Liz Allan was the better option in Spectacular Spider-Man
I loved this cartoon, my only problem was Peter's love life in it. I honestly don't see why the show put all the love interests in it.
And I definitely don't see why the show wanted fans to like Peter x Gwen when Peter x Liz had way more chemistry.
The relationship this web head had with the Latina was such a good subplot. Liz kept becoming less prissy and less of a mean girl because of Peter. This just made me hate the show even more. Why?
If they hadn't made Liz such a good form of girlfriend material then I would have preferred Peter x Gwen. But sadly, I was heartbroken by the breakup scene.
Liz was a bit more iconic and the relationship she had with Peter was so cute and sweet.
I think the writers of the show had no idea what they were doing. It was super hard for me to hate Liz, because I understood she was the better option.
She was so loyal and kind, not to mention how much she trusted Peter. It made me upset how the show made him want to be with some basic girl who he had less chemistry with.
Liz x Peter was so cute. Hell I wrote a fanfic a year ago about it. It's still ongoing but it tells an alternate tale of the ship from Liz's pov.
Loving Petey

SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME ➜ peter parker, mcu
requested: yes / no — first "i love you" with peter
author's note: this idea came from a weird ass marvel fic i started in 7th grade and never finished... here u go pookies! enjoy!!!
ⓘ content: pure fluff, mcu!peter, kissing, fem!reader, not proofread we die like tony
word count : 0.6k || peter parker masterlist
peter ❣️💙 : angel
peter ❣️💙 : babe
peter ❣️💙 : baby
peter ❣️💙 : open ur window please 🙏
you glanced at the pouring rain outside of your window, then back at your phone.
y/n : are u crazy
peter ❣️💙 : absolutely !!!
peter ❣️💙 : please please please please pleaseeeeeee
y/n : fiiiiineeeee
you throw off your blanket, immediately getting hit with a wave of cold air. you mentally curse your boyfriend of three months, best friend of years, for making you get up out of your cozy bed.
you move towards your window, squinting to see through the rain, and see a soaking wet spiderman standing on the fire escape.
he waves and points at the window. you roll your eyes and push the glass up, leaving to grab a towel for him as he climbs inside. when you turn back to hand him the towel, you see him pull his mask off and shake his hair out like a dog.
"hi," he says happily, grinning at you. you throw the towel at him, laughing.
"hi," you reply, sitting back down on your bed. peter dries his hair with the towel, then moves to your closet, where you had stashed away some extra clothes for him to wear on days like this.
he throws the towel over his shoulder as he moves aside your sweaters and shirts to find a pair of sweatpants and an oversized "i ❤️ nyc" shirt. you lay on your stomach and scroll on your phone, trying to decide on a movie.
you feel the bed dip beside you and you turn to see your boyfriend smiling at you. "you're so pretty," he says.
"says you," you reply as he wraps an arm around you and kisses your cheek.
"you are!" he protests.
you shake your head, laughing. "okay, buddy," you remark.
he kisses your cheek again. you roll over so you're facing him, and kiss his nose. you end up falling asleep, some chick flick you found on netflix playing softly in the background.
a few hours later, you wake up to a cold bed. you roll over, groaning, to see peter hurriedly putting his spider-suit back on.
he notices you awake and starts quickly explaining, something about a bank and a robbery. you get up out of bed and kiss him in an attempt to shut him up.
his hands immediately drop his mask and go to your waist. his kisses are always the same, sweet and loving. after a few seconds, he pulls away. "im sorry," he apologizes, leaning back down to pick up his mask.
"it's fine," you wave it off, moving behind him to zip up his suit. he turns his face, a slightly guilty look on his face.
he kisses your cheek and moves towards the window. crouched on the sill, he shoots a web out.
"hey." you say, stopping him.
"hm?" he turns, mask half on his face.
"be safe." you walk over and kiss his nose. taking a deep breath, you say the words that have been caught in your throat for what feels like the past thousand years. "i love you."
from what you can see of his face, his cheeks turn pink. "really? i- oh, uh, that's great! i mean- shit," he stammers. "i love you too."
you laugh at his response. "go save new york, spiderman. i'll be waiting."
he nods, pulling his mask fully over his grinning face. as he swings away, you hear him yell, "I LOVE YOU Y/N!!" he disappears over the rooftops, in the direction of wailing sirens, and you laugh quietly to yourself.
"i love you too, peter."

The sound of silence was the only sound present in the Cortez. Everyone was either out, asleep, or just trapped here, remaining in secret for however long they wished to be hidden.
You however, were wide awake in bed, just staring at the ceiling. James lay asleep beside you. His dark chocolate brown hair slightly messed up, a few bits resting upon his forehead. He always looked so peaceful when he was sound. You could never help but to admire his beautiful, sleeping form. With him being a ghost, he didn’t need much sleep. But even the dead got tired at times.
You sighed and slid out of bed, cringing when you saw James stir. You managed to creep quietly to another spot of the room, changing into clean clothes before leaving a note for you’re partner when he woke up.
Dearest James,
I have gone down to the bar for a bit of peace. I may not be here when you wake up, so no need to go looking for me. I will arrive back when i’m fully relaxed.
Love, Y/N.
You finished signing off the note before heading down to the bar. Luckily enough, Liz was still up serving drinks. So you wouldn’t need to help yourself and go a tad bit crazy. Perhaps she’d make sure you were keeping a limit on how much you were drinking.
She smiled at you before placing a glass down, putting in a few bits of ice. You liked when the two of you could talk in the dead hours of night. It was far more peaceful and no one would be able to disturb either of you.
“What are you in the mood for tonight, honey?” Liz asked. You requested you’re choice of beverage and she was busy making it within seconds. In the distance, you could see Sally sitting in one of the booths.
Liz handed you you’re drink and you thanked her gracefully. You took a sip before lighting a cigarette.
“Can’t sleep?” Liz guessed.
You shook you’re head and blew out a cloud of smoke. Not a single soul was in sight but yourself, Liz, and Sally. A chill ran down you’re spine as you listened in to the deadly silence.
“Is anyone else even up at this time?” You questioned. Liz just poured herself a drink and sat on the stool behind the bar.
“Well.. John sometimes comes down. I think Iris is probably sound asleep. And my Tristan always hits the snooze button the minute he lays down.” The two of you giggled. I think most of the ghosts were aware that Tristan LOVED his sleep. Even in death, he still found it incredibly important.
“Oh, and the Countess is always just out or in her room with Donovan or whoever she’s still with these days.” Liz said, swiftly gulping down her beverage. You raised a brow and stared behind her in deep thought.
“Everything ok honey?”
You were quick to snap back into reality. “Oh yeah, yeah. Just.. i’ve never seen her in person.”
Liz nearly choked on the small bag of chips she was now snacking on. “You’ve never seen the Countess?!?”
You awkwardly bit you’re lip. “No..”
Liz sighed a little. “Even.. even Mr March hasn’t mentioned her to you?”
“Nope..”
She looked rather confused but decided to shake it off. You were about to finish you’re drink but you seemed to notice how Liz was staring at the ground floor beneath the bar, paying close attention to the beautiful blonde woman walking through the doors.
“That’s her.”
“Sorry?”
“That’s the Countess.” Liz pointed out, getting herself off of the bar stool and pretending to clean up the minute the Countess caught her looking.
You drank the last of you’re glass before taking a good look at her. Soon enough, the two of you locked eye contact.
