"The very possibility of defending oneself is the exclusive privilege of a dominant minority. In the case of the beating of Rodney King, the state (through the intermediary of its armed representatives) was not regarded as violent, but as reacting to violence... Conversely, for Rodney King, as for every other body victimized by this rhetoric of self-defense, the more he defended himself, the more indefensible he became."

LUCY’S THIN BLUE LINE
Lucy and Law Enforcement ~ Part 3
Tumblr media
On “Here’s Lucy,” Lucy Carter not only had multiple run-ins with the police – she actually became Sheriff for a day! Here’s a look at Carter and Cops!
Tumblr media
“Lucy’s Impossible Mission” (1968) ~ In this “Mission:Impossible” spoof, even the police are in on the caper. John J. “Red” Fox was best known for playing policemen, which is what he did on five of his eight appearances on “The Lucy Show” as well as three of his five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” The policeman has no lines, but is kicked by Lucy to get his attention and says “Ouch!”
Tumblr media
“Guess Who Owes Lucy $23.50?” (1969) ~ Van Johnson plays himself and his evil doppelganger.Orwin C. Harvey plays the Security Guard (right). Harvey has one line, spoken off screen. A second Security Guard goes uncredited and has no lines.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Ex-Con” (1969) ~ Lucy and a safecracker (Wally Cox) go undercover as Little Old Ladies at a dive bar. Vince Howard played the policeman on the extreme left. Many of his 125 TV and film credits were as law enforcement officials. Howard also played a policeman on “Lucy and Mannix are Held Hostage” (1971). Larry J. Blake (policeman on right) is making the first of his eight “Here's Lucy” appearances.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes on Strike” (1969) ~ Harry refuses to give Lucy a raise so she goes on strike with the other secretaries in the building, including Isabel (Mary Wickes). John J. ‘Red’ Fox returns as the cop on the beat in front of the Bradshawe Building.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Great Airport Chase” (1969) ~ Government Agent Bill (Morgan Jones) appears to investigate international epsionage in an episode shot on location at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The G-Man is never addressed by name but listed in the end credits.
Tumblr media
"Lucy Helps Craig Get His Driver's License" (1969) ~ A motorcycle cop (Ray Kellogg) faces off with driving test examiner Wibur Hurlow (Jack Gilford).
Tumblr media
Inside the police station, the officers issuing licenses are played by (left to right): Herkie Styles, Joseph Mell, and Sid Gould.
Tumblr media
“Lucy's Burglar Alarm” (1969) ~ Detective Harvey Gaynes is played by Elliott Reid, who also appeared on “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy, the Cement Worker” (1969) ~ Lucy disguises herself as a street construction worker to find a valuable ring she’s lost. She encounters the cop on the beat, played by Harry Hickox in the first of his three episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Viv Visit Tijuana” (1970) ~ At the border, Harry is questioned by a customs officer played by Don Megowan in his only appearance with Lucille Ball. He is perhaps best remembered as the Sheriff in The Wolfman (1956). His final role was as a police sergeant in the 1979 TV movie Mrs. R’s Daughter.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Wall Cox” (1970) ~ Lucy helps Wally Manley (Wally Cox) get a job as a warehouse security guard where they encounter armed criminals.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Ma Parker” (1970) ~ Carole Cook plays a master criminal. The police convince Lucy to take her place in order to nab her associates. Harry Hickox (Lieutenant L. Hickox, left) makes the second of his three episodes of “Here’s Lucy,” all as policemen. Stafford Repp (Police Detective Halloran,  right) made a career of playing policemen even before he became famous as Chief O'Hara on TV’s “Batman” (1966-68). He played two different officers of the law on “Dennis the Menace” in 1962 and 1963, alongside Gale Gordon.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Raffle” (1971) ~ The Baliffs in the courtroom are played by Emile Autuori and John J. ‘Red’ Fox.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Carol Burnett aka The Hollywood Unemployment Follies” (1971) ~ Lucy and Carol stage a musical revue featuring a tribute to the operetta Rose Marie (1930 & 1940). Four Mounties (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) sing “Stout-Hearted Men”. From left to right: Sid Gould, Kay Kuter, Johnny Silver and Mike Wagner.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Mannix are Held Hostage” (1971) ~ In this cross-over with the Mike Connors private eye series “Mannix” (saved from cancellation by Lucille Ball), the policemen are played by Vince Howard (left) and Robert Foulk (right).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Celebrities” (1971) ~ Sid Gould plays the Security Guard at the gate of Morton Pictures. Impressionist Rich Little stars with Jack Benny.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Candid Camera” (1971) ~ Allen Funt plays himself and an evil imposter, getting the Carters to participate in criminal capers under the impression they are on “Candid Camera”.  Law enforcement is played by (left to right): Peter Leeds, Robert Carson as Sergeant Lou Holmes, and Paul Sorenson, who played policemen many times during his career.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Chinese Curse” (1972) ~ When Lucy saves a laundry owner (Keye Luke) from a safe falling in the street, reporters and the police are on the scene. Frequent background performer Walter Smith plays the policeman. He had appeared with Lucille Ball in Forever Darling (1956), as well as in Desilu’s “The Untouchables” and “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“The Case of the Reckless Wheelchair Driver” (1972) ~ Lucy, in a wheelchair due to her broken leg, is set-up by a conman (Jesse White). Law enforcement officials are (left to right): Officer Rafferty (Robert Foulk), Sergeant Montgomery (Hal Hickox), and Officer Egan (Ed Hall).
