I want a Fate game where the protagonist doesn't have a Saber. Think about it. Every Fate game they either give you a choice of Servants (where one of the choices is that game's Saber) or they give you no choice and hand you a Saber. It's a predictable pattern that they just keep falling into.

Like what if they just gave us a Fate game where the protagonist's Servant is an Assassin? Your super-capable ally is crap in a straight fight - BUT there's nobody better at sneaking around, gathering intel, and plotting and executing elaborate, well, assassinations. It'd be like a Fate take on Metal Gear Solid or Assassin's Creed, where you can handle small clusters of weak enemies no problem, but the target Servants are impossibly strong - unless you sabotage things in exactly the right way to expose their weakness for a covert strike.

Or what about a Fate game designed around your Servant being a Caster? Yes, I know you have a playable Caster in Fate/Extra, but the game is designed around you fighting with a Saber, Archer, OR a Caster - let me see what a game DEDICATED to playing with a Caster servant would look like. Are you scrambling around helping your Servant set up ever more elaborate magical workshops? Maybe it's a broad-scale territory control game, wherein your objective is to slowly take over the map to gather more power for your Servant as they use their workshop to generate all the actual fighting units you'll be using? It could manifest as something not unlike a 4x game or an RTS, where you have to capture and control key strategic points, holding them long enough to gain enough of an advantage to defeat your enemies. Hell, even just a dedicated Archer game, where it's about finding and holding key sniper spots to take out your enemies at long range! Make it a fucking third-person shooter, I don't care, it can be done! Like not that the conventional action games aren't fun, but c'mon, let's see what the other classes have to offer!

while im reminiscing about old fate fandom anyway, i think it's hard for anyone who got into the series through fgo or even just after fgo got big to realize just how much impact fgo had. it outright changed how people talk about the characters, before fgo it was viable and common to refer to every single servant by their class and what installment besides fsn they were from (lancer, zero lancer, extra lancer, ccc lancer) and each instalment that had multiple of a single class always provided some other option to refer to them with that would differentiate them while keeping their true name secret (red and black factions in apocrypha, red saber casko and red tea for playable extra servants, launcher for karna so liz could be ccc lancer).

fgo was an actual gamechanger because it was the first time readers were just given every servant's true name upfront and were expected to use it instead of their class. on top of that there'd been several mentions of servants that fit multiple classes before fgo but fgo was the first time we actually saw any servant summoned in an alternate class, making class names even more useless because not only did "fgo lancer" not mean anything but lancer in fgo was also a caster.

for years after fgo's release the type moon wiki clung to its page title name scheme of "[class] - fate/[whatever they're from]" because until fgo (which released 11 years after fsn) that was the most sensible and spoiler-free way to refer to servants and it took a very long list of "[class] - fate/grand order (true name)" pages for them to give up and change every servant's page title to their true name.

fgo tried to get back some of the mystery of true names with epic of remnant but they didn't manage to make it stick or really recapture that magic, and by now effectively nobody really refers to servants outside fgo by class anymore either unless they're veterans like me, and even then most of us only stick to doing it for the fsn servants. fgo has made it much harder for any fate story to write its mystery around true names anymore because out of necessity it has caused fan spaces to no longer respect the mystery of true names.

I used to want more Saber content but tbh I don't think they're going to give us anything at this point, FGO is so far off the rails we have a Summer Beast Servaverse Ereshkigal and a month-long Summer event doubling as a semi-canon Ordeal Call chapter.

FGO had its chance to give the original Saber her time to shine, back in Lostbelt 6, and that fell to the wayside when Nasu scrapped the original plot and retooled it. By now I would just hope for another Fate spinoff featuring her, one that isn't a shitty gacha game.

Meantime Passionlip has...the Fate/Extra games I guess and way less attention than Meltryllis, and it seems very unfair to bar her from a summer alt but give one to Chloe Einzebern (literally who besides that gross creep Takeuchi asked for that?). Big boobs are too much but we can put a 10-year-old in bondage gear? Seriously? Why do BB and Melt get summer alts but not Plip?

