Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.
But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.
But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.
It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'

On today's question of "Am I aroace or is my genderqueer identity inhibiting me from being able to see myself in a relationship since I will be viewed as "the girl"" OR "Am I actually non-binary or is my aroace identity distancing me from womanhood since society defines a woman's worth based on her relationship with men and if she doesn't have that is she really a woman?" And the answer is I have no fucking clue

I recently became aware of discourse surrounding the Ed/Stede/Zheng fic I wrote with P. Funnily enough I didn't even get credited as one of the authors, which is the worst part of the whole thing to me!
However, I want to remind everyone on OFMD tumblr that NO ONE in OFMD has a canon sexuality, with the possible exception of Lucius, whose mum thought he liked girls for years.
You can head canon anyone however you like, but neither Ed nor Stede has a canon sexuality, and insisting that they do rings my biphobia alarm.

Trying to gatekeep actors who are trans from playing evil characters just because you think it could villianize trans people is anti-trans btw.
Mingling their personal life into the storytelling to change the narrative is disgusting. Anyone doing that is just as gross as the few and far between people who actually do think the way that your conspiracy theory implies. Don't cater to transphobes by shaming trans people from taking whatever roles they want.
Let actors act. Let trans women play cis women. They are women. And forcing them being trans into the narrative when it's not actually part of the story, then demonizing it, is transphobic.
Cut that shit out.

Interesting little thing, Sorn and Nym Orlith's names can both be found in the "male" section of drow names from Dragon Magazine (Sorn meaning enchanted or spell, Nym meaning skeleton or skull, and possibly Orly-th meaning Guild of Challenges).
Sorn says they fled because male drow are treated like dogs. At first I figured it meant his sister went with him for a genuine care of her brother and twin (and perhaps still is the case) but I wonder if Nym is trans and transitioned after leaving the Underdark but kept her name.

i am not anti sam but i sometimes find myself hating sam because some samgirls are super into bio/gender essentialism whether or not they realize it. sam is a woman and dean is a man and sam is the victim and dean is his abuser like what show are you watching?
#as much as we all like to have fun these are two cis men characters who have roles to play in the narrative they don’t escape#they are both being abused. we find this out *fully* in s14#but it’s always been present. this is the abuse sam and dean winchester show#but some of y’all don’t actually understand abuse! you think abuse is just being mean and yelling#‘sam is a woman because his autonomy is taken away’ your idea of womanhood is fucked up and you should unpack that#if you compare sam to a woman because he’s been SA’d then you are WEIRD. they are both men canonically getting SAd????#like yes dean has some weird stuff about his own gender that he needs to unpack but it’s part of a mask?? like if u genuinely#believe that he seriously 100% believes this stuff then you don’t know his character at all#and yes their relationship is toxic but if you think for one second that there’s a genuine power imbalance then you’re sorely mistaken#dean’s entire identity is based around taking care of sam. sam can do wrong but not enough to be truly held accountable#it doesn’t matter what he does. dean will always protect him and be there and do whatever it takes to save him. he will always forgive him#and sam knows this and uses it to his advantage. he repeatedly goes behind dean’s back and avoids the communication he says is so important#he blames dean for shit that isn’t his fault because he’s there#and no he may not fight dean on stuff but he can. he often doesn’t because he doesn’t want to!#they enable each other and they don’t grow because they can’t because there’s always something else BECAUSE THEY’RE BOTH BEING ABUSED BY GOD#they’re not allowed to take a break. they’re not allowed to slow down or stop or rethink it’s always the end of the world#so yes some of y’all annoy me with the ‘i wish dean was nicer in the midst of his trauma’#shit or saying that therapy fixes everything stuff or whatever#and the fact that so many of y’all use that to treat sam like some fragile white woman who can’t#have an opinion without her husband’s permission is WEIRD like your gender stuff is weird#and just repacked essentialism onto them. idc if you’re trans. unpack that shit cuz your meta is full#of rad fem friendly or adjacent shit if you refuse to talk about gender without using abuse as an argument#because that does not hold up in canon of these two FICTIONAL MEN!!! or in the real world#(edit: most of the stuff i see is by cis women but im saying ‘idc if ur trans’ bc it’s not exclusive to them)#supernatural#sam winchester#dean winchester#wank adjacent#maybe just straight up#fandom wank

lol i literally couldnt care less about fandom drama but i will i say i saw an entitled cishet say "NO ONE BETTER START SAYING MIZU IS they/them!!" and if you cannot consider Mizu, an outwardly gendernonconforming character who shows a distaste towards 'feminine' dress/makeup/roles and penis-in-vagina sex as potentially nonbinary, trans, or otherwise ... then like who is ok for the trans fans out here to imagine as trans??? like who will you give us permission for, Your CisMajesty?
lmao kiss our collective trans azz tbh