Tumblr media
“Dirty Gertie” (1972) ~ Lieutenant Egan is played by Craig Stevens, who is probably best remembered for playing the title role in the private eye series “Peter Gunn” (1958-61). Egan questions Lucy and says he's “just trying to get the facts, ma'am.” This is a paraphrase of a quote from another famous TV detective, Joe Friday on “Dragnet.” The role of Lieutenant Egan was originally written with Webb in mind. Stevens even imitates Webb's deadpan delivery.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes to Prison” (1973) ~ When Lucy goes undercover in jail to discover where Mumsie Westcott (Elsa Lanchester) hid her stolen loot, Matron Wilson is played by Jody Gilbert, who also played a prison matron on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
Two uniformed policemen are played by uncredited actors and have no lines.
Tumblr media
“The Big Game” (1973) ~ Jerry Jones plays a policeman on the prowl for ticket scalpers at the stadium. Prior to this, Jones played a policeman on “The Doris Day Show” and “The Brady Bunch.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy Plays Cops and Robbers” (1973) ~ On the side of the law are Officers Spencer and Riggs, played by Dick Sargent and Gary Crosby. Rumor has it that the police officers were supposed to be played by “Adam-12” (1968-75) co-stars Martin Milner and Kent McCord. Like “Here’s Lucy,” the NBC police drama was filmed on the Universal lot. Gary Crosby played a recurring role on “Adam-12.” In the script, one officer says to the other “I think we’ve been riding together too long” which would have been even funnier had it been an already famous pair of policemen like Milner and McCord. The episode features Al Lewis, who famously played Officer Schnauser on “Car 54 Where Are You?” (1961-63).
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Sheriff” (1974) ~ Lucy finds out that her grandmother was the first woman sheriff of a Montana town that is celebrating its centennial. She is asked to play her grandmother at the celebrations, which include the recreation of a bank robbery. Lucy is enjoying playing lawmaker until a couple of genuine robbers interrupt the celebration and take her hostage!
Tumblr media
Flora Belle Orcutt (the fictional one) is supposedly the first lady sheriff in the West. In real life, the distinction of first woman sheriff has been disputed. Some say it was Texan Emma Banister (1918), but others claim it was Mary Roach (1922-27) because Emma had inherited the position from her husband. Still others believe the title belongs to Kansan Mabel Chase (1926). Mrs. James Latty of Burlington, Iowa, was known as the first “Unofficial Woman Sheriff" as far back as 1870.
Tumblr media
Lucy the Sheriff meets Sheriff Bart Thomas, played by Orwin C. Harvey.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Calls the President” (1977) ~ In the CBS special, Lucy Whittaker (Lucille Ball) is scheduled to get a visit from President Jimmy Carter. In advance of the visit, the Barker home is visited by Secret Service Officers Thatcher (Joey Forman) and Stockley (Stack Pierce).
