A Win for the Ducks

My blood sugar on Saturday morning was up to 133. Hard to know why, except for possibly not walking enough on Friday. After our usual coffee and brain games, Nancy and I fixed breakfast with hash browns, eggs, bacon and toast.

We headed over to visit Nancy’s brother Robin at The Esther about noon. Robin’s daughter Annie was out looking for a new walker for him. Nancy’s sister Joan was there with Robin, sitting outside and enjoying some Oregon sunshine. After sitting out with them for some time, we all went in to the dining and Robin got a bit of lunch. Annie showed up during the lunch break, and then Nancy and I left a little before 2 p.m.

When we got home, we napped briefly, then Nancy and I walked 2 miles together around the neighborhood. Then we went out for pizza at Abby’s, a place we have enjoyed a couple of times. We watched some of the Oregon and Ohio State game while we ate and caught the final ten seconds from home. It was a big win for the Ducks.

After dinner we went to Costco and got gas, then did a bit of shopping for a couple of food items. I also picked up the latest Patricia Cornwell novel, “Identity Unknown.” Her last couple of books in the Kay Scarpetta series have been a little uneven, but I’ve been a fan for a long time. My dad—a lifelong mystery aficionado—turned me onto the series back near its beginning. I was pleased to find out that a TV series based on the character will be debuting sometime soon on Amazon Prime.

When we got home, we watched the last episode of the fourth season of “Slow Horses;” the seventh episode of “Shogun;” and one more “Midsomer Murders,” this one with Jenny Agutter is one of the guest roles.
