I’m bored so here’s a snippet of the pm & ada swapfic (titled: like a mirror years ago)

“I’ll do it,” he said softly to the silence whilst everyone passed glances back and forth.

Dazai-san made eye contact with him from the other side of the room, eyes panicked, but he just repeated his statement louder.

“I’ll do it.”

He glanced at Fukuzawa, hoping for approval, and the older man nodded subtly. He probably should have asked ahead of time, but what was the motto of both Shin Soukoku and Soukoku if not to do it first and get permission later. It’d always been the mafia way and years of separation from actually being a member wouldn’t change that for any of them.

All eyes turned to him.

Kyouka grabbed his arm, long nails digging in, but Mori was the first to speak. “Weretiger…” he drawled, glancing around the room. “Yes, I’ll take you.”

“Then I’ll join the agency,” Ryuu stated as though it was as simple as breathing.

They’d planned for this, yes, but it didn’t make it hurt any less to know that even when swapping places, he’d still be on the opposite side of his husband. Perhaps they were just always meant to end up this way.

The morning sun streamed through the window, casting golden hues across the room as Y/N stirred awake. She blinked groggily, feeling unusually heavy and disoriented. The bed beneath her felt foreign, the room unfamiliar. Panic surged through her veins as she bolted upright, her breath hitching. She looked down at her hands—hands that were calloused and larger than her own. She was feeling stronger, more agile, and surrounded by the masculine elegance of Chuuya's apartment, though she didn't know it was his quite yet. His hat was perched on a stand by the door, his coat neatly hung, and the lingering scent of his cologne enveloped her. She walked to the mirror, her reflection showing Chuuya's piercing blue eyes and signature red hair.

“What the hell?” she muttered, her voice deep and commanding. Familiar.

Meanwhile, across town, Chuuya Nakahara awoke in a similar state of confusion, in a world entirely foreign. He groaned, rubbing his eyes, only to find them softer and more delicate than he remembered. He sat up, feeling an unaccustomed lightness and the silky sensation of long hair brushing his shoulders. He looked down at himself, eyes widening in shock. he stood up to look at himself in a near by mirror, the reflection staring back was of a young woman with hair cascading around her shoulders, eyes wide with shock.

“Y/N?” he whispered, his voice unfamiliar and soft. "This has to be a joke," he muttered, his voice higher and more feminine.

The two spent the first few hours in a state of utter bewilderment, trying to come to terms with their new realities. Y/N, now in Chuuya's body, felt an overwhelming surge of power coursing through her veins—an intensity she had never experienced before. She struggled to control it, fearing she might unintentionally unleash his ability, Corruption.

Chuuya, on the other hand, found himself in awe of the gentle yet profound connection to nature he felt within Y/N's body. He could sense the wind whispering secrets to him, the plants responding to his emotions, and an innate ability to influence the weather. He marveled at the raw, untamed power that seemed to flow so naturally through her.

After a frantic exchange of phone calls and a hasty meeting, they stood face-to-face in a secluded alleyway, away from prying eyes. The air between them crackled with tension and unspoken questions.

"How did this happen?" Y/N asked, her voice shaky "Did you do this?" The accusatory tone, evident.

"I have no idea," Chuuya replied, crossing his arms and trying to appear composed despite the turmoil inside. "I didn't do this, But we need to figure it out. Fast."

Their eyes locked, a mixture of distrust and curiosity flickering between them. They had always been on opposing sides—Y/N, a dedicated member of the Armed Detective Agency, and Chuuya, a formidable executive of the Port Mafia. Their encounters had always been fraught with tension and conflict, but this was different. This was personal.

Y/N laughed, her heart lighter than it had been in ages. "Absolutely. Not. I'm still with the Agency."

"And I'm still with the Mafia," Chuuya replied, his tone serious. "But maybe we can find a way to make this work. The universe has spoken, and I'm not in the habit of saying no to a beautiful woman."

She rolled her eyes, overwhelmed and exasperated. "You're impossible, you know that?"

Chuuya smirked, the usual confidence back in his stance. "I've been told. But seriously, Y/N, this is... something neither of us can ignore."

Y/N sighed, her mind racing. The idea of being soulmates with someone from the Port Mafia was ludicrous, yet the connection she felt with Chuuya was undeniable. "I guess we can figure it out as we go," she said, her voice softening. "Just... don't expect me to make it easy for you."

"Wouldn't have it any other way," Chuuya replied, his eyes glinting with determination.

As they stood there, side by side, the lines between their worlds blurred just a little. It wouldn't be easy, and the path ahead was uncertain, but for the first time, they felt a flicker of hope. They were bound by something greater than their affiliations—something that defied logic and expectation.

And together, they were ready to face whatever came next.

sigma should join the ada this, sigma should join the ada that.

why not just flip everything around and make it worse? im talking the ada and doa swap, the pm and guild swap, while standalones (like shibusawa (although he could be an honorary detective for the doa replacing the ada because there might need to be more detectives instead of four...) or maybe even ayatsuji) keep their roles. no more ada/pm swap aus where everything else is the same. the way i see it, if you're gonna swap a few things around, then every organization should be affected, not just those two. plus, imagine how certain characters would think. their personalities and goals will be relatively the same but there will be changes too, as their organizations also head towards different goals.

i mostly started thinking about this because the idea of the doa replacing the ada is just rlly funny to me and i already have things to say about it. firstly, the name change: Ace Detective Agency. keeps the ada acronym intact, and also assures ppl that these few detectives can ace a case. it also alludes to casino motifs, which is actually how they get money in the times they don't have very many available cases; instead of a cafe, there's a casino run by sigma part-time whenever he's not doing detective work. not to mention that casinos might draw certain criminals to them, especially if they're the gambling type. enough of that though.

