Try it once. If you really don't enjoy it no one will force you to keep calling. It's all from your own computer. They train you. There are scripts to follow. You don't HAVE to call the entire two hours if you don't want to. Also, you can stop and take breaks at any moment.

Joe Biden has dropped out of the race. It most likely will be Kamala Harris as the nominee since he has endorsed her however there is still the chance of an open primary.

If Kamala is the nominee, I don't want to hear anything about her being a former DA or anything else. Those calling for Biden to drop out got what they wanted. The choice is now no longer between two 'olds'. The choice is now between Trump and whoever the Democrats choose for the nominee. And whoever that nominee is, the Democrats have to be behind them 100%.

Friendly reminder: The Democrats weren't behind Carter 100% in the 1980 election, which was one of the many reasons we got Reagan. And Reagan didn't come with the looming threat of Project 2025 and Plan 47 (or whatever it calls itself).

Side note: I don't fault Biden for stepping down. The man is 81 years old and is recovering from COVID. He even said in 2020 that he would be a transitional candidate.

Remember what is at stake in November. Remember that no matter what Trump claims about not knowing anything about Project 2025, he has met with members of the Heritage Foundation who are the ones behind 2025. Remember that Trump's team wants you not to vote (considering he and the RNC are suing Michigan gov Gretchen Whitmer for signing veterans up to vote when they go to visit the VA in Michigan.)

Hold your nose and vote Blue in November (or if you can vote earlier than that).

Did phone banking training yesterday, and made my first calls!

I only managed a few calls before I had to leave for a pre-planned engagement, and I'm still a bit uncomfortable with the process, but it feels a lot less daunting now.

I plan to make more calls today, and every day through Election Day (or until there are no more people to call).

I'd also urge other Americans to volunteer to do so if you haven't already, especially if you're living abroad and don't know how to help (in that case try Democrats Abroad).

Two things that invalidate your ballot, you fucking boomer rage monsters: taking a picture of it, and scribbling on your opponents' name until you tear it like it's a high school yearbook.

(full disclosure: there are teams of people at election offices whose job it is to read every ballot that the machine does not take and "determine intent:" in other words, we could probably guess who they're actually voting for, unless we get one so damaged it gets turned over to senior officials.

Any other country in the world would determine this is invalid as fuck, tho.)

Even if you can't volunteer or donate, you can help by sharing posts with information on how to volunteer, donate, and vote (make sure it's not misinformation) so that they are viewed as widely as possible.

It's easy! They train you. They have a dialing app online. You don't touch your phone. (You do need to download the free Zoom app, but after the pandemic, most everyone has that.)

A laptop or computer works better than a smartphone because of the screen size. It's all onscreen, no dialing. There are scripts. You just click and talk. You see many other volunteers in the Zoom meeting. It will give you hope.