Tumblr media
Stone Pillow (1985) ~ Lucille Ball plays a homeless woman living on the streets. When another homeless woman dies on her corner, the police are called. Pat McNamara (Officer Daggett) played Sheriff Perkins in Silence of the Lambs (1991).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Guard Goose” (1986) ~ This unaired episode of “Life With Lucy” was originally scheduled for broadcast November 22, 1986. When crime hits M&B Hardware, Lucy enlists the help of a guard goose. Charles Levin plays Pasadena’s finest Sergeant Green. Green played a policeman on two episodes of “Punky Brewster” (1987-88).

Dc x Dp Prompt
Is my classmate a secret love child of a rouge?!?!
Tim drake knew he was odd, with dark circles blacker than black holes, and skin as pale as Elsa’s, but some how this kid made him perplexed.
Danny Fenton was a genuine mystery. The first time he met the boy, was in the police department, asleep on one of the couches. He was waiting to be questioned about a mugging (because he was NOT a gothamite and actually went to the police about it) and fell asleep, and Tim was alarmed when he touched the boy’s paper- white skin and it was ICE COLD. Like- Tim probably would have been stuck to the ice if it was actually there, kind of cold. Yet, the boy was alive. His slow, too slow to be normal, breathing proved that.
Tim met him a second time in a college class, which they apparently shared? He was wide wake, with 3 cans of Red Bull and 2 cans of monster, and SOMEHOW Alive. How does someone genuinely do that? Then, he mentioned something about his parents during a group project.
“Yeah, my parents lab had ‘safety suggestions’ but they never followed them. Honestly it’s a miracle I’m still here.” He said. Then, as he thought no one was looking, but TIM WAS LOOKING, he accidentally froze his drink.
Tim froze up.
Mr Freeze has a son?!
___
Tim slammed the door open to the batcave, where the whole family was, and shouted “FREEZE HAS A KID?!?
(No, he doesn’t. Danny has NO CLUE what is happening, or why Tim Drake is so inquisitive, but he didn’t care. Gotham was full of weirdos, including himself. Tim is having a mental crisis that is not nessesary. Freeze is wondering why the hell the bats are talking about a kid. He doesn’t HAVE a kid. )

Elsa Bergstrom at the Legends Awards 2023
The fading former queen of pop herself arrives to the Legends Awards and honestly, I was starting to forget about her. No seriously, what has she been doing lately because it's not releasing music. Regardless, it's cute. She dressed up and the color compliments her well which is better than most people tonight so props to her I guess.

Insatiable Madness (10)
|Sagau Yandere Fatui Harbingers x Reader|
You need to start planning an escape.
Reader is Gender Neutral!
Tumblr media
It wasn't the most flattering picture of you they decided to use. At least you could find some humour in that fact.
"...Why are you just staring at 'the television'?" Sandrone raised an eyebrow, looking distraught.
"Oh, hey, you're on there!" Childe pointed out. "You famous?"
"Something like that..." You mumbled in return, trying to hide the smug smile on your face.
This is perfect. They couldn't read the roman alphabet! Not only can you use this against them to plan an escape, but you can also insult them later for it!
Illiterate bitches You snickered to yourself.
"Yesterday afternoon, a local fast food restaurant in '_____ ___ _______' was attacked by an unknown group. Police officers found in the area of the crime were frozen solid in strong ice, scientists all across the country have come to try and understand how such a phenomenon could happen."
The screen changed to the fast food restaurant you were taken from yesterday, to a hospital ward with remnants of ice all over the floor. The camera panned upwards to a man laying on one of the hospital beds. His face looked awful, like he'd been revived from the dead. His nose red and lips blue, he was shivering as nurses rushed to get heatpacks for him.
"When the first officer was thawed, he had no memories after he'd been turned to ice. From what our journalist's gathered from him, the group whom attacked the restaurant kidnapped a civilian inside the facility, killing all who remained inside and allowing children to run away from the scene."
The screen then cut to a zoomed in clip of him sitting up, visibly in a better condition than before.
"Could you tell us what happened?" A cameraman from behind the screen asked him, the police officer looking directly into the lens of the device.
"It was... traumatising." He answered in a low tone. "I had ran from the station after being called to an emergency downtown. Something about an answer to a 999 call expressing worries of there being a hostage. My co-workers ran out of the police car first, and shouted from outside the building."
"And?" The cameraman pushed him, noticing the officer's hesitation.
The officer sighed, his breath shaky, then continued.
