleford to help him with his project, the robot is molded into Stanford’s likeness because why not? And, for selfish reasons Stanford will keep to himself, he starts referring to the robot as Stanley. Then, you know, Fiddleford will most likely just assume his partner is becoming narcissistic because he doesn’t know about Stanley yet and that Stanford lost his twin brother.

Is it almost morbidly contrived for Stanford to reshape the android to share the same likeness to his brother from the last time he saw him, which was during his wake?

Then, just when the android finally emerges and his processors are all switched on from an unknown power source, Stanley is awoken once more. He just doesn’t realize that yet.

For a shorter explanation for further plot, Stanford won’t be able to handle being in the same room as the android and Fiddleford will have to assume caretaker to the robot while running tests. Stanford will most likely be feeling guilt because he just brought a dead ringer of his brother back from memory. He’ll feel like he’s disrespected his brother’s memory and can’t handle it because he’ll sometimes forget that the android’s not Stanley. While talking with him, Stanford will unconsciously ask what the robot thinks, only to be met with confusion, then Stanford will look at the android for any signs of familiarity on his face. He forgets sometimes that the android doesn’t share any memories between him and Stan. That really bums Stanford out. The android notices but doesn’t know how to help.

Think of this as an alternate version for Wax Stan, except with robots.

Now, imagine if Bill wanted Stanford to build him a body at first when he finds out about his project, only to be rejected. I don’t know how to carry on more with that. I just became inspired by Avengers(:)Age of Ultron.

The portal 2 AU no one asked for but I doodled anyway because they’re silly

The way Lin Ling and Yang Cheng’s arcs mirror each other is so poetic, especially with Moon’s death (still haunts me) setting them up to be bitter enemies.

Here you have 2 young men, with low trust values, low self esteem, and precious few people who both know and care for them. But it’s also here at their start where things diverge. See, as far as we know, Lin Ling had no one. No family. No friends. Just a job that he was passionate about and a boss that hated him. He died and the only person to read about the article on his death was Enlightener. It’s not an exaggeration to say Lin Ling was even more of a nobody than Yang Cheng was.

And Yang Cheng on the other hand, well, we know he had it rough growing up. An orphan with zero trust value meant he was bullied and belittled at every turn. He has a whole mental breakdown over it, even. But then we see him through Xia Qing’s eyes, and we learn that from their first day of class she saw him. She saw the person he was in the same way Moon saw Lin Ling. She and Pamelo both saw the hero that he could be, if only he believed in himself. It’s ironic that despite having a trust value of zero, he had more people in his corner than Lin Ling (as himself, not as Nice) did up until the end of his arc.

And then there’s both of their forays into heroism. Yang Cheng’s story is much more textbook. The classic rags to riches zero to hero start from nothing guy that rises to the occasion when the chips are down. Manufactured or not, Pamelo’s kidnapping highlighted all the things that he and Xia Qing already knew, and that was that Yang Cheng was a hero. A real hero who helps people because he thinks it’s the right thing to do, and he was just like his predecessor in that way.

Old!Soul didn’t care about personal recognition or image, he just wanted to help people. We see time and time again that to him, this whole media circus is entirety secondary to his goal of saving people and doing it well. In this way he’s probably the best hero we’ve seen so far, and the closets to the actual ideal of heroism.

On the flip side, Lin Ling was literally forced to replace Nice. He didn’t take up the mantle because he wanted to line Yang Cheng, but because Treeman got him legally declared dead to save their image, and it’s here that the single greatest difference is highlighted. Where Yang Cheng as New!Soul went out of his way to differentiate himself from Old!Soul as a hero, everything Lin Ling did, from his training to his words, was in service of mincing Nice. He straight up says multiple times that he must become Nice, erase who he was before and paint over with the perfection of the Hero he has to be.

And that highlights another mirror, and that’s that where Old!Soul hardly cared for his image, for Nice it was everything. He’d been built from the ground up as the perfect hero. His (and sorta Lin Ling’s, though I’m holding out for a unique theme) sing is literally called Paragon, and he’s a very unsubtle Superman expy. So not only are Lin Ling and Yang Cheng contrasted in their arcs, so are the heroes they both end up replacing.

And of course we can’t forget their relationships, particularly Lin Ling and Moon vs Yang Cheng and Xia Qing. With the former, for most of his arc Lin Ling only knew Moon from behind a screen or script. He didn’t know her beyond the heroic persona she showed, and he idolized that facade. And yet the moment he sees how she acts behind closed doors, instead of falling from the pedestal he’d put her own, it only elevated her in his eyes. Motivated him to concoct a plan to make her happy.

And Yang Cheng…didn’t do that. He did the opposite, even, stomping all over the promise he’d made with Xia Qing. We know why, of course. He was wracked with guilt over letting Shang Chao die, and had gotten it into his head that Old!Soul was responsible. His low self worth and jealousy actively prevented him from growing closer with Xia Qing, even when she reached out first, and in the end his choice to peruse a battle with E-Soul destroyed their relationship.

And that brings me to the final parallel. The conclusion to their arcs and the final and arguably greatest point of divergence.

In his battle against God Eye, Lin Ling first had to overcome the chains of being Nice. While I could rant for hours on the sheer horror of seeing just how much a Hero is bound by the will of their fans, it’s outside the scope of this post. What I wanna focus on is how Lin Ling’s desire to protect Moon’s happiness totally overrode his desire to be the perfect hero. He had no interest in being Nice if it’d cost moon her life, and willingly shattered his perfect facade to pieces for her sake. Lin Ling realized that to be the sort of hero he wanted to be, he couldn’t be Nice. He realized that he didn’t want to be Nice, not really, and proudly declared himself nothing more then a Commoner for the whole world to see.

