Last night was perfect. It was a cool and crispy night...a joyous break from the oppressive heat of the last few weeks. We sat out on my sisters porch and enjoyed a wonderful dinner by music, candle and firefly light... we supped on corn pudding, kale salad , sausages and caprese...drank a wonderful hard cider from New England and for dessert, she made me a birthday pavlova. Just me, Jim, my kids and my sister, brother in law and nephew. It was a quiet, perfect way to start the weekend. Tonight’s supper was just so good... I love to use burrata in a salad this time of year.. it’s easy, filling and delicious. It also pairs so well with so many things... last week it was fresh peas, watermelon and mint... today it ripe peaches, red onion, raspberries, greens and cucumber. I paired this with a quick baby zucchini soup enhanced with dill, cumin and cream and then blended in the @vitamix . Thank you @the_chefs_garden_ohio for such good vegetables to play with! So I recently found my mother’s favorite Waterford glasses tucked away in the back of a cupboard. Two 90 degree days in a row and I now know why she loved them so much. Almost everything tastes better drunk out of a glass you love, but in my experience something about a crystal glass will always chill a drink more evenly than a regular glass. Shown are a screwdriver made with the new #ketelonebotanicals Peach and orange blossom infusion for the cutest boy in the world, and mine is a classic vodka and tonic made with the Rose and Grapefruit infusion. Another really easy porch supper from leftovers! I really love leftovers... this bowl is the last of my lettuce from last weeks CSA box, sweet potato fries, really good tortilla chips and last nights pork roast that I turned into barbecue with lots of onions! I topped it with a bit of cheese and some wonderful micro greens...so easy...and it took less than 30 minutes leaving me more time for playing in my yard! Next time you don’t know what to make, just take a deep breath, open up your refrigerator and just toss something together!
