I don't think it's erasing Chris' autonomy to expect the show to address both his understandable anger with Eddie and the possibility that his grandparents are exploiting that anger for their own ends. Their desire to keep Chris in El Paso, with or without Eddie, has been a source of conflict from the very beginning. It would honestly be a completely bananas narrative choice to ignore that entirely.

Not for nothing, Helena's behaviour towards Eddie during the call was a big flashing light that something is not right. In particular, her offhand comment about putting a pool in for Christopher, along with Eddie's reaction to it, tells us two super important things:

She intends Chris to stay with her for the long term, maybe permanently, to the point of basing major financial commitments and lifestyle decisions on it

She has not discussed this intention with Eddie and she doesn't feel like she needs his input

It's SHADY. The absolute best faith interpretation is that she was being thoughtless to the point of cruelty for bringing it up in such a casual way, focused so much on her joy at having Chris with her that she's oblivious to Eddie's feelings. I mean, compare Chimney's much less egregious comment, "I've got two kids at home." He immediately realises how this might be hurtful to Hen, and corrects himself to emphasise that it's only temporary and Mara will be back with Hen soon. Helena could have added that a pool would be a great reason for them to come and visit, once Christopher is back home with Eddie, but she didn't and I think we are meant to understand that this is not how she's thinking of it.

At this you got a subtle click of her tongue, her eyes raking over you. Her warm breath across your ear as she moved in a little closer.

Even with the tips of her claws close enough to rip through your skin at any second, you chuckled. And yes, the Lady had told you to dress for the occasion - albeit a Halloween masquerade ball - but you had had other things in mind, with every piece of your attire chosen specifically for the evening ahead.

The metal collar she gifted you.. her favorite corset.. a teal silk scarf you wore only once for a painting - even the dress pants you wore - everything on your body was purchased by her... at one point or another. You had even made sure to wear your hair exactly how she liked it. And when her moment of surprise finally passed and a single eyebrow raised, the Countess simply asked you.

"And just what are we supposed to be, pet?"

You smirked, of course, giving her a single word.

And now she had you exactly where she wanted you, pressed against a wall and completely at her mercy.

You could almost feel every inch of you being set ablaze - every part of you yearning for her. For her touch, for her control. Hi! This is another long one. (a week ago or so, I was the one who wrote a longer ask about how Max protects Lando and is aware and conscious how to not add more hate onto lando) While I notice Max protecting Lando’s image and feeling like he is part of “Team Lando Norris,” I also think Max is a way for Lando to still stream without actually streaming, if that makes sense, hahaha

I mean, yes, Lando streamed again last week, but in general, it's pretty obvious that he doesn’t do it as much as he did a few years ago. From what I’ve seen, it was something he used to do voluntarily but, more importantly, happily. Over the last year especially, Lando has really pulled back from using social media. He stopped using Twitter, rarely posts on Instagram, and has generally reduced his online presence. But he still continues to appear in Max’s streams, to be a voice there and play with him “for the world to see.” He could easily just play with Max offline; it’s not like Max wouldn’t if Lando asked. And I think a big part of it is that Lando can still “stream” without actually streaming. Without needing to entertain, without being in the spotlight. He can be there without a camera, mute himself if he wants to, but still be live, play, make jokes, and sometimes interact with chat.  

Sometimes he reacts to something Max reads from chat, or he talks about something he saw there, because he has the chat open. and maxs chat/community that is smaller and more manageable than the one that would exist if Lando went live himself. Sometimes, he’s just in chat. Again, he could easily text Max privately (also, I agree with one of your posts/asks where someone said it’s also a way to show that Max is his, like a possessive thing hahaha), but he doesn’t, because while he has reduced his online presence, Max’s smaller community is safer than all the platforms where he would be recognised on a much larger scale.  

I remember, like I mentioned in that one ask about Max protecting Lando, I watched all of Max’s streams from beginning to end every time Max went live since last summer. I think it was in September when Max was streaming iRacing. Lando wasn’t there from the start, but he joined later. However, after a while, he stopped playing. It was relatively late, and normally, Lando would be gone after stopping, but he stayed on Discord and kept talking to Max. I think there were only about 800 viewers because it was so late, and iRacing usually doesn’t do as well as other games Max plays. Especially when Max starts his stream alone, iRacing isn’t super entertaining for many people, since when Max is concentrating, he stops talking, and he also can’t listen to music, so it’s mostly just quiet so not really entertaining for everyone.