"A woman calmy walked outside, at least I think it was a woman. I remember my friends shouting for 'a lady' to stop walking towards them and put her hands in the air. Last thing I remember is seeing something blue and shiny heading right for my co-workers and the police car I was in."
"Bah!" The cameraman laughed out loud. "You're saying she was the one who almost froze you to death? Don't be ridiculous, unless you dreamt Elsa." He mocked.
"But, that's what happened!" The police officer shouted at him, the footage of the hospital suddenly going black.
"The Police Station checked all officer's body cameras. However, from the external ice interference, all footage was damaged and therefore unable to be investigated."
Another picture of you, different from the first one displayed earlier, transitioned next to the lady reading from her script. Her face showed one of concern.
"The missing person is Mx Y/N L/N, a college student who was kidnapped at the location. They were the one whom called 999 and first alerted authorities to the situation inside the building. Our heart goes out to them, in hopes of them being safe." She said sympathetically. Her face soon changed to an interested one, forgetting about all the death's in the first place.
"Just who could this group and 'lady' be? Where did they get the power to turn others into ice? Perhaps the lady is their leader! Let's hope an update on the situation comes soon. To find out more, go to our websi--"
You turned the television off with a disgusted expression on your face.
Fake. Arse. Bitch.
"Her??? 'The Leader'? Fuck that shit." Childe scoffed, arms crossed with a glare sent towards the woman.
"Enough, Childe." Signora scoffed back, rolling her eyes at the child clearly fuming.
"So, everyone knows you've gone missing?" The Regrator whistled, fiddling with a mora coin and sitting on the only armchair which hadn't been torn to pieces.
Ugh, you forgot they could still understand the English language.
"Yup." You sighed.
"Even though I already know the answer," Scaramouche huffed. "Do you have friends who could have seen that and immediately thought to check up on you at your house?"
Oh yeah, if only you had friends who actually cared about you! Then, maybe someone would come looking for you. Also, was Scaramouche implying you had no friends!?
For his information, you knew plenty of people and had a lot of 'friends'! ... Unfortunately, you don't think they care enough to drop by your house.
"Pshh!" You shoved his shoulder lightly, slightly hurt. The puppet scowled and rolled his eyes. "Of course I do. They just... aren't available right now." You lied with a shrug.
Scaramouche simply stared back at you. "Uh-huh, I believe you." He shook his head, walking away.
"Hey, don't walk away from me. You need to- HEY, THAT DOESN'T MEAN EVERYONE ELSE CAN TOO! CLEAN THIS GOD DAMN MESS YOU LOT MADE OR I SWEAR TO-"
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Everyone walked off to do their own thing around the house after that... cleaning session. You spied on what the harbingers were doing, a notepad in your hands with scribbled writing full of potential ideas to get away from the house.
You'd crossed out many plans:
Use phone, call someone?
Definitely not, you'd be heard and questioned by the harbingers then lose your phone to their control. There's no doubt in your mind Pierro would let Sandrone and Dottore get their hands on it.
Run out house, when everyone is sleeping?
Wouldn't work. They said it themselves, some of them don't sleep. Plus, most of them probably have supersonic hearing.
Suggest to go out together then secretly pass someone a note?
Too dangerous. The harbingers would quickly catch on to what you were planning, and would potentially kill the person whom you asked for help.
Ugh! This is terrible. Your dumb brain has thought of every possible way to escape, and they all end up in failure! They're too risky, the phone one is the most ideal but you'd never risk your phone being taken away too early! It could be detrimental later down the line.
"Decider. If I may have your attention," The old sounding voice of Pulcinella coughed from in front of you. "I would like to ask a question."
"A question? I mean, it's not like I can stop you from asking it." You hid your notepad from his view.
You didn't want to make the harbingers suspicious. Even if they couldn't read what you were writing.
"Insolent child." Pulcinella sighed to himself, shaking his head. "What exactly do you plan to do about the food?"
"Huh? Whaddya mean 'the food'?"
"Whilst your meal from last night was delicious, I noticed from how it tasted it isn't the... healthiest option. Feeding 12 people, including yourself, is quite a task so I understand why you prepared something like it. But, aren't you worried about eventually running out?" He scratched his mustache, sitting on the sofa next to you.
"You're right." You sighed back to him with a nod. "I'll need to go shopping soon to get more food for everyone. But if I start doing that, I'll eventually run out of money."
