#pokemon fanfic idea

Ok so I've got this Pokémon fanfic idea that's been consuming my brain thoughts for the past hour or so and I want to get it out there so it doesn't just drift off into the void

Basic Plot Blurb: Main Character travels through the Orre Region, currently going through a tumultuous period of change on an ecological and social scale, and deals with their three Rivals along the way.

Why Orre? Well if I recall correctly, Orre is essentially Pseudo-Lawless Pokémon Australia, and therefore I can use the whole pseudolawless bit to justify Orre having a wide Pokémon variety and differences in locals with the same plot point: uncontrolled Pokémon emigration. This directly leads to the nearest Pokémon league stepping in to lay down some law and order.

I guess the theme for this whole story would be "dealing with change"? Or maybe rather "how people deal with change". There's no evil team (or at least, no focus on an evil team), no real focus on the Pokémon League because they're still getting set up in Orre, this is primarily character drama between the Main Character and their three rivals. It's also dealing with content that's a bit darker/more heavy than what Pokémon usual fare is. Not full on creepypasta or edgy dark fic fare, but something heavier than "Football Hooligans Applaud for Marnie Too Hard and Are Annoying" and yet more grounded than "Hey, Let's Release the Embodiment of Anti-Matter So I can Rewrite Reality" or "What if I glassed my entire country except for the people who join my fire themed rich person playhouse"

Who're the three rivals? Well, we've got:

Tyson Michaels, a macho, energetic young man who focuses on the Fighting Type. He fulfills the "Friendly Rival" archetype, challenging the Main Character to test how dedicated you are to strengthening your team and yourself.

John/Jane Doe (if this were a fan game/actual Pokémon game their gender would change to be the opposite of the player's), someone with a rather smug attitude and immense skill at Pokémon battling and training. They have a large roster of Pokémon. (Again, if this were a fan game, J-D's Pokémon would usually be of a higher level than expected for this point in the game, and also their roster would depend on what Pokémon are in the area preceding their fight and what you've used against them beforehand, representing them "predicting" you.) They represent the "Mean Rival" archetype.

And finally, Ashley Salems, a morose young woman who seems... out of sorts, or on a different wavelength. She's out of tune with the social norms of the Pokémon world. She focuses on the Ghost and Dark types (they're seemingly drawn to her; by "end game" her roster would be a pretty even split of Ghost and Dark, with whatever other types the Pokémon would happen to have), and represents a sort of in-between between the "Friendly" and "Mean" rival archetypes. She's not snobbish or haughty, nor is she relentlessly cheery; occasionally she'll have bouts of snapping or lashing out if she loses her cool, but otherwise she's friendly if rather asocial.

So the deeper(ish) aspects to this little group of four are kinda spoilery (can an idea that hasn't even been written down yet have spoilers? I dunno), so I'm gonna put them under a "read more".

Okay, so. Two out of four of this cast of three plus the MC are actually reincarnated from the human world. It's like a weird Isekai scenario where the Main Character is a born-and-raised resident of the world and some of the major characters are newcomers. This is meant to tie into the whole "How people deal with change" thing.

Ashley Salems and John/Jane Doe are the reincarnates.

J-D is meant to be a take on the "Pokémon power fantasy fic", where the self-insert/OC-MC is cool and an awesome trainer and they've got it all figured out the instant they start training their first Pokémon. And yeah, J-D's got all of that... but J-D, unlike some of the power fantasy MCs they're pastiche-ing, has trouble seeing the people around them as... actual people. They're not an emotionless monster unable to connect with their fellow man and Pokémon, but they've got this aura of condescension underneath their confidence, like they believe, subconsciously or otherwise, that they're the only one who's actions really matter or that they know what to do and everybody just needs to get behind them and it'll all work out. They look like they've got it all, but the one thing they've got trouble getting is social connections and anchors, something that starts to really stress them out as the story goes on.

