A bit of an update:

I've been out of fencing for the better part of 5 years now. I never thought I'd fence again. But as chance would have it (or fate, according to sabre mother. He prophesied when I was a baby 19-year-old fencer that I would be a coach by the time I was his age. He was 31 at the time. I just turned 31) I am now coaching sabre! [Yes, I also don't believe it... and I've done it for 3 weeks now.]

Because I am coaching I decided I need to make sure I'm a halfway decent fencer. So I went back to my old college club (they accept both students/staff/alumni and community members). Needless to say, it was something else to say, "yeah I'm a club member from 10 years ago." And then have people say, "oh my God! You're that one name on the armory wall!"

So I guess redthefencer is alive once more! Expect content like, "I'm 31 and I'm trying to fence like I'm 19 wtf" and "shit my fencing students say."

I'm glad to be back. And those of you who are still around after all these years, it's fucking great to see you.

What do you think about the fab five polycule

i'll be SO honest i wish i had like. insightful interesting opinions on them but i've always been a Young Justice kid and sort of. breezed past consuming Fab Five Teen Titans content-

but of what i *do* know, from the few comics i've read with these characters is this is one of the best ships for Dick, honestly. it always deeply annoys me when fanon content breezes past the Titans as if they're just some distant teammates and not some of Dick's closest friends, if not a second family. *especially* the Fab Five. for most, if not all of them, it's the first time getting to actually connect with other teen heroes. so there's something fun about how sort of terrible they are at it, at first. they all care about each other a lot. but they're kind of chucked into the deep figuring out how to work with each other and get along with *very* different personalities, so it's fun to see where the conflict comes.

as a ship, i do really love it. the Titans are a family. like we call a lot of teams found families, but for the Fab Five, that shit is the truest. they depend on each other and trust each other. when Dick and Bruce are on outs and Bruce fires him, he goes to the Titans.

i also enjoy how, to an extent, all of them are outsiders of some kind. Donna is alone in a new world she's never experienced, the same as Garth. Roy is still new and awkward to living the rich life with Oliver. Wally doesn't connect to his parents well. and of course, Dick has lost his parents and only has Bruce, who isn't the most emotionally available. of course they're going to cling to each other, as the first people they can really develop connections too. they're very clingy with each other and i think that's both cute and *fun* to explore like, codependency issues with them. how protective they can be of each other, how they default to trusting each other over their mentors, etc. it's all very interesting for a polycule, especially since for most of them, it's their first real relationship. i'm a big fan of "none of us know what dating looks like bc we've had such strange childhoods so we don't understand the Rules very well. we're all just going to date each other bc why would i date only one of you. do teamups count as dates now." vibes with teenage polycules. and the Fab Five just. have that on lock. they each fulfill a different "niche" in the group. Garth is the softer, more emotional one you can go to if you're upset. Donna is the one for planning bright fun trips and making sure you don't wallow. Roy is protective and can pretend to be suave, but he shows affection through gift giving and grand gestures where words fail him. Wally can cheer any of them up with jokes and distractions. and of course Dick is the logical one who makes sure they all keep their heads on and don't drown in the responsibility.

overall i think it's a really cute ship and i do wish i just. knew more about them to be able to write them/read fic of it because i do love their dynamic. and i'm just a firm believer in the Titans being Dick's family, just as important to him as the Batfam. they're a disaster and for that you gotta love them.

Nitpicky pet peeve for published books, I find it extremely grating when a character isn’t doing something they otherwise would and it’s obvious the only reason is the author has decided “X can’t happen yet for the plot”. Because it’s totally fine and reasonable if X can’t happen yet for the plot, but then…come up with a legitimate reason for the character not doing X? Don’t be lazy about it!

