Redbubble did somethin' shitty!

For my Christmas gift this year, Redbubble has decided to implement a change that negatively affects me and other small artists/shops!

I'd like to tell you something that could help you make informed decisions about whether you want to use Redbubble.

If you could please signalboost to spread the word among small artists, I'd appreciate it greatly.

I don't usually ask for engagment, but I think this is something small artists like me need to know!!!

Like many artists who can't afford to run their own shop, I use a Print on Demand service. In my case, it's Redbubble. They have low margins and poor discoverability, but I knew that going in and agreed to it, so it's ok.

What I'm not okay with, however, is the fact they've removed the yearly payouts. Redbubble usually pays artists once/month if they have a balance of 20$ or greater

Because I'm a small artist, I've never made that.

Fear not, I still got paid, through the yearly payouts. In January, they'd give artists with more than 2$ in their account their yearly earnings. Last year, I got paid 16 euro.

This month, however, they changed their policy to remove the yearly payouts. I have an account balance of about $4 RN, and they won't send those to me in January.

They announced this in December 2024, after nearly a full year since the last payout.

I understand that as a platform, they're allowed to change their policy, but if I'd known that earlier, I would've discontinued my shop in 2024 after the January payout. I didn't know. I couldn't have known, they announced it THIS MONTH, after I'd already used Redbubble for all of 2024!

Now I can only get paid if I build up a balance of $20.

I'd leave the platform for 2025, but I still want to be paid for my 2024 earnings, which I can only do by getting the $20 balance.

At this rate, it'll take anywhere between 2 and 5 years. I'm a small artist, it's HARD to get traffic!

Redbubble says they've stopped doing the yearly payouts because it's harder to do them, as they mean doing many more payouts in January than any other month.

They have their reasons, but this is a change that negatively affects small artists no matter how you cut it. They're throwing small artists under the bus!

It's easier/cheaper/more manageable for them to reduce the process time and organization by screwing small artists who don't make them a lot of money!

I can't fight Redbubble (AND I DON'T WANT TO, GOD), but this is an upsetting change as a small artist. If they'd announced it at the beginning of the year, I could've simply dropped the platform and not lose any money.

Now I can either bite the bullet, stop, and forever lose my 2024 earnings, or I have to use the platform for multiple years to build up the balance.

I've decided I'll continue the shop for a limited time only, until I build the 20$ balance for a payout. Once I get that, I will close it.

So if you'd be so kind as to have a browse over the stuff at my redbubble and get any if you like it while it's still available, I'd appreciate it lots. ♥️

I want small artists to know about this change, and that it can impact them negatively. I think RB is perfectly within their right to do this, but I also think small artists deserve to know that they've proven they'll make changes which can screw them over with little notice!!

I won't ever judge anyone for choosing to use RB, ofc, but I want small artists to go in knowing that has happened and other things may change in the future like this too.

I def wish someone would've told me this was a possibility, I wouldn't have used RB if I'd known! That's all, tysm.

My sister has a heart condition that we've only been able to get an EKG for so far. My mom is babying her because her heart keeps stopping for seconds at a time; she does have severe anemia but unfortunately her heart is a separate matter from that that we have found. We need money to help get her back to the cardiologist for further testing to see where to go from here and for possible procedures.

While taking care of my sister, my mother is in need of emergency procedures on BOTH of her legs. In 2022 she had broken her leg from the knee down and we had not realized that the arteries in her left leg were damaged by the surgery done to save her leg. Her right leg is suffering from MRSA which she has been battling for the past few years now but my Step-Father (dare I call him that) who has been wholly abusive has cut my mother off financially so she cannot afford any medical care for her nor my sister, Maddie. My mother is unable to work so she's been tied to this man financially for years now and he's now taking the advantage to further worsen my mother and sister's health. Please, if you can share this at the least, I would be so forever grateful to you guys. We've raised $350 so far and all donations will solely go to medical bills and procedures that are needed. Hey folks, I'm the spouse posting here while my husband is at work, my husband who you all know as a great fanfic writer and an all-around entertaining fellow. I'm the short king with long hair that he talks about from time to time. Pleased to meet you, my name is Allegro.

But yeah, I'm just posting here since he's getting increasingly stressed by the imminent loss of our storage unit and everything we own going with it, but he can't do anything about it while at work. We need to pay them about $400 immediately in order to save it, but we also have a daily need of about $100 just to survive ourselves until he finally gets his first paycheck. Top priority always goes toward immediate survival, which is why we haven't made much progress with saving the storage unit yet since we're just barely scraping by with staying alive at all.

I don't know if anyone out there is listening or willing to help in any way, but if we could somehow get $500, we could both save the storage unit and be safe for another night, which would be a huge relief for us, especially for my poor hubby. He's been so overwhelmed by all of this that he literally cried himself to sleep last night, and he screamed himself to sleep the past few nights before that. The poor guy is really going through a lot right now and he could really use some help to keep soldiering on with that job of his.

I need help. I've recently discovered that one of my roommates is unhinged and has violent tendencies. A few nights ago he told my partner he wanted to put 14-inch holes in two of their coworkers. This sparked a fight later that night at home and then the next day, Roommate parked his oversized Jeep behind me and my partner's vehicles, blocking us in, and came in the house yelling and freaking out, so I wound up calling the cops. In a shocking turn of events, the cops were no fucking help and basically told us they couldn't do anything and to play nice with this man.

I want this man out of my house. He makes us feel unsafe and we have no idea if he's just gonna snap, since we don't know what sets him off. How do I get him out of here legally and quickly, since the cops obviously aren't going to help until one or both of us are hurt or worse?

KOSA SENATE VOTE ON 7/30/24

hello everyone!! I am back with an update for KOSA. @super-firepaw119 made a recent post about this update so most of my information will be based on her recent post and thank you also for speaking on this update :)

On 7/25/24, KOSA was put on the senate’s procedural vote, meaning that they put an end to debating and will be going forward into voting.

As of today 7/27/24 KOSA has NOT passed the Senate. There still is opposition between senators and representatives, which is good. So until Tuesday (7/30/24) which is the Senate vote, im urging and begging you to call/ email and fax your reps and senators. Senate or House yet I recommend moving onto House now, (not trying to be a debbie downer!!)

the House has yet to vote , I don’t believe there is a date set for House vote yet but let’s try to stall and push it back for as long as we can and keep calling / emailing and faxing. With election year and what’s been going on in the presidential race I want to assume it might take a bit for it to get signed to the President and depending on what state your in it will take 18 months to go into effect. Kosa is also very unconstitutional so I recommend you to remind that to your senators and representatives as well as it being a danger to LGBTQ youth and will be a danger hazard when it comes to the government ID upload. And in August the senate will go into break , this is not over and I urge you to once again, call/ email and fax and spread the word around. Do not panic I know it’s scary right now but if we voice our opposition we can stop this bill. Thank you again to @super-firepaw119 again for the information and update.