the agency office itself will also have somewhat of a casino aesthetic to it, as well as personal areas being decorated in such as way that it reveals the personalities of the four main members (i have erased fukuchi from this universe entirely as he has no use being in it). and yes, you read that right. four. im keeping bram. he deserves to at least have his lower body in this au so he can do things. speaking of which, everyone would still be pretty eccentric, especially nikolai, even if he isn't a murder-happy clown (he is still a clown tho)

nikolai is the type to have a pretty messy desk (full on clown desk with lots of props to prank people with; the whoopee cushion is the bane of sigma's existence), and i could see him also being the first to greet clients (and potentially spook them with his general attitude). he'd still have his core values of freedom intact, but minus the act of being a deranged murderer. essentially, a slightly more stable version of himself, but that really isn't saying much since he still has a weird obsession with murder cases. bro's probably been consuming too much true crime media despite literally being a detective. he also has a pet bird that he hides in his overcoat and brings to work, much to sigma's dismay. i'll let him keep the overcoat due to it being an integral part of his character design due to the nature of his ability, but let it be known that he will be getting a redesign.

sigma is pretty much the same, honestly. he's also the founder of the agency and has shown to be capable of running his casino as well as the agency, but he has thought of letting someone else run his casino full-time. it gets stressful having two roles to fulfill, after all. anyways, he handles himself well and is able to pay off the two rented out floors he has control over due to the amount of money he gets from both jobs. he also pays his employees fairly. overall, he's like an overworked millennial (not to mention a mom friend to nikolai still being a bit of a dumbass even in this au) but at least he's managing. his desk is neat and clean, decorated with casino related things. he tries to get to the door before nikolai can in order to not get his new clients scared away by how over-the-top his clown of a friend can be. sigma takes on less violent cases, although he is perfectly capable of taking them on as well, if need be.

fyodor. yeah, him. his desk is pretty bland, except for the necessities. he makes no move to actually talk to the clients and would prefer that they get to the point. a bit hard to read for the others, even nikolai, which is wild given that they're kinda close. doesn't take up cases often, but when he does, they get FINISHED. he's a very efficient person. as for the times he's not on a case, he's somewhere else. is he gathering intel? is he simply slacking off? is he secretly a traitor somehow? no one will ever know. he's the top detective, at least.

bram refuses to work during daylight hours. his vampiric nature prevents him from being able to do that effectively. this is still good for business though, because he can take up night cases when everyone else goes home for the day! not to mention that being met with a vampire if you tried to break into the agency when you thought everyone had left would NOT be a fun day (or night) for you. his desk is in the darkest part of the room, away from any windows. he's present during the day, it's just that he does mostly office work instead of actual cases. the fridge in the lunch room is always stocked up on blood bags for him, even though he'd probably much rather prefer drinking from someone directly. at least there's a microwave for him to heat them up with. he's also very polite with clients, surprisingly. however, he has yet to stop sprinkling in old english in his conversations with others, but he's learning.

i wasn't planning on turning this entirely into a doa detective agency au post, but i'll elaborate on the other organizations and their members later.

It is a semi-role swap AU that restarts canon by going back 15 years before the start of the main series and asking what would happen if Fukuzawa had joined Fukuchi when he was deployed to Tokoyami Island to fight in The Great War. I just felt like it deserved its own blog because it got so long and I want more people to see it because I'm really proud of it. Sorry if the summary was cringy af. I was trying to make it sound like a real book summary, and not give spoilers.

This fic is my baby, I've been working on it since January 2024. I wasn't even going to post this until it was done, but I'm lacking motivation and I want to know if people even like this so screw it!

Fukuzawa and Mori switched places?

Imagine after Natsume pairs Mori and Fukuzawa up for his plan Fukuzawa finds out about Mori’s plans to kill the current Port Mafia boss.

Imagine Fukuzawa beats him to it and kills the boss first in the hopes that he can at least make the PM into a lesser evil.

Imagine Mori founds the Armed Detective Agency to stay on the tail of the PM and hopefully get Fukuzawa arrested or at the very least force him out of the boss position…

Not the End

this one is for my maladaptive daydream fuel timeline, so it may not make sense in some places. also, there are a few minor details i had to swap around from the real thing (pls don't get mad) Synopsis: reader is hurt after helping chuuya in dead apple. gn reader Pairing: chuuya/reader/dazai Words: 430 Genre: slight angst Warnings: mention of blood

After the events of Dead Apple, you were exhausted. The hard ground didn’t help your aching body or open wounds. You were heaving, forcing yourself to stabilize your breaths.

Part of the city was destroyed, but it was safe from the larger evil. Because of the dire situation at hand, you were ordered to assist Chuuya in the sky to defeat the dragon. Due to your previous work with him in the Mafia, you had no trouble matching his pace. Despite this, you were still roughed up pretty badly after taking down the enemy.

You felt a cold hand reach for your shoulder and turn you around to face upward. You could see Chuuya through your tired eyes, he was also covered in blood.

He coughed, “You good?”

You couldn’t answer him. You felt like you would pass out any minute from the migraine creeping its way into your head.

“Gotcha.” He gently took a look at your injuries. Luckily, none of them were fatal. He knew he couldn’t be with you for too long, so he kept it swift and turned to walk away. However, it began to rain, and he knew he couldn’t just leave you like that. He sighed, took his coat off, and placed it over you. That way, when the agency members find you, at least you won’t be wet. He may have his grievances with you over leaving the Port Mafia, but he didn’t hate you.

