I often hear/read about how Jack and Elsa can pass off as siblings because they supposedly look alike. I personally don't think they do (or maybe that's the shipper in me talking lol) just because they are both light-haired, blue-eyed, and have a pale complexion. I mean, both their hair and eye colors are different shades anyway, that has to count for something, right?! XD

If you haven't heard of the song before, there are basically two major interpretations to it: it can either be viewed as a platonic or romantic relationship between twins. The overall idea is that, as adolescents, they realize that they're growing and that things are no longer the same. By that, no longer the same physically—as in their once similar facial features, hand sizes, etc. are all different now— and from a social standpoint, where it is no longer acceptable to do some things that were so normal for them as twins, such as sleeping in the same bed together (like I said before, you can view it however you like; be it either as the innocent indignance of close-knit twins who were suddenly made to distance themselves, or a tale of forbidden incestuous love). Most vocaloid songs, including this one, are up to interpretation anyway. I might be slightly off though, it has been quite a while since I've delved into the meanings of vocaloid songs. Whether or not to consider this jelsa piece as platonic or romantic, it's also up to you hehehe.

I have mixed feelings about this artwork. I haven't tried this art style in a while and though I like how it turned out, I'm not satisfied with the hands lol they're the bane of my existence xD. I also kept going back and forth modifying random parts of the artwork, so I decided to finally post it because I will never be done with it at this rate xD.

I like Jelsa in the platonic sense, post Frozen 2. Elsa is the fifth spirit? Ok now she is the mother of spirits. Jack is a winter spirit and an eternal child. She is a mother now. Gale (the wind) drags him to her kicking and screaming and now she has to deal with this.

Fear will be your worst enemy. Why? Boogeyman. Pitch Black. Do you see my vision. Elsa is barely out of the closet living with her gf now they are mothers of a child winter spirit with authority problems who can fly.

What does Elsa want?

Since I’ve been on a bit of a Frozen binge recently, I was having some thoughts:

If anyone’s been in the Frozen fandom for as long as I have, we’ve all wondered whether Elsa would ever become attached to someone. The early Jelsa shippers, Helsa (which I do ship, I have my reasons, don’t @ me), #giveelsaagirlfriend trending on twitter, the newer Elsamaren shippers, and so on. Ever since Disney realized the franchise potential of this story, that's been the big question brought up for the past decade.

I will say I can definitely understand the perception of Elsa being aromantic/asexual because honestly, think about it: considering her past struggles with controlling her powers and her fear of hurting those she loves, it’s probably very difficult for her to be vulnerable with other people, even platonically with her own family. If she was that uncomfortable being around others and trying to manage her issues, how uncomfortable is she with being in love? Being desired? Wanting to be with someone?

No matter what options they go with for her in the 3rd sequel, it might be an interesting perspective to see this more vulnerable side of Elsa, if they choose to give her a romantic partner, because for the past two movies we’ve only gotten the perspective of her focusing on herself. She wanted to learn the truth of who she was and to make her peace with it, no longer denying her magical abilities or trying to shove them down out of fear. She wanted to reconnect with her sister and try to have a family again. But what does Elsa want for herself beyond that? Who can really stand on her level and approach her?

In spite of her connections with her sister and the rest of her family, there is still a level of unapproachability to her because of the dissonance between her humanity and the almost mythic nature of her powers. Even though Anna loves her sister, we can observe that even she struggles sometimes to understand Elsa’s powers, especially her role as the Snow Queen/the 5th Spirit, and Anna falls back in awe of her like everyone else. It’s like this quote from the movie The Philadelphia Story (which is a great movie btw, highly recommend):

“You're like some marvelous, distant, well, queen, I guess. You're so cool and fine and always so much your own. There's a kind of beautiful purity about you, Tracy, like a statue.”

To which Katharine Hepburn’s character replies:

“I don't want to be worshipped. I want to be loved.”

Does Elsa want that kind of love? So far, the answer’s been a tentative “no,” at least from the writers and cast. Whether it's because of the potential conservative outcry or disappointing the lgbtq community yet again is anyone's guess, but for now I can only assume that leaving her unattached has been the safest option for Disney so far.

