Something that I think people need to understand and remember about Henry Kissinger is the fact that he was a Man in a position of relatively little personal power, in comparison to something like say a president.

However this absolute bastard war criminal is probably responsible personally for more death heartache and pain than just about any other single human being that's ever existed.

So as we crab rave and piss on his grave, I want you all to think about and remember the positions of power we see now. Especially so in the US. Because the decisions we make do affect the lives, happiness, and well-being of people all across the world.

So I'm gonna co-opt his death for a brief second to just remind you that he didn't happen in a vacuum. His destructive and monsterous existence was not born of thin air. People helped make him. People helped give him power.

Lets not be those people again. Let's do better than the people who put these war criminals in power.

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.

Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!

AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).

Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.

All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

narumi gen is a stubborn man, no matter what he steps his foot into.

arcade dates were frequent for you both. you aren’t too surprised, but sometimes gen could get so competitive in games that he tends to forget that you’re both in the arcade to spend some quality time in the first place. (you love him nonetheless, though.)

today isn’t any different. but here’s a reminder, narumi gen is a stubborn man; and he has made it his quest to win you a cute plushie in the claw machine. despite you telling him that it’s rigged, he doesn’t really care. “gen, we could just play something else.” you said, your eyes watching the now moving claw inside the machine. gen ignores you, as his eyes are enough to tell you that he’s fully concentrated on winning you that plushie—and that you might be stuck in this area for a while.

if there’s one thing about your boyfriend, gen is a man with little to no patience. he gets frustrated easily when he doesn’t get what he wants or when he loses a game when he plays on his console. he has a huge tendency to overreact to the smallest things. so you had a hunch that he would lose his patience over this claw machine sooner or later.

…or maybe now.

you jumped at the loud noise of gen slamming his fist onto the controller. you quickly pulled him away at the poor claw machine, afraid of causing a sudden scene in such a public place. “stupid ass claw machine. why are they always rigged?” he complains, slumping. “you know, you didn’t have to waste a good quarter of your tokens just to try and get me that plushie.” you giggled, soothly rubbing his back for comfort. 

“saw you staring at it for a long while, though.” he mumbles.

“you should know that claw machines are always rigged, babe. we’re literally regulars at this place.”

“let’s go. i’ll just buy you something similar in a store.”

Let’s say that the Az BC was actually a Lucien BC. Let’s say that Lucien had a similar inner monologue during the same interactions with Elain…

…calling her ‘the third’.

…describing touching her as ‘so wrong’.

…emphasizing several times what HE needed from her body.

…claiming he hadn’t thought about a future with Elain beyond the ‘fantasies he pleasured himself to’.

…being willing to kill any other male for showing an interest in her.

Imagine Lucien’s flames becoming embers in Elain’s presence and him pointing it out too.

Imagine Lucien leaving that interaction, after calling almost kissing Elain a mistake, then immediately interacting with another female who caused his chest to spark as he imagined her reaction to receiving the gift he’d originally bought for Elain.

Honestly, even thinking about Lucien doing this gives me the biggest ick, because Lucien would NEVER even think of doing any of this to any female, let alone his mate, but…let’s just consider it.

Can you imagine anyone in the fandom trying to claim that Elain and Lucien were endgame after a BC like this? It would be SO obvious that the author is showing that Elain and Lucien are not compatible beyond their physical attraction even with a bond. No one would be able to argue that the Elucien ship had sunk.

And the way people would rip Lucien to shreds kinda like everyone did to Tamlin for thinking about Elain this way and use it as clear evidence that the bond will be rejected…Even I, a fierce Lucien supported and defender, would hate to even consider defending this kind of behavior from him.

Yes, the big difference between the two BC’s is the existence of a bond between Elain and Lucien. But that just proves my point even more because everyone would be screaming about the obvious rejected-bond foreshadowing because of his behavior.

So why is this behavior considered romantic because Azriel does it? Why does it seemingly confirm to some that Az and Elain are destined to be together? Why is this less obvious because it’s Azriel?

As a BC alone, this chapter makes it pretty clear that E/riel just doesn’t work even when they tried. If they were that compatible, Az would never have been able to stay away from Elain. This was the same guy who told Rhys to chain him to a tree and he would still rip it up to defend his loved ones. He truly believes that the cauldron was wrong and that Elain is his mate? Well, Cassian couldn’t stay away from his mate. Even while dying, he still crawled to Nesta.
