A random vent about rich people (millionaires and above). I don't think I would hate them so much if they weren't so BORING.
Like space travel? Really? That's all your unimaginative little brain could come up with?
Besides the usual anger about one singular billionaire being able to solve hunger and homelessness in the US...
Bring back eccentricity. Like at this point, they're all just the same person in a different font. Ugly McMansions, uglier swimming pools, cars cars cars, and oh, that notorious private jet that TSwift has. They all collect famous paintings which, again, boring AF. Look at meeeee I'm such an art connoisseur *rolls eyes so hard it gives me an eye spasm*
If I had that kind of money, I'd have so many random hobby rooms and themed rooms.
I'd have one room dedicated to tea. Just tea. A wall full of various teas from all over the world. And then another room full of tea holders. Tea cups. Tea pots. Antique porcelain tea and saucer sets. A traditional Korean tea set up, with the wooden octagonal tables that have najeon chilgi (inlaid mother of pearl).
And because we don't discriminate in this household, another room for coffee! Coffee mugs GALORE.
I'd sponsor so many starving artists for the sole purpose of bringing me joy with their crafts. Forget Picasso, I want someone who makes the snarkiest coffee mugs.
A room for writing. With a fancy writing desk and the coolest stationaries and SO MANY FOUNTAIN PENS.
I would spend hours hand writing a letter to a random person, along with a check for $10,000 and hope both the letter/money will help make a difference in their life.
TL;DR rich people don't do enough to spread joy and too much hoarding.

Hey. Hey you.
It's okay to be a Loser. There's nothing wrong with being a Loser. Think about how many Loser types we simp over in fandom? Like, so many. We cringe for them but we also love them as characters.
I own my embarrassment at this point.
I am awkward and ignorant about things that are common knowledge to most people. That's okay.
I don't have to be cool. I don't get paid to be cool or even pretend to be cool.
Trust me, once you stop pretending and be who you are - flaws, scratches, and all - there's a lot less pressure.
I read a quote recently (sorry can't find OP or else I would credit) that fandoms pop up when shows are imperfect. That there's much more to be said and create about when perfection does not exist.
Be someone a fandom would write fics about. Lovingly.
y’all remind yourselves your account is your space. you’re not a performance. you’re not annoying by being yourself. if people aren’t into it they can leave. you’re not obligated to please anyone, especially at the cost of your personal expression. the worst thing you can do for your online enjoyment is to filter or censor yourself.

IN HONOR OF ALL THE VICTIMS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES TO THE ISRAEL PALESTINE WAR
The Lost Child
In fields of battle scarred and torn,
Where death and destruction reign supreme,
A young girl weeps for her lost form,
Her innocence forever claimed by fate's extreme.
Her eyes once bright with hope and dreams,
Now dimmed by tears and endless screams,
She wanders through the bloody scene,
Searching for a glimmer of serene.
Her heart once full of laughter and cheer,
Now heavy with grief and fear,
She carries on with steady pace,
Through the chaos of this endless race.
Her body weak from hunger and pain,
Her spirit worn by constant strain,
But still she holds onto life,
With every breath, a will to thrive.
For in her eyes, a fire burns bright,
A flame that flickers with each new light,
And though her world may be undone,
She knows she is not alone.
In this desolate landscape of despair,
She finds solace in her own prayer,
A whispered plea for peace and grace,
That echoes through the empty space