So we're getting this NPC sprite waved in front of our faces, the devs knowing we want it but taunting us with it. And someone is unironically saying we should be grateful to have the NPC non-playable sprite in lieu of a swimsuit alt? Thank you for the nice comment about my art! I've been in a slump recently on account of the world being on fire and having chronic pain in my hands, so I'm glad people are still enjoying what I have put out there.

Most of the EC outfits are only really "in-game" as related to non-canon seasonal "Portal" events, referred to as such due to their existence being explained via the existence of a spell of the same name, originally developed by Shinra before being ruled useless and put on a shelf. The materia for the spell was apparently stolen at some point in the early '90s, and it periodically crops up due to fiends, Cetra, or other nonhuman entities creating an excuse for the cast to get into alternate universe hijinks. The lore indicates that the Portal materia may have been stolen by the A.I. that ran the simulator originally used to train P-0 Class SOLDIERs during the course of the First SOLDIER Battle Royale, which eventually developed a form of sentience and literally ran away. This seems to be what caused that training program to shut down in-universe. (IRL the game was shut down because of real world financial fraud perpetrated by one of the co-creators of Sonic the Hedgehog, because we live in the weirdest timeline. Getting some closure on it in-game was super interesting, though.)

The game itself is intended to be a sort of abridged version of the entire Compilation of Final Fantasy VII (not the funny youtube haha kind of "abridged") told in short sections with frequent breaks, allowing it to be played basically anywhere.

There are currently three active titles:

Final Fantasy VII: The OG, but make it bite-sized. The pacing here is pretty poor, but mostly because the devs seem intent on pushing it as the flagship title of Ever Crisis even though it is not the one that they use in advertisement. (Current chapter: recruiting Vincent in Nibelheim.)

Crisis Core: Everyone's favorite gay tragedy. The pacing on this one is about the same as it is in the original, although there are a couple new little bits. The translation is still ass due to "no homo," and recently they seem to be working very hard to retcon Angeal being a self-righteous trashbag for some reason, which is kind of ruining the whole storyline, but we'll see if they fix that. (Current chapter: Genesis' siege on Shinra HQ.)

The First SOLDIER: Not to be confused with the battle royale title of the same name mentioned above, this game starts with three unenhanced P-0 Class SOLDIER randos (they're relevant to Rebirth) and segues into the backstory of Sephiroth starting around age 13-14. This is what they used in advertisement, and then delayed updates on so many times that the ending was spoiled by Tseng during a board meeting in Rebirth. I am not joking. (Current chapter: Act I end.)

The game is intended to eventually also include Dirge of Cerberus and even Before Crisis (which has never been released outside Japan and hasn't been playable even in Japan for over a decade), but not until after the OG and CC's storylines finish. There is roughly one chapter update to a single active title every 4-8 weeks, so it's going to take a while.

All that said, there are currently around 80 alternate outfits spread over 13 playable characters (some are more favored than others, Aerith has about a dozen while Barret has three), and I don't actually even have half of them altogether. I do have a lot, though, so I'll put details under the cut of what I have and if there are any specific ones you'd like to see I can get screenshots for reference purposes.

HSR x Fate UBW coming in Q3 2025 !

(I write these in mind for anyone doesn't know Fate series at all)

For now it's unknown will it come with stories or just skin or full pack with playable UBW character

Not long ago HSR had interview with FGO team, the magazine only release their Q&A but considering both side love each other project, these collab shouldn't really suprising. If there's suprising fact is why only UBW not FGO directly ? Since there is no info about collab details, let's make some analysis for now :

FGO especially Fate series is really big world ! If you need comparasion, it's not only Honkai Impact world but all Hoyoverse become one and you need to know at least a bit of each title to make sense about Fate series !

Continuing point above, which is the reason they gave us years for this collab ! Their developer consider years should be enough for player to quick read most Fate series franchise (lol)

Fate as whole already into their 20 years old now so it's kinda impossible for anyone to learn that series from start (even I only know fifty percent of it). So to make it simple, they just pick their well known franchise but not making players too confused about their world building which is Fate Stay Night. UBW is decent choice considering what's happened with other two.

