SCARED!!!! bc so far we got Lilia and Sebek in the beginning book 7.... so at the end.... so we're missing story Silver... and Malleus is the one with less cards, so they might add one for him... but... the tears... ego.... YES I am ALSO like...90-95% convinced that we're going to be getting a story card for Silver once we wrap around back to diasomnia. 👀 especially because the way things are going, Silver will be the only character whose dream we haven't seen -- yet???? -- and that just. y'know. makes me wonder!

although I do think it would be VERY funny if he got a story card and the groovy was just "regular Silver except with one beautiful single crystal tear". this is actually a lot coming from him.

kipperlilly apparently has a problem with the bad kids getting preferential treatment at school, but the ratgrinders have only ever fought rats and spiders, which means their party somehow made it to junior year without having to do the mandatory sophomore year quest that’s worth 60% of their grade.

like the bad kids had to go on an incredibly dangerous, almost impossible quest where nearly every member of the party was killed at some point and which required them to give away all of their money, leaving multiple members in financial trouble, just to be able to pass sophomore year. meanwhile, the ratgrinders either didn’t have to go on a quest or it was so incredibly easy that they didn’t have to fight a single monster to accomplish it.

so which party is getting special treatment again???

Maybe this is a dumb question but can dunmeshi elves gain weight? Mithrun is tiny as an elf but very muscular as a normal human. I don’t recall any other elves who are very muscled or chubby

I imagine Kui wanted to follow the trope of how elves tend to be in most media, the small and lean beauty standard (they also don't get blemishes in their skin for example). It's implied that the dungeon meshi race differentiation happened with influence from wishes the demon granted, so the issue for elves to gain much muscle or fat might be due to that?

They also don't seem to have very tasty or calory dense foods in their culture since apparently even their sweets aren't that sweet (fruitcake), and Marcille's mom thinks northern continent tallmen food is tastier.

So it can be all from genetics to lifestyle to demonic magic, but still it's all just excuses to follow the trope

I wouldn't take any of that into consideration when making ocs btw, be free, plus dungeon meshi in general doesn't have much extreme size differences between the actual characters in the story (Unless it's a trait for the race itself like orcs) so they might exist.

I think human Mithrun is a funny exaggeration of his actual traits and also looking so small as an elf might be part of how his own body is, Since if you compare him to Pattadol and Lycion they look bigger than him in elf form but their human forms in the daydream hour aren't super buff looking, I wouldn't say changeling transformations are objective.

okay as someone with chronic fatigue mitrum genuinely means the world to me. He’s exhausted and has no desire to do anything, he needs so much help to simply exist but hes around despite it!! And the people around him dedicate so much time and effort to him, they take care of him and tend to him and that means the WORLD to me. That there are people out there who care and love people like me, even at my most tired, even when i can’t do what i want to do. They are there regardless and they want me to live a happy life and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. I’m very thankful to mithrun for showing that disabled people live and that people do love us, that there is hope.

yes, my favorite line in all of TAZ does continue to be Barry's "I would feel guilty living in a world that I... poisoned." even on top of the fact that he's talking to Taako. even that it's pre-Glamour Springs. it's the way Barry spends his ten years alone in a downward spiral over the "poison" on his hands, completely in parallel to how Taako does. maybe not even realizing they're the same. you know voidfished Taako certainly doesn't realize.

relatedly, I think a lot about how Barry is the most obviously genre-dissonant character in early Balance. how obviously he doesn't belong. how everyone has their eccentricities, but with Barry there's always the — at the time — comedy, of reactions like "get out of here, you can't have a fantasy character who revolves around blue jeans!" but the thing is, Barry isn't any more alien to that world than Magnus or Merle or Taako is. he's just the one who allowed himself the least opportunities to know or interact with that world.

and I think he would've lagged behind THB in that regard even if the Voidfishing hadn't happened. not only does he hold even more guilt than them for half-inventing the Relic plan, he was charged by the judges with the "sin" of isolating himself on his home plane — yearning for connection with the world, but depriving himself of it. when Barry is crushed with more guilt than he's ever felt before in his life, what does he do? fall back into old habits.