"The Regrator can lend you some Mora---"
"Fuck that." You scoffed. "First of all, I know just how harsh the Fatui are with debt. Second of all, Mora isn't even the currency used here."
"You mean to say The Regrator is worth nothing in this world?" The old man's face grew amused.
"I mean, he wasn't worth anything to begin with..." You grumbled, trying to be as quiet as possible. "Anyway, I'll need to go to the cornershop and grab us some food."
"You won't be going anywhere." Pierro walked into the room, a small yawn erupting from his lips.
"Welcome back from my office." You glared slightly, Pierro glaring in return.
Well, technically it's not your office. Buuuut, your father did always joke how it would be yours when he dies... so yeah, it's yours now.
"I see no reason why it must belong to you when you are so concerned of your bedroom." He put a piece of paper in front of you.
"What does this say?" He dropped the paper on your lap, you giving him an eye roll before taking a closer look.
It seemed to be a... private file addressed to your dad. Something about house bills being paid at a certain date. Wow, that's not interesting at all.
"Don't you know privacy is the only thing I have left now?" You scoffed, pushing the paper away from you.
"Now, Now...." Pulcinella scolded you, his walking stick digging into your foot. "Treat The Jester politely."
"Fine. I don't want to read it to you since they're my father's personal affairs, got it?" You winced, sighing in relief when feeling the pressure on your foot fade.
"Understandable." Pierros sighed to himself. "It looked important, with this script being written in thicker ink."
I could have sworn Teyvat has made something equivalent to a printing press... How else would 'The Legend of the Sword' have gotten so popular? You thought, scratching your cheek with a confused face.
Well, Pierro was right either way. What he didn't know, was the bold text he deemed important was just the money paid, and the next date due.
Not like the house bills mattered anymore, you were assumed missing and the house is probably not going to be visited for at least a year due to the janky government.
Besides, you were missing, not dead. According to the law, you have seven years until you need to worry about the police barging down the door. You probably won't live that long, so yay for legalities sake!
"Well, it would have been important for my mother and father before you ripped their carcass' in half. Now it's meaningless, ...for the next seven years or whatever." You gave a sassy reply, handing the paper back to him.
"Could you put it back where you found it? You'll probably not let me back in the office."
"Very well." He took the paper from you, leaving the room without another word.
"You, Mx Decider, need to work on your manners." Pulcinella gave you a side-eye.
"I have manners, but I won't give them to people who killed at least 30 people because they couldn't 'find the person they were looking for'. And then proceeded to kidnap them and--"
"I am getting tired of your blathering." He cut you off, a vein very clear on his head.
"One would say you act worse than Tonia back in Snezhnaya, but that would be a compliment. The situation is over and done now, I don't think you realise how much trouble you're actually in at this moment."
"Well, old man, everyone has a different coping method for traumatic situations. It just so happens that one of mine is joking and yapping on and on and on--"
"Understood. Just, shut up for the sake of my headache." He rubbed his head with his fingers, effectively shushing you.
"Must you have an answer for everything?"
Ahh, being annoying truly has its perks no matter who you annoy. From a scolding mother, to a bloodthirsty harbinger.
Anyway, you have an idea. You may look like an idiot trying, but you have evidence it could work.
All the Harbingers called you 'The Decider', meaning they recognised you before you even met them. This must mean they were aware of your existence before they left the game and entered your world.
Arlecchino in particular, she commented on Aether's existence being involved with your title. This means you're tied to him in some way. Perhaps.. If you were to log in to Genshin again you could ask him what in the fuck was going on.
You're not the smartest person, but this seems like the most obvious choice right now. You wish you could say the same for it being the easiest choice.
You hadn't logged into Genshin since you were forcefully taken out of the bathroom's in the restaurant. Were you really ready to go back to Genshin? The game which started all of this?
Tumblr media
This is definitely not two (technically three) weeks late or anything... ahahah....
I, 100%, purposefully uploaded this on Valentine's Day.
Yup.
Anyway, I'm very unsatisfied with this. But I really wanted to post it. I'll try to make the next one as long as possible since I'd like to personally not make too many views...
One day, I'll most likely combine some shorter ones into one whole view if that makes sense :3 (I think I've mentioned this before...)
Tumblr media
Please don't expect too many happy, nice and generally fluffy scenes.
