- It was her main obstacle in her portal home, the biggest lesson she had to learn about becoming mortal

- So when she finds out sanji cooks for them, all the time, she’s smitten

- Luffy notices, and doesn’t know how to feel about it

“Sanji,” you croon, resting your chin in your hand as you lay across the counter from your chair. You swish your tails back and forth. “What’s for dinner?”

Sanji grins, and twirls around to hand you a plate of black and white cookies. You take a bite, and revel in the delicious crisp. “Mmm,” you sigh through your nose.

“After snacks,” Sanji says, turning back to stir rice on the stove, “We’re having fried rice.”

“Shrimp this time?” You ask, crunching on your third cookie.

“If you insist, mon cherie,” he croons back at you. He waltzes over to the freezer, and pulls out a packet of shrimp. Light blue and translucent, you lick your lips. You’d eat them raw, if you could.

Sanji must have seen your hunger-lust, and chuckled. “You can’t eat them raw, Kit. They’ll make you sick.”

“Hmph,” you slump back into your hand. You take a bite of your fourth cookie. “I’d eat raw stuff all the time, if you’d let me.”

“Wild beast,” he says fondly, and you nod.

“I used to eat mice sometimes, and fish. There was a koi pond, and the first time I got hungry I just. Ate one. The bones were sharp,” you wrinkle your nose at the memory. “It wasn’t until I figured out fire that I started grilling them. I was glad to have fish so close to me. Stealing eggs got tiring.”

Sanji goes quiet.

“I’m sorry,” he murmurs, turned back to the stove. “You must have been hungry.”

“Mm,” you agree, “I was.” You crunch on a sixth cookie. “But I’m not hungry anymore. I’m never hungry, with you.”

Sanji looks over his shoulder, an unreadable expression on his face. His suit is angular and fitted, the line of his shoulders broad and sure. You liked to see his strength. You’ve been in a couple fights now, and he always awed you with his style. Although, you must admit, the kicks did look kind of funny.

“What’s up?” You ask, a tad bit uncomfortable at your cook’s intense expression. His eyes were dark, blue as deep water, and his mouth was set in a hard line.

“With me,” he says, hands clenched into fists, “You’ll never go hungry again.”

You pause.

The crumbs of the sixth cookie litter the counter, and you wipe your chin. “I know,” you say, “Thank you.”

Your voice had gone quiet, mirroring his sudden mood change. He nods, jaw set, and strides around the counter until he’s next to you. He takes your face in both hands, and kisses the tip of your nose. You flush, immediately. “S-Sanji!” You stutter, embarrassed.

He flushes, too, and steps back a little. His fingertips leave your face, and you reach out to keep them there. “Don’t stop,” you say, pulling him closer. His arms wind around your waist, and he kisses your nose again.

“Here,” you say, tilting your chin up to face him. He’s so much taller than you. “Kiss me here,” you whisper, and softly let your lips brush his.

He moans, melting into your frame. He’s warm, and steady. You feel the muscles of his arms through his shirt.

“Mon cherie,” he whispers against your lips. You let your tongue slip past his soft, rose petal lips. He groans, again. You shift, pulling him tighter against you. You like kissing him.

“Kit?”

You still, turning to look at the door. Luffy had just spoken, standing in the kitchen entryway. He had an unreadable expression on his face.

“Captain!” Sanji splutters, straightening up. You whine at the loss of his touch. Luffy’s face is dark.

“I thought you were mine, Kit.” He clenches his hands into fists.

“I am,” you say, standing up. Your heart flutters in your chest. How would you get him to understand? This, this need inside of you. The pulsing of not one, but two. Men.

“But I’m his, too.” You stalk toward your boyfriend-captain, like you were hunting rabbits. He is on edge, and angry. You take his face in both hands, and kiss him too. How could you make him feel the truth?

“I love you,” you say, desperation in your eyes, “But I love him, too.”