He couldn’t. Not after everything you’ve been through together. He understands why you left, to seek out revenge on whoever killed your father. But it still pains him to see you with the agency. To see you with him.

He looked over to see Akutagawa, who was searching for him. “I know, I’m comin’.” Footsteps were heard from behind the two. He knew who it was. “They're fine. Over there.” The noise went towards your limp body.

Dazai kneeled in front of you before picking you up into his arms. “You always gotta get yourself in a bind, huh? You must love it when I carry you.”

If you weren’t so weak, you would have smacked him. However, all you could strain out was an irritated whine. After a few minutes, you fell asleep.

Chuuya, however, had to pry his eyes away from the two of you, his fists clenched. Dazai always had to get in his way, always had to make things more difficult. He hated relying on him when he used Corruption, just another thing Dazai had over him. He may not ever defeat him, but he will get you back. One way, or another.

Bsd Beast except it's Atsushi who has memories of the "original world."

He is the books guide afterall.

Though Atsushi did not make this world, nor know who did.

Atsushi who gets hit by a wave of nostalgia when he enters the cafe but doesn't let himself think on it.

He befriends Kyouka, his heart feels lighter whe she's by his side.

He wonders if they were always destined to be friends, and that makes him smile.

Atsushi finds it funny that there was a time he saved Dazai when here the man saved him.

Though he supposes both of them bought him to them for their own means and plots.

Not that Atsushi minds, he owes everything to Dazai. Though the memories of the other are wild, seeing him as a goofy lazy detective.

But Atsushi knows Dazai, knows the other possesses the same wit and cunning as his Dazai.

Akutugawa makes him pause... A world in which they both swapped, Atsushi went to the agency and Akutugawa to the Port Mafia.

It makes him laugh.

That boy was not Mafia material and yet.

He watches his originals memories, so many things changed and yet so much stayed the same.

Atsushi does not wish for his other self's life, but sometimes he wonders if he could ever be that happy, in control.

He dismisses those thoughts.

The Akutugawa he knows is so much happier than he is in these other memories. So much changed, so much stayed the same but that is a constant.

The lonely boy from the slums found a home.

Atsushi refuses to take it from him. Maybe it's out of guilt for Gin, maybe it's because of their coffee talk and the understanding the two now share.

Whatever it is, Atsushi won't let him lose this.

He looks at the wrist watch, the one from the Headmaster. Atsushi would be nothing if he couldn't save those infront of them.

So he completes his orders, he hides a smile seeing Dazai and Chuuya subtly (well not to him, not now) flirt at each by other's sides.

A Dazai who never thinks of dying and a Chuuya who was never left behind.

He tells Kyouka he'll always be there for her, he sparrs with Akutugawa and sees his eyes light up talking about the agency.

All while hiding the existence of something more.

A world in which Atsushi got his happiness and freedom, while this one wears a collar.

Akutugawa smiles more easy every time they meet, and Atsushi thinks of that everytime the fear and his ability get to much.

He screams into nothingness, clings to his humanity on a severed thread and pretends there's not a world where he never had to suffer like this again.

All for them.

All for him.

Getting blown up by one of his bombs and it hurts him

But then he heals really quickly in a flurry of butterflies

Surprisingly, very calm

Does a quick scientific method to  figure out what the hell happened

Scared for Akiko when he realises 

because he does in fact have a crush on her

He worries she’ll get hurt or hurt someone else

He starts running to the Agency

AKUTAGAWA

Rashoumon goes in the middle of a fight

A fight with Atsushi, no less

Then suddenly he’s a tiger

He pAnIcS

He’s trying to hide the pAnIc

It’s not working

They’re both terrified

And trying they're very desperate best not to show the other that they are

They keep fighting

“Cuz damn if I don’t keep my promises

I said I’d fight you

So I will!”

Also, I’m extra mad at you for whatever you did!

“B-but I didn’t do anything!”

"DaMn JiNkO, you’re so incompetent you can’t even hold onto your own ability."

“Hey! We both switched, don't act like you’re better than me!”

“Think of it like Rashoumon . . . but in reverse. Byakko isn’t a gun or spear, but a massive shield!”

“You gave this . . . thing a name?”

“Yeah, so what? She may be an ability, but she deserves a name, just like Elise.”

TACHIHARA

He’s sparing with Gin when he suddenly flickers out of sight

He sees the snow but Gin doesn’t

He immediately recognises Tanizkai’s ability

“How could I forget it after he almost decapitated our entire organisation?”

But why tf would I have suddenly got Tanizaki’s ability

“And do I still have mine?”

Then he starts figuring it out

He uses it to his advantage during the sparring match

Because he figures I can’t solve this right now 

so I might as well make the best of it

He thinks there’s a cool kind of power in knowing your invisible

“You can do basically anything you want!”

ARMED DETECTIVE AGENCY

FUKUZAWA

Gets jump scared when Elise appears in his office

So confused

She’s like “I’m yours now.”

He’s like “nO, you are NOT.”

“Of course I am, you do love Stupid Rintarou, don’t you?”

“Y-yes . . .? Normally I’d say so without question, but I have a bad feeling about where this is going.”

She explains what happened, because as an ability she has an understanding of it

He’s a little shaken

But he likes her so he becomes chill with it

He does know however that his employees won’t be chill with loosing their abilities

He hides Elise in his office with a colouring book he had bought for her

Constantly reminding himself that this is temporary

“I’m a grown man with employees working under me, I must remain calm”

He actually loves Elise, even if he doesn’t spoil her as visibly as Mori does

As soon as the ADA realises (yet the employees still haven’t realised who some of them have swapped with and what it means 😉) he’s like “I’ve got to call O- Mori-dono”

“Why?” They’re all immediately suspicious

“To let him know this is not in any way our doing of course.”