Sometimes, low empathy can be an abstract concept so let me explain *my* version (I don't claim to speak for everyone, this is how I experience it).
I can't stand most people. At all. The Thanos snap moment? I was like, okay. And... what's so bad about half the population going away in a fictional world?
People crying also... doesn't make me feel much. Even children. (I also really don't like babies.) In fact, it makes me uncomfortable when people cry in front of me. I also don't like hugging people so, I don't want to comfort them that way. I don't understand why people cry in certain situations and, even after I've lost my senior dog, I don't process grief the same way.
I'm estranged from my mother and have been for years. If I got word that she died, well... I can tell you, I wouldn't care. While I did cry when Mignon was sick and eventually died, I don't cry for his loss now. He's gone. He has a good life with me. There's nothing I can do about that?
But all the above really is separate from my ethical values. I believe what is happening in Gaza is wrong and atrocious. Real life genocide is actually horrific and something that everyone should be concerned about, over Thanos or any other fictional character. Despite not liking babies at all - I think it is immoral that they're being injured and killed in Gaza.
Was this post an "excuse" to talk about Gaza? Maybe. But it's on my mind all the time. Especially the family I've been in touch with.
Anyway. Just... Some thoughts.
Autistic spaces are getting so much more hostile towards people with low empathy, and it sucks
There was a subreddit I really liked, people were chill, and then there was a sudden influx of people making posts like ‘Autistic people have empathy! Saying we don’t makes us seem like monsters! Thats not a symptom!’ And people making posts explaining that no, actually, some of us do have low empathy got attacked and told they were wrong or ableist? And it sucks, because its just so hard to find a place to exist where you can be seen as not evil? I don’t know, it just hurts a lot to be told that

I am unabashedly enthusiastic about the love I have for my friends. TW below for friend loss and grief.
I've lost one too many in the past few years, being 36 years old, and one of my biggest regrets was losing them before I could let them know they were treasured and appreciated.
Doubled down because it just happened again last year and one of our last messages was of him asking to have dinner sometime. I got busy and overwhelmed with my own shitty life. And then he was no longer there, unexpectedly. We never got to eat that dinner.
Meanwhile, I send wholesome "thank you for always being there for me" messages to my older brother, who promptly "thumbs up" reacts to all the messages. Then sends a pic of him sticking his finger up his nose. 😑
Anyway. Express your love freely, friends included.
honestly, the radicalizing event that made me ditch faux-ironic detachment is when I sent a hard-to-write sentimental message to someone I was (at the time) close with, and they sent the vomiting emoji back. it was like oh okay, that sucks. I am now of the opinion that it is 100x cooler and braver to be sappy with the people you care about.

*cracks knuckles* I have been summoned because I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO WRITE THIS ESSAY ABOUT THE EROSION OF TRUST BETWEEN HUMANS AS A RESULT OF UNETHICAL MANIPULATION OF TECHNOLOGY.
Sorry, are you still here after the all-caps? Anyways.
I have a theory that society is becoming more demanding for "evidence" as a currency of trust. Instead of figuring out better when humans lie to each other.
It starts like this.
Before film photography, one had to draw or paint or manually sketch anything. So any newspaper story had an accompanying drawing and people trusted that to be accurate and a reflection of the story. Making sense so far?
But then, film photography was invented. Especially as it became more advanced and faster, actually useful for journalism - as the young kids say : pics or it didn't happen. Which is fine, in and of itself. However... Enter photo editing.
Everyone now knows that Photoshop can manipulate anything into looking real.
Of course, with video technology, it gets "worse" so to speak. We are at the point where things have to be live streamed in order to believe that they're happening. And sometimes, it still doesn't matter and people ignore it or pretend like it's exaggerated (Gaza).
The final boss is AI.
HOWEVER. In all 3 examples, it's still the human doing the corrupting.
There's nothing inherently wrong with photo editing, video editing, or AI in art.
It's how humans use it to lie and scam and cheat. A malicious Photoshop of a celebrity, exaggerated ones as well to hide our flaws, manipulated video footage, the list goes on.
Back to the trust issue.
I harp about ethics a lot but having ethical consumption and use of technology would have helped *build* that trust between humans instead of degrading it, like OP says.
For example, requiring a symbol on all edited images. Same with video footage having an editing watermark. Same for AI.
But in the capitalistic hellscape of today, the name of the game has always been corporate profit so...
Sigh.
there's a lot to hate but i think my least favourite thing about AI generated images is that now every time i see a really cool artwork on the internet, instead of childlike wonder i experience suspicion