She smirked slightly before dismissing the thought of returning to her suite and heading up to the bar. Had you made a mistake by letting her notice you’re presence? You didn’t have a clue. From what you’ve heard of the Countess, you knew she wasn’t one to fuck around with. Be careful with you’re words. Always.
Her heels tapped against the stairs going upwards to the bar. Liz gave you a sort of ‘good luck’ expression before going off to speak to Sally.
She finally entered the bar and you turned you’re back to her, hoping she’d just go back to wherever she was originally planning on going.
That thought ended and you’re bubble was immediately burst. She took a seat on the bar stool next to you, sensing the fear radiating within.
“New face I take it?” She laughed with a slight hint of coldness to her tone, calling for Liz to come over and make her a drink. You saw the friendly, now nervous barmaid whisk out a large, fancy glass containing some sort of red liquid. You assumed it was wine, of course.
You gathered enough courage to face her, forcing a smile. “I’ve been here and there in the Cortez.”
“Hm, so what is it that draws you in to spend you’re time in this place?” The Countess questioned. You thought wisely about what answer you’d give her but just guessed it would be best to tell her the truth. You weren’t exactly threatened by her, but you just didn’t really want to know what she would do if you dared to offend her in any way, shape, or form.
“I stay here for someone who has drawn me in from the very first moment I met him.” You replied, watching her take a sip of her drink. She licked her lips and stared at you with great interest. Playfulness, even.
“Would I care to know this person?”
You sighed. “Maybe. Maybe not..”
She chuckled before signalling to you that she wanted an answer. Now.
“His name is James Patrick March. You may not have heard of him, but he has quite the reputation. So I won’t be surprised if you know who he is.”
She grinned wickedly before giggling softly. You blinked and wondered if telling her was the correct choice to make.
“Yes. As it turns out, i’m aware of who James is.”
You were confused on why she used his first name. You knew the guests and other ghosts only referred to him as Mr March. That was what he expected from all of them.
“Have you met?”
She laughed even further and you began to feel nauseous.
“James and I go way back. Though i’m sure you’re aware that he’s not from you’re timeline.” The Countess whispered. You nodded you’re head gently and didn’t know if you really wanted to find out how the Countess was acquainted with you’re beloved.
“You see, James and I were rather close back in our day. He appeared to have drawn me in with the same darkness I presume he drew you in with. It’s a pity though. Even when he put a ring on my finger, I didn’t entirely know what I was walking into.” Lying bitch. James had been the one to suffer for years due to her unloving and selfish personality. Though, that you had absolutely no clue about.
The minute she finished her last few sentences, you practically choked on you’re cold refill.
“I’m- i’m sorry?” You sputtered. James had a wife?
The Countess laughed again and took a few more sips of her drink. You felt yourself begin to feel like an idiot. James had been wed to her, and you knew nothing about it. He hadn’t mentioned anything that would indicate he had a previous lover. Especially not that his past lover was the Countess..
“I must warn you, he can be quite a handful when he wants to be. In fact, i’m still forced to have atleast one meal with him each month.” She huffed. You looked at her in disbelief. So that’s why James was never ‘available’ to see you on one specific day each month. Well, that’s how Miss Evers had put it.
“I’m guessing you’re aware of his past. I did not support his actions. But, I had to live with them. I tried to tell him about my doubts in our relationship, but I had no choice. I was stuck. I knew James would certainly never let me move forward..” The Countess lied again. Her tone was filled with pure, mock sadness.
You were at a loss for words. You’re.. you’re James was a control freak? If you ever wanted to leave him, he’d hold you captive within the walls of this hellhole?? That wasn’t what had struck you most. It’s the fact that he had been a lover of this woman for so long, and you didn’t even know about it..
I mean what could you possibly do? It was clear she wasn’t fond of him anymore, but was he still madly in love with her? Was he even YOU’RE James? Perhaps he’d been using you on the nights and days he never got to see the Countess.
“I must be getting back to my suite. Just.. keep in mind what I told you.” She grinned again, winking at you before abandoning her drink and leaving.
You sat there, a dreadful feeling of hurt and loneliness slowly passing over you. You’d been lied to. Again. So many men had all sorts of experiences in you’re life, and you thought James might just have been the one that changed everything. Well weren’t you the fool.
Liz came back over to you after she realised the Countess had left. She noticed the lining of tears in you’re eyes, suddenly growing worried.
“Sweetie, is everything alright?”
You fumbled for words. “I.. I need to go..”
You placed a hand over you’re mouth and dashed off. Leaving Liz confused and even more worried than what she was before.
***
You ran from hallway to hallway, desperately trying to get back to you’re suite. You passed Tristan on the way, he was fully clothed but was furiously rubbing at his clearly tired eyes. By the looks of it, he’d just awoken from his slumber.
“Oh hey Y/N..” He yawned, stumbling backwards when you shoved past him, still sobbing.
“Damn, someone’s pissed.” Tristan mumbled sleepily.
***
You finally reached you’re suite and burst through the door. There was no sight of James, so you ran to the bedroom and slammed the door behind you.
Curling up into a ball on the bed, you just sobbed. Sobbed and sobbed and sobbed you’re precious heart out, trying to release some of you’re pain.
James was quick to appear before you, totally stunned and extremely angry in case someone had hurt you.
“Darling! Oh, my darling.. what is wrong?” He said, reaching over to place a hand on you’re shoulder. You only flinched back in pure rage.
“Don’t touch me you bastard!”
James stared at you, wide eyed. He was totally bewildered. What had he done that would have hurt you so?
“I spoke with a familiar face in the bar. Very familiar, actually. You’d certainly know her..”
“Her?” He raised a brow.
“YOU’RE WIFE.”
James looked at you blankly. “Darling.. whatever do you mean?”
You scoffed and flew off the bed, pushing past him. He was quick to follow you into the sitting room.
“What do you mean ‘what do I mean?’ you asshat! You know exactly what I mean, James!” You screamed angrily. Flopping down onto the sofa in you’re fit of rage.
“Dearest please.. I don’t understand..”
You laughed at his foolishness. “The Countess. Does that ring any bells, Jimmy?”
He gulped slightly. You only referred to him as ‘Jimmy’ when you were extremely pissed. Now he knew he was in trouble.
“Dear, this a misunderstanding!” He yelled back. Beginning to grow frustrated with his words not even being acknowledged or listened to.
“James.. I know for a fact that this isn’t a misunderstanding. The Countess told me everything. How you got married, that you wouldn’t let her leave, how you trapped her in here! Is that what you’ll do to me?” You whimpered, noticing the look of hurt on his face.
He took a few steps closer to you and sat on the armchair nearby, sighing.
“My love, you know I would never hurt you. Ever. And as for the Countess, that woman isn’t so perfect herself. Our story.. wasn’t like that at all. I was betrayed, lied to. I thought I had fallen in love but I was so confused.. and desperate for that matter. Elizabeth used me as a distraction. A past lover of hers had passed away, and she felt herself also on the brink of death. So.. I tried so very hard to help the poor dear. Something in her had interested me, so.. I found myself feeling the need to make her happy. But what I didn’t know, was it was all a trick. A cruel, meaningless, trick. Her past lover was still alive and well. He offered to give her something I couldn’t. Immortality. That man had been infected with what appeared to be some sort of ancient blood virus.. something that would make one strong and forever beautiful. Elizabeth agreed to run away with him and his other lover, threatening to leave everything I had with her behind. They were all unaware that I knew all about this wicked plan. I.. I couldn’t help myself. I wanted her back. I still craved her touch and the warm feeling of undying love. So, I hid her lover away within the walls of the Cortez. He was trapped. Never to be found again. Just a few years ago.. Elizabeth managed to find out about this news. I didn’t bother hiding it. Whatever I did wouldn’t matter. I was practically abandoned by her so many years ago. All I did was watch as she moved on from man to man, not a single thought going to me at all..”
