Puppet History Trailer Breakdown
The PH season seven trailer dropped on Watcher TV today and I'm going to try to break it down New Rockstars style - so settle in because this is a long one!
disclaimer: I am an oxymoron of a human who notices lots of details and misses other clues - so I might not have caught everything but I tried!
[s7 trailer easter eggs and spoiler-y thoughts under the cut]
The trailer opens with the Professor looking at the billboard for Phorgedytol, the tagline of which reads "(something) WITH YOUR BRAIN"
[note: this is different to the Phorgedytol billboard we see at the end of the trailer that reads "FRENCH THE VOID!"]
the first shot of Ryan in the trailer is from the episode with Aria Inthavong
behind them on the bookshelf you can see what I think is a brachiosaurus (from the late Jurassic era), a pair of alpacas, and the Genie lamp very prominently displayed!
then we cut to this interaction Ryan: How long has it been since we've been in class? to which the Professor gives a very non-committal "Uhhhh...."
[Interesting, no? Possible side-effect of the Professor taking Phorgedytol maybe?]
then we cut to guest Alex Song-Xia with a possibly foreboding comment
[this probably has no lore implications but I like that there's a framed copy of this photo that Ryan tweeted in 2021 on the set]
the trailer continues with the Professor talking to the guests
then the trailer cuts to what could be a major lore drop with Ryan saying, "You keep my wife's name out of your god damn mouth!" as he marches to the theater to slap the Professor
[notice how this is in black and white -that's the trailer edit not mine- so perhaps this is a flashback of some kind? Maybe to something that happened to make the Professor want to take Phorgedytol?]
Remember in s6 Ryan and the Professor were friends (see: the JC Penney photoshoot) so seeing a moment like this in the trailer is, for lack of a better phrase, a slap in the face
Based on what all the guests are wearing in the trailer it looks like The Slap will happen in Claudia's episode, based on the shot right before Ryan gets out of the chair (their reaction face is gorgeous btw)
we get a great out of context line from Sara Rubin
and the Professor talking about his anatomy with Brennan
Then the Lore Drop Hits
[yeah the rest of this was just a drop in the bucket in this trailer tbh]
The cuts happen fairly fast with overlapping VO - I posted most of the main shots earlier and there are some shots of the history skits that I skipped to focus on the Lore. These shots also have some alt descriptions in this post of things I noticed on the rewatch
VO Script Mysterious Puppet: No, you louse. You sops. You absolute men. Ryan: Well, this is collusion. They clearly- Professor: That's not collusion. Ryan: It's collusion! You guys fucking figured it out before this. Brennan: Just get on his wavelength, man. Professor: Get on my level! Ryan: You're just not ready for the truth!
[First reactions: The Professor is wearing a party hat for a lot of this trailer, and so is the new puppet. So they must have been at the same party. Also, the Professor is standing in front of a sign that reads "Six Nasty Seasons" even though this is the trailer for season seven. Is that from the season six wrap party? Could it also point to Phorgedytol symptoms that we're 'missing' a season?
The horse puppet looking through the door has a moustache, so is very likely not Dorothy Ruth or Stanley Melvin Murphy. Maybe DR's fiancé? This same moustachio'd horse is in the pasta scene
Hard to say which horse is walking towards The Brown Derby but fun to note that was a real chain of restaurants in LA starting in 1926]
Then the Professor meets with the new Shane character - shall we call them Patch for now?
and that's the trailer in a nutshell!
*Roll End Credits*
Other reactions:
Delighted that we get canon confirmation that the Professor goes by Connie McNasty, at least some of the time
Love that Joyce and Garrett are back this season!
The noir, old Hollywood vibes of this trailer are gorgeous and overall it looks really well-made!
I hope we get some explanation for the slap that's not Ryan and the Professor becoming enemies again
the Liza Minelli* of it all
Not too sure on many theories at this point, but I'm sure it's going to be a great (but maybe nail-biting) season!

House Episode Master List
Here is my recommended house episodes my credentials are that I have watched house 3 times and the episodes that I remember are worth it and the ones I don't after 3 times must be bad. If you are really bored you can watch them all; you can play spot the celebrity. I was going to describe them all but that's pretty spoiler-y so I will not......
Season 1
S1.E1 - Pilot
Classic. You can see how baby Wilson is in the beginning.
I actually don't remember season 1 too much. You can just watch the whole season to get a sense of the house cast. I don't care much for the Volger subplot; he's just House's villian.
If you want to speed run it: S1.E5 / S1.E8 / S1.E10
S1.E21 - Three Stories
Fun episode
Season 2
S2.E1 - Acceptance
Gotta watch the first episode of every season I guess
S2.E5 - Daddy's Boy
I admit I don't remember this episode but some House backstory for you.