Unfortunate that Rook is genderlocked male because that jealousy ask has big i wanna be your girlfriend by girl in red energy to me LMAO
Which like also, ik it's not the situation but to me, a known homosexual, the parallels in his behaviour and someone who's unwilling and afraid to risk their friendship because of internalised homophobia and fear that the other person won't, can't feel the same way...I want to be with you but I've convinced myself I can never, it would be wrong, so I try to convince myself I'm content with being friends but then when I see that potential between you and someone who would be easier, who would make sense, it *hurts*...👀👀
Anyways sorry this was a silly gay ramble mostly unrelated to the actual game sdfgjkl just got me thinking
This is really funny to me because if you play a male, non binary, and/or trans MC then yeah. That's literally the vibe ajsjsjd Rook knows he isn't straight and has even dated a guy once in high school, but for various reasons, definitely isn't out about it.
Also alas a female or nonbinary Rook would literally be a completely different character due to how much of himself is kinda anchored around being a guy. A lot of his personality is built up around "this is how teen/college guys act so I'm going to mirror it." F!Rook would have been the same, and nb!Rook is....complicated ajsjs. Also hate to say it but his mom would not have cared as much about f!rook and Rook's dad would have gotten custody a lot sooner, making f!Rook significantly more willing to be open and slightly less traumatized lmaO
But yeah, changing Rook's gender wouldn't be just like changing flavor text and having slight differences, it would be totally changing parts of his backstory, his personality, and even parts of his BA subplot (especially for nb Rook, seeing as nb!Rook would probably be them having to realize they're non binary in the first place ajsjs). Gender just has a significant impact on his character, for better or for worse.

i think trans people SHOULD get famous for bad art. i think trans people SHOULD get a major following for things they don't really put their whole heart into. i think trans people SHOULD be huge stars on the internet for decidedly mid quality content with problematic themes.

The patriarchy says men can’t relate to women.
It says that you always have to put other men first, always.
Your wife is a nag, your sister is a bother and an annoyance, your daughter is a burden. When he says “women am I right?” about your family members, you’re supposed to nod and laugh along with him. Ally alongside a stranger over the women you’ve known for years because women, am I right? You’re both men. By the grace of his gender he understands you more then a family member ever could.
You can’t be interested in girly stuff, heaven forbid teenage girl stuff. You like bands until teenage girls are into them and then they’re posers and name the songs because get out of my space don’t you know we can’t be in the same space?? I can’t be like you. I can make horrible jokes about you, demean you, generally look down on you but I can’t be like you. That’s the sin.
Stay away from chick flicks, pink, anything that women have left their painted glittery fingerprints on. If your friend hands you her purse stand there with the most uncomfortable expression and make sure to project put upon expressions at every man on the vicinity so he knows you’re suffering.
Always make sure you’re acceptable to your male friends and male coworkers, they are your priority your social currency. And a woman trying to be your friend is just a pick me, the only reason a woman is trying to be around a man is so he might date her. They just want male approval. Those poor things. They want to be one of the boys. Because no girl can like beer and sports. Anyway move, can’t you see Saturdays are for the boys, we’re going to the man cave, the sanctuary from all the women, no girls allowed sign on the door. You look at your friend to see if he approves. He does, good.
You want to stop drinking but that’s how you bond with your men. Your statues is from being able to handle your liquor, being able to hurt yourself just enough that you’ve proven your manliness. You thought about going vegan but they’d make fun of you. Hurting other things is a part of it as well. You have to be the strongest one.
And men, if you like women. If you like hanging around your female friends, or your mom (you mamas boy) or your sister you’re a sissy. If you value women, care about their opinions or give advice on their hair or listen to their debates about the right dress, well you’re gay.
That’s the only explanation for caring about a woman.
You’re not a real man because to be a man is to be absent of anything “woman”. Men are from mars women are from Venus and we are completely, completely separate species and not the same one put down two paths of blue and pink.
There are so, so many differences between men and women there are too many to count I can’t even get into it and it’s not the fact that one calls themselves men and one calls themselves women. No thats… there has to be more than that.
And we hate the people who change from men and women because what do you mean the line is that thin. That there are “female” traits waiting in my dna, that we are the same species after all and our similarities are waiting in my bones.
Because then what keeps me from everything we joke about with her. All the violence of being a woman… that’s not me that’s not because I did everything right because I did all the man things and I followed all the rules. And the men and god forbid the girls who were secretly among us all the time, the gays ones the girlish ones well yeah we treated them like women. They didn’t follow the rules. It’s easy to be a woman but god please don’t treat me like one.
Because being a man is a set of rules of expectations lest you be thrown out but it’s also a biological fact, and you’ll always be one but ban estrogen because that could change.
We joke with our friends we perform correctly and at the end of the day it’s still that woman is human and it’s in your bones. Half of your worlds your cultures you try to keep yourself uninfected by it sneaks up your mind and into your heart disgusting. You’ve sunken your nails into your arm as though you can pull it out out your skin and when you lift them off, the lines they left on your skin they’re pink. No, no wait they’re darker you’re safe.
But when you look into your mirror and you look into your eyes.
Damn it.
You really shouldn’t have cried.