You looked at him with shock. Feeling nothing but guilt and utter stupidity. The Countess hadn’t been the victim in all this. It was you’re James.. you’re poor, poor James.
“So, my dear. The Countess was not the first woman I fell in love with. It was you..” He whispered, getting up from his chair and kneeling down in front of you.
“Oh James.. oh James!” You cried, wrapping you’re arms around him.
“I’m sorry.. i’m so, so, so sorry!” You cried further. James shushed you gently and pulled out his handkerchief, drying you’re tear stained cheeks.
He pulled you into his touch, kissing you’re lips softly. You returned the kiss, turning it into a more passionate, loving experience.
“Darling..”
“Yes, James?”
“Marry me.”

PETER PARKER X FEM!READER
summary: slapping peter parker has its consequences. but mr stark and your father make sure that this “community service” will work out in both of their favors. but that means asking things neither you nor peter may be able to do.
WC: 2k
TW: swearing
“what?!” your loud voice cuts through the tension in the small office of your principal.
your father’s face is hard and stern, and he hasn’t spoken a word the whole time.
he is sat to your left, peter is to your right, and peter’s aunt may is on his other side.
“there is no way i’m doing that,” you laugh, shaking your head.
“excuse me, mr morita, could you repeat that?” you father asks, raising an eyebrow.
he is just as upset as you are. this is pointless. as far as he can see; you stood up for yourself.
“of course, mr griswold. here at midtown, we do not condone violence of any kinds. miss griswold’s harassment of mr parker today in the cafeteria violates our school rules. since i am the principal, and i am in charge of keeping our school safe, i must give miss griswold a punishment.”
he finishes, looking at the four of you.
peter and you are sat as far away from each other as possible. his aunt has an anxious look on her face, and you feel sort of bad.
maybe you shouldn’t have slapped him…
no! y/n shut up! he spread lies about you! you are in the right, not him.
“i understand, mr morita, but i’m sure a weeks suspension is a little dramatic,” your father put on his work voice, demanding and frightening.
you found yourself wincing at his words. he was the only person you were ever scared of.
“my father’s right, sir, i only stood up for myself,” you defended, putting on your puppy-dog eyes.
“i’m sorry, miss griswold, but if you wish to change your punishment, you must go to the board of education.”
you sigh, pretty much accepting the defeat.
wait! this is peter’s fault, so why shouldn’t he go down too?
“mr morita, if i may,” you start,
“of course,”
“like i said, i was only standing up for myself. i felt attacked by peter’s cruel words and he was spreading lies about me. lies that include activities which i did not partake in. he is practically sexualizing me, which if i’m not wrong, goes against rule 142 of school conduct. surely he should receive some sort of punishment as well.” you reasoned, planting a sweet tone and a charming smile.
you watched the corners of your fathers mouth twitch into a smirk.
“you are right, miss. i suppose mr parker has broken rules as well. two weeks of community service for the both of you. that’s all.” he dismissed the four of you with the wave of his hand, and you and your father exited with grins on the both of your faces.
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
COMMUNITY SERVICE; DAY ONE
when your matte black mclaren pulls up into the parking lot where you’re meeting peter, you immediately don’t want to be there.
after you left the school yesterday, peter had given you his number so you two could communicate on where to work. mr morita said the only way he would let you both back was if you did the work together.
you were dreading it.
the minutes felt like hours, so when peter finally walked up to you, you thought you had been sitting there for seven hours.
he eyed you, and raised an eyebrow at your outfit.
you were wearing black tights, a burberry skirt, a white turtleneck sweater, and knee-high black chanel boots. what was so wrong with your outfit?
you gave him a look and crossed your arms over your chest. normally you didn’t care what people thought of you…
“god this sucks!” you breathed out, throwing your head back.
peter rolled his eyes, and sat down next to you.
“listen, y/n, i’m sorry about what you think i did, but i suggest that we somehow find a way to work together to get this over with,” he spoke, watching you out of the corner of his eye.
“whatever, peter, i don’t really care!”
he shook his head and stood up, walking over to the woman with the clipboard.
you watched him walk away and huffed, he was getting on your nerves way more than you expected.
deep down, you knew that he didn’t say the things harry said he did. harry was like that though; he loved drama, and usually started it on his own.
once peter came back, he was carrying two black trash bags, and two metal sticks.
“what are those?” you asked, reluctantly taking them from him.
“our community service. now stand up,”
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
“peter! i’m tired. can we rest?” you pleaded, watching him pick up crushed soda cans.
“fine. but only five minutes,” he sighed, shaking his head at your laziness.
he had done all the work, the only thing you could really said you did was complain.
sighing as he slumped down next to you, his head shot up as you squealed next to him.
“gregor!” you jumped up, running to the black bentley that pulled up next to the gazebo the two of you were seated at.
he stood up and hesitantly followed you, unsure of this strange man.
gregor — the man you ran to — offered peter a smile as he got out of the backseat, and extended his hand once peter was within reach.
“doctor gregor mathers. you must be peter parker, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
peter examined the man before giving his hand.
they shook hands for a slight moment before you started practically climbing doctor mathers.
“pleaseee tell me you’ve come to save me! i need to get out of here!” you begged, inching closer and closer to the car door.
“yes, i have actually. the both of you. your father wishes to meet with you both.” gregor said sternly, motioning towards the car.
you climbed in immediately, gregor slid in next to you, and then when peter got in, he was across.
gregor told the driver to head for gris-rise, the building that held griswold tech, the company your father owned.
gregor had heard of peter’s internship at stark industries — the competition for your fathers company — so he was hesitant when your father announced he wanted both you and peter to come to his office.
one thing was for sure, gregor would be keeping an eye on peter.
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
the elevator ride up to your father’s office was quiet and tense.
peter awkwardly stood opposite of you and gregor, and continuously shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
he watched you carefully as you applied lipstick using the long mirrors along the whole elevator. gregor stood closely next to you, keeping an eye on peter.
the doors chimed and opened wide, presenting your fathers completely glass office. 50 foot walls lined the entire room, completely dark grey glass windows.
his dark mahogany desk sat in the middle, with two grey plush chairs across from it.
your heeled boots clicked on the marble floor as you waltzed up to your father, who was faced away from you, standing up and staring out one of his many windows.
“hi, daddy,” you smiled, giving him a peck on the cheek as he turned around. “hello, darling,” he spoke back, turning around and facing peter and gregor with a glimmering smirk.
“welcome to gristech, peter parker.”
peter’s chest tightened as he lightly squinted, taking in your fathers smile. his teeth glinted white in the bright office, and he looked almost sinister.
peter lightly nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat, next to gregor.
“gregor you’re free to go, my biggest thank yous.” your dad smiled, giving gregor a squeeze on the shoulder.
“of course, ken. i’ll be back shortly,” gregor said, giving you a tight lipped smile and nodding to peter as he walked past him.
the sound of his expensive dress shoes echoed in the open room as you and peter were ushered to your fathers desk.
peter reluctantly sat down next to you, uneasily looking around and trying to find the quickest way to escape.