Ashley, meanwhile, is struggling to adjust. Even after growing up to teenager-dom, she still struggles to adapt to the Pokémon world's social mores and hidden rules (and eventually she just sort of... stopped trying to adapt), and she's become something of an outsider because of that. (Some jackass being a snobbish dick? Just punch him in the face! Why are you all looking at me like that, he deserved it! No, I will not engage in a Pokémon battle with you, get over yourself!) On a deeper level, she's also kind of upset (and dealing with some self-loathing) because... where is her family? Why was she the only one to get isekaied into the comparative paradise that is the Pokémon world? What the actual f***, Arceus?? She starts out already something of a mess and she only gets worse over time until it all finally boils over near the end.

In regards to how they tie into the central "theme" of the idea, J-D is meant to represent someone who takes "going with the flow" to something of an unhealthy degree. They adapted to their change in circumstance, certainly, but can it really be said they did so successfully, or in a healthy way?

Ashley, on the other hand, represents somebody who can't/couldn't/wouldn't adjust. Not necessarily from lack of trying, but at some point, Ashley threw up her hands and said "f*** it, I can't deal with this anymore" and tried to retreat as far back into her comfort zone as she possibly could, content to keep to her own little bubble even as she slips more and more without anchors to grab onto.

Honestly I'm also considering having Tyson also be a reincarnate, but contrasting J-D and Ashley by someone who successfully "went native". Like, you would not be able to tell this gym bro living his best life was originally a slightly-tubby nobody from a throughly middle-class American family unless he told you. If he could do it, surely the others could as well?

What do you guys think? Sometimes I worry whenever I think of darker-than-Game-Canon Pokémon ideas because I feel like people are going to take one look at a major character being sad or mopey and then writing the whole thing off as being edgy cringe, but hopefully this whole thing doesn't come across as being too pointy-pokey-stabby if you catch my drift.

Give me an Ash and Pikachu roleswap where Ash is an enthusiastic and stubborn Riolu determined to become an "Aura Master" by getting a Trainer and battling strong Pokemon while Pickett "Pikachu" Ketchum is an extremely snarky 10-year-old from Pallet Town who emphatically does NOT want to go on a Pokemon Journey.

This results in a combination of the world's snarkiest trainer having to deal with the most Shenanigan-Prone Pokemon in history, since Ash is still the Chosen One for a bajillion different prophecies and Pikachu as Ash's trainer is basically appointed the role of babysitter.

I have many fanfiction ideas, all Pokémon. I shall begin to try and share them. First up, a Hardenshipping one or just Archie centric. I call it ‘Sea glass shards’

Archie being partially possessed from the Blue orb having been shattered just before his body absorbed the shards. He’s still able to mostly control his actions but he hears Kyogre’s will. His body is warped and of course Archie is horrified. They can’t remove the shards, as three are in vital locations, one in his brain, one in his heart and one in his spinal cord so…

Maxie and the Aqua admins are Archie’s only support. Due to the fact that Maxie had temporarily fused with the red orb and having a little of Groudon’s energy is the only one able to calm Archie down on bad days. Matt doesn’t try anymore after he got mauled by a particularly pissed off Archie.

Lotta angst lotta fluff. Archie’s a cuddle bug and Maxie happily obliges.

When Colgate first learnt about your headache problem, he honestly felt bad. He thought at first it was his fault, maybe the lights in his dorm were too bright, maybe he was talking too loudly, maybe he woke you up too early, maybe he went a bit too harsh on the battle style.

But after you tell him the truth and it was just a natural thing for you, he begins to find it easier to help you cope more. Even if you already have ways to cope or even are able to completely ignore them. Man is STILL gonna find a way to put you at ease.

He’ll turn to Carmine and Lacey for help. To everyone's shock.

Using their advice, and things you have told him, Drayton starts to subtly alter some things - just to hopefully make it easier on your head. 

Dimming his lights in his room, making sure he doesn’t wake you up and that you rest well, making sure you drink and eat, being more careful with his battles whenever you watch and a lot of other small things you barely would notice.

He has caught you on many occasions whenever you do the head rush wobble, he is right there. If you are falling, he is going down with you.

Is he doing it to keep you safe? Yes. Is he doing it as an excuse to trap you in his arms? ABSOLUTELY

Unfortunately something he can’t stop is the “Tera Migraine” As he started calling it. First time he terastilized in your first battle, he saw the look of pain and discomfort on your face and the way your hand held your forehead. Back then he thought maybe you didn’t like the bright tera lights. NOW he understands you were in pain and your entire head was throbbing from the flashing lights.