And then we have Yang Cheng, who also declared equally loudly for the entire world to see his intention to replace his predecessor, thematically in direct opposition to Lin Ling’s own climax. Both Moon and Xia Qing give similar sentiments of “maybe you don’t have to be the hero who’s name you bare”, but Yang Cheng’s motivation is very different from Lin Ling’s. From the start, being E-Soul had been a conscious choice-and sure, he was definitely coerced in more than a few ways, but he was not legally and physically cornered in the same way. His actions were ultimately, in accordance with the manipulations of Uncle Rock, playing directly into the man’s hands where Lin Ling’s own were in blatant opposition to his corporate backers.

Honestly, I love the way these two contrast with each other, and I hope that in season 2 they’re made to foil each other more directly instead of just having such complimentary arcs.

I'm thinking about Werewolves in mcd

Specifically Garroth.

I think he's built like a brick wall because somewhere up the Ro'Meave family line someone was secretly a werewolf and that got mixed into the lineage (something a couple family members were rather pissed off about).

I think it's pretty old in the family at this point but Garroth has a strong resemblance to some long-dead ancestor who was also so buff and hairy, they could withstand any winter through force of will alone.

Hear me out. Amity Park gets shifted in universes slightly- maybe it’s from Pariah, maybe it was a wish, maybe they did so on purpose to escape something- and they end up in the DC-verse. The thing is, thanks to the media blackout and the shields, no one in the new universe notices. The Amityville Paekers know about outside, can go on the internet and leave whenever they want, but they’ve all become more than a little liminal. More than a little off. Movements too graceful, eyes too sharp, ears too pointed and teeth more akin to predatory fangs. Skin with a soft glow, hair moving as though underwater or being tussled by the wind- bodies seemingly unaging after a certain point. They’re so ecto-contaminated that they’re unsure they can even be counted as human anymore, and it wasn’t like the city wasn’t already practically self sufficient. Add in a portal or two through the Infinite Realms to get supplies to start a few fields or some fish farms and well, they’re pretty good. Sure it’s resulted in them using a mixture of modern and older money and having several extinct plants and animals running around but that’s fine. There’s magic in this world! Actual magic, that they can learn! And use? Oh this makes rebuilding after a sparring incident go so much faster! 

This results in the hero who stumbles across this place to believe they’ve stumbled across some sort of city of fae or elves.

I was gonna initially just leave this as a reply but I'll probably exceed the word limit, but I like this question! This is a good question :]

Honestly with it being this early on in Batman's career, and with Nightingale being the designated emergency support, I can pretty confidently say that Danny's relationship with the other Rogues ranges from neutral to dislike, and vice versa. Just by virtue of it being really early on in all of their careers and thus Rogues like Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn and stuff, haven't had the character development to otherwise be someone worth, eh, well, liking.

Nightingale's role as 'emergency only' means that he's really not seen that often. Bruce is a pretty master escape artist so for him to get in a situation that requires Danny to feel like he needs to step in is rare.

I haven't gotten Nightingale's persona completely set in stone yet, I'm still bouncing around with ideas, but the current gist I've got for him is that he's honestly pretty quiet. He's not there to engage in a fight or banter, he physically can't; he's there to aid the Batman and that usually means subterfuge, sabotage, psychological tricks, to just straight up shooting people with tranq darts depending on his mood that day.

The Nightingale posts I have here are hyperbolic and a bit exaggerated for my own amusement and entertainment, albeit still reflective of what I'm thinking of for the fic. The post this comment came from is a special case in that it was a joke idea I came up with and felt like sharing. It might show up in fic, just in a different format.

With that being said, from the POV of the Rogues, it means that the Batman has this protective little shadow that will pop up at random and either enact psychological warfare on them (distract them long enough for Batman to free himself), break their stuff (make it easier for Batman to free himself), or straight up shoot them with a tranquilizer, and you never really know which it will be until it's happening. Sometimes its all three.

Sometimes its neither of them; sometimes its him freeing Batman without ever making his presence known. One moment the Bat was trapped, the next he's not.

I don't think they even learn what his name is for a while either. He's probably just called smth like 'the Shadow' until people find out his name is Nightingale.

Safe to say though, the Rogues don't like Batman's little shadow that much, and even if he doesn't show up, he invokes this unwilling paranoia in a lot of them whenever they have him trapped. Besides, he's associated with Batman, the guy who keeps trying to stop them, that makes Nightingale a hated figure on principle.

As for Danny's opinion on the Rogues, I don't think there's any of them that he necessarily likes. Sympathizes with, sure, but not like. Folks like Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy and Babydoll fall under his 'cool motive, still murder' banner, where yeah he gets where they're coming from, but that doesn't excuse the harm they're doing. While folks like Black Mask, the Penguin, or Joker, fall under his 'what an asshole' banner, where he doesn't like them just for the obvious reasons of they're hurting people for power.

He probably likes Catwoman honestly, but her main profession is also thief not murderer so she has that going for her.

I don't think he'd have any special opinions on the other ghost characters. They're ghosts; water is wet, fork found in kitchen.

But yeah, as of the timeline right now Danny's opinion on the Rogues and vice versa are what you'd expect. He's not in the field often enough to form a relationship with any of them beyond the normal one, and considering his schtick is "you made Batman need my help" he's not particularly inclined on changing it. Child ghosts can be so protective yk, especially clingy little traumatized ones with separation anxiety.

Your silent protagonist doesn't have to use sign language btw. They don't have to write things down, either. They don't have to use language at all. Not every single person who doesn't talk can use words the same as you, or use them at all, so your favorite silent character shouldn't have to use what you consider a grammatical language to communicate in your fanart and fics. AAC exists. Drawing exists. Gestures and body language exist. Btw.