“i’m very happy you agreed to come here, mr parker. i’m kennedy griswold, ceo and president at gristech, but please just call me ken.” a bright smile once again exposed itself on your fathers face.
“of course, sir.” peter said, lightly bowing his head.
“now, i spoke to midtown, and principal morita agreed to let me bend the conditions of your community service just a bit. i figured you two would quickly tire of the slaving away they had you both doing. so instead, i’ve had both of you transferred here. to be my interns for these 2 weeks.”
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
AVENGERS TOWER
tony’s fingers pressed into his temples, listening to peter jabber about what ken griswold had told him.
gristech was stark industries biggest competitor. obviously, tony wasn’t happy, but he figured that this could be used to his advantage.
“listen kid,” tony started, placing a hand on peters shoulder, “ken griswold is no dummy. in fact he might almost be as smart as me. there’s definitely a reason he’s doing this, and its not for his daughter; lord knows he’s never cared about his family. especially after what he did to his wife… but that’s besides the point.”
peter gave tony a confused look, wondering where he could be going with this.
“i want you to keep a close eye on ken griswold. see his next moves, what he’s making now. then come tell me. we will always be a step ahead.”
“sir, i don’t know if i’m cut out for it. you know i’m clumsy and sometimes stupid and,” peter awkwardly laughed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“you’re smart, parker. you’ll do what’s right, you think with your heart. just don’t trust the girl, she’s beautiful, yes, but she’s a little devil. i’ve heard the things she’s done.”
tony was talking about you, of course.
“make her fall for you. make her trust you. make her feel like she can tell you anything. get her to tell you everything. we need this information to get ahead, parker.”
peter shook his head. he wasn’t cut out for that. how could tony expect him to fake feelings for you when he’s loved you for years? how would he live with himself?
“mr stark…”
“i’m counting on you, kid. don’t let me down.” tony gave him a rough pat on the back, and left the room, leaving peter alone with his thoughts.
his jumbled, twisted thoughts. thoughts that were going to eat him alive.
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
GRIS-RISE
“no! i absolutely will not be doing that!” you screeched, appalled that your father thought you would ever associated yourself with peter parker.
“y/n arabella griswold. this is not me asking. this is me demanding. you will get peter parker to trust you, and you will get peter parker to tell you everything he knows about stark industries. i do not care what it takes. want a new chanel? consider it done.”
“daddy! i don’t want to! i hate peter parker! how can you make me do this after those things he said about me?” you we’re shocked. your father was a bad man, you knew this, but he wasn’t evil.
this was out of character of him.
yet, as always, you complied. you would do anything for your fathers approval, something you had been seeking all your life.
you never had a problem getting approval from your mother. she was beautiful, and kind. like a ray of sunshine. your father was dark and gloomy like a thunderstorm. they balanced each other out.
ever since your mothers death when you were a mere child, things hadn’t been the same. your father turned dark and cold and shut you and georgie out.
so of course, if it meant you had to make peter parker fall in love with you to make your father proud, you’d do it.
it can’t be that hard, can it?

For the literally indescribable and incomparable @liz-allyn 🌻 spicy spidey returns with some breakup sex -> 18+ only y’all!
You had no business kissing Peter Parker, not when you’d broken up with him two months ago. Although, break up a was generous term for what had amounted to eighteen months of dating that had slowly started to fizzle out until it ended in an explosive argument about commitment and danger and the dishes in the kitchen sink.
So no, your lips should be nowhere near Peter Parker.
Yet here you are, with your fingers tangled in his sweaty hair, tugging until his chin dips backwards and you can drag your lips (which are definitely closer to him than they should be) along his neck, tasting the salt on his skin, the efforts of another night he’s spent as Spider-Man.
It should be a reminder of exactly why you can’t be with him, but his hips rolling against yours, his cock familiar as it presses into your lower belly seems to have erased all memory from your brain, so lost are you in the moment. In Peter’s molten honey eyes as they stare at you, darkened by the sight of you lost in pleasure. In his hands, one gripping your backside tight enough to leave fingerprints, the other teasing between your legs, the sound of slick enough to make you groan at every little movement.
“Thanks for letting me in sunflower,” Peter mutters, pressing you further against the fire escape window he’d climbed through not fifteen minutes earlier. “Need you so bad.”
He grabs for your wrist and guides your hand to the place where your lower bodies are messily rutting against one another, settling your palm over his hardness. “Feel that, baby,” he groans, breath hitching when you squeeze at his length, “That’s how bad I need you. How much I miss your pretty face when you fall apart for me.”

IRON SPIDER | Tony Stark Daughter! Reader (Part 2)
Previous part
(Y/n) (L/n)
That's what I had to be called there. (Y/n) (L/n). Miss (L/n). I felt like a part of me was taken away.
"I can just stay home right? I don't have to go." I asked my Dad, the field trip slip in front of us both on the table.
"I don't see why not. If you don't wanna go, you don't wanna go. You've seen and have better equipment than anything there." Dad argued and I nodded, agreeing with him but Pepper shook her head.
"No, I think she should go! It's good to have some school enrichment and this is the whole reason we sent her to school! So she actually socialises with people her own age and has some normal experiences!" Pepper argued and Dad raised a finger.
"First of all- you sent her to school -I wanted her to stay home. Second, she has friends now! She goes to school, Monday-Friday, isn't that enough socialising?" Dad argued back and I stood up to put my plate into the sink.
"I'd argue that it's more than enough socialising." I said and Dad nodded.
"It says that it's part of your lessons!" Pepper added and I frowned.
"I didn't go on "the field trip" the first time round! I did this whole course about 2 years ago when I was still being homeschooled by JARVIS!" I told them both and Pepper gave me a look.
"You're going." She said and I frowned before raising a finger but my dad beat me to it.
"Hold on. You're not the one that has to forge the signature of Mr (L/n)!" One look from Pepper made him look away from both of us. "You're going."
"You're such a suck up!"
"You'll be one when I ground you for that."
"Does that mean I won't be able to go then?"
"(Y/n)..."
"Switched teams faster than-"
"Stop- before you make me sound like my Dad. Just go tinker or something and don't forget to take this in the morning." He told me and I groaned.
★・・・・・・★
Early May, 2015
"(Y/n)! You made it!" Liz exclaimed and I smiled, letting her hug me.
"Yeah, Stepmom changed my dad's mind." I told her and she smiled.
"Well, I'm glad! It means I don't have to go on this trip without my bestfriend! Im gonna need you to explain everything to me!" She exclaimed and I smiled.
"What did you pack for lunch?" Liz asked me as soon as we got on the bus. First of all- bus. I saw Happy's car sat outside the school gates ready to follow me for the whole of today.
"Er- my lunchbox broke ages ago so I'm just- I'm just gonna buy something when I'm there." I made up. You had to bring your own lunch?!
"Did you not know you had to bring your own lunch?" Liz joked and I smiled back.
"I didn't read the letter- I didn't even know it existed until I pulled it out from the bottom of my bag last night. I think it was about to start growing mould-" she cut me off with her laughing and playfully shoved me.
"If there's no food there you can always share mine if you want." She offered and I genuinely smiled.
"Thanks." I nodded and watched as she put her head phones on with me copying her soon after.