But since we’ve already crossed the threshold of Elsa’s self-acceptance and self-realization of her powers, where do we go beyond that in terms of her character? It’s only natural to wonder what she wants beyond understanding herself, being comfortable with her powers, and being accepted. She has a supportive family, is making friendships with the Northuldra, and has a kingdom that loves her, but does she stand alone or can someone meet her at her level? Romantically or otherwise? Who can challenge her, really?

Tracy Lord: "I don't seem to you made of bronze?"

Macaulay Connor: "No, you're made out of flesh and blood. That's the blank, unholy surprise of it. You're the golden girl, Tracy. Full of life and warmth and delight.”

Does she have to remain this mythic goddess that everyone admires, who has to have a dress transformation/inspiration anthem about self-actualization every movie? What if she had a moment where she was grounded and had to focus on something besides her powers? What if she lost them? How would that affect her character then?

Those are questions I hope might be answered in Frozen 3. I'm fine with whatever choices they make in terms of her sexuality, as precarious at that may be, but I just think it would be an interesting aspect of her character to explore whether or not she could have an equal, or whether or not she can finally come down to earth.

Hello sweets,

I just wanna say that, along with my adoration and absolute dedication to Jelsa (Jack frost X Elsa), I share a safe space for Blackice (Pitch Black X Jack Frost), Hijack (Hiccup Haddock X Jack frost), Fear (Pitch Black X Elsa) ships as well. The order of preference kinda decreases as it goes though, if I'm being brutally honest.

Whether it's a romantic or platonic ship, that is secondary. For me, it's the dimensions and dynamics which I care for the most. Which is boosted by the fact that this is all a "fan's work". I can explore and navigate their interactions with the freedom of "just doing it for fun" and also learning how to write and design various characters. And this can be implemented when creating my ocs, and their worlds and stories as immersive as possible, too.

Sorry for the small rant post. Kinda wanna yap about idk, "after effect for an individual after spending some time in some 'x' Fandom".

As an official all time tumblr newbie and lurker, who has only been signing in using Google accounts until this year, I've been in the ROTBTD X Frozen Fandom for most of my time here. (I MEAN 7 years is no joke, unless it's considered one, idk).

And I just have to say, in a way it is a good thing, you know, to atleast know a tiny bit of each Fandom, EXCLUDING social demographics, and just floating around. Just enjoying for the sake of it while being interested in the way their respective stories unfold within the audience and devotees of the Fandom's ships and crossovers. It's all fine. You need not involve too deep and still enjoy the delicacy. Each to their own.

And then there're people like me. Who just have the feral urge to know about everything even from the most basic interactions, between NPCs even. Every nook and cranny has a hidden treasure and a new concept ready to be discovered. The concepts that mend your reality and answer questions, while allowing you to stay in own pace of discovering, genuinely speaking to your soul. Instead of just enjoying the end product, the meal brought to the table, I need to know whether the kitchen chefs have made a deal with the vendor for early access to fresh portables, or are they just making it out of magic (it's a metaphore guys, I'm not THAT crazy). You know, that sorta thing. Plus I love to design and make compositions, colour palettes, shape languages, based on these factors alone, I'm afraid. The factors that I've come up with and the lore that was unearthed and was documented under the aid and guidance offered by the Fandom, and it's talented and dedicated members, to make the end product as best as I could and to do the whole concept of "fan's work" justice. So thank you so much creators for being an inspiration by just being you. Love you all.

Queerplatonic NaLu

Before I get into this I need to define what queerplatonic means.

It is a relationship which is more intense and intimate than is considered common or normal for a "friendship", but doesn't fit the traditional sexual-romantic couple model. It is characterized by a strong bond, love, and emotional commitment, yet is not perceived by those involved as "romantic".

In other words something that is between friendship and romance.