“Oh, yes, of course.”

He and Mori are like “I was just about to call you!”

“Ougai, come get your feral child!”

“Yes, I’d like her back as much as you, but shockingly, we have larger problems.

He tells him that the PM members have the ADA members abilities

dun Dun DUN!!!

DAZAI

Knows what’s going on at once

He’s thrilled!

“I can fly!”

“I can jump off the roof and scare the crap out of Atsushi!”

“Oh wait, but now I can't jump to my death anymore, stupid automatic activation ability.”

But he’s always worried for Chuuya

b/c Chuuya is used to having his ability

He doesn’t want Chuuya to be hurt

He also thinks it’s funny as hell

Because he’s a little shit

He wants them to all get their original abilities back

But he FULLY intends to take advantage of this while he can

Chuuya calls him like “WTF did you do to me mackerel!”

Then Mori explains and Chuuya calls Dazai to rant about how he “can’t believe a piece of garbage like “shitty” Dazai is my soulmate!”

KUNIKIDA

After he sees everyone’s ability is messed up he tries to make something with his book but it doesn’t work

He wonders who he swapped with because he doesn't feel any different

He starts trying to do other abilities (reminds me of that once scene where he’s buy Atsushi’s bedside after the fight on the ship and he’s trying to show Atsushi that he’s calm and ready for anything and is doing martial arts to the air or whatever) and none of them work

Then he gives up and decides he should ask around if any of his underground sources know what’s going on

He’s trying to call it and the phone is doing stuff without him touching it

Goes to get check up on katai before he loses his mind of boredom and sadness without his computer skills

KATAI

He never uses paper so he doesn’t notice he’s gained a new ability

But he does notice that his computer has stopped listening to him

But he’s far too emotional and lazy to inquire so he just starts to mope in depression

Luckily Kunikida is there within 30 minutes to “save” him

AKIKO

She doesn’t notice until she has to treat Tanizaki 

b/c he stabbed himself by mistake when he magnetised a scissor to him

He explained it that he just dropped it

b/c he didn’t want to admit what happened b/c he was to freaked out

She starts dismembering him when and then realises😬😰😶

Tanizaki starts panicking and unintentionally flinging her metal tools everywhere, injuring both of them.

Yosano immediately knows he swapped with Tachihara but has no time to be amused

They speedrun like every ability to figure out who she swapped with

“Try levitating something!”

“Here touch Tanizaki, see if it makes him stop!”

In the end, it’s Kajii who comes to them because he likes Yosano and wants her to be safe.

So he shows up just in time and Yosano shows him how to heal her and Tanizaki.

ATSUSHI

Suddenly he’s no longer a tiger, but a human

And tendrils are coming out of his clothes

He’s scared because he can’t regenerate now

And he’s scared for Aku 

b/c Aku doesn’t know how to defend himself using the tiger

He wants to stop fighting

But at the same time, he pushes to his highest potential (it makes him exhilarated, and maybe something else . . .) because he knows Aku will just regenerate

Aku’s teaching how to use Rashoumon while they’re fighting

“Not like that, idiot!”

“It requires finesse!”

“As base a creature as you doesn’t deserve her*!”

*rashoumon is a referred to with s female somewhere in the manga/light novels I think

“Slice with the edge, imbecile!”

“Don’t use your body weight, you brute! Let Rashoumon do it for you!”

“Stab, not slash, you stupid oaf! And send tendrils out remotely. You don’t have enough technical skill for that, weretiger. Your specialities lie in brute strength and maximum destruction. Use that! Random features of my BSD age swap au

Kyouka and Q (Yumeno Kyuusaku) were the equivalent of Double Black, but I haven't figured out what to call them instead. Either way, they were a terrifying duo where between Q's raw destructiveness and Kyouka's stealth, as well as Q's psychological manipulation and Kyouka's resourcefulness and logic, basically no one could beat them. Until Kyouka left anyway

PS Q did not take Kyouka leaving as well as Chuuya took Dazai leaving. There is So Much Bullshit going on there

Atsushi is Oda, RIP. Akutagawa is Ango if he'd been a PM spy in both the government and Mimic

Gin is an Executive

Aya is Ranpo. Fukuzawa is a girldad. She actually has an Ability but has trouble accepting it due to her (now dead) birth father's abuse.

Ranpo and Yosano are the Agency's resident teenagers (14 and 15 respectively). Ranpo is still in his 'everyone is a monster and I'm scared' phase because Fukuzawa hasn't quite managed to get the lie to click; him and 18 year old Dazai bond oddly well over this.

Tachihara was Rimbaud, technically. There's some logic in my head that makes this make sense. Yes, this means Tachigin is Rimlaine in this AU, and Gin is every bit as pathetic as Verlaine is.

Where are actual Rimlaine? ...Good question.

Kenji is Kunikida, technically. Q is not jealous at all (lie)

Higuchi is a Black Lizard commander. Don't ask me how this works.

Kouyou is unfortunately locked in the Port Mafia's basement because Golden Demon is a lot more destructive than Demon Snow was. (She's Q).

Chuuya attacks Dazai on the train (how Kyouka attacks Atsushi) though he's significantly less inclined to blow himself up. Unfortunately for him he winds up blown up anyway.

Mori gets to traumatized even more children - he gets to directly mentor Kyouka and Q, then Dazai, and Yosano.

Does Yosano join the Agency before or after Dazai? Yes.