The song I was listening to almost had me in a trance when I almost jumped out of my skin because of JARVIS randomly in my ear.
"You're approaching the sciencenter 160, please remember that I'm still accessible and security measures are still in place. You are safe, Miss Stark." I sighed in relief and didn't reply but I looked out to see Happy's car following right to the side of the bus. I decided to look away from the window and to the inside of the bus to see a boy in my class called Peter staring at me. He went wide eyed and quickly looked away. I looked back to the window with the song still on full blast in my ears.
★・・・・・・★
"I hope you don't mind bugs! Because there's a lot of them here!" I shivered at the thought and noticed I wasn't the only one so uncomfortable in my own skin right now. I felt like something was crawling on me already.
"Feel free to have your own look!" I heard the tour guide tell us and immediately we were all splitting up around the room.
"(Y/n)! We're going to look at these tarantulas, wanna come?" Liz asked.
"As exciting as that sounds- I'm gonna pass. I'm just going to have my own look for a moment- I'll meet up with you guys at lunch!" I told them and walked off to the furthest table where Happy was wearing a face mask and sunglasses to disguise himself as regular security. No one was around so I felt more comfortable.
"I've never been a big fan of bugs- actually is there something crawling on me right now because I feel infested." I told him and he chuckled.
"You're fine. It's just some bugs and they're contained."
"Don't invalidate my fears. It makes me feel like you don't care about me." I told him and he sighed.
"I'm not having this argument again. I've had it with you father, I've had it with you, I'm not having it again. This is the 5th time now, (Y/n). I wouldn't still be working for you if I didn't care." He told me and I raised my hands up in surrender.
"Wouldn't kill you to show it once in a while, happs." I told him, staring at a centipede.
"You might want these." He told me and handed me a pair of glasses that I originally thought were prototypes. I looked at him in surprise and he lifted his sunglasses up to wink and and pointed them at him and nodded.
"You're good."
"I've known you since the first day your father held you. Don't test me when it comes to knowing you Starks." He told me and I nodded putting the glasses on.
"Jarvis?" ......
"Hello Miss."
"Yay!" I cheered quietly. "Okay, talk to me. Tell me what everything is. Occupy me so I don't get too bored." I told him.
"Of course." He replied and I smiled again.
"It's like being at home!" I said quietly to myself.
★・・・・・・★
"If you go through this door, I believe you will find a more interesting exhibit." Jarvis told me and I walked in to see a bunch of old square TVs that were playing old insect documentaries and movies. Multiple facts about different bugs were being told me by multiple people and narrators.
"Even Howard Stark said spiders were-"
"Hey-" I jumped out my skin to turn around and see Peter.
"Oh my god- you scared the shit out of me. Hey." I told him and he looked at me like he'd realised he don't something horrible to me.
"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" He was a little scrawny kid that was only a bit taller than me who I raised a hand to in order to get him to stop talking.
"Don't worry about it..." I told him and looked back the screen with my grandfather on who was holding a tarantula. I cringed and Peter looked at the same screen as me.
"He was an amazing mind- I mean he died before I was born but.... I don't really like bugs that much." He rambled and stumbled through his words and I genuinely laughed, softly but it did get a laugh out of me.
"It's okay, Pete. I don't really like bugs either."
"Pete?"
"Oh... do you not like being called that?" I asked and he shook his head.
"No, I'm okay with being called it- I just- I- no one's really gave me that nickname before." He told me and I raised my eyebrows.
"Do you want me to just call you Peter?" I asked and he shook his head again.
"No! You can call me whatever you want- I mean I think this is the first time I've actually spoke to you- I just- Uhm- I just thought you'd call me penis Parker or something like that." He told me and I almost frowned.
"Who calls you Penis Parker?!" I almost laughed. Penis Parker! "Who made that one up then?" I shook my head and a genuine smile came into his face.
"Flash but it's been picked up quite quickly."
"I must be out the loop then- ow!" I hissed as I felt a prick and looked down to see a big-ish spider on my hand. My eyes widened and I gasped starting to freak out. "Oh my god!" I said quickly.
"Oh!" Peter quickly gasped looking at it,
"Get it off! Get it off!" I quickly pleased shaking my hand and Peter without thinking picked it up by the leg and then tried to shake it off to which I landed on the floor and I quickly stamped on it, repeatedly before kicking it under the table.
"I'm burning these shoes!" I said, disgustedly.
"What if that spider was important!" Peter quickly gasped out and I tilted my head.
"Well it's not anymore. We should probably go- that thing bit me!" I told him and he looked at my hand quickly, I missed how he hid his hand from me and his wide eyes somehow became wider.
"It's just a spider-" he began to ramble again and I chuckled walking past him and gesturing him to follow me out to which he did.
★・・・・・・★
"Oh shit..." I said looking at the canteen and noticing the cafeteria was shut. Peter looked at me concerned.
"What's wrong?" He asked and I sighed.
"Nothing I just realised I have no lunch now. It's fine, I'll just get something later." I told him and almost went to walk off.
"You can share mine if you want? I ordered the bigger one today by accident and I didn't want to tell them I was wrong so we can split it if you want." Peter told me and I smiled but shook my head.
"Don't worry Pete. I'll just pick something up when I get home." I told him and he smiled.
"If you want any, just ask." He told me. I noticed that we were some of the first few in the cafeteria so I sat down with him.
"Who are you waiting for?" I asked Peter as he brought his sandwich out his bag.
"Ned! Ned Leeds- he's kind of my best friend... only friend." Peter told me and I smiled.
"I get it. Liz is like my best friend. I didn't have many friends before I came here." I told him and he nodded.
"Where are you from?" He asked, sand which stuffed in his mouth and I smiled.
"Miami." I told him and he went wide eyed.
"Miami?!" He repeated and I smiled.
"Miami.... It was a big move but we were kind of going to and from anyway." I lied and he nodded.
"Where do you live now?- Not in a creepy way!" I chuckled a bit at his franticness.
"Manhattan... I have an apartment in one of the towers." I said and he nodded.
"Like the Avengers' Tower?!" He said shocked like he had just discovered something and I laughed.
"Yes because I'm obviously (Y/n) Stark." I told him and he smiled in amusement.
"Nice try... I live in Queens. I have an apartment too." He told me and I smiled, it went silent after that.
"Want a bite?" Peter asked and I looked at him quizzically before nodding.
"Okay..." He gestured to the other half and I tried a bite. It was surprisingly good. "Oh wow... that's actually better than I was expecting." I told him and he smiled. Cheeks full of food.
"Delamar's! Best sandwiches in Queens!" He said, enthusiastically and I chuckled.
"I can see that now." I told him and saw Liz and that walking in. "My friends have just come in- I'm gonna go join them but it's been nice to talk to you, Pete." I told him and went to walk away.
"Hey!- Do you want the rest of my sandwich?! I'm not that hungry- honestly!" He offered.
"Are you sure? I'll just get myself something on my way home." I told him and he nodded.
"Take it! I mean- if you want to of course!" He told me and I smiled.
"Thanks, Pete. I'll see you after the break." I said, taking the half I had bit into and walked away.
★・・・・・・★
"Hey princess, how was the- the science place?" Dad asked and I made a face.
"Full of bugs! A spider even bit me and I had no lunch because I didn't pack one and there was nowhere to buy anything from. I'm lucky someone offered me half of their sandwich they didn't want." I ranted straight away, dumping my bag and kicking my shoes off- not literally because I always kept them in this one place. "I didn't even wanna go in the first place." I told him and I didn't look at him but I could feel his guilty expression staring at me.