This is Yandere, a genre which should never, under any circumstance be considered normal. It's abusive, unhealthy and leads to a lot of victims facing awful conditions which they never should or ever have to endure no matter who they are.
This is fiction that I'm writing, meaning it's all taken light-heartedly IN A FICTIONAL SENSE.
If anyone, by chance, is currently in conditions where a loved-one or yourself has suddenly become distant and/or being hurt when away from eyes please get help. Talk to them, or if it's you, talk to someone you know you can trust.
If you can't talk to anyone, find authorities who can help you. Call 999, as it is in the U.K, or your local emergency service. They will always help you, and will never deny your rights or freedom.
Thanks for reading this, I hope all who's reading knows this information already, but I thought I'd include it since who knows when it comes to where you are in the world and whether your education programs taught critical information like this.

HUGE NEWS!
In 2020, Elsa Sjunneson became the first blind writer to work on Daredevil when she included a Matt Murdock cameo in the audio serial Jessica Jones: Playing With Fire. Now, finally, she is getting to write the actual comic, at least for one issue, hopefully opening the doors for more DD work in the future!
Here is the solicitation for Daredevil volume 8 #8, which is slated for publication in April:
"A dragnet is closing around Matt Murdock, A.K.A. DAREDEVIL! Police on both sides of the law are hunting him, something vicious with a deep connection to Matt’s very soul is hunting his friends and, in the midst of that chaos, an old foe with the blood of Matt’s closest allies on his hands returns…"
The writing credits for the issue are "Saladin Ahmed & more", so presumably, Sjunneson is included in "& more". April cannot get here fast enough, as far as I'm concerned. I'm very excited, for her and for the comic as a whole, which has gone far too long without input from blind/visually impaired creators.

A newborn baby found earlier this year in Newham, east London, is the third child abandoned by the same parents, the BBC can report.
DNA tests presented to the East London Family Court established that “Baby Elsa” is the sibling of two babies, a boy and a girl, found in very similar circumstances in 2017 and 2019.
Despite appeals by the Metropolitan Police, their parents have not been identified.
The BBC and PA Media were given special permission by the court to report the sibling link - and that the children are black.
Judge Carol Atkinson said the story was of "great public interest" as babies are very rarely abandoned in modern Britain.
An expert told the court that, in his opinion, the genetic findings provided extremely strong scientific support for the view that Baby Elsa was “a full sibling” of the other two babies.
The older children have been adopted and Baby Elsa remains in foster care.
She was found by a dog-walker in January in sub-zero temperatures - the coldest night of the year - wrapped in a towel inside a bag.
The other babies - named Harry and Roman - had also been abandoned after birth in the same area of London.
They had been wrapped in blankets. One was also inside a bag.
Family Court documents stated Baby Elsa still had her umbilical cord, and doctors estimate she had been born only an hour before.
Although she was extremely cold when found, Elsa was described as crying and responsive. The court has since heard that she is doing well.
The Family Court has heard that the children - whose names have now been changed - will all know that they are full siblings, and there are plans for them to have some form of contact as they grow up.
The reporting of the sibling link was not supported by the local authority and England's Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), which advises courts about children's best interests.
The Met Police said it was up to the court to determine whether the link between the children should be reported, but they told the court they did not wish to “inadvertently promote or encourage struggling mothers to abandon unwanted babies in public spaces”.
East London Family Court is taking part in a transparency pilot, which has been extended to cover almost half the family courts in England and Wales. This makes it easier for the BBC and other journalists to report cases.
The BBC and PA Media argued in court that it was a matter of public interest that the three children had been abandoned at birth by the same parents.
Carol Atkinson, the most senior judge in East London Family Court, agreed.
“Abandonment of a baby in this country is a very, very unusual event,” she said, adding that there was considerable public interest in such cases, for that reason.
She said the fact the three babies were full siblings was, for the same reason, “of enormous interest” in “our current society”.
She said that if she were to refuse reporting, it would affect the “public consciousness” of these matters, and restrict open justice in such cases.
The BBC and PA said further reporting was likely to assist the authorities in locating the children’s parents, and that highlighting the relationship would put the focus back on the children’s mother.
Very few babies are recorded as abandoned at birth in England and Wales. The ONS only published data until 2015, and that showed no babies were registered as abandoned for the previous three years, with just one logged as abandoned in 2011.