S2.E6 - Spin
Making you watch an episode for a crumb of Hilson
S2. E7 - Hunting
Gaydar
(I skipped a lot of episodes; House has a arc with his ex and I don't care. There may be some Hilson sprinkled in)
S2.E14 - Sex Kills
Hilson at the end
S2.E15 - Clueless
Hilson
S2.E16 - Safe
Oh good more Hilson
S2.E17 - All In
Fun episode where they play poker
S2.E18 - Sleeping Dogs Lie
Ok this episodes kinda funny at the end
S2.E19 - House vs. God
Cute Hilson moment also some Wilson lore
If you want to find out why I hate Foreman feel free to watch S2.E20 & S2.E21
S2.E22 - Forever
Sure. This episode could be hilson if you squint.
Season 3
S3.E1 - Meaning
First episode of the season babyyyy
S3.E2 - Cane and Able
S3.E4 - Lines in the Sand
S3.E5 - Fools for Love
S3.E6 - Que Sera Sera
S3.E7 - Son of Coma Guy
Oh I like this episode. Good hilson and a fun case.
S3.E8 - Whac-A-Mole
Start of Hilson drama
S3.E9 - Finding Judas
S3.E10 - Merry Little Christmas
S3.E11 - Words and Deeds
S3.E15 - Half-Wit
S3.E21 - Family
S3.E22 - Resignation
ngl I don't remember this one but the wiki says hilson so on the list it goes
Season 4
S4.E1 - Alone
S4.E2 - The Right Stuff
S4.E3 - 97 Seconds
House does a little game show type of game to hire a new team; if you like it keep watching if you find it boring go ahead and skip. Olivia Wilde is in them and she's hot so I find them fun.
S4.E4 - Guardian Angels
S4.E5 - Mirror Mirror
Hilson; don't blink or you'll miss it.
S4.E8 - You Don't Want to Know
I will make you watch this episode for the tiniest bit of Hilson
S4.E9 - Games
Hey it's that guy
S4.E10 - It's a Wonderful Lie
S4.E11 - Frozen
S4.E12 - Don't Ever Change
S4.E13 - No More Mr. Nice Guy
S4.E14 - Living The Dream
House is just like us fr fr
S4.E15 - House's Head
S4.E16 - Wilson's Heart
Season 5
S5.E1 - Dying Changes Everything
S5.E2 - Not Cancer
S5.E4 - Birthmarks
Hilson lets gooooooooooooooooooooo
S5.E5 - Lucky Thirteen
I'm an Olivia Wilde apologist
S5.E7 - The Itch
S5.E9 - Last Resort
BOO TO EPISODES 10-15ISH
S5.E17 - The Social Contract
S5.E18 - Here Kitty
S5.E19 - Locked In
S5.E22 - House Divided
S5.E23 - Under My Skin
S5.E24 - Both Sides Now
Season 6
S6.E1 & S6.E2
S6.E3 - Epic Fail
S6.E4 - The Tyrant
S6.E7 - Known Unknowns
I don't remember but wiki says Wilson so
S6.E8 - Teamwork
If you think Cameron and Chase are funny feel free to watch this one
S6.E10 - Wilson
LETS GO WILSON EPISODEEEEEEEE
S6.E11 - The Down Low
Hilson off the charts
S6.E12 - Remorse
S6.E15 - Private Lives
Hey its that girl. Also she's just like me fr fr
S6.E16 - Black Hole
Hilson
S6.E17 - Lockdown
Thirteen gets along with the gays
S6.E18 - Knight Fall
Thirteen is the best because House doesn't hit on her and simply goes to her for Wilson troubles.
S6.E20 - The Choice
House and Wilson might be gay but this show is still h*m*ph*bic
S6.E21 - Baggage
Season 7
House and Cuddy date and it's awful and boring and makes no sense. You may watch the first few episodes if you wish but this show cannot write straight romance to save its life.
S7.E3 - Unwritten
S7.E5 - Unplanned Parenthood
S7.E12 - You Must Remember This
S7.E17 - Fall from Grace
S7.E18 - The Dig
S7.E21 - The Fix
Season 8
I do not care for season 8.
S8.E2 - Transplant
Hilson
S8.E9 - Better Half
The one hilson scene is so. much.
S8.E16 - Gut Check
House and Wilson are in it.
S8.E17 - We Need the Eggs
S8E18 - Body & Soul
The rest of the episodes are Hilson so finish them up!

