Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.
Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!
AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).
Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.
All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

Leather.
Hong Jisoo | Badboy!Jisoo | Fluff(?) | 1,594 words ↳ In which you’re in the student council and you pique the interest of the school’s resident badboy. Warning(s): None
Tumblr media
You were tucked into a secluded corner of the library, textbooks stacked in a neat pile beside the notebook you were scribbling in. The seriousness on your face, paired with how freakishly neat your desk was, gave off an intimidating vibe, causing all the other students in the library to avoid sitting with you or making any noise remotely nearby.
Which worked in your favour, really. Despite how social your role as a student council member required you to be, and seeing how you chose to join the council, you personally preferred to work alone in silence. It was easier for you to hear and sort your thoughts that way.
You were halfway through your chemistry assignment when your concentration was shattered along with the silence in the library, in the form of rambunctious laughter. Your head shot up instantly, eyes narrowed into a sharp glare as you searched for the source of the noise.
High-pitched giggling joined in, allowing you to spot the source fairly quickly. A male with cat-like eyes was standing amidst the bookshelves, two brunettes hanging off his arms as he spoke. His uniform was worn in an untidy fashion, his tie hanging loosely from his neck.
You were about to ignore them and return to your notes when another wave of laughter came from the trio. Anger sparked within you at the loudness, noticing how many students around you turned to look but did not dare to approach. The male did look intimidating despite his small build, after all.
You, on the other hand, were far from intimidated.
Deciding that you were done with studying for the day, you calmly rose from your seat and began to pack your things. Neighbouring students’ gazes shifted to your moving figure, pleading and thankful looks on their faces. Slinging your backpack over your shoulder, you pushed your chair in and made your way over.
Each step you took towards them was almost daunting in the ears of others, the clipped sound of your polished shoes meeting the ground in an almost thundering clap.
Upon catching sight of your approaching figure, Jisoo’s eyes shifted from the giggling bimbos to you. The student council pin on your collar glinted in the light, causing a snarky grin to spread on his face.
“Can I help you?” He tipped his head towards you, voice a velvety tone. If it was not for the delinquent get-up he had going on, you might have melted, but as it was, you remained unaffected by the melodic lilt of his voice.
You pressed your lips together, an unimpressed look taking over your vacant countenance as the females continued to caress his muscles flirtatiously in your presence. The male, however, had his ebony gaze pinned on you.
“You’re disrupting this conducive space. If you’re not here to study, I’ll have to ask you to leave,” you met his eyes as you spoke, unafraid to hold his gaze.
The girls exchanged nervous looks before scurrying away. He chuckled at your words, tongue darting out to wet his lips, eyeing you with interest, and not in the least bit bothered by the females fleeing.
“I don’t think so, sweetheart.” He challenged despite having no need to remain in the library, merely wanting to test the waters with you. You raised a brow at him, unamused by his response.
Reaching into your pocket, you fished out a small black leather bound book. Shifting your gaze to his name tag, you wordlessly wrote down his name and offence before tearing out a detention slip and handing it to him.
“Have fun thinking in detention, Hong.” You flashed him a sarcastic smile before turning on your heels and sauntering out of the library.
Jisoo stared after your disappearing figure, eyes shining in mild curiosity after your brief interaction.
“Interesting…” he muttered under his breath.
-
The moment the dismissal bell echoed through the hallways, students spilled out of the classrooms and rushed for the exit.
Stepping out of the double doors and into the afternoon sun, you winced slightly from the sudden brightness. Your shoes clicked against the pavement, its sound crisp and loud in the open space. Paired with the faint chirping of birds sitting atop the bare trees, it seemed to form a sort of nature song, putting a smile on your face.
Unfortunately, your good mood was short lived.
The winter breeze which caressed your skin caused you to shiver slightly, and almost immediately, something was draped over your shoulders. Seeing black leather, you spun around only to be met with a head of reddish-brown hair and a lopsided grin.
“Hello, angel face,” Jisoo greeted, ruffling his hair such that his fringe was out of his eyes. You blinked at him for a second before deciding you did not want to entertain him at all, shuddering at the greasy nickname.
Returning his words with a simple polite nod, you made to return the jacket. The male frowned at your reaction but recovered quickly, holding his hand out to halt your movements.
“Keep it. Wouldn’t want you to catch a cold, babycakes.”
Not giving you a chance to protest, he bows dramatically before leaving the scene. You could only watch as he mounted a black Ducati and sped off, throwing you a flirty grin over his shoulder as he did so.
-
With every step you took towards third-year classrooms, you felt a sense of dread creeping up your skin. There you were on the Monday after your strange encounter with Hong Jisoo, going to return the jacket to its owner. You had it dry-cleaned and folded up nicely in a marbled-printed paper bag.
Having checked on his class beforehand, you strode towards the door purposefully. You spotted him instantly, seated at the back of the classroom, surrounded by three of his friends.
Seeing as their class was on break, you wordlessly entered the room and made a beeline for his table. Jisoo looked up upon seeing an approaching figure, dark orbs lighting up in surprise upon seeing you there. His friends turned to look at you as well, curiosity clear in their eyes.
“What a surprise, sweetcheeks. Got you hooked already?” He leaned forward with a grin, earning a roll of the eyes from you. Not bothering to validate his words with an actual response, you held the paper bag out to him. Before either of you could get a word out, his friends began to tease.
“Wow. Confession from a student council member?”
“They’re really attractive too. You’re amazing, Jisoo.”
Under normal circumstances, you would have just glared at them. However, you were surrounded by Jisoo’s classmates, who were now watching the scene unfold since his friends were not exactly silent in their comments, and that left you feeling more uncomfortable than anything.
Unbeknownst to you, Jisoo — though he remained silent with a smug grin on his face — picked up on how you felt. The male made a big show of rising from his seat before taking the bag from you.
“Let’s take this somewhere more private,” he flashed you a flirty wink as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, guiding you out of his classroom, away from prying eyes. You remained silent, watching the male intently as he merely stared ahead, bringing you to an empty hallway.
Once you were alone, you shrugged his arm off and nodded towards the paper bag hanging loosely from his fingers.
“Your jacket,” you explained simply. Jisoo chuckled as he opened the bag to take the item in question out.
“You could have just kept it to wear,” he muttered before looking up to look right into your eyes, a greasy smile on his face. “Then I’d be able to say you’re mine, sweetheart.”
You scoffed at that, though a light pink hue dusted your cheeks at his words.
“You know, I had to go through morning lectures freezing my butt off because you had my jacket,” he spoke up again. You frowned upon hearing that, feeling slightly bad. You began to apologise, but was cut off by him. “You owe me.”
Your eyebrows shot to your hairline, taken aback by his accusation. He chuckled at your expression before shrugging on his jacket.
“Let me take you out on a date after school,” he proposed, though from the tone of his voice, you knew that it was not really up for discussion. You were about to reject him, knowing what kind of reputation the male had. Sensing your hesitation, he shot you a reassuring smile. “Just one date. You’ve got nothing to worry about. I promise.”
And despite whatever the rational part of your brain told you, there was a faint voice in the back of your mind telling you to trust him. So you did.
“Okay.” He grinned at your response, the genuine emotion in his eyes causing your lips to lift into a small smile of your own. The serene moment between the two of you was broken by the shrill sound of the school bell, indicating that break was over.
You gave him a polite nod before walking away and the male made no move to stop you. It was only when you had already begun to descend the stairs that he called after you with a playful smirk.
“See you later, baby!”
You felt your ears go warm at the feeling of many eyes turning to you, mentally cursing Jisoo out in your head as you attempted to ignore the gazes, picking up your pace.
