Wellington’s women
Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington enjoyed the company of women, except his wife, who he detested. His marriage to Catherine ‘Kitty’ Pakenham was commonly known to be loveless; he infamously remarked to his brother before their wedding, “She has grown ugly, by Jove”. Not an excellent start.
As perhaps the most famous and sexy man in Europe, (superseded only by the man whose wars granted him his celebrity) the Duke enjoyed no shortage of admirers. (Read: women threw themselves at him; redcoat fever was real). The attraction was mutual: according to Sharon Selin, “Wellington was very much at ease with women and enjoyed their company, especially if they were good-looking and intelligent”
I have endeavoured to record this list (with links to resources) of few of the women who graced good old nosey’s life for my research and writing.
Mrs Harriet Arbuthnot (close friend and Tory hostess, plus a political ally)
Tumblr media
A powerful political woman
More
Lady Charlotte Greville (this one was almost certainly an affair - her husband even wrote telling her she was too obvious 😳)
Tumblr media
More
Giuseppina Grassini (the opera singer he was frequently seen with in Paris in 1814, who also had an affair with his greatest enemy, Napoleon. Boss bitch for sure)
Tumblr media
More
Marianne Patterson (this one was going well until she actually ended up marrying his brother 😬)
Tumblr media
More
Angela Burdett-Coutts (rich heiress and philanthropist, who proposed to him (power move) when she was 33 and he was 77. And yes, she was from that Coutts family)

All the arguments online about Vivian's trans identity used old japanese version as a reference point, so I wanted to see what japanese community has to say about it, and was suprised to see that it's in fact the game's original text that was rewritten.
Original japanese text:
" "Three Shadow Sisters"? Where did you get that!? You're not even a girl!"
"I'm sorry, sister..."
Rewritten japanese text:
"It's not "Three Shadow Sisters", its "Three Shadows Crew"! I'm always telling you that, damnit!"
"I'm sorry... it's just, in my heart I'm your sister as well..."
And checking the currect remake translation i t is very much exactly the same text, it makes it less as direct hatred for her identity and more like dismissal of her as a part of the family. Compare to Gamecube english version, where she is instead mocked for her looks, but not gender identity. This is so interesting to me, because in modern political scene the most annoying opinion is how "localizers are erasing culture and trying to push their own narative", when in this same game the older english translation erased character's whole identity, opting to instead make it less obvious and in a way going againts the original intent. And seeing that the modern remake is even more progressive even without english intervention makes me so happy, although I do admit it's not AS clear about it as original text. It's not bad of course, later on she directly says that "Even if my body is male, my heart is of a pretty girl." I don't know if you can be any more clear about it than that.
If anything, japanese people are at the worst neutral, and at the best are just as excited that a character that they love gets proper recognition from game's text.
What 90% of comments were more focused on is when naked invisible Peach walks on the ground and you can hear her bare feet slapping sounds, they have different priorities.

Calling people fake fans for finding bands through tiktok is the stupidest thing ever, so what someone found mcr because teenagers was a trending song on tiktok? Are they just magically not mcr fans because they found it on a video of a parent showing something dumb their kid did despite the fact that they genuinely enjoy mcr? Is someone a fake ptv fan because they heard king for a day on a makeup tiktok despite their 1k ptv plays? Should we not be glad that a thing we as a fandom cherish and love is finding it's way to more people who will love it just as much? Is that not how fandom grows? Why does the way a person found a band suddenly change how much of a fan they are? How is finding Green Day through a tiktok different than finding it through your older sibling playing it on blast through the walls? Community is supposed to grow, that's the point. Fostering a healthy community means allowing it to grow. Something suddenly being popular doesn't make it bad all of a sudden, there's a reason it's popular. I found Green Day through the third Percy Jackson book when I was 13, does that automatically make me a fake fan because I found out about them from a punk kid telling a goat boy his music taste sucks in the middle of a military school dance that they broke into? If someone truly enjoys something why does how they found it change how real of a fan they are? To quote Vic Fuentes, if you love it you're a fan of it equally to everyone. Do we as fandoms not want our communities to live on with new generations for years after the band has ended or died? Because gatekeeping the way people find music will inevitably end in our downfall, people are gonna leave the fandom, stop listening to the music and the communities that we worked so hard to grow will die because we didn't want to accept new people and the new way of finding music. Who's gonna keep the Green Day or mcr or ptv or fall out boy fandoms alive when we're gone if we keep pushing people out of it? It's unfair to us and the fans we're not accepting. Someone shouldn't have to be embarrassed or ashamed of the way they found something they love.