If anyone need comparasion, UBW kinda like GGZ in term of popularity and reminiscing (lol) while FGO kinda like former Genshin in term of popularity.

I kinda saw FGO pretty desperate nowdays or maybe they're already out of idea to promote Fate series onward. For anyone doesn't know, FGO was the king of mobile gacha games but after Genshin release their revenue drop sharply and with more Chinese gacha games out lately, you can say now it's their lowest situations so to be honest Fate series feels like gonna dying sooner or later which is this collab came.

I can say for sure that this collab came from HSR side since those otaku ops growth like now while watching/reading Fate series (lol) so I think there's no way HSR or even Fate team will slack off especially for storytelling since it's Fate main selling (if there's one for collab later lol)

Onto collab prediction since it's specifically UBW, means the main character is either Rin or/and Emiya. Maybe anyone still not read questionable leaks but there's info this collab need two version to finish means there's at least four and max six new character avaliable later. Considering UBW stories, I can think of Saber and Gilgamesh or maybe Kirei can join the roaster too.

Now for everyone who doesn't know Fate series and need pointer for later collab, first please watch Fate Stay Night, it have three titles with same story premise but different PoV with different ending (Fate Stay Night 24 episode -> Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works 1 movie -> Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel 3 parts movie). Next it's Fate Stay Night prologue, Fate Zero 24 episode and you're good to breakthrough the collab only.

Sounds simple right, which is the reason they choose Unlimited Blade Works for collab. If FGO, you could swarm yourself with 9 years FGO lore materials + other works with and without "Fate" titles on it (lol)

I want to try an antagonist at some point but I lack the emotional willpower to go up to three muses for long. I also don't think I could handle writing a lord or someone important, I like my guys who don't matter.

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I don't know how to explain this because it's v vibe base. I like when there's emotional tension. I like seeing interactions between other characters weave together. I like building towards something bigger. Scenes where someone breaks and finally talks about something they've been holding back.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I want to force Yunaka to talk about her past with people I want that shit to get dragged out to the open I want that shell cracked open to the meat baby.

Favorite TOA-related memories? Happyland2024 was a lot of fun and I'm glad that was my first lore event back, I had a great time with everyone. Team Justice will always be dear to me, as that was the moment that really got me hooked on TOA. Getting Nat's Innes' name in babe hunt just to beat Lilly's Cynthia and Lilly's reaction always makes me laugh.

Present or past tense? Lately I've been doing present more but the thing about me is that if I stop thinking for two seconds I change tense without noticing.

Me personally tjough? I'm actually mildly disappointed it's UBW they're going with. Yk what I would've LOVED to see? Fate/Grand Order. Their whole thing is going through time and space to fix irregularities to prevent the world from ending, and HSR may as well be one of the places they can go to bc maybe it's a limited-time singularity or smth 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I'm not too fussed though!!! honkai star rail / fate: unlimited blade works collab next year

Yeahhhh... kind of funny, given the more recent FSN project was Heaven's Feel, but the HSR director did say he was an UBW/Archer fanboy.

Seems like it's likely just going to be a playable UBW character in HSR, like Asuka in HI3 or Aloy in Genshin. Given it's UBW specifically, I can't help but wonder if it will be Archer... why the specificity if it's just gonna be the traditional Saber, right, and UBW's main distinction is that it's the Rin-and-Archer route...

It'll be so funny if Nasu writes an event for HSR though. Dunk on them man, do it-

I've uploaded Soul Saber 1.5 to internet archive, so everyone can enjoy it at their leisure. It seems the game is unpurchaseable now, possibly because of me?

It's actually the 3rd and final game in the Soul Saber line, it combines the animations and characters of 1 with the gameplay of 2. But it's only a bit less jank than 2 but arguably more playable.

The clothes destruction is tamer, the characters will never be totally naked, so there's that.

The Special Attacks, which are super strong, are supposed to be done with Z + X while blocking. But I can NEVER get it them to come out consistently. The AI can do them instantly, so I think that might be a programming issue where the input triggers don't read right and/or the window to do it is weird. Everything in the shop is stupid expensive.

Anyway, try to have fun. By the way, he's used the same music in all 3 games and I think he stole it from Higurashi.
