has anyone else seen the controversy over species affirming packers? its been all over my feed and i have a lot of thoughts about it. the person that originally made them is actually my mutual on tiktok (where this whole thing originated) and i honestly think its not that big of a deal 😭

for context, a user named cyrusbarks on tiktok asked if anyone was interested in him making species affirming packers for alterhumans. a bunch of people were, so he made them and posted about it. they're sewn by hand with fabric and stuffing. they're not excessively detailed. since then, a LOT of people have been accusing him of being a zoophile and a predator because of this, which is insane to me.

first of all, packing isnt sexual and never has been. the only reason people think it's sexual is because it's genital related, which is just not correct. genitals arent sexual, and wanting species affirming gear isn't either. its no different from human packers made for trans folks already. but for some reason, people think that this specifically has sexual intent, despite not being usable in any sexual context.

second, a BUNCH of people have been misgendering him. Cyrus uses he/him and bark/barks pronouns and everyone ive seen talking about it has referred to him as They or She, both of which are misgendering. one person i was talking to literally said that he deserved to be misgendered. their exact words were "if someone's being odd... they don't deserve respect". i don't think i have to explain why this is an absurd thing to say.

third, people have been coming at ME for defending him, coming to my tiktok page calling me a zoophile. this is not only incorrect, but so, so hurtful. i love my pets so much, and being accused of being attracted to them is absolutely disgusting. my cat has gotten me through the worst times in my life, and people are implying that im abusing them because of my opinions on a stupid online controversy. its absurd.

my first mistake was expecting maturity and nuance on tiktok, i think. if you have any differing opinions or viewpoints, please please message or comment!!! i do genuinely want to discuss this topic and understand other people's viewpoints, as i feel very strongly about this. please just be respectful-- if you're just going to insult me, im not going to engage in conversation.

Thoughts on ptsd symptoms for a whumpee who was often electrocuted (via VERY strong taser)?

ooh okay!! i had to do a little research but an electric shock can cause a lot of long-term damage: physical, neurological, and psychological. to focus on the PTSD element, here's what i found from some case studies.

-Irritability, frustration, anger, and physically aggressive behaviour have been described after electrical injury in persons without preinjury mood or personality disorders.

-they might experience all the common symptoms of PTSD including mood changes, flashbacks, nightmares and insomnia, behavioral changes, etc.

-i couldn't find anything about what potential flashback triggers might be, but i can imagine it might include things like being cornered, situations in which another party might have a weapon, lingering physical pains like neuropathy, loud sounds, burns, and any other things that might remind the person of the specific circumstances of their injury.

On Sampo's name (ALL of his names!)

I feel like everyone who's a fan knows the meaning of Sampo's full name by now- the sampo was a legendary item that could magically make endless supplies of gold, flour, and salt, all priceless items at the time! So it works perfectly for a scammer businessman like Sampo. ☆

"Koski" is the Finnish word for "water rapids" which might seem kinda random but actually makes sense for him, since Aha and the Masked Fools are also referred to with water terms:

This kind of analogy isn't specific to only Aha and the Masked Fools, but it does still tie them together. So water rapids fits perfectly! Sampo wants to stir the pot! He likes to shake things around and spice things up! He's taking that stagnant pool and turning it into water rapids! It would actually explain his ridiculous hair color, too; a dark blue wave tipped with white foam haha

EDIT: an amazing contribution from @ricochetlovebombs, who heard it from hoyolab user Rattaboy. If you interpret his first and last name together, instead of separately like I did, you would get something like "money river."

In other words, Sampo's name literally means CASH FLOW SKXJMDMDMD

What I really wanted to talk about is his drag alias name, though, Brughel Poisson, because to me that's where it gets really interesting.

So like in the English version, Sampo goes by Brughel Poisson when he's in disguise. Searching for just "Brughel" itself doesn't seem to get you much at first: a Flemish and Dutch Renaissance painter named Pieter Brueghel the Elder, who was famous for his landscapes and peasant scenery, especially Hunters in the Snow and The Blue Cloak.