My Take On Evil Captain Marvel / Shazam / Shazamily
In an AU where all the heroes are villains, and all the villains are heroes, I like to think Captain Marvel is like the Poison Ivy but for the Magical Community.
So we all know Captain Marvel is the Champion of Magic, and as such he has duties, be it a hero or a villain. Now picture this:
Homeless Billy Batson, fresh out of being struck by a Magic Lighting, gets taken in by the magical community (be it the fae, a witches coven, magical creatures, or smt). He develops a love for the mystic realm and is thus more active as Champion. They have shown more love and kindness than any human ever has, and eventually sees himself as a magical being / well of magic more than he sees himself as human.
But then, tragedy, and he sees people hunting down members of his beloved community for the sole reason that they have magic. They see creatures under HIS domaine being captured and sold in the black market. He sees butchered remains and fur of his friends being hung as trophies.
So seeing as that there are NO magical protection laws, and knows deep down that Adults Cannot Be Trusted (if his time on the streets taught him anything, it’s that), he takes matters into his own hands.
He hunts the hunters for fun. He rips apart ANYONE who DARES hurt those under his protection. He destroys countries who normalises the destruction of the mystic. He sends plagues and lighting. Those so called ‘Heroes’ who try to stop him aren’t any better, for they stop him from doing his Duty as The Champion.
He gets noticed by a group of individuals who wish to recruit him (evil JL). He joins, not because he actually cares about their goals, but they promised to leave anything magic alone, and even help him take down his adversaries. Morality is something he has long given up on.
The Gods don’t care either. From their point of view, humanity has long forsaken them, and makes a point to destroy what they have created. Hecate is especially supportive, she created most of the magical creatures, of course she has a fondness for them.
Mary, Freddy, Tawny (who in this au might be a creature that Captain saved) and the rest of the Shazamily join in, as they too much prefer magic over humans. Maybe in this au, they were put into more abusive environments.
Fawcette becomes the center of the magical world, and is known as the most protected place if you are of the mystic.
It’s a shame that cursed Black Adam did not join them, his time trapped made him soft, and developed a fondness for people (it’s what his son would have wanted). And really, he ought to get over Kahndaq. Sure, they destroyed the country, but they had it coming! They were trapping a bunch of Gods!
Anyways, this is just me rambling. I might make a part 2 if the inspiration comes to me.

When others are the best version of themselves, they remind you that you are not.
Certain people, instead of reflecting and thinking how they can be the best version of themselves too, focus all their attention on finding evil that doesn't exist.
Nobody can be that good, everyone looks after themselves and no one else, right? they think, very seriously, without realizing how ridiculous it sounds.
That's why so many people hate the Jedi. Because the Jedi remind them that they can be better, they just won't, unless they put in work they are not willing to do.
Source: me and my limited knowledge of psychology and human stupidity.
No, I will not accept any criticism on this.

Literally every time I think the webtoon writers cannot get any better they PULL THROUGH WITH SOMETHING GREAT!!!
Everyone knows the two eras of Harley but her transition and struggle to be not who she was with joker isn’t often depicted. And I personally do love her and Bruce being besties so much but her laugh being a trigger for him is so real. She was with joker for a long time and that’s literally Bruce’s biggest source of trauma.