"The Port Mafia transfer" is the best thing to happen to me. I live for the intrigue, I live for the drama. We know it's not Yosano, so thank God for that, but everybody else is fair game. So. Having some more thoughts with your Swap!AU (It is glorious. It has lived in my head rent free for several hours now.) I have some thoughts, mainly with the Guild Arc. Please don’t feel pressured to answer each one of my questions!!

— Beginning of the Arc:

1: How would Chuuya react to Kouyou attacking Atsushi and somewhat playing a part in separating Atsushi and Kyouka?

2: Would Chuuya have still contacted Ango, leading to the car accident, and thus leaving Atsushi alone when Fitzgerald first showed up?

— Atsushi’s Capture:

1: Would Chuuya realize, or perhaps sense that something happened to Atsushi when the tiger was first captured and taken on board the Moby Dick?

2: How would Chuuya react to Atsushi’s capture by the Guild if he was aware of it? Would he storm up there if someone didn’t stop him?

— “Incineration of Yokohama” Plan:

1: How does Chuuya behave during the Guild’s “Incineration of Yokohama” plan? Does he act like his cannon counterpart and try to save the citizens, or would he be doing something else?

2: How is Dogra Magra stopped? Is it still Dazai that finds Atsushi when he lands from the airship?

3: If it is Dazai that finds the tiger rather than Chuuya, would Atsushi still pose the idea of the Agency and Port Mafia teaming up to defeat the Guild, even in the face of a Port Mafia Executive?

4: Again. If it is Dazai that finds Atsushi, and assuming Dazai was alone (likely to keep away from any misunderstandings with subordinates, now that I think about it) Would he take Atsushi back to the ADA building so he could recover from his injuries? (He likely knows No Longer Human would keep Atsushi from healing while the tiger was on his back, but also doesn’t want to deal with Chuuya yelling at him for leaving Atsushi passed out in the street where he could still be shot at)

5: Going off #4. How would Chuuya react to seeing his apprentice (*cough* little brother) being carried in by Dazai while badly hurt?

— Atsushi vs. Akutagawa on the Moby Dick:

1: Would Chuuya now be on the other end of the earpeice, or would it still be Dazai?

2: Would Akutagawa try and fight Atsushi while on board the Moby Dick? Or would he behave differently?

3: Based off #1. If it is Chuuya on the other end of the earpeice, would Atsushi still need to use it to distract Akutagawa? Would Atsushi keep wearing it past that fight if it wasn’t damaged?

4a: (Now going by the assumption the connection is Chuuya and Atsushi) would the link to Atsushi remain active on Chuuya’s end, if we were to assume it was somehow Dazai that was contacting Kyouka?

4b: I don’t exactly know why. But Chuuya being the one to give Kyouka the odd pep-talk(?) seems weird, considering he didn’t necessarily want to leave the PM, but rather he was forced to do so. However, Dazai, the one who had forced Chuuya out could likely reach out to her in some way. I suppose a motive for Dazai saving Kyouka would be Oda. He’d be “saving another from the darkness,” after all. He’d likely know Kyouka needed to pass an exam for Fukuzawa’s ability to take hold and allow her to control Demon Snow too.

6: Based off #5, Assuming Atsushi’s earpiece wasn’t damaged, would Chuuya hear Fitzgerald talking about Atsushi’s past in the Orphanage? How would he react if so? (Considering not only was Chuuya learning about what the orphanage did to Atsushi, he was learning about it from someone other than Atsushi- who simply talked about the abuse like it was nothing, or perhaps wanted to use the past to make Atsushi shut down).

6: Would Akutagawa still react the same way to Fitzgerald speaking about Atsushi’s time at the orphanage? (Assuming their relationship at the time is slightly different than it is in cannon.)

Hello fellow yttders!!! Tis i!! The midori connoseuer who drew him once during jeandori takeover.

Under cut is a midori centered (Though The main cast have alot of elaboration on them, too.) yttd bungo stray dogs au me and 3 other people thought on a bit.

I intended to do something bigger with it. But since im working on the midori dating sim. I just cant. So im using this as a sort of hivemind post for anyone to compile ideas for this au!!!

So! Let us start with the *new* ability users and their abilities

Sou 'midori' hiyori:

Ability: "the silence of the lambs"

Affiliation: Armed detective agency. (Early story)

Rats in the house of the dead (later in the story)

This ability, allows anyone with contact to midori to establish a mental connection to, midori. Where they can swap out conciousness, speak telepathically. Or even hear the other persons thoughts and emotions. Midori is the one in control of all of that, though.

Now, as you might have guessed. This *does* have something to do with shin. Specifcally, midori ripped a layed of his skin, sew it into a scarf. Which shin now wears!! Meaning as long as that scarf is on shin. They can swap out conciousnessnesses! Shin is aware of this.

Funfacts: in yttd we see that midori has a very slight hunch. In this au, its due to shins bad posture, blowing his cover whenever he was in midoris body. So after many horribly gone attempts in fixing shins posture, Midori had to compromise.

Midori mostly uses shins conciousness in situations where his "non human way of thinking" would be a hindrance like: when he was passing the ada entrance exam.

Gin ibushi:

The switch is instant. And happens in the blink of an eye.

The name "midori" was given to him by the ada

Ability: "Knuffle kitty"

Affiliation: port mafia

Gins ability, allows any plushie animal, organ, or essentialy 'living tissue' made by gin. To become functional as if it were a living thing. With gins ability, you can easly replace someones organs or limbs as long as theres a surgeon to attach the plushie limbs to the actual host. He can also create poisonous animals to then throw at his enemies. Which is whoever is watching over him most of the time. (Lets face it. Its shin and sou who're getting stuff thrown at them.)