"I'm sorry, honey. I never would've signed if I knew it would've been so bad for you." Dad told me and I pulled open the fridge to get a drink and a snack because all I had ate from 7am-6pm was half a sandwich.
"Yeah well, Pepper told you to do it so you obviously folded." I snapped before storming off to my room.
"Oh come on, honey, don't do this to me. Y'know you come first- Hey! Don't slam your door! You know how this goes from me being calm to you getting grounded when that happens!" He told me and I groaned before shutting my door normally and then shoving it hard when it got to the latch. Not enough to slam but enough to get my way.
★・・・・・・★
Tony sighed and closed his eyes before tilting his head up. He hadn't moved from where he was on the couch but he knew he had to soon.
"Miss Stark is quite upset. I have asked her if she'd like me to call you in and she said no but my protocols override this request." Jarvis announced to Tony who didn't open his eyes.
"Is she crying?" He asked, simply.
"Yes."
Tony stood up and and made his way to his daughter's room. Opening the door to see her laying down on her bed and facing away from the door. Tony sat down on the end of the bed near her head as she stopped her crying and refused to look at him.
"You all good?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Yeah." She said in a small voice.
"Really? Because this doesn't look all good to me." He told her and she shook her head this time letting more tears flow out. Tony just moved her closer and in turn she placed her head on the side of his lap and his hands began to run through her hair.
"It's not been your day, huh? Been there. Except mine was to do with this expo in 1998-" Tony started and (Y/n) chuckled a little. "- I mean she everywhere! I didn't know what she was saying or showing me-" He continued and (Y/n) leaned up to actually look at him. "All good?" He asked and she nodded.
"All good." She repeated and he brought her in for a hug.
"What's really bothering you?" He asked and she leaned into him. Staying quiet for a moment. "I know you're not just upset because you didn't have any food." He told her and she stayed still.
"I- I don't know. I guess I just feel out of place. I'm too young to blend in with all of you at home and I'm not used to anything at school. Y'know how embarrassing it is to not understand that you have to wait in line at a shop for the register? I do. It's very!" She vented and Tony sighed before making her move to siting up so he could actually hug her.
"I don't know what to tell you. You don't experience anything a normal kid would and you never have. You've been walking red carpets since you learned to walk and been kept at home for all your life. Y'know I'm realising that I just said I don't know what to tell you and I just told you something- anyway I'm saying it's my fault. It's my error. I should've done more to stop this from happening. I probably should've sent you to school earlier as well. Looking back there's a lot I could've done." Tony rambled a little and (Y/n) tried drying the rest of her tears with her sleeve.
"I'm scared as well." She added and he frowned.
"Of what?"
"You getting called to go be IronMan and you not coming back. I have this fear when I go to school that it will happen." She told him and he held her a bit tighter.
"That's what you said after New York too. Then it got worse after Miami where you couldn't sleep or be in a different room to me. Honey, you had to go to school in order to help with that. Can't live with this separation anxiety forever because it will eat you up and I can't be here forever so you've got to learn how to live without me too." Tony told her and she shook her head.
"I don't want to." She stubbornly said and Tony chuckled.
"I didn't want to know how to live without my parents either." He admitted before looking at her and she looked at him confused. "Listen, kid. Heres what we're gonna do. You're not going to focus on that. We're gonna go downstairs- get in the car, get food, get ice cream and then we're gonna put Lilo and Stitch on and whoever can remember the most lines gets to choose the next movie night. Deal?" He asked and held his hand out for her to shake. She shook it and nodded.
"Deal."
"Good. No more tears. I'm serious!" He 'reprimanded' jokingly and she laughed following him out her room.

Memories Fading (James Patrick March x reader)
Oooohhooo another fic time. I just came up with this, and I hope it's nice for those who do have scars.
WARNINGS!: Sh scars, sh mentions, negative talk, self image discussion.
From the readers perspective!
The mirror had an ugly image in front of it. My own body. My arms looked fragile, I was weak. Sighs exited my mouth as James walked into the room. "My dear why are you sighing so?" He asked, looking at my almost naked body up and down, adoring it.
All I did was point to my arms and thighs, the faintness of the scars was barely there, yet I felt the pain of them again, shivering. James then sighed at me and stood in front of the mirror. "Dear you are exquisite, and so is the body you hold." He gently held onto my waist, trying to comfort me.
"James, I appreciate it, but, I...i can't. I can only see the scars. I don't like 'my vessel' or whatever bull Liz told me." I rambled and rambled, my brain going haywire by James' touch and my own body, cold, even though I was dead already. I'd been dead for a few years now.
3 years ago, a strange woman into the hotel, and I made eye contact with her, her eyes were bloodshot, and looked, insane almost. She stared at me intensely, like she knew something about me. She knew I planned to stay here forever.
But I turned around and headed to the bar, it was cold and dark, and the barmaid wasn't there. But someone sat by me and grabbed a drink from behind the bar. "Uh, you can't do that.." the woman looked over at me, and she had that same stare, it was the stare she gave me when I walked in.
"I can do whatever I want, so you better get comfortable." She just hissed, and then a tall lady dressed in Cleopatra-like clothes appeared from the shadows. She was beautiful, and her eyeliner resembled that of an Egyptian cat.
"You might want to be careful of Sally." She mentioned, pouring out a bottle of Dr. Pepper.
"Love?" James snapped me back to reality, I was staring into his eyes. "You gave me a fright there dearest, you looked like you were gone with the stars." He rubbed my arms gently, keeping me grounded.
I scrunched up my face. "Uh, yeah..I think." My head started to ache, so I rubbed my temples to calm the pain down. But as I did so, James picked me up swiftly, like he did when I passed, and laid me on the bed, like a starfish. It felt embarrassing having my legs so open for him, even though he was quite used to it. "What did you do that for?" I quickly asked though, being stubborn with myself.
He just smiled and went down to my thighs, kissing every single scar he could see. No words were spoken, but I know what he was doing. Trying to make me feel better. He placed a gentle kiss on all the faded lines, but each one was full of love. He occasionally looked up at me, his eyes made my heart flutter. But he made his way up my arms, both of them and ended it all with a deep kiss on my lips. I had to return it, for making me feel so loved.
"you're perfect my love, these mean nothing anymore, okay?"

WHEN I SEE YOU AGAIN ➜ peter parker, mcu
requested: yes / no — not goodbye. just "see you later"
author's note: i was listening to remi wolf as one does and down the line came on.. and i got the amazing idea to write this. you're welcome! debating whether i should make a part two. . .
ⓘ content: fem!reader, angsty, mcu!peter, takes place during nwh mwahahaha, not proofread
word count : 1.4k || peter parker masterlist
"you're gonna forget who i am," peter blurts out.
"what?" ned says. mj stares at him, a cut on her forehead dripping blood onto her eyebrow.
"peter, what do you mean?" you ask, voice shaking. so much had happened today; you just wanted to go home, take a shower, and curl up in bed with your boyfriend.
"it's okay," he whispers, taking your hand. "i'm gonna come and find you, and i'll explain everything. i'll make you remember me. it'll be like none of this ever happened. okay?"
you shake your head at him. "what are you talking about?" you say quietly. "what– what do you mean, we're gonna forget you?" your voice cracks.
