After reading TLH for the first time, i remember i was really hoping for a Jason Bourne type story arc for Jason, where he only gets his memories in fragmented and blurry flashbacks, and all they show him is violence and fights and more violence, and he absolutely hates it. He hates the person he was before, he was barely human, he was only a weapon -- and even though having all your memories stolen from you sucks, he ends up being grateful for it, because now he gets to be someone new, who knows what love and friendship feels like and doesn't have to use violence all the time.

I honestly wish we got to see Jason with his memories back or even a flashback where we get to see how he acted before he lost them

i need to stop being reminded that the seven are canonically very awkward around each other and hardly talk at all.

let me live in my sunshine rainbow world where they're all friends, are each other's 'found family,' where hazel, piper, and annabeth are best friends, where leo, jason, frank, and percy are like brothers, where jason and piper never existed, where hazel and piper were actually friends (that they should've been), and leo and percy are the most sarcastic and funny people you've ever met (and they make each other even funnier)!!!!!

This might be a hot take, but I actually like that Percy figured out Luke was the traitor at the last minute. There were A LOT of clues that would’ve been hard to ignore, and he ignored them for as long as he could. And it’s clear that even after accusing Luke, he’s still surprised and heartbroken at Luke’s confirmation of his suspicions. He was holding out hope, guys!!

Also, the Betrayal Scene flows better as an exchange of dialogue and a swordfight than it did, in the books, as a monologue and a scorpion sting. This also leaves a bigger impact on the viewers and characters because it’s more emotional.

headcanon that percy was in love with annabeth at the same time he was developing a crush on rachel. and the guilt consumed him for weeks. because he wanted to be with both of them. but felt like he was supposed to pick one. so he just never said anything to either one of them about it. and just let the chips fall. until he got older and summoned the courage to confide in annabeth about feeling like there was something wrong with him his whole life. and then annabeth just validates the shit out of his polyamorous desires. and calls rachel over so the three of them could give it a shot just for the fun of it. and it ends up being an extremely healing thing for all three of them.

yknow actually we don't utilize the whole "gods may appear differently to different people" worldbuilding thing enough for jokes. Like, with love gods like Aphrodite and Cupid (and presumably also Aphroditus, the Erotes, and etc) it's kind of inherent, but also like.

literally in TKC we have a whole interaction of Sadie going "Wow Anubis was so hot..." cause she saw him as some hot goth teen and Carter being confused as hell because he saw Anubis with a jackal head. In the same conversation.

Where's more scenes and jokes like that. There's a lot of opportunity here.

oh but it is GOOD watching percy and annabeth fall in love in real time. to see the looks on their faces as they slowly discover that they would, actually, go to the ends of the earth to protect each other. "if i have to stick with someone," percy says, and then can't bring himself to say i'd choose you, because mere days ago he expected annabeth to stab him in the back at the first opportunity, and now he trusts her more than he trusts his own father, a literal god. "i thought we don't ask for help," percy says, but of course annabeth will swallow her pride (HER FATAL FLAW!!) and ask for help if it means saving percy. annabeth has wanted a quest since she arrived at camp half-blood, and yet she tries to sacrifice herself so the quest can continue without her. percy doesn't give two shits about the gods, and yet he chooses to sacrifice himself, not for the gods, but for his friends - so annabeth doesn't have to. they have been tentative allies for like three days and already they've both decided that nothing is more important than each other. just. man oh man

Just posting this for the ppl who LOVE to push the FANON narrative that Jason and Percy aren't close friends as CANON. Grover is listed as Percy's main best friend (along with Annabeth ofc but she remains in the girlfriend category) and Jason comes literally SECOND in the Official Riordan wiki fanpage, and he's even labelled as "one of percy's best friends" not just "friend" or "close friend" like the others.

I don't get why people deny this SO bad like- pls let the almost nonexistent rivalry they both had (which is mostly between Jason and Percy fans) stay fanon.

"Jason and Percy are just co workers, barely even friends" Yup. Sure. I was so mislead by this narrative before I picked up HOO and was pleasantly surprised by how genuine percy and jason's friendship was in the books.. I half expected them both to ignore eachother or something throughout the scenes with how much the fandom exaggerated their rivalry/coldness with eachother.

Fanon is awesome. But it's not when you push it as canon. Let them be two seperate things please.

I just realized: we never actually see Kronos. We hear his voice and stuff, but we never really get an actual physical description of him. Unless we actually do, and I've just blocked it out. But if we don't, then that was a big missed opportunity. I don't like Kronos (or Luke, as is evident by my posts attesting to that), but I'd still like to know what he looks like.

nico's book should've been abt him being the traveler of camps, his father's ambassador, + harbinger of justice + balance. talked abt what nico + hades mean in the grand scheme of things multiple times

we KNOW nico has light + darkness in him + it's hard, that goes for every demigod. didn't need a whole book overwriting that metaphor. integrate it into nico's universe, show us the underworld being a second home rather than telling, the story should've been abt nico but it wasn't even if it's his own book 🤨