Fun facts: gin was transferred to the port mafia via saras request.

Kyuusaku and gin were buddies before Q witnessed the horrors.

Mori views gin as a sort of "mini yosano" and has a little collection of poisonous insects which gin has made for offensive use.

When dazai first met gin, in chuuyas presence. When gin began speaking in his "woof, meow" s. Dazai pointed at chuuya and said "he talks like you"

Joe tazuna:

Ability: 「トリプルドッグデスバラージ」 (TRIPLE DOG DEATH BARRAGE!) (Sorry i had to)

Affiliation: port mafia

His ability. Is self explanitory.

There are three dogs.

They will death barrage you.

And they regenerate atsushi style.

Funfacts: hes here due to!! Sara!!

He tried to get ryoko (was that her name??? Doner kabab gurl.) Into the port mafia too, but sara said its too dangerous for her.

Sara chidouin:

Ability: "Muses, mad men and prophets."

Affiliation: Port mafia

Her ability is meant for crowd control, and large, quick genocide. Whenever sara kills someone. They manifest as a "hallucination." Of themselves. Which wander around like normal passerbys. She, can swap her location with any of these "hallucinations" . No matter how far.

Hallucinations cannot be contained. And pass through walls. Hallucinations will dissipate after an hour has passed.

Funfacts: she works with kouyou for her training.

She was introduced to the port mafia via her father.

She kicks ass

Reko yabusame:

Ability: "perfect pitch"

Affiliation: port mafia

Juonos hearing. She can detect sound waves. She is all hearing. She detects them snitches.

Funfacts: she came to the port mafia for alice.

She and nao are girlfriends

Tia safalin:

Ability: "Babushka's doll"

Affiliation: none (sort of.) She does freelance work for whatever faction needs her. She has the most expirience working for the special ability division, rats in the house of the dead and the port mafia.

Her ability allows her to create dolls which she can give a portion of her memories to, they will then function as normal people. And can go through with tasks.

Funfacts: i got none

Maple:

YUP!!! MAPLES FINALLY GETTIN SCREEN TIME!!!!

Ability: "The tea party in the woods"

Affiliation: none (because she deserves happiness)

Her ability causes the person shes using her ability on, to expirience a vision in their mind. Which time does not pass in. The vision will display the most comforting envoirment for the person the ability is used on. Maple, can interact with the other person during this vision. And the vision can only be stopped once the host, has drunk a whole cup of tea. This room can be used as a sort of quick therapy room, or somewhere to share confidential information with. Only 3 can enter at a time.

Funfact: she comes to the cafe under the ada very often, and has made great friends with lucy and atsushi. Shes also met midori, but its just a little baby crush.

Now, we get to characters with no ability, and their affiliations.

Alice Yabusame:

Hes part of the port mafia due to reko

Yelling. Alot of it.

Shoved in here by midori so he pays for the attempted murder

Tries his best.

Keiji shinogi:

Affiliation: Armed detective agency.

The wahaha man.

Hes a little like ranpo, in that he has no ability but is very preceptive.

When he joined the ada midori was so panicked he forced shin to interact with him. So now midori has to act like shin whenever keiji is talking to him.

Its not fun.

His arrival at the ada was NOT expected.

He was transferred to the ada from the speacial ability division.

Kanna!!! :

Affiliation: port mafia, because she kicks ass.

She helps out with mais bakery alot since its right below her house.

Shes learned alot from sara. And it shows in her fighting style.

She fights with her FISTS

She likes kyoka alot. Kinda sad shes in the ada, and sneaks to go to the cafe to see kyoka.

During one of these sneaking sessions shin (in midoris body) spotted her. And now shin has to cover for her whenever shes off to see kyoka.

Just. Genuinely a very kind girl

She doesnt deserve to be in the port mafia. And everyone knows that.

She could probably beat chuuya in a fist fight if chuuya didnt use his ability.

Shin tsukimi:

Affiliation: port mafia.

Shoved in here by midori.

Everyone and everything is out to kill him so he has a gun and several knives under his very large coat.

Most of his time is spent yelling at computers because theyre too slow for his liking.

Picks fights with sara over the stupidest little things, which sara wasnt even disagreeing with him on.

The unfortunate person who has to watch over all the children

Koyou scares him.

Higuchi is like the only non intimidating person to him, and exclusively because of how non-decietful she is.

Hatred for dazai osamu

People i dont have much thoughts on:

Megumi is a part of the special ability division.

Hayasaka is a member of the port mafia

The satous are part of the port mafia.

Mishima and nao live normal lives.

Q-taro is a part of the guild.

Hanako is an ex port mafia member

Clown girl is leading a normal life as a clown. (But im kinda considering throwing her in rithod and giving her an ability)

Ranmaru joined the port mafia for sara

Miley works with tia. But has ties to the port mafia

Teki....is teki???

Shes like..the miku of bsd i guess.

Main plot points im experimenting with: (midori exclusive)

Midoris motive from joining the ada being finding fyodor due to more information on "god" and assuming they follow the same god for this.

Midori being found out by dazai/ranpo/keiji , because midori is forced to switch into shins body to save shins ass during an ada raid. (Probably during the cannibalism) because midori isnt skilled enough in combat to hide his combat style. And shin cant fight for shit.

Midori getting his ass beat by keiji due to giving him piss hair and trauma.

Midori and fyodor kiss and make out (aka midori magically manifests in the tower during dead apple because his ability would just...be a copy of shin)

Color in the new BSD intro

So, I have spent some time thinking about the new intro and its use of color. I find it interesting how it might be foreshadowing events to come and its symbolism.