He has bought you black out shades in EVERY DAMN COLOUR AVAILABLE. If you are going to watch a league, one of his battles or want to battle against him, You have those shades on. Which they do help numb the impact, doesn’t take it away but it certainly isn’t as bad.

It goes from a “Who put a raging bull in my head and why are my eyes burning out my skull!?” to “I wanna nap in a pitch black room with a Furret, leave me alone.”

And don’t worry, if you end up in a random tera battle… we all know that one. Damn. Tauros… Drayton has a pair, or three on hand

Wanted to experiment with a watercolor brush. Took some screenshots of Steven Universe’s Sworn to the Sword and recreated them with Dawn and Cyllene, I think it fits them pretty damn well. Bonus Dawn with Ingo doing fighting poses.

gwen and merlin have the same taste in men (merlin jokes about their abysmal taste and gwen shoots back that she used to have a crush on him and he’s just like “yeah. exactly. horrible taste”). they both liked lancelot but merlin got him first (they definitely slept together. at least once. tell me i’m wrong.) and gwen was happy for them but she also liked him but was mainly happy. then they broke it off and lancelot left and gwen was like “damn, i’m sorry…anyways how was he in bed?” and merlin goes from :( to >:) and tells her everything.

they both like arthur but arthur courts gwen first. merlin is happy for them but he also loves liked him but he’s mainly happy. then they don’t work out and merlin is APPALLED. gwen is just like “i really love lancelot and arthur really loves you so this works out” and then goes and makes out with lancelot. merlin doesn’t even get the chance to ask how arthur is in bed :( but then arthur comes to him and confesses and merlin is able to know first hand what he’s like in the sack sooo a win is a win

CATER DIAMOND'S POKEMON TEAM

Starter Pokemon:

Pikachu (Electric) to Raichu(Electric)

I think the two Pokemon Yellow starters would be best for Cater.  They're both cute until full evolution. 

I chose Pikachu for Cater because it’s electric and perfect for social media posts. He can dress up the pikachu while being great in gym battles too.

2. Rotom (Ghost, Electric)

Cater is an easygoing fun person and I can imagine Rotom saw him as interesting and fun to be with enough to follow him around.

3. Floatzel (Water)

I just think Floatzel is a cool pokemon for Cater to have. It can be any cool looking pokemon in general.

4. Rockruff into Lycanroc (Midday Form) 

A rockruff or any cute small dog pokemon is Cater’s childhood pokemon growing up. He needs that emotional support of a pet dog.

A Lycanroc is a cool dog pokemon and fits Cater’s style in my opinion. I chose the Midday Form because compared to the other forms, this type of Lycanroc can be both playful, cool and serious at certain times. The other forms might be too serious for his style.

5. Chewtle to Drednaw (Water, Ground)

Chewtle is goofy looking but cute and Cater has it because he finds Chewtle chewing a lot adorable.  Just like Lycanroc, Dednaw will be one of his intimidating pokemons in gym battles. 

Cater will snuggle Drednaw and still find him cute as a chewtle even though he's not anymore.

Oddish(Grass, Poison) to Bellossom (Grass)

Cater’s Bellossom is the dancing type pokemon and he will record every dance moves and show it in the internet.

Conclusion:

Cater’s pokemons should mostly be cute for magicam purposes but he would be the type to have cute pre-evolution pokemons like Chewtle and Rockruff.

Cater's Pokemons if he was the trick king:

Cater's pokemons is pretty much the same as the first one but Lyncaroc and Oddish will have a different way of evolution. Cater will have Lyncaroc's Midnight form and a Vileplume.

Vileplume (Grass,Poison)

I just think Vileplume being a poison type adds to Trick King Cater's style. Vileplume is still cute regardless.

Yamask (Ghost)

According to the pokedex, Yamask holds a mask to remember its old face and I believed that Cater wears a mask to conceal his true feelings. They might have different reasons of holding a mask but it's about identity and having a mask in general is what bonded them.

Also, because Cater having a Yamask boost the possible of being edgy/j