(This complaint brought to you by the fact that the protagonist of the book I was listening to was confronted by what he thought was the dead body of the love of his life and went into a blind rage and tried to murder the antagonist who was responsible for her death and he…stopped himself for Reasons that seem to boil down to “she wouldn’t want me to kill someone” except that a) he regularly kills people who have done far less than the antagonist, b) she knows this and is fine with it, c) she would definitely support him avenging her with murder (to be clear she is not actually dead but neither he nor the antagonist know that), and d) this motherfucker (the antagonist) definitely deserves to get murdered. Like…it would have been extremely easy to write it as “he was stopped by the guards in the room” or “the antagonist managed to escape” so the fact that the reason the antagonist is still alive is because the protagonist had a bizarre crisis of conscience resulting in a complete and total personality change is just???????? Please be so fucking serious rn)

i think hermitcraft should have the equivalent of that 'regular guy does the olympics as a reference point for how good the olympians are' where it's just like. person who plays minecraft often enough to know what it is but that's it. they're not bad at the game but they're not about to reinvent the block while they play. around them are feats of divine architecture and world breaking redstone and cinema level plot lines and meanwhile they are living in a lovely one story one room wood house, they just made themselves a diamond chestplate, they are having a lovely day wandering around and complimenting everyone else's builds and politely declining every other hermits' offer to build a base for them

Faces so close to one another, Kenny could no longer resist having Maxine so close, without reaching out to feel her. Pulling her into a kiss, he then moved her onto her back, their hands caressing and holding onto one another. Not wasting any more time, he spread her thighs to rest himself between them. With no protest, she wrapped her legs around his waist, wanting to keep him close. "Max.." He exhaled into her neck, earning a soft huff from the other. Making his way down her body with his tongue, her hands caressed his soft brown hair. Now down by her jeans, he pulled them off fully and tossed them aside, eyelids heavy with lust as he looked up at her. He tugged down her panties, wanting to waste no time in making her feel good. Dragging her closer to him, he bit his lip slightly at the sight of her beneath him. Simply admiring.

Leaning down, he lifted her thighs, gripping them as he spread them to dive down into her warm, wetness. Working his tongue, Maxine gripped onto his hair, as if attempting to push him away from the overwhelming sensation. "..You think you're hilarious." She said, gulping as she caught her breath. Brushing her bangs away from her now slightly sweaty forehead, his smile never wavered.

"Wanna keep going? Can you handle it?" He asked, the slightest bit worried. His hand wandered down to her breast, finger trailing down to where his tongue once was. She gave him a nod, holding onto his arm for comfort, or leverage.

    "I-I can take it." She said, giving him a small reassuring smile. At the feeling of his middle finger pushing into her already leaking cunt, He exhaled softly at the warmth, giving Maxine a gentle peck on the lips upon hearing her soft whine.

    "…How is it?” He asked, a whisper as he gazed down lovingly at the sight of her flushed expression. Beginning to move his finger in and out, he curled it slightly, eyes locked on her expression. "...I can probably fit another already.” He said, before inserting another finger almost too easily. It was just as he’d said. At the sounds of her whimpers and moans, he only increased the pace of his fingers, making sure to thrust them deeply. Her hand went down to hold onto his wrist, to feel just how he was fucking his fingers into her. Noticing this, Kenny smiled slightly, before adding a third. At this, she whined again, her legs trembling slightly already.

“God…damn it, Kenny...” She said through moans, gazing up at him. He huffed, before pulling out his fingers, rubbing her clit. They shared a rough kiss, before he pulled down his pants and boxers just enough, his length springing out. She lay back, her expression softening slightly at the sight of him. She found comfort in seeing him now just as exposed as she was. He leaned down, kissing her once more, before he looked down momentarily, to watch as he pushed inside her warmth. Groaning lowly at the feeling, he looked back up into her eyes, his hand moving up to caress her cheek. Maxine moaned softly, her legs wrapping around his waist, only pushing him in deeper. She closed her eyes, her hands grasping at the rug beneath them as he moved, pushing into the warmth that was she. She cried, laying her head back momentarily before she looked down, to watch as he fucked into her.

When they’d both finished, they simply sat together, on the floor beside each other as they drank. Beer. All was silent, the two simply relishing in the company of one another. Surely, tomorrow would be like every other workday. They would forget everything that happened that night. One more than the other.