While Max was racing, Lando was either on his phone (which you could hear) or talking to Max about something. Then, since it was late, Max stopped racing (also because he crashed hahaha) and wanted to end the stream. But instead, they just kept talking for a while. I can’t remember exactly what it was about, just something related to iRacing and a video Lando had seen. But they were talking so normally, so casually, while still streaming. It was calm. At some point, they even talked about how comfortable it was to stay in their iRacing seats. I think Max even joked that he wouldn’t be surprised if Lando was too lazy to get up and just slept in his chair. it was almost intim, just them talking like they forgot they are live. 

that was one of the few times in recent Max streams when Lando really stayed online that late. Obviously, he stayed online after that too, and he streamed again, but around August or September was when Lando really reduced his online engagement to a minimum.  

anyway, I got a bit distracted, but I don’t think this is a new take or anything, maybe I’m interpreting it wrong, but it feels like Lando uses Max’s streams as a way to still “stream” and maybe feel “normal” or like things were before all the craziness started.  

At the same time, Max “uses” (maybe not the right word) Lando in a different way, he kind of lives through Lando’s eyes. He experiences the life of an F1 driver vicariously through Lando. Maybe this doesn’t make sense, but sometimes when Max talks about Lando as a driver, he talks like he is also part of Lando’s team. He talks about the ins and outs of being a driver from his own perspective but also from Lando’s.  

For example, when reacting to qualifying Spanish GP 2024, Max was like, “Lando, please give us a purple.” Or when something was about to go wrong, he would say things like, “Don’t understeer there, McLaren,” kind of putting the blame on the car.  

It’s hard to explain exactly what I mean because it’s more about the way I see it, and I don’t think there are perfect examples. But I’ve often noticed Max speaking in a “we” form, not to take away from Lando’s achievements or anything, because he ALWAYS only praises Lando. I don’t want to make it seem like he’s a narcissist or anything; I just think he sees them both as a team. They’re so co-dependent that Max often says “us” and “we” when talking about Lando, even about “Lando the F1 driver,” kind of like how couples do.

He always praises Lando and 100% sees these achievements as Lando’s, but he is so proud and feels so much like part of Lando’s core team that he naturally uses words like “we” and “us” when talking about it.

I hope this makes sense! It’s just something that was on my mind when I saw criticism about Max streaming with Lando, people saying Max “uses” Lando and pressures him into being online even though Lando doesn’t want to be. Which is stupid, because Lando is an adult, he alone decides to come online. There are so many instances where Lando didn’t need to be in chat because he could easily just text Max privately. Max and Lando play offline often, but Lando still decides to pop onto Discord when Max is live.  

These two need each other. Max gives Lando a sense of normalcy, allowing him to feel less like a superstar. And through Lando, Max gets to experience what it’s like to be a driver. I think that could be difficult, but Lando does it in a way that hurts Max or makes him feel like he is less. For Lando, it’s more like, you are part of me, and you are also part of me as a driver.

all of what you said is very beautiful and true!! max participates in lando's success, he doesn't claim it for himself, and lando relies on max and max's stream like it's safe harbor in a storm. the relationship seems to maintain core parts of their identities either way: what lando represents for max in terms of racing, max represents to lando in terms of a normal life. they're like complementary halves, with part of their selves located in the other person, yin and yang style lmao

It makes me sad so many people think shadowpeach interactions are fan service. Their relationship (platonic or romantic) is so important to me and so important to the fabric of the show

Saying something is fan service as a complaint/criticism confuses me more than anything. Like, what defines "fan service"—what fans want to see? I know what I want out of my shows is very different from what others want. Is something still fan service even if it was set up and developed appropriately? I think that's just good writing. I think that's just writers service.

Now, I've not watched all of s5, but based off of the first two episodes shadowpeach's current relationship tracks. They're still downright mean to each other (ilu 5x01 argument), but they're willing to have kinda-sorta civil conversations and their jabs are far less cruel. Macaque, like usual, is so down bad and insane. Wukong kinda implied he trusted Macaque, and then Macaque responded in kind by sacrificing himself. He slept in their fucking beach tree. He's such a loser.

And it's like...at some point their relationship had to develop, you know. It was always going to go this direction and we spent 4 seasons getting here. We love the 3 way monkey foil that connects everything together.

Would you rather have the best armour possible, built to your exact preferences in both function and aesthetics, which will last your whole lifetime and beyond if maintained well but every weapon you wield will be a mass-produced average quality gear at best, or vice versa?

Oh I'd take the armor 100%

Partly because I'm a dramatic fashionista at heart, and partly because honestly, I have sparred with shitty weapons and I have sparred with really nice ones, and like, while there is a difference in how they feel it's relatively manageable either way

But like, when it comes to armor if it feels off even a little it becomes tortuous to me very quickly tbh

For example the gorget I have at home isn't sized right and it just digs right into my collarbone, it's super uncomfortable and I can't wear it for very long because of that

But like, I spar with cheap shitty weapons all the time, that one's no big deal to me lmao

... Though credit where it's due, in terms of average quality mass produced armor I will say the Almain rivet is honestly a design I like a lot tbh