PH 7x05 Reaction and Theories
This post will contain spoilers for all of PH season 7 so far from Watcher TV
Contains moments from 7x05 but also some overall notes on s7 as a whole while we theorize for the finale next week
Since a lot of the non-WTV subscribers are looking for 7x01 posts everything will be under a read more to try and avoid spoiling things and also you can filter out #Puppet History spoilers for anything I post like this

First, not a Lore bomb but I'm giggling that 7x05 is about a jester and we learn they were chosen to perform because they could make fart jokes and the Professor calls Ryan his jester lolll
For the Lore at the end, I want to point out that they really make a point of telling us how addictive the Phorgedytol pills are and how much both Ryan and the Professor are wishing for more - I hope this isn't used against them!
they also trust Sprat enough to warn him about Elmer and the Professor says that Sprat is "really friendly" (ominous maybe?)
whoever had "Ryan tries to contact ghost!Shane via Spirit Box" on their 2025 Bingo card is correct!
this exchange between Ryan and ghost!Shane is so great lmao
During Shane's flashback he's singing a song "I once had a Lassie whose eyes were all glassy" but I couldn't find if that song actually exists
Then we get confirmation that it was Elmer who pulled the trigger and we see him walking from beside a dumpster - aka the last known location of the substitute's hologram device
:eyes emoji:
After saying how he was shot, Shane mentions running into some interesting celebrities
Past guests referenced by ghost!Shane and links to the PH episode:
Abraham Lincoln & Kate Warne - Kate was a detective who foiled an assassination attempt on Lincoln
Adolf Sax - aka the "unkillable weirdo" who lived through many things that could have killed him
Pickle Boys - they were brought back to life by Santa Claus
Seems to be a common theme about avoiding murder/death with these guests. My theory is that this is how Estranged Producer Shane Madej can still win! (come back to life)
and I want to point out again that Dr. Sprat wears triangle-shaped glasses and I can't help but feel like this is significant to 7x01 with Pythagoras and the Triangle and Reincarnation...
I think that every time we see Sprat through the season we're supposed to remember that Reincarnation is on the table
Also, Shane mentions the human participants of these episodes and not the anthropomorphized puppets (train, instrument prototype, or various guests from the xmas special). Maybe he's in a different place than purgatory, since we know that's where the puppets are or are being sent, and he's not seeing the puppets.
Now for some general notes about the season I've been rotisserie-ing in my mind the past few weeks:
7x01 Pythagoras
-Themes of mysticism and reincarnation
-Triangle sings that "Math will never die" and then is the first one to be sent to Purgatory by the Retirement Machine. Ironic but also perhaps foreshadowing that the machine isn't really killing them permanently?
7x02 Straw Hat Riots
-Themes of violence especially against those in "other" groups
-Dorothy Ruth tries to warn Ryan and the Professor
7x03 Shajar al-Durr
-Pretending someone you're close to isn't dead
-Dead body inside the puppet
-Dino parents tricked with Liza Minnelli fake and sent through the Retirement Machine (Note: Elmer is the one supervising this usage of the machine and not Dr. Sprat, who seems to be against this part of his job)
7x04 Lisztomania
-Puppet was a discarded pile of trash (a metaphor for Shane shot "like a dog in the street") when it could have been a piano for Liszt
-Professor and Ryan remember what happened at the s6 wrap party
7x05 Jester
-Dead body inside the puppet
-Professor and Ryan contact ghost!Shane
7x06 Topic TBD
-Only episode that hasn't been announced yet
-Double-checked the trailer and there were no animations from 7x06 as all the ones we saw have been for the other five episodes
-We know the guest will be Sara Rubin and her line from the trailer about "this is heading toward eating people"
-The puppet seems to be a broken ship based on the s7 banner art on WTV with a skeleton on the bow
shots from all the animations we saw in the trailer
NOTE: All of the puppets this season have been fairly simple (triangle, hat, tent, trash, rug) compared to some of the major guest stars we've had in previous seasons (god, death, cupid, Antarctica) which I think is due to Elmer or someone else besides Shane being in charge and not really caring about who is booked for the show
But Elmer's title is Branded Content Manager, so maybe he's only working for a producer in the shadows (like the Genie perhaps?? but my money is on the Substitute)
I want to believe Sprat is a good guy, but his reluctance to retire the puppets could all be a ruse!
In 7x05 we didn't get any updates on Dorothy Ruth, and the Professor and Ryan didn't learn what the Department of Puppet Safety is really up to with the guests, so I'm interested to see how much Lore is packed into the last episode. It could be a long one!
My other PH posts about s7 are in this tag if you want to refresh your memories while we wait for 7x06
Thanks for reading! Comment or reblog with your finale theories!