However academic researchers estimate the number higher, at about 16 per year - in analysis covering the period 1998-2005.
The press reported on an abandoned baby in Hackney, east London, in 2020 - and another in Birmingham in 2021. Their mothers were eventually traced, several months later. ______________

How a crime of passion led to Turkish antisemitism
This is the tragic tale of Elsa Niego, whose name might not ring a bell outside the Jewish community of Turkey. In fact her case led to an antisemitic frenzy  and a campaign to get the Jews of Turkey expelled.
Tumblr media
Elsa Niego and her killer. the case caused an antisemitic frenzy in the Turkish press
The year was 1927. Kamal Ataturk, the father of Turkey, the modern successor state to the Ottoman empire,  had declared a  fiercely secular republic three years earlier. He was already putting pressure on the Jewish community to abandon its  religious institutions and Ladino language.
Elsa Niego was a 20-year old Jewish girl who worked as a typist for the National insurance Company in Istanbul. She was the only breadwinner as her father had died. But her family could still spend their summers holidaying on the Bosphorus island of Helbelyada, which was popular with the Jewish middle class.
That summer of 1927, Elsa was spotted  on Helbelyada by Osman Ratib Bey. He was 30 years older than her, already had two wives and grandchildren. Osman Ratib became smitten with Elsa and even asked for her hand in marriage. When her mother refused (there was no question of a Jewish girl marrying a Muslim) Ratib  tried to kidnap Elsa with four accomplices. The mother filed a complaint with the police and Ratib and his friends were jailed for a while.
When Elsa became engaged to a Jewish co-worker, Rattib was driven insane by the news. He lunged at her with a knife when she and her sister were out for a walk. Elsa was stabbed eight times in the stomach and her lifeless body left in the street for hours. Her sister, who had tried to protect Elsa, was stabbed twice in the thigh. The police prevented Ratib from being lynched.
The next day, 25,000 turned up for Elsa’s funeral, demanding justice for her. Ten protestors were arrested, including a young solder who was accused of sedition. The antisemitic press demanded that Turkey break off all ties with the Jews. Anti-Jewish demonstrations spread to Izmir: Jewish schools were closed down and Jewish newspapers prevented from publishing. Meanwhile the press demanded that the Jews be expelled from Turkey.
Osman Ratib did not go to jail : he was sent instead to a mental asylum. In 1938, another inmate murdered him.
Postcript: this story was told to Point of No Return by LB, a lady whose family had emigrated from Istanbul to London. LB’s mother, who was related to Elsa Niego, was four in 1927. She was  also named Elsa Niego.  However, after the murder, the younger Elsa, who suffered from tuberculosis,  was taken to the synagogue and given a new name. Her original name was thought to have brought her bad luck.
Her parents were advised that the child could only be saved if she was sent to France. The little girl spent five years in a sanatorium run by nuns. Her family joined her in France and eventually they moved to England.

Hi! Lookin for a story I've read before. Kurt is married to Dave who is abusive. Blaine, his friend, convinces him to go on a road trip with him without telling Dave. They go to bar and someone harasses Kurt, the offender ends up getting shot by either Kurt or Blaine (can't remember) they plan to run away. Dave sends police to look for Kurt and I remember K + B pick up Puck at some point. They stay in a hotel together. In the end they end up living in Canada under new alias, with the help of one of the police officers. Thank you!
I don't know the fic you are asking for, so I'll open it up to the fandom to see if they know the actual story. Here are three I found which have Karofsky as abusive partner to Kurt - I haven't read them. Hopefully they are something you might want to read. ~ Jen
Lessons in Being a Man by whatsernamelambert [PDF and EPUB]
Kurt is a beloved music teacher and, along with partner Dave Karofsky, proud father to 6-year-old Ellie. Blaine, his best friend, is a young Chicago lawyer who unwillingly becomes the leader of a statewide gay rights movement. When Kurt and Ellie’s home life turns violent as a result of Dave’s alcoholism, Blaine opens up his home to them. Brief Kurtofsky, Klaine later.
~~~~~~
Try Me by xCaellachx
Kurt is in an abusive relationship, but is determined to make it work. Blaine Anderson is the campus fighter who likes to give Kurt a hard time. When it becomes clear that Kurt’s relationship is going in a dangerous direction, Blaine steps in and finds himself offering to help Kurt.