He's referred to as "the Elder" because he had a son also named Pieter Brueghel (the Younger), and he began a long line of painters, all named Brueghel. Some of them did original work, and many of them created reproductions of the Elder's art to sell. The Elder was also famous as a printmaker. All of this is hilarious when you remember that Sampo is an infamous counterfeiter and has sold a relic called the Parallel Universe Printer JSKZJSMD

There is also something called Brueghel's Syndrome, named after one of Brueghel's paintings called De Gaper, which pictured a man yawning widely. It's a condition that causes the mouth to open and gape uncontrollably, twisting a person's countenance into a distorted mask of their usual face.

Tumblr doesn't have a way of censoring pics like twitter, so for the sake of the medically squeamish, I'm just showing De Gaper here. But if you look up Brueghel's Syndrome, you can find pictures of actual patients, some of whom really do make faces resembling Aha's comedy and tragedy masks!

In the Chinese and Japanese versions, his alias last name is a lot more silly- In those, "Sampo" is phonetically written as "san-bo" and "san-po." And in disguise, his last names are phonetically written as... "Bo-san" and "Po-san." The Chinese version uses different tones, but still. This smug asshole seriously just decided to write his own name backwards and called it a day NDMKXMDMD

In the English version, Poisson itself is kind of a reused Hoyo asset- it's also the name of Navia's fishing village in Genshin Impact. Which is a really silly name for a village, because it literally just means "fish" in French smzjxkdkdk but!

Again, more water imagery. And in English, if something is suspicious, we say that it's "fishy," which is perhaps the most fitting association yet for someone as shady as Sampo ☆

Today I'd like to share a little bit about a subfamily of insect that's fairly common almost everywhere (barring either the north or south pole), the paper wasps! More specifically Polistinae, although some colloquial definitions also include other Vespid wasps that make similar structures, namely Stenogastrinae (Hover Wasps) and Vespinae (Hornets and Yellowjackets)!

In many cases, you might be most familiar with the European paper wasp (Polistes dominula), however, as for my location, I most commonly encounter other members of the tribe Polistini

However, there are many more species of paper wasp, including those within the aforementioned tribe Polistini, and the three other tribes: Mischocyttarini, Ropalidiini, and Epiponini. Totalling to around 1100 species, which, needless to say, is a lot of wasps!

The name 'paper wasp' is often most fitting for species within Polistinae, as the grand majority of them have queens that do make their nests from paper, which they create by collecting and chewing wood fibers, mixing them with their saliva and forming the mixture into shape in sheltered areas, complete with cells in which a queen will individually lay its eggs, plus a chemical secretion at the base of the nest to repel ants! However, they are not the only subfamily to make paper nests, as most eusocial wasps in Vespidae do, and there are also members of Polistinae that do not make paper nest, with some in the tribe Epiponini making theirs out of mud, and a few in Polistini being brood parasites and relying on other members of the tribe to raise their brood!

Members of Polistinae are also considered to be less aggressive than other related species, and are less likely to see humans as threats unless they or their nests are directly threatened (This is not to say that they are not potentially aggressive, nor to say other species are always aggressive! Respect wasps and they will typically respect you, they are wild animals and do not have the capacity for intentional malicious behavior, and attack because they're scared! Please interact properly with them, be careful around individuals and especially around nests, only kill if ABSOLUTELY necessary for safety, and stay safe if you're allergic to wasp venom)- Obviously, if they do sting you, the sting will be fairly painful, but in no other species is this quite as apparent as in the executioner wasp (Polistes carnifex), a neotropical species which has been claimed to have the most painful sting of any wasp or even of any insect whatsoever, however, information on whether or not this is true is conflicting and may depend on the individual experiencing the sting- In any case, the grand majority of paper wasp stings are not nearly as painful!

Speaking of wasp attacks, they do hunt for meat, but do NOT feed on live humans, instead, they hunt other insects! This is part of what makes them beneficial in agriculture, as they prey on some species that are considered pests to farmers and feed them to their larvae, as well as providing crucial pollination as the adults feed on plant nectar and sometimes fruit! These wasps are most often critically important to their native land in natural biocontrol!

