I finished that dressup game I said I was working on !! would very appreciate people giving it a go because I spent literally a week on this. like 7 days off work doing nothing but drawing clothes lmao

in order to make the different body types work without ballooning up the file size way more than it already is, I had to make it so you choose your skin tone twice. in meiker you can't arrange the order elements appear in, but I recommend starting with these two options to pick out your body type and skin tone first, since some options look better on certain bodies imo

also !! meiker !! I don't hear people talk about it much, but it's really cool I like it a lot! it's like picrew, but instead of uploading a bunch of pngs, you arrange and label your layers in folders and upload a single psd file. personally I liked the process a lot more than picrew because I'd rather work with one big file than a million tiny image files, but that's just me. plus you can make the images bigger than you can on picrew too

also posting this again since I can attach it to a post with the game, but I made a tutorial on how to create a bunch of colour options super fast if you want to make your own dressup game. there's no way I'd have nearly as many options if I didn't know how to do this. once you understand the actions feature you can do so much stuff so much more efficiently it's insane it's like my favourite photoshop feature

Yes, even if you're neurodivergent. I don't have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.

Things can be easier. You might always have a disability around this (I certainly always will), but it can be easier. You do not have to be this stuck forever.

I don’t want to reblog or repost it to mock it because i know OP’s heart was in the right place but i just saw a post about how to overcome executive dysfunction, basically the point being how to practice discipline and gain mental fortitude and that it’s possible for anyone. nice! but it contained a list of suggested activities that included video games three times, suggested listening to “long form audio content such as podcasts and audiobooks”, and suspiciously entirely omitted things like…reading a book, setting small goals for chores and housekeeping, and anything else that’s actually tangibly beneficial to the stated goal. the post suggested playing picrews and dress up games

Hey so like, over the past month or so, I've been hit by about 500 new followers, which is a very sudden, massive spike, and while I'm sure most of them are bots, I really can't be sure which are and which aren't.

To this end, if you see this and you have a mostly empty blog, PLEASE, I'm begging you, please make your blog not empty somehow so I can tell if you're a real person, otherwise you do run the very real risk of me blocking and reporting you for being a bot, because I really really don't want bots taking advantage of this blog.

Anywhere here's a short list of things you can do to make yourself not look like a bot:

Change your icon. It can literally be anything. Modify the default icon somehow, use a screenshot from whatever show you like, take a picture of your carpet and use that, use some art. Anything. (Although I'd advise against anything that might make you look like the other kind of bot blog.)

PLEASE change your title. I have now learned what "Untitled" looks like in many other languages. A change in title and maybe even description will go a very long way !!!!!

Change the color of your in dashboard blog from the basic white background. (In edit appearance.) Set a blog header image. (If you really don't have any images in mind, this blog is full of images. Pick anything.)

Turn on custom theme in the blog settings!! This didn't even used to be an option and was enabled by default and now it isn't.

Hide your likes and follows. Most bot blogs don't hide these. Unfortunately most newcomers don't hide them either.

Reblog or post a few things. It can literally be "im a lurker sorry please dont block me". A good thing to keep in mind is to try to reblog things that aren't related or are specifically fandom related. Bots don't do that, but I have seen bots that will reblog three (3) related posts or like three (3) related posts (from people they don't even follow) and that's that. If you do ONLY this, that's enough.

You don't have to do all of these. Literally even a few is enough. Just show some sign of life. PLEASE.

I just had the most mind blowing realisation, I can literally just make my own site for everything. If I don't like, or find the formatting of popular sites too restrictive, I can literally just make my own (better) version.

Like Picrew for example. It's cool that they've made it easier for people to make their own dress up style games, but I've had problems trying to work with it. The biggest being the parts/image limit, and the particular naming convention. But I can write html+css now, I can just make my own image maker, without any of these restrictions.

And since the current picrew system doesn't allow for any text (unless you put it as an image, which is meh), it meant I had to make a separate doc listing everything. But if I make my own site, I can just add labels to everything, I don't need 2 separate pages.

I wonder how many months it'll take me to complete this lol.

@aguyinthepubliceye and I called this afternoon! A while ago I got dumped by my school friend group and asked Mischa if him and I could do something special to celebrate my graduation and of course he said yes because he’s amazing. So that’s what we did today!