Do you remember that chapter/episode where Mira convinces Lucy that Natsu has a crush on her? Lucy doesn't believe her at first but slowly she started seeing everything Natsu says and does as evidence of him having feelings for her. She then freaks out and has mixed feelings about being in a romantic relationship with Natsu. However eventually she becomes more comfortable with that idea. In the end she is embarassed and disappointed but this incidents does affect their relationship in any way. In that chapter Lucy went from seeing their relationship as platonic to seeing it as romantic and back to viewing it as platonic in a matter of hours.

This is what Mashima wrote about that chapter.

A lot of anti NaLu arguments claim that Mashima has already intended NaLu to be platonic. That's however not what Mashima actually said. He said he didn't intend their relationship to be romantic. I think that's important to note.

Now this is quite old and given that Mashima is from a different culture and speaks a different language, him knowing this specific term that a lot of english speakers don't know is unlikely. So it's entirety possible that he intended NaLu to be a queerplatonic relationship without knowing the specific term for that kind of relationship.

Mashima states he has been written NaLu as more than just friends but less than lovers. Something in between friendship and romance. In other words queerplatonic.

A lot of the good faith anti NaLu arguments claim that Nalu isn't a bad relationship but a platonic one. While to NaLu shippers their relationship is very obviously romantic. Both sides are convinced that their interpretation is canon. I think this happens because their relationship exists in the area between friendship and romance. It's neither or both depends on your perspective. It's friends with benefits but the benefit is that they live together and cuddle a lot.

A relationship with a strong bond, emotional commitment and love where people in the relationship don't think of their relationship as romantic does very much perfectly describe NaLu. I think Lucy has feeling for him but she doesn't necessarily view their relationship as romantic.

While not exclusive queerplatonic relationships are more common amoung aro/ace people. A lot of people including myself have speculated about Natsu being on the ace spectrum. He shows little to no sexual attraction and what little attention he does show is directed towards Lucy. Which to me feels very much like grey/demi sexual. It's something to consider.

From the begining it felt like there was something more present in their relationship. A sort of ease and tenderness that isn't typically depicted in romantic relationships

That being said I don't think their relationship was romantically coded the way Gruvia or Jelsa were.

I do think Mashima has changed his views on NaLu and is writing them to be more romantic and that's perfectly fine. As things stands now their relationship feels more on the romantic side rather than platonic and I would very much like to see them actually get together. I just don't think that was his original intention.

But regardless of intentions fairy tail is fiction and so your interpretation of NaLu be it romantic or platonic is perfectly valid. Similarly even if I'm wrong my interpretation of them being queerplatonic is also valid.

I think viewing NaLu as a queerplatonic relationship is interesting and it's something we should consider while discussing whether NaLu is platonic or romantic.

I can't expresshow angry I am about the fanfics about Jelsa, in which Toothiana is exposed as a "jealous ex" or a "hysterical fan" of Jack. The fact that she openly demonstrates her obviously non-platonic feelings for Jack does not make her a bitch. This does not mean that she will plot his potential passion. At least because Toothiana simply does not have time for such nonsense (even if we are talking about Modern AU).

To my multishippers out there who believes in Jelsamaren ot3 solidarity, I have come to share a headcanon of a Jelsa stan that I saw like two years ago and that I also headcanoned. I think it's something along the lines of Honeymaren being Elsa's past lover and then she died cause she's a spirit ig and then she found Jack years later. OR! The other way around when human Jack who's a lover of Elsa's fell into a frozen lake like he did in the movie and then she met honeymaren when she's moved on. Jack finds them and then platonic exes Jelsa happens or a polyamorous relationship. I think this is a better approach than shipwars and hate comments on both ships. I love them both. <3

mk: okayyy uhhh. marc still regularly eats mres because hes mentally ill. they have curly hair. they still keep kosher. they have tattoos!! marc got their first one back in his teenage rebellion phase and the collection has grown since then (he knows full well that his dad would scold him for having them (from my understanding tattoos are generally frowned apon in judaism) but the 48 year old man can indulge in some petty rebellion. as a treat)

Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange

It's officially open for sign-ups!!!

The Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange is an exchange where participants write and request fan works based on matching criteria. Each creator will select 3-7 predetermined Frozen ships and 5-10 previously nominated animated movie AUs per ship to create and receive fan works for. There are about 25 ships to choose from and more than 100 AUs.