At the end of the intro, we see all our characters colored in a way that represents their allegiance. 

Cyan- the Agency, Purple- Port Mafia, Yellow- the Guild, Blue- the Decay of Angels, White- the Hunting Dogs, Orange- the Special Ops. Division. 

However, there are a few outliers: Mushitaro, Poe, Aya, Chuuya and Aku. Mushitaro- orange despite not being affiliated with the special ops. division. Poe and Aya are cyan even if they’re not with the ADA. I originally thought that maybe Poe is cyan because of his friendship with Ranpo but Lucy, another ally of the ADA, is still yellow. Raises questions for me. 

Chuuya and Aku are red. My theory is that red represents death. Aku is the first major character outside Oda to die. Him being red makes sense. Chuuya, however, is still unknown. Why is he red? It’s not because he’s a vampire. Otherwise, Tachihara, Jouno, Gin, and Hirotsu would also be red. Is Chuuya ok? Asagiri-sensei explain. 

Another side note on color: Fukuzawa and Mori swapped colors when we see them together. Fukuzawa is red and Mori is blue. Usually, it’s the other way around. Could it be hinting at Fukuzawa’s death? Mori is blue probs because he’s helping the agency during this tough time. 

Anyways, I thought the use of color was interesting. If anyone has other theories surrounding Chuuya and Aku, I’d love to hear them.

My solution to absolutely everything that troubles me late at night is to yell to the rooftops about whatever has my interest, be it yapping off in my brain or reaching out to my bros. But tonight I decided “here we go I’m giving up my wack ass AU to Tumblr” as my coping skill.

It’s an age swap au mostly centered around DazAtsu (this is your cue to leave if your not here for that) and the 18 Dazai navigating through grief and life in the agency, along side his strange growing feelings towards Atsushi that he just can’t seem to name. the way I see it is that since him and Atsushi have swapped ages, it’s either his past would have taken place much earlier or he would have just skipped the years in hiding and gone straight to the other side like Oda had wished of him.

I’ve actually had two fanfictions written for it so far that have almost NOTHING to do with adjusting to his life because of inconsistency but I will still post the first one as well as the second one hoping I didn’t just copy paste the same exact link twice. Funny story I actually came up with this thanks to taking part in the 2023 DazAtsu week over on twitter before I deleted the app and account, it came with a art piece I’ve featured previously on here, those are (kind of) their designs but those aren’t the updated ones. God now that I’m thinking about it I’ve been cooking this up for MONTHS and haven’t said or done much of anything on it publicly.

Actually while I’m on my tangent here is the doodles, showcasing them mostly

I leave a lot of things unfinished in terms of both art and writing. But, without further adeiu here’s some little facts I managed to keep bouncing in my pinball machine of a brain:

• Dazai had been in contact with Ranpo after Oda’s death and received an offer to become a detective. While waiting by the iconic river for who he thought was Ranpo intrusive thoughts struck him and he jumped into the water. Atsushi fished him out and gave him his coat.

• he’s been stealing that damn huge coat any chance he gets ever since

• Dazai had one of Oda’s shirts, it became a source of comfort after his friend’s death to the point he just hardly took it off.

• Atsushi’s attire, though hardly professional is actually acceptable considering what his ability does to clothes.

• Yosano, Dazai, and Kyouka all share a close somewhat familial bond over their dealings with the port mafia and Mori. Yosano also has a spare key to Dazai’s dorm incase he relapses.

• Dazai still cannot cook for shit no matter how people try to teach him, not even his mentor crush Atsushi is successful in doing so.

• Dazai always feels intimidated by Fukuzawa, and tries his hardest to avoid eye contact with him afraid he’ll disrespect him.

• the dynamics of skk and sskk are mostly unchanged other than sskk being both wiser between themselves, and skk being two feral little shits that need to be put in cages.

not sure if I mentioned Chuuya and Akutagawa being swapped like Dazai and Atsushi. Oops.

Look at that you got to the end, feels good? Bad? Well you got here anyways. I quite enjoyed rambling to the walls of my enclosure hoping to be given a piece of cheese, I actually forgot about my stresses for a moment whilst i ran to go grab my sketches. ‘Twas nice, happy holidays you crazy people who decided to read this post.

I love the role swap AU's with Bungou stray dogs so this is my idea for one. Though this is pretty much a rewrite.

18 year old Osamu Dazai leaves the Port Mafia after Odasaku was killed. 2 weeks later, Dazai met up with Cheif Taneda who put in a request to the Agency.

Dazai stays underground for 6 months. Because of his past Dazai is put under supervision of Ryuunosuke Akutugawa and his partner Doppo Kunikida.

Neither are particularly pleased about babysitting but do so anyway. They will all grow on each other, very much.

Dazai spends a lot of time in the office lazing about as he's not an official member yet. A sentiment he loves rubbing in Kunikida's face when the latter tells him to make himself useful.

He does end up sorting some files in the cold cases box. The one he picks to read is about a tiger. "A tiger showed up in Yokohama ?"

"Figures you'd find that one. Yeah, it was what 6, maybe 7 years ago. Caused us quite a lot of trouble, and than vanished into thin air."

Akutagawa explains, almost fond. "You think if I find it I'll get the bounty?" Asked Dazai, Akutugawa snorts "If you do, let me know. I'd love to see it."

Dazai's entrance exam is his canon entrance exam though it's with Akutugawa and Kunikida on the case with him.