"i'll explain everything when i find you," he repeats. his eyes are welling up with tears. he turns to ned.
"promise?" your friend asks.
"i promise." peter drops your hand quickly to embrace his friend. when they pull away, tears are rolling down both their faces.
peter turns to mj. "i'll come find you."
she steps forward and hugs him. "you better," she warns. "or– or i'm just gonna figure it out."
peter lets out a shaky laugh. "i know you will." he finally turns to you.
"ange–" he starts, but you throw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him. his hands drop to your waist, pulling you flush against his chest.
when you finally pull away, he gives you a soft smile. "i love you. don't forget it."
with sobs threatening to spill out of your mouth, you shake your head. "i don't want to. peter," you beg. "isn't there anything we can do?"
he shakes his head, watery eyes staring into yours. "i'm sorry," he murmurs. "i love you," he repeats.
"i love you too," you whisper, burying your face in his chest. he kisses your head, murmuring reassurances.
"i promise i'll fix this," he says. you look up through blurry eyes, taking in your boyfriend one last time. the boy who had been by your side for the past year and a half, building star wars legos, having study dates, binge watching movies. the boy you loved.
he looks behind you, at mj and ned. his face settles into stony determination. "take care of her. of– of each other," he says.
"we will," ned promises. mj gently places a hand on your back.
peter swallows, his adam's apple bobbing. he lets go of your waist. he jumps up onto a piece of a fallen wall, turning back to look at you one last time.
"bye," you say quietly, salty tears streaming down your face.
he shakes his head. "not bye. see you later."
he swung away, leaving the three most important people in his life crying behind him.
2 WEEKS LATER.
the door jingles as someone pushes it open, letting a cold gust of air in the cafe. mj shivers as the air reaches her bare arms.
"it's so fucking cold out," she complains, pouring coffee into a cup. you snort.
"that's why we're inside, mj," you remark, taking a bite of your donut.
she rolls her eyes at you. "you should do stand up," she says, snapping the lid onto the cup and sliding it across the countertop to a waiting customer. "when's ned getting here?"
you check your phone for any texts. "soon. he say's he's almost here."
right as you say that, the door jingles again, and you turn to see a boy holding the door open for ned. "he's here!" you say to mj. she rolls her eyes again, smiling. she turns to the other boy, who looks strangely familiar.
"hey," ned says, sliding into the seat next to you.
"hi," both you and mj reply. she gives the two of you a small smile before turning to look at the boy, who's glancing between you, ned, and mj.
"can i help you?" mj asks. the boy looks slightly startled, but shakes his head and smiles.
"hi!" he clears his throat. "um. hi. i'm peter parker and i....." his voice falters as he looks at you. he takes a deep breath. "i would like a coffee, please," he says.
mj side eyes you and ned, who bites back a laugh. "okay, no problem, peter parker." she turns to grab an empty cup and moves to the coffee pot.
as she does this, you notice the boy, peter's, eyes quickly flitting between you, her, and ned. his eyes lock with yours and you raise an eyebrow, a small smile playing on your lips.
he clears his throat again, looking away. mj hands him the coffee and tells him his total. he pats down his pockets before pulling out a wallet and handing her a few crumpled bills.
"thank you..." he says slowly.
"no problem," mj replies.
he looks at ned's sweater, the mit logo emblazoned on the front. "you excited for mit?" he asks.
"huh?" ned turns to him, then looks down at his sweater. "oh, yeah. which is weird. usually i'm not excited about things. i kind of expect disappointment."
peter takes a sip of his coffee. you see his nose scrunch up slightly. he hates black coffee, you think. you blink. what was that? how would you know that? you shake your head ever so slightly, telling yourself that its a normal reaction to pure black coffee.
tuning back into the conversation, you hear him ask mj, "are you okay?" he's looking at the bandaid on her forehead.
"yeah," she says simply. "don't remember how i got it, but it doesn't hurt anymore."
"thats good," he replies. a silence settles over the coffee shop, the only sound being the wind outside.
"is there anything else you need?" mj asks him.
"um." he glances at you again. "no, actually. thank you."
"no problem. see you around," she says, grabbing a washcloth and starting to wipe down the counter. peter pushes the door open, the bell jingling, and steps into the cold new york air.
immediately, mj turns to you, leaning her elbows on the counter. "he was checking you out," she says bluntly.
"what?" you feel your cheeks get hot. "no way."
ned poked you in the side. "yes way. he was totally into you!"
you shake your head, laughing at the two of them. "yeah, alright."
the three of you laugh. you had to admit, he was pretty cute. but you probably would never see him again, so what was the point in getting caught up with a crush?
walking back to your apartment, you shove one hand in your coat pocket and use the other to fish your key out of your bag. you trudge up the stairs, thankful for the shelter from the freezing, snowy air outside.
as you reach your floor, your hear the landlord say, "rent is due on the first of the month. don't be late." he brushes past you as you make your way towards your apartment.
peter from the coffee shop was standing outside the door in front of yours, struggling to balance a box and slip the key into the lock.
"oh, hey!" you say. he turns to you and nearly drops the box. you grab it before it hits the floor. "need any help?"
his face flushes. "oh– uh, yeah, that'd be great." you smile at him as he fumbles with the key, finally getting it in the lock and twisting the knob. he pushes the door to his apartment open, holding it open for you. you set the box down on the kitchen counter, then turn to him.
"i'm y/n," you offer.
"peter," he replies. he hesitates before holding his hand out for you to shake. you laugh at his nervousness. it was kind of endearing.
"nice to meet you, peter," you smile, taking his hand. "hey, if you need any help moving in—" you point across the hall, to your door. "—i'm right over there."
he smiles. "that'd be great." he glances down at your still joined hands and flushes slightly. he lets go. you stand together in his empty apartment for a few moments.
"well, i'll see you later?" you say, a hopeful smile on your face.
"yeah, yeah," he nods quickly. "sure."
"cool," you smile. "well, bye!" you step out of your newfound friend's apartment, fishing your key out of your pocket.
"see you later," you hear him murmur. smiling to yourself, you unlock your door and slipping inside and shutting your door. you can't wait to tell mj about this.

True Detective: Shadow Land
Chapter 1: Welcome To Hard Times
(After True Detective: Night Country) Chief Elizabeth Danvers finds herself going back to revisit some old demons when missing Inapiut children go missing that tears the town of Ennis, Alaska apart. An unofficial sequel story following Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro aka my pitch for season 5 with them.
A/N: I'm a very big fan of Moby's music so hearing "This Wild Darkness" in episode 4 was like watching your team win the Superbowl
August 2, 2024
It had been several months since Danvers had last heard Holden’s voice beneath the ice. She had thought she was finally able to move on from him. She thought she was at peace. No nightmares since that surreal night at Tsalal station. Every once in a while she would have visions of Clark’s frozen body out on the snow. Tonight was different. Her dreams would be about Evangeline now. She hasn't seen her since April when Liz disappeared after she said goodbye at Liz's lake house. Tonight's dream was of Evangeline and Holden together, it was sweet, they were smiling together. Just the three of them in the dream. No one was hurting them.
Liz woke up to the daylight shining through the floor to ceiling windows, squinting her eyes hoping to see Navarro on the porch. Nothing. She picked up her phone checking to see if she got anything from her. She couldn't stop thinking about them. What they were. It was more than friendship. Liz couldn't help but admit inside she missed her greatly, that she wished she knew where she was. Would Navarro even want to be found? Liz didn't want to jump to the thought that she could be dead somewhere. Navarro could hold her own. She knew that.