Interestingly enough, some species within the genera Polybia and Brachygastra, tribe Epiponini, as well as Polistini's ringed paper wasp (Polistes annularis), among others that have been observed, even produce a form of honey (much like their relatives, the bees)- Perhaps most notably the Mexican honey wasp (Brachygastra mellifica), another great example of their benefit as they help in the cultivation of crops, such as avocados!

Overall, like all wasps, paper wasps are extremely interesting and beneficial to nature and to people (even if they can unfortunately be seen as an annoyance by some)! For further reading on these insects (and others), check out the articles below!:

Some key information:

They are striking so all performers will have protection against AI

The struck companies are those signed to the Interactive Media Agreement

The listed companies by SAG-AFTRA include Activision Productions Inc, Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc, Electronic Arts Productions Inc, Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc, Llama Productions LLC, Take 2 Productions Inc, VoiceWorks Productions Inc and WB Games Inc. Though this may not be everyone.

Important things from the FAQ:

Some games from struck companies are non-struck (due to the Collective Bargaining Agreement still being in effect)

Localisations will be affected if covered under the Interactive Localization Agreement

Actors who are part of SAG-AFTRA cannot work for non-union or independent/low-budged productions during the strike unless they are signed to an Interim Interactive Media Agreement, Interim Interactive Localization Agreement or a Tiered-Budget Independent Interactive Media Agreement

Similarly to the previous strike, struck work cannot be promoted. This includes accepting awards for performances in struck games. This does NOT include hosting/performing a skit at an awards show and San Diego Comic Con (the latter due to the close proximity to the calling of the strike)

The christian God is one of the, if not the, most merciful deities in any religion, however, the christian God is also, by definition of the word, one of the, if not the, most vengeful deities in any religion

Something most bigots hiding behind christianity to excuse their bigotry do is they primarily focus on the vengeful aspect while pretending to believe that God is merciful, demonizing both sinners and those they believe to be lesser than them, such as the LGBTQIA+ community, but here’s the thing;

It technically does not matter whether or not being LGBTQIA+ (or other similarly scorned things) is considered a sin or not. Because even if it is, those who identify under any of those labels (myself included) are still capable of getting into Heaven. Anyone that says anything along the lines of “You are going to Hell because you are gay.” Is objectively wrong, because even if being gay, or bi, or lesbian, or trans, or aromantic, or pan, or aroace, or asexual, or any other label is a sin, there are only two sins that are unforgivable, those being Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, and causing harm to children, neither of which identifying as those labels falls under

Genesis 22:1-19 (kind of the entire point of the biblical story of Abraham is not to harm children, even if the lord asks you too.)

Mathew 18:2-6 “‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven… If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'” (A direct quote from Jesus)

What is worth demonizing people over, however, is pedophilia, child abuse or neglect, kicking out or disowning your children for being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and other similar things. All of those are harm to children and as such those who commit those sins deserve punishment. Now, I will not personally condone taking revenge against those who commit these sins, for Vengance is the lord’s to take

While the/an admin of Writing-prompt-s did start this blog years ago, he then left it to idle and focused on his original blog. I saw this and reached out, again years ago, asking to run it - to which I was promoted to admin. I have been running Drawing-prompt-s solo for about 7 or 8 years now.

Until yesterday (08.06.24) I had no idea anything was even going on with his blog. I have nothing to do with it, I barely even see anything from it aside from the rare prompt come up on my dash nowadays. I only found out when I went to Q a bunch of posts up and found a slew of hate mail ranging from calling me a zionist, threatening violence, and telling me to kill myself. And one of my followers having sent an anon informing me that one of those posts had incorrectly stated he ran this blog as well - that user has since recognized that this is not the case, and various others have pointed it out.

I had a pinned post about this before and when I left for a few hours and came back it was gone. I am working under the assumption right now this is just the fault of Tumblr, though I am tentative about that. So if you see this posted again that is why, and if you see this exact post made again then just be aware it is becuase I am saving a copy of this message and each time the post is removed I will be reposting it, as i am saving this elsewhere so I do not have to rewrite it each time.