He passes and is made an official member. It's at his welcome party where Akutugawa gifts him his brown coat. (Akutugawa's wearing his grey one from Beast)

Dazai is still wanted by the Port Mafia though and a bounty is put on his head. Akutugawa senses that's something is up, declining the Agency's weekly dinner to go out.

"Ooo? Does someone have a hot date tonight?" Teases Dazai. Akutugawa rolls his eyes, ruffling his hair "nothing like that you brat. I'll see you later, and atleast try and behave for Kunikida."

"I make no promises" grins Dazai, leaving with everyone else and talking to Gin. Gin's a student and works part time at the Agency like Junichiro.

Akutugawa chuckles at their antics and heads elsewhere. "Didn't think you'd actually show up. Long time no see, traitor." Said Atsushi Nakajima.

The Port Mafia's White Reaper.

He's sat eating something from a lunchbox and Akutugawa mock gags. "Did you really have to bring your lunch with you?" Atsushi smiled and it would've looked innocent if Akutugawa didn't know him.

That, and the blood in his teeth definitely didn't help.

"Didn't know the Agency made you soft. You were never the squeamish type." Atsushi moves his head out the way before Rashomon can stab him, too used to Akutugawa at this point.

Though thankfully Atsushi puts his meal away. His demeanor shifts to a more serious one.

"About the information you asked for, I hate to admit it but you're right. The Boss wants Dazai back for obvious reasons. But he's not the only one searching for him, he didn't put the bounty up."

Akutugawa frowns "who is it?"

"Funnily enough, same people hunting me." Said Atsushi and Akutugawa paused. He hadn't expected the Guild to be after Dazai.

"And before you ask, I don't know why."

"Of course, but you must have a theory."

Atsushi snorts "I thought you were the Detective here?" He hums thoughtful. "They want me for the book, who's to say those reasons are connected? But..."

He shrugs "I can't say what they'd need him for. Other than that his gift must be involved."

Akutagawa nods, as vague as it was it made sense he supposed. "You can ask Kyouka if you'd like, but I'm not getting more involved in this." Said Atsushi, an edge to his tone.

Akutugawa wasn't suprised. The fact Atsushi still met up with him on occasion and was willing to divulge even this much said a lot.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the Port Mafia as loyal as Atsushi. Mori had plucked him out of an Orphanage that was hell on earth and raised him.

Atsushi had practically pledged his soul to the man. His need to save others became replaced with a need to protect his city, something he excelled at from the shadows.

Akutugawa's purpose was to protect, similar to Atsushi's but he had forced himself to fit into darkness. While Atsushi was a light that could only exist in darkness.

Atsushi wasn't an executive but he was invaluable to the Port Mafia, invaluable to Mori.

Akutagawa knows if Atsushi had someone left with him, Mori wouldn't have simply let him go.

If Mori asked Atsushi about these meetings Atsushi would tell him. But otherwise he'd keep this to himself, it spoke of his loyalty to Akutugawa even after the man had left the organisation.

"Of course, I wouldn't want to intrude on your job. How is Kyouka by the way?" Asked Akutugawa, switching to a much safer topic.

Atsushi smiled fondly, a genuine one unlike the one from earlier.

"She's still on desk duty at the office. You'll probably see her around."

Kyouka was also a special case. Her parents were government assassins and had been killed at her home. Their unit had taken Kyouka in and raised her to be their true successor.

Kyouka was a talented assassin and became the governments spy into the Port Mafia. However unbeknownst to them, she'd switched sides.

Akutugawa reckons it was because of her close sibling bond with Atsushi and himself.

But whatever it was, Kyouka came clean to Mori and he offered her to be his eyes and ears. That's what she became.

All the while searching for the answers of who caused the tragedy that lead to her parents deaths that night

When Atsushi said she was at the office, it meant Kyouka was currently with the Special Abilities Division. The two still met up to get tea now and again.

"Oh, and I didn't take this job. It wasn't handed to me." Said Atsushi, Akutugawa looked at him in suprise.

He'd expected Mori to trust only Atsushi with such a task.... Which meant something else was a foot. Perhaps he wanted the Guild to get Dazai first.

"Can I ask who has?"

Atsushi smirked "Nakahara."

Akutagawa was quiet for a few moments before chuckling. "Of course, who else would be sent."

The animosity between those two was something that rivaled Akutugawa and Atsushi in their early years.

Chuuya Nakahara, formerly the King of Sheep was a force to be reckoned with. He'd only been with the Port Mafia for 3 years, same as Dazai and he'd taken the place by storm.

It wasn't any suprise given his gift. And that he'd been mentored by both Kouyou and Atsushi. And from Atsushi's demeanor, Akutugawa knew just how proud he and Kouyou were of him.

If Akutugawa had to guess Mori was trying to make a new Double Black out of Chuuya and Dazai. Which meant something was definitely up.

He'd say good luck getting those two to work together, but the same had been said that about him and Atsushi.

"I guess I better prepare myself for that fight." Said Akutugawa with a grin. Chuuya wouldn't give him shit for leaving, as long as Akutugawa gave him a worthy fight that was.

"You'd better, he's a lot more stronger the last time you sparred." Said Atsushi, getting to his feet. "I best be off, it was good seeing you."

"And you." Akutugawa watched him vanish into the shadows before heading to the restaurant the Agency were seated at.

Dazai grinned, waving him over to a very obviously saved seat. "I thought you'd be back, your date go that bad?" He was teasing him, but there was a hint of concern.

Akutugawa smiled "I told you, not a date. But it went well, and I am starving." Dazai inspected him for a moment before grinning "well, order up Kunikida's paying."

"I did not agree to this!"

Yeah, Akutugawa was going to protect this kid no matter what.