We both got dressed up, I wore something very similar to my prom outfit and he got all nice and fancy

And then his computer decided to stop working

So the call stopped for a couple minutes as he figured that out

When he did we moved onto sushi restaurant conveyer game where you literally just sit down and eat sushi, which is funny because neither of us like sushi

We were going around sitting down and eating other peoples food, which was fun

And it got funny when @rubeslovesthesmiths messaged in the gc that we have that he thinks we’re cool and I said to Mischa, “if only he knew what we were playing”

My mom came in soon after that to tell me supper was ready and, since she knew what we were doing and that we were dressing up, told me she wanted to see Mischas outfit

Which was a nice shirt and at this point the skirt had been replaced with some pyjama pants

(Also on the way back from the movie my family went to see this afternoon my mom asked, “when’s your date with Mischa?” Which I never really considered but I guess it was a date)

HIII and sure!! i'll walk you through it and if you have any specific questions you can just ask!

i usually find that sticking to a theme is what helps me. once you have it, it's nice to think on how to incorporate it into the design. if the theme is, let's say, cherry, you can deconstruct it in your head to what it is visually - different shades of red, round, shiny, sour-sweet. maybe you want them to have cherry shaped hairstyle, two buns? silky dark red dress? think of the cherry flowers, maybe you can make pink or white flowers as jewelry? maybe the style can be sweet- something cute and light or maybe it can be sour- rockstar type? same goes for fandom characters! take notice of how others look, is there a pattern to their design? see what makes them special and try to find your original idea to fit in the "design rules" you've been presented with! having a personality in your head helps too! you can pick a style you think reflects them and then if you can't think of any clothing or hairstyle at the top of your head you can browse magazines or pinterest for inspiration (or literally even shopping sites. or take pictures of mannequins from the store. or look up some band you like. when i was little my favorite game to play with friends would be to take picture of some clothes we found and challenge each other to draw our ocs in it) . you don't have to draw exactly what you see, you can play with the patterns and colors and length! same goes for hairstyles! world's your oyster when you get into it, at some point you just memorize everything like a picrew in your mind, press random and it's done. like with art, the more you practice, the easier it gets!

I decided to come back and show y’all my OC who I’ll use while playing Our life now&forever!

Soo first I should warn you that there will be mild mentions of mental health issues and SH‼️ If these things trigger you, please skip my STEP 2 text or do not read this at all. It isn’t anything big, but I don’t want anyone to feel anxious while reading this🫶

Here it starts (I apologize for any grammar mistakes, English is not my first language)

Her name is Rosemary Salmonbay and some might say her surname is silly, but it’s a literal translation of my own surname! I love it, hehe. So, Rosemary is heavily inspired of my own life and almost just me. I made Rosemary a long time ago to make little stories that were inspired of my life and just as a way to cope. But she’s not 100% me either, because that would make me feel uncomfortable lmao.

STEP 1:

Rosemary is an awkward, shy and silly kid. An outcast, kind of. She’s very into anime, games and drawing. At first not very talkative and finds new people scary, but once you get closer to her she becomes very loud and energetic.

Rosemary enjoys playing outside with dolls, especially Monster High dolls and even dressing up as these characters. She likes drawing them a lot and making new outfits for them. Usually her doll plays are enspired by the games and animes she enjoyed.

She liked games that many other kids didn’t back then, such as Ib. Animes she watched were Ouran High School Host Club and Death Note.

As you can notice from the picture, she didn’t have much fashion sense because she just wore whatever felt comfortable and looked cool. Shirts with Mickey Mouse, Youtube merch and galaxy print.

Rosemary has tried many sports to have at least one hobbie, but nothing really fit her. Football was her favorite though. Rosemary was more into videogames and YouTube.

Moving to a new place made her very nervous but hopeful that she would make friends who wouldn’t judge her too much.

Rosemary gets called Rose, Rosie, Roses, etc. So many different nicknames and sometimes it annoys her, but doesn’t really stop anyone. She’s a bit bigger than other kids, which always made her feel embarrassed. A bit taller than most kids and didn’t like her tummy:(

STEP 2:

These years were the hardest for Rosemary, because she was very lost, didn’t know who was her true friends and even has some issues with her mother. But mostly Rosemary battles with herself during this time.

Now, Rosemary tries her best to stay away from any spotlight and has only few close friends. She doesn’t want any conflicts, so she has a hard time choosing sides whenever a classmates would have drama.

Rosemary’s escape is music and dancing now. She’s very into K-pop and J-pop during this time and has kind of dropped her old gamer and anime loving self. Though, she still misses those times when it was okay for her to be ”cringe”.

Her mental health declines rather harshly, even making her harm herself in certain ways to relieve overwhelming emotions. She usually regrets doing it afterwards, because it’s hard to hide and it makes her vulnerable.

Even though Rosemary says that she isn’t trying to fit in and is genuinely herself, it’s most likely a lie. She indeed is just trying to somehow fit in and make others happy. Rosemary starts wearing clothes that show off her body more in hopes of making herself like the cool girls and tries to learn makeup.