For example: Kristoff/Anna in a Robin Hood AU or Jack/Elsa in an Alice in Wonderland AU or Elsa/Anna in a Pocahontas AU.

You will only be asked to create a fan work for one of the ships and AUs you select. But you won't find out which one until you get your assignment!

Sign-ups start today and run through Friday, November 4th. Assignments will be delivered on Saturday, November 5th.

Dear Tumblr user,I have read your rant regarding Jelsa and Jackunzel, and I must admit, your arguments lack factual support. You claim that Jelsa is solely based on their ice powers and physical similarities, but you fail to acknowledge the emotional connection between them. Jelsa and Jackunzel

Are Both Overrated (Or a Rant towards Extreme Shippers)

Seriously, some people ship Jelsa on the basis that both have ice powers and happen to look alike. It’s so cliche and shallow, and some use the “opposite personalities attract” excuse to justify this ship. Like, if they were both kept in-character they would not fall in love with each other so quickly. Jack would find Eksa boring because of her pessimist attitude and she would find him annoying. Even if their relationship developed it probably won’t go so far into romance but a close friendship.

As for Jackunzel, it seems that some people ship them because they have opposite powers. For some who say “well, both have terrible parental figures so they can relate to each other” that’s a complete lie. Rapunzel was the one with the terrible parental figure. Jack’s old life shows that he had a loving mother and sister, and his new parental figures are the Guardians themselves. Pitch Black was never a father figure and only sought to manipulate Jack, not secretly take care of him. Even if he had good intentions, Pitch was still pretty self-serving and his actions would have been bad for not just for Jack but the entire world.

Speaking of the Guardians, they’re the ones who keep Jack grounded, not Elsa. The same goes for Anna, since she’s the one to bring joy back into Elsa’s life. Not Jack. To ignore Anna and the Guardians contributions to shaping their loved ones development for the sake of the pairing is wrong and a total slap in the face to both films’s message about family and platonic love. As far as I know it’s Elsa that needs to be grounded and who better to do that than her sister. You know, the sister that’s already a suitable foil for her.

That goes for Rapunzel as well. Last I checked Flynn and Cassandra were the ones to have shaped her as a person, not Jack. They get ignored too for the sake of romance. Pascal gets it the worst however as he’s stuck by her since she was a young girl yet he barely if ever appears in Jackunzel fanfics. I mentioned before that some people ship them on the grounds that both have opposite powers. He has winter powers and attributed to the Moon; she has light and healing powers attributed to the Sun. Again these do not necessarily mean that the couple could have good romantic chemistry. Also, Rapunzel is 18 (an adult) and Jack would be forever 14. Not too much of an age gap but it’s a factor that plenty of people criticize Jelsa for.

I believe Flynn and Anna gets left out because they don’t have powers, therefore they must be weak. Yeah sure Flynn is so weak he couldn’t possibly keep up with Rapunzel on her adventures. Oh Anna is such a damsel in distress, it’s not like she can scale up a mountain, fight off a pack of wolves, and put a sociopathic prince in his place by punching him off a boat. I firmly believe that Anna has super strength opposed to fire powers because her having heat powers is also cliche.

I’m not even going to go into the extreme fans. You know, the ones who beg Disney to give Elsa a Jack Frost lookalike for a love interest, or to have Jack fall in love with another nature spirit who suspiciously looks and acts like Elsa or Rapunzel. Some even wanted Disney to break up Flynn and Rapunzel to make Jackunzel canon. News Flash: That is never going to happen!

Disney and DreamWorks are rival companies; they would rather be releasing parodies mocking each other than team up to make a fanfiction canon.

Even in a fanvid or fanfic there’s a ton shit of comments complaining if that video or story don’t have Jelsa or Jackunzel in it (I especially see it in stuff where Jack is Elsa’s father or where the Jelsa/Jackunzel ships are non-existent). People who have taken so much time to creative wonderful stories gets insulted just because they don’t cater to a particular ship. I can’t believe it’s been seven years since the RotBTD begun and extremists don’t get this through their thick skulls!