You don’t think Luffy liked that. He liked being captain, he liked being king. He liked being above all others; he liked being free.

Well, you liked freedom, too.

“He feeds me,” you try to say, “Please understand me,” you whisper. Luffy isn’t looking at you. “I’m a spirit,” you say, “I’m a fuckup. I’m too much and too hyper and too feral for you. I know. I know,” you whisper, bitter. “But the love I have for you is not diminished by my love for him. Or for anyone. Foxes mate for life,” you remind him, “No one could replace you.”

Luffy seems to like that. He straightens, meets your gaze. His eyes are cloudy, tears pricking at the stormy grey. You brush his hair out of his face. “Promise?” He says, voice husky and thick. You nod.

“I promise. And you can kill me if I break it.”

He starts, taken aback. “I-I don’t wanna do that! Kit,” he grabs your hands, “I won’t ever do that.”

“Good,” you say, and inch back toward Sanji. “Do you believe me?”

He studies you, studies your frame. You’re standing, hunched forward a bit. He could see that you were scared. He’d seen you like that, before. When farmers took up pitchforks.

He didn’t like scaring you.

“I—,” he starts, taking a step toward you. “I believe you, Kit. But—,” he grimaces, clenching his hands. “But I don’t want you in his bed. Only mine. Understand?”

You nod, vigorously. “I can do that.”

Luffy relaxes, straightens up a bit. “Good. You can kiss, but no more than that. Not unless I say so,” he sears you with a grin. Wicked. You flick an ear in interest.

“Yes, sir,” you reply. Your voice came out breathier than you meant it to. You blush.

“Luffy,” Sanji says, the first word he’s spoken since his captain walked in. “I’m sorry.”

Luffy levels him with a haughty glare. “I forgive you,” he acknowledges the fault, and sidesteps it with grace. Sanji takes a steady breath.

“I won’t steal her from you,” he assures, stepping back to his stove. Luffy snorts.

“As if you ever could.”

Just For Him

Knowing Danny's family and his time as a hero you would think that Danny would grow up having a similar job, and so did he honestly!

That was until he put on a pair of skates and stepped onto the ice.

Maybe it had something to do with his ice core that made his movements on the ice feel more natural than any other kind of ground under his feet.

Once he was on the ice he felt like a completely different person, confident in every single step, in the way he would spin and jump- using a bit of his ghostliness to gain more air time in his jumps.

The entire sensation on that ice was freeing,

invigorating,

peaceful.

It was just him and the ice under his blades.

It felt like everything in his life was for someone else, his creations his protections all of it that he would gladly give to those who need it and to his loved ones.

But when was the last time he had anything that was just for him.

For him to enjoy

For him to find unrestrained happiness from

Just for him

So no, while it was surprising to everyone around him including himself at the direction his life turned to he couldn't be happier.

He now traveled a lot for his competitions & own fun, with a very happy Ellie tagging along to support him and enjoy what the world had to offer.

ok so i had this thought after reading other people's thoughts on the ship. but the amount of jiggy-bashing in postcanon xicheng fics makes absolutely no sense, just on a fundamental internal-consistency level?

arguably THE central thesis of postcanon xicheng is that lan xichen and jiang cheng have been through similar experiences: both trusted and were betrayed by a brother-figure, who was then persecuted and killed by the cultivation world, and who is now considered an evil monster by the cultivation world. both characters are credited with and praised for killing this brother figure by the general public, even though their actual feelings on the brother figure are incredibly complex.

regardless of whether you think this thesis is true or not, if you take this thesis to its logical conclusion, then the jiggy-bashing in postcanon xicheng fics makes no sense. jiang cheng rolls up and goes "rip dude your ex sucked shit" and that makes lan xichen happy? that helps lan xichen heal? if lan xichen really is where jiang cheng was after the first siege of the burial mounds 13 years ago, then no way. absolutely not.