Rosemary gets more into studying herself and understand that maybe, just maybe this isn’t truly her. So, in subtle ways she tries to show her true self (such as jewelry). Rosemary accepted herself as pansexual/romantic already when she was 12, but for a long while she questions her gender. Being a girl feels right but also empty, being a boy is too much for her and nonbinary isn’t right either. But, she tries to ignore it.

She’s still rather chubby and hates it. It causes her to wear more ’boring’ clothes, because she thinks they won’t show others her bigger body. Rosemary only accepts Rose nickname during this time.

STEP 3:

Everything kind of starts making sense now. Rosemary is gaining confidence and got professional help for her problems. She accepts her actual style and doesn’t wear ’boring’ clothes anymore.

She’s still awkward and kind of anti-social, but tries her best and is more laid-back now. Rosemary only goes with her kind of people now and won’t force herself to fit in.

They also got back into gaming, anime and even started cosplaying sometimes! They still sometimes listen to K-pop and J-pop but more for nostalgia and during rough times. They’re also into makeup and fashion now, especially fashion styles from Japan.

Did you notice how I used they pronoun for Rosemary? Well, they finally realized and accepted themself as a demigirl! Rosemary prefers she/they pronouns but doesn’t really care if anyone uses he.

Rosemary isn’t entirely happy with her body still and also feels kind of lost, but is slowly and surely getting better. She’s trying to live healthy now, not working out to lose weight but to love her body no matter how chubby she was.

A bit more confident in themself, but still has ways to go and a lot to learn. They aren’t 100% certain what they want to do in the future, but have some ideas.

That was all I have for her now! I haven’t made one for Step 4 yet, but I’ll work on it. I’ll probably post more about her as well and maybe change some things. This is kind of like a first draft, but I doubt I’ll change anything drastically.

I know thay sounds harsh, but I don't think that a community of writers and ppl who love stories would be supporting with an if written by so so why are we supporting uses of ai art? Ultimately, you're ending up using a tool of theft from creatives just like you. Wouldn't it be easier to just use anything else? A picrew, the thousands of dress up games roaming the Internet, draw it yourself or even don't have art at all. Put out a description and let the artists who read your story bring forth interpretation after interpretation.

I can't physically stop anyone from doing anything, but if I suspect AI art is rearing it's head I'll respectfully ask just for clarification and just not support that IF. And if there's no response, I'll just not support it anyways cause I've yet to be wrong with my sixth sense. That's just my take though, but it's mostly aimed towards use of newer ai tools.

hey, thanks for weighing in. i didn't get much response to that post, but I have had some conversations about this and have pretty much ended up in the same place as you seem to be: assume the best, respectfully ask them to reconsider, and avoid or support accordingly. I like your comparison to AI writing, and you're absolutely right. my assumption is that many people aren't all that aware of how AI art is stealing. I know I have seen plenty of posts on the subject on tumblr, but considering how the whole point of this site is to curate your own experience, I can see how it wouldn't be as common of a discussion topic for everyone.

not that ignorance makes it OK, of course, but it does make me a little more hopeful that the writers might be responsive to feedback about it. now to come up with a general statement so I don't spiral into anxiety every time I need to do that second step..

About Me and My Writing

Hi, you can call me Kit (or Decay or Sol or w/e floats thine boat). I'm in my late twenties, my pronouns are she/her. I am both queer myself and obviously queer friendly. I'm not always consistently around due to both some environmental circumstances and personal struggles (it's the mental illness).

My writing style is third person present tense. I do have the ability to write in past tense if present tense bothers you. I can write anywhere from 200 words to about 3,000 (I don't measure in paragraphs as I play a little fast and loose with the definition of "paragraph" aksjdfhg).

While I don't expect you to mirror/length-match me, I am asking for someone who is comfortable writing detailed, literate posts. Not every post has to be 800w, I often dip low in my word count during dialogue heavy scenes. And I'm not asking for perfect spelling every time, lord knows I have a myriad of typos and I don't re-read my posts when I get excited. But I'm asking for the basics. Knowing that the game (and thus the city) is Baldur's Gate, not Baulder's Gate, would be a good start.

I have not finished Baldur's Gate 3. I am mid-Act Three on a normal Tav run, and haven't even gotten to the Goblin Camp on my Durge run. I am kindly requesting no spoilers, and we can discuss where each of us are in the game to better know what that means.

The Rules

Since I'm in my late-late twenties, I'm looking for someone who is at least 21 themselves, but it'd be even better if you were 23+

In this house we double. If you don't know what doubling means, it means that I write both my character and who you want me to write for you, and you write your character and who I want you to write for me.