~~~~~~
Kidnap My Heartby misskaterinab
Kurt and Blaine meet in a large children’s store when Kurt’s daughter, Elsa, runs off and runs into Blaine. The two men hit it off immediately, but Dave Karofsky, Kurt’s ex, shows up and takes both Elsa and Blaine by gunpoint. Kurt and Cooper, as well as Blaine and Elsa, bond during the ordeal, and through the eyes of their loved ones, Kurt and Blaine begin to fall for one another.

DOG POLICE
An crossover show idea i did a while back
The shows like a mix between scooby doo and sam and max, about an independent freelance dog police force who deal with more outlandish and dangerous criminals in the city.
the character bios Dog police bios by dragonboy
Clifford: The head of the force. Tall, strong and imposing, yet a bit airheaded with a kind heart. Cares for the team like a family.
Martha: The team's communications officer and second-in-command, fluent in over a dozen languages. Firm yet caring. Isn't afraid to speak her mind. She makes sure everyone stays focused and not get into too much shenanigans.
Chase: An accomplished police puppy from Toronto, Canada. Leader of the world-famous Paw Patrol rescue team, working with the Dog Police is his "side project". Treats it with the same dedication as his main profession. Often accompanies Bluey and Rockruff so they stay out of trouble
Bluey: A puppy from Brisbane, Australia, and the youngest member of the Dog Police. Kind, innocent and playful. Loves thinking of inventive ways to solve a crime, especially if it can be made into a game. The team needs to be extra careful with her if things get dangerous.
Zoe: Expert detective with a sassy streak. Mastermind at figuring out mysteries and whodunits. Very fashion-concious. Don't mess with her hair!
Snoopy: A dog of little words, but one with a brilliant and analytic mind. Writer in his down-time. Always has his nose in a true crime book.
Aleu: A wolf-dog from Alaska. Zoe's best friend. One of the most hands-on members of the force. Not afraid to get her paws dirty. Ready for a fight even before she knows who shes fighting, though sometimes this approach gets her into trouble.
Courage: Ironically, a big coward, but a lovable one at that. Acts as the team's psychogical consultant. Trying to get over his phobias of a myriad of things. Skilled in cimputer tech and works with Dawkins to locate criminals
Elsa: The team's medic. Often seen training new recruits. Will always help out a fellow teammate or anyone injured at a crime scene. Can be egotistical at times, especially loves playing the leader when Martha or Clifford isn’t around, but always means well.
Dawkins: A Dalmatian from London, England, and just one member of a large family. The team's chief scientific advisor and tech support. Filled with knowledge despite his young age. Hes made several useful gadgets for the team at their disposal
Brian: an average joe-turned-sniffer dog from Quahog, Rhode Island. A ladies' man with a great singing voice and an expansive drinks cabinet. Can sniff out any form of contraband from blocks away. He does get annoyed with some of his teams dumb antics but does get along well with the others
Rockruff: The second-youngest of the team. A fireball of energy who brings a chaotic, upbeat energy to the team. Snarky at times, but in good means and being playful. Though he always has the feeling he's being controlled by someone.

Someone in a discord said that the framing for m night shyamalan’s trap sounded like a Henry danger episode and I could see it so clearly. Here it goes
Ray balls out for tickets so he and Henry can see the eras tour. They take Piper and Charlotte with them to save their masculinity. Neither of them want to be there.
Henry is in the perfect boy version of the Red fit, piper is in a stage accurate version of the lover leotard because she needs it for ig, wearing a cardigan is as much effort as Charlotte would put in, Schwoz is fearless but its like a party city Elsa costume, and jasper couldn't decide between folklore and evermore so be went with reputation and is basically in bondage gear —its giving Jojo siwa. Ray is dressed like John Mayer.
Henry and Ray keep getting called to coordinate threat response with the police and keep coming back to their seats during set breaks only to be dragged away as the music starts meanwhile Charlotte is being converted to a full blown swiftie
It twists when they find out the threat is coming from their seats
And it twists again when they find out that Piper has been calling in bomb threats because of how much attention jana tetrazini got for being at the Ariana grande show that was attacked. Now no oned can find piper.
Smash cut: piper is still in her taylor swift get up but now across-town in the pit at gwar