after all, if someone had rolled up to jiang cheng during the 13-year timeskip and went "rip dude your ex sucked shit," that would not have made jiang cheng happy in the long run. that would not have helped him heal. jiang cheng was the one actively telling himself that his ex-whatever sucked shit, and it made him miserable. the entire cultivation world was telling jiang cheng that his ex-whatever sucked shit, and it made him miserable! so, if you want the central xicheng thesis of "their experiences parallel each other" to be true, the same reasoning has to also apply here to lan xichen - literally everyone else and their mom is already bashing jiggy, so additional jiggy-bashing is not going to make lan xichen happy in the long run.

in my opinion, you can absolutely make postcanon xicheng work. imo there is absolutely stuff to work with, even before getting into all the hilarious BIL drama. but a postcanon xicheng that heavily features jiggy bashing simply does not make sense.

I have a few things but it's likely mostly headcanons that I consider somewhat disconnected from my analysis.

Curly's parents had him old, only child, died shortly after he graduated and got the pony express position. It was the last big thing they saw him do which is a reason he stayed for so long.

Doesn't admit how much their death affected him

Jimmy has a largish family. One of the cases of too many kids to keep tract of, parent never really noticed any of them nor their behaviors

Anya lived in a lot of houses growing up, regular supportive family that just struggled to support themselves.

Became a nurse largely to avoid their financial struggles but mostly because she felt too many people weren't being cared for and advocated for in the world properly

Swansea likes high top sneakers most. Likes how snug they fit and how they shield his ankles at work

Curly has a bit of a caffeine problem since he can’t sleep. Can occasionally be found wandering the ship at “night” when he had some too late or just couldn’t sleep.

Daisuke knows a little about a lot of things. Starts conversations with “did you know” a lot but please don’t ask him deeper questions

Curly has known Jimmy longer but has worked with Anya and Swansea longer, met them during his middle years, met Jimmy shortly before college.

Swansea rents a house, Daisuke’s family lives in a big nice apartment, Curly has a condo, Anya live in a small one bedroom apartment and Jimmy has a studio.

Curly's home is very disconcerting. It's too normal to a like uncanny degree.

Anya is ambidextrous but prefers her left.

Anya and Curly are both not native English speakers so occasionally they forget words and bond over the mutual mocking they get from the rest of the crew. Daisuke knows some Japanese but is still learning, never picked it up as a kid

Only Swansea and Daisuke know how to drive, Earth in my mind is very post capitalist so only older people and like the extremely wealthy can afford cars.

It's also like walkable just due to how many businesses are in your face. Probably strict living vs shopping districts

I have more but the way that I headcanon about them is like too long.

Charles' eyes widened and he bounced to his feet. “Shit, is he alright?” The characteristic mother henning over Edwin wasn't weird. What was weird was the hand he held down, as if to help Thomas up off of the floor. Thomas eyed it, wary, and gracefully ascended on his own. “He's fine,” he said, speaking it softly but firmly into existence. “He's got tricks up his sleeve, a map and your little psychic friend, I'm sure he's sitting pretty.” Charles blinked. “Our what?” Thomas groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Memory spells, my favourite.” He raised his hands. He clicked his fingers to summon Charles’ attention, then waggled two of them. “Watch the bunny.” Charles furrowed his brows, but he didn't even fight him – just looked at his fingers with confused obedience. When Thomas let a seeking orb of purple magic flare at his fingertips the light fell on open, attentive eyes. And Thomas was not crazy about what he found in them. “Okay, yep, that is locked in,” Thomas sighed, dismissing the magic with another snap. “No way we're lifting that one without time to kill and preferably a truckload of reagents. Looks like it's gonna have to wait.” Charles blinked, dazed and squinting, like he'd caught himself staring at the sun. “Woah. You a wizard or something?” Thomas smiled wryly. “Or something.” “And you're… helping us solve this case? Whatever it is?” “That's pretty much the situation in a nutshell.” “Mate…” Charles… smiled at him. “That is brills!”