I don't want to see memes about it, I don't want to write about it. Nothing. I also am not wild about sexual assault*, or the community's standard limits list of: pedophilia, incest, bestiality, etc. Leave all of that at the door, thank you. Rule number one of the salon is don't be nasty and you know that! *Regarding SA: Now obviously with BG3, that's a huge part of Astarion's background. And I'm not looking to erase that - I just don't want to glorify it, or romanticize it or fetishize it or any of that shit. And I'd rather not write like the assault itself, y'know? They can talk about it - I want them to talk about it! I want Astarion to heal and to overcome what's happened (or learn what overcoming it looks like to him) and to find himself, but I don't want to engage with assault kink. If you're coming at it from a kink point of view, skedaddle. shoo. get out of here.

The mediums I use are: Discord, Email, and Gdocs (though with their AI scraping we should probably find somewhere else. I'm not keen on writing here on tumblr, but I'd be happy to idk, make a private Proboard or something?)

New rule: Please do not show me AI art of your character. Don't use an AI generator about it if you plan to write with me. Find a picrew or a dress up doll or some random picture on Pinterest. Hell just give me a paragraph description if you have to.

Alternate Universe

I'm reeeeaalllyyy vibing with AUs at the moment. I think it's the ✨Holiday Vibes✨ aksjdfg. I'd love to do - honestly a wide variety of AUs! If you have something in mind, please feel free to mention it! The one I've been thinking about though is some sort of low-modern mid/high-fantasy thing where Gale is a professor at some wizard school? O///O I saw some art where he was a professor by day and a chess streamer on twitch by night? Which was pretty cute alwksjdfhg But I'd also love like some like Holiday-y cheesy romcom tropes if we're vibing. I love stuff like fake dating/fake engagement/fake marriage, that's easily my favorite. Shit like oh no now there's a storm, and no flights, and they can't leave... whatever will they do... how tragic. Only one bed type shit. I loooove slice of life, I also love stealing the plots of other media to use as AU skeletons! Like The Holiday or The Proposal, You've Got Mail, She Loves Me (the musical), whatever! I've got a whole list of these and a few other cheesy prompts if you're interested in something festive and romcom-y! I also love fantasy if we want to put these characters in a fantasy AU that's distinct from the game itself alsdhf

Self Indulgent Pre-Established (sort of) Bullshit!

Now I know a lot of people tend to see the term pre-established and cringe or in general think it’s boring. But wait, don’t scroll by! First of all, I don’t mean they were already like super together and had had a full character arc and everything prior to the roleplay ever starting. By pre-established I just mean that they knew each other. Second of all, remember what I said about cringe? It’s dead baby! Bury the coffin and move on! I’ve got an AU that I’m growing fonder of by the day, where my Tav has known Gale since they were teenagers (having attended Blackstaff together). They’re best friends and have been for decades at this point, and unbeknownst to Gale, my Tav has been in love with him since their days at academy. But his friendship means more to her than anything, so she’s never brought it up. Especially not when he was dating other people and later Mystra. She’s always been supportive and just quietly, quietly pines in the background. When he returns to Waterdeep after the netherese orb embedded itself in his chest and Mystra broke it off with him, after not seeing him for a while (since he’d been off with Mystra and later looking for the orb itself) she shows up to help him through this dark period in his life, and to help him find a cure. Gale is someone the game clearly writes with depression and something akin to (if not outright) suicidal ideation, and journeys of healing are narratives that I really really enjoy and cherish. So this would obviously be a lot of healing and then sweet sweet pining because like. Yearning, yanno? This sounds, as I write it out, like I can fix him fic and like I guess it’s not not that but? It’s more about giving Gale the tools to fix himself.  Listen. I’m not explaining it good. But we’re all depressed queers in this Chili’s tonight, are we not? My depressed queers get it. We wanna see these bitches get some therapy! And learn to recognize their support groups! Even if that support group is your one school friend and your cat. You gotta start somewhere. This can be a pre-game thing if you want to later move into the game’s plot, or we don’t even have to touch the game’s plot. I am happy as a clam to just party on with Gale’s personal quest and figure out an alternative solution to the orb.  I also recognize this is disgustingly self indulgent, but what is roleplay if not the wish fulfillment hobby? Naturally, in return, I am happy to write whatever self indulgent AU you are after!

Tadpoles, Gods, The Absolute: Oh my! (The Game)

I am more than happy to just shove both of our Tavs in the game and go from there! Especially since it’s what I’m currently interacting with, and that makes it something I’m thinking about all the time. We can craft companion quests for our Tavs, and we can pick a point in the game to drop them in if that’s your cup of tea! We can go as laissez faire or as hardcore mechanic about it as you like. Whether it’s just loosely following the plot or like sharing class builds and shit, I’m down for either! But know at the end of the day I’m one of those people who believe if the rules of Dungeons and Dragons are prohibiting fun, then it’s time to throw them out (like that old rule about all Tieflings being evil or some shit. Or how they can only be a limited amount of colors. Boring. Stupid. Where’s the joy, WOTC? Where is it.)