So are the Big Bads of Junior Year going to be the Rat Grinders? AKA kids who leveled up 'the normal way' by doing a bunch of quests, grinding, taking on any enemy to get more powerful, but because of the 'luck' and 'opportunities' given to other kids (ie the Bad Kids) aren't being lauded or appreciated like they expected so they're taking it out on the Bad Kids, have taken advantage of it the summer they were gone, and are doing what they can to punish them for 'being rewarded despite failing at what's expected of them, despite actually saving the world'.

I wonder if all the members of Rat Grinders have classes that reflect those of the Bad Kids? We already know they have a rogue and a bard...

One thing I'm likely to retcon in my headcanons regarding my earthspark kobd headcanons is Breakdowns knowledge about Knockouts history.

Before I had the idea that Knockout kept his history on cybertron as a back alley surgeon who worked on gladiators because he was insecure about what Breakdown would think.

However I've since decided that its FAR more interesting if that particular bit of drama was between Breakdown and Bumblebee. Especially with my ideas regarding Bumblebees initial view of Breakdown and Knockouts relationship. If Bumblebee finds out, likely from Megatron, about Knockouts true history and that he kept it a secret from most of the decepticons hed likely assume that he kept it from breakdown too.

Of course, it turns out Knockout absolutely told breakdown about his actually history before/during their ritus (while absolutely wondering if hed leave him for it) but the fun bit is that Bumblebee wouldn't know that.

So, after finding out about their relationshp and then subsequently coming to find out about the sorta things Knockout got up to on Cybertron, he'd naturally seek out Breakdown to tell him about how Knockout has been lying about who he was this whole time and their conjunxing may have been under false pretenses.

Now to further paint the picture, Breakdown really wants Bumblebee to accept his relationship with Knockout. He was his best friend before the war, practically a brother, so of course he wants him to accept that Knockout truly loves him. So imagine how he feels when he finds out that Bumblebee went behind his back to (presumably) dig up what he clearly considers dirt on knockout and present it to him as "proof" that knockout isnt being honest with him and essentially discredit their entire relationship.

Ive seenyou mention wuxia a few times now and i wonder what that is. Would you mind explaining it to me?

not the most qualified person to explain this as i'm not, in fact, from china; but i've read a couple of wuxia so here goes:

wuxia is a genre of fiction from china specifically, about martial artists in ancient china. i don't think a specific time period is like required? obviously some dynasties are more popular but idk how it goes in that front. it just has to be Not Today and probably Too Long Ago. like pre industral revolution i think. again idk if that's a requirement, but most i've seen are from around the same relative murky pre-electricity era.

xianxia is a subgenre of wuxia that's specifically more fantasy-like, and it's not just martial arts, but also spiritual powers and cultivation (which i have no fucking clue how to explain without two hours and three tangents other than chinese magic system. if you've ever heard of chi/qi as an energy, it appears there). so like- genshin is by all accounts a xianxia, it just doesn't use the more common specific xianxia terms like cultivation. some of those are very weird to translate and probably not common for the average non-wuxia reader, so it makes sense why they're going for alternatives.

chongyun and xingqiu and xianyun are very much straight out of a xianxia. xianyun's entire story quest was the closest genshin has gotten to a straight xianxia plot so far. i highly reccomend ashikai's video on unnecessary visions if you want more info on why genshin is a xianxia hahah

cyanide narwhal has some talk of some stuff from xianxia, but that's mostly because well- fucking liyue, that's how it works there. the whole light energy striking down someone who's getting powerful and giving them godhood if they survive the strike is, while not exactly like that, something that happens in some xianxia as well. like the way adepti work in general is just very xianxia. ashikai does a much better job explaining it than i do tbh but yeah

TL;DR: wuxia is chinese martial arts fiction in ancient china, and xianxia is a wuxia subgenre with more magic elements. also genshin is a xianxia