“I can't come back to Ennis.”
Those words shook Liz to her core, but she understood why. The town was a fever dream. People will disappear and it will be considered normal.
Liz got dressed in her weather appropriate clothes that were not her uniform this time. Black jeans and a canvas black jacket. Although it was going into fall, she hadn't been able to see her for the majority of the summer. The blonde dialed up her number once again waiting for someone to talk on the other end.
“The number you have reached has been disconnected-”
“Fuck!” Liz slammed her phone down and chugged down the last of the coffee in her mug and thought about everything related to the younger woman that had happened. She couldn't bear to think about the night at Tsalal without breaking down in tears about it. She felt stupid for having emotion at 7 in the morning. She thought about going to look for her. Holden's bear. Shit that's right she left the bear at her house. As Liz sped down the terrible roads, she thought about the conversation with Navarro the last time they spoke at the lakehouse. How they both looked at each other with tears in their eyes. Danvers cried herself to sleep that night, holding a pillow like it was her partner's body. The next day she continued her job at the station like nothing had happened. She shoved it all the way in the back of her memory where she wouldn’t be able to think about it for awhile, until the next time she had a mental breakdown in the kitchen, in the breakroom when no one else was around. Evangeline left one written note. A few lines about how she cares about her and that she hopes she’ll be okay, and that it’s okay to be not okay.
“You know where to find me.”
***
The crisp air hit Liz’s face as she exited the suv, she found that the door was once again unlocked. Nothing had changed. She hasn't visited in at least a month. Liz had come to accept that her partner would never come back. This morning it looked like her view would continue down that path.
Liz felt another ache in her heart as she went back home to start her day. She swore to herself she wouldn't cry again about her unless her body was found.
She managed to push down her feelings once again by ignoring all those thoughts, she's been doing what Evangeline told her to do in the letter. Go to therapy, but Liz hasn't been very truthful to the therapist either. She'd mostly try to only talk about Leah as if Navarro never existed. Nothing has helped with forgetting her for the most part. She's alone all the time except for when Leah will come home late at night, usually past 12.
***
Liz closed the door behind her only to feel someone's hot breath on the back of her head. She didn't dare to turn around.
“Don't scream.” The figure said.
Liz could recognize that voice from a mile away. She couldn't bear to let it out now but her voice cracked. “Let me see you.”
“Turn around Liz.”.
Liz turned around. The woman she mourned was standing in her living room. They looked into each other's souls. For a moment Liz swore she could feel her body get warmer.
Evangeline began to speak. “You forgot I'm a lockpicker-”
Liz slapped her. She didn't know why, but it felt right. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. She observed the younger woman's face. She looked like she hasn't slept in a long time, like she's spent her night staying up focusing on something she cannot control. Liz stared at her in disbelief.
“The fuck is wrong with you! You can't even wake me up to say goodbye? Instead you- left me a note- I searched for your ass for months!” She yelled not caring if she spat.
“I know you have-”
“Oh? So you've been spying on me too? I thought you were dead! That it had been that long since anyone saw you and that you were out on the ice somewhere. I fucking mourned for you! I didn't know if you were hurt…if you were struggling, if you were- fuck!” She ran a hand through her hair. Her lips trembled with pain.
Navarro took note and lowered her head. “I know you went to my house today. I've been watching you since I left basically. I only came back because someone asked for my help, and that's why I'm here-...”
Liz went to the kitchen and popped some vitamins while she was listening until there was silence. “What? They're vitamins. I'm an old fart, if I want to keep movin’ I gotta take these.”
“I know. Which by the way, watching you try to put on your shoes is entertaining as shit.”
“Fuck you…oh Jesus you didn't see me during bedtime did ya?”
“No, I looked the other way. Anyways I'm here because I need your help on this case with the Inupiat. This cannot be involved with Prior and everyone at the station. Just us.”
“Oh fucking hell- you come back here and expect me to join you after this shit?” Liz shook her head.
“I didn't. The women do. The children are missing, Liz.”
“Then why don't they call us?”
“They don't trust y'all to help, except you. Only because you were with me and gave the autopsy info to them.”
Navarro walked to her and reached for her hand but Liz pulled away quickly.
“Liz I-”
“No…no. Not after this…” Liz wiped her eyes. “Some nights you're here with me, and we would talk. I actually hated myself for how I treated you.”
“I thought about you. All the time. I haven't stopped thinking about you, Liz. Trust me, I did. I still hold on to what happened at Tsalal.” Her voice cracked too. “I felt you slip away from me-”
“Shut up. Stop it…” Liz put on her utility belt and walked out the door. “Get in the car and drive me wherever.”
***
“You…have you been sleeping?” Liz turned to face her, looking at the black eye that was fading away. “Who hit you? I'll kill em.” Before Liz could think about what she was going to say, she spat it out.
Navarro glanced at her and sighed. Liz hasn't been this attentive in forever. Especially threatening a nonexisting perpetrator. That was new. “I got hit by a fucking tree branch, and no, I haven't.”
“You shouldn't be driving.”
“I'm fine.” She got uncomfortable quickly. “So, who was that woman parked out of your house on Monday? Nice looking woman, quite young right?”
“Jesus Christ Navarro. That's my cousin, and she's in her 50s.”
“Oh. Well I was curious because it was weird that you closed the curtains.” She assumed the hotness ran in her family.
“Why were you spying on me in the first place?
“Long story but short story is I was making sure you were okay.”
“Uh huh.”
Liz leaned her head against the seatbelt strap and thought about what Navarro could have seen at her house.
“It's been several months. How's dating? I mean we know you've fucked every guy in town so I don't know who else is left unless Ms Danvers is into women-”
“Can we just not talk? I haven't seen anyone since before Tsalal. Now shut it.”
“That's surprising.”
“What part of shut it do you not get?”
“Hey I'm just trying to ease back into conversations. I don't care about what sex you date Liz…I just, really fucking missed you and I didn't have a choice about a lot of things. I missed a lot of things…we’re here.”
***
As they stood at the doorstep Navarro leaned towards her. Liz was taken aback until she realized she was fixing her shirt under the jacket. Navarro toyed with the zipper and held Liz by the biceps.
“What are you doing?”
“You're skinny. You need to eat more.”
Liz scoffed and released from her grasp. “Sorry I wasn't eating because I was scared shitless about you. Thinking my friend was dead!”
Navarro crossed her arms acting like she was trying to assert dominance. “You haven't changed one bit since Tsalal. A woman in this field needs to be built for the job.”
“You should've told that to Connelly when he was still working there ya know?”
“We're not talking about him-”
The door opened in front of them. Liz ran her hand through her hair again and straightened her back. Liz changed almost completely since Tsalal. Peter would say she was extremely generous towards the other cops, her sarcasm and bluntness was still there but she thought of others thoroughly and made sure everyone at the station was good to work each day.
“-...” Liz didn't speak. She could already feel the horror through the pain in the woman's eyes.
“Last time we talked I believe it was about an autopsy?”
“That is correct…ma'am.”
She moved out of the way to let them in where her and Navarro sat down in the chairs they were in last time. Liz took off her hat and looked around the room, the same 11 women were there. They had looks on their face full of sadness, confusion, rage. Liz felt their pain, she felt the same sorrow when she lost her baby boy. She gulped and looked at Navarro, who had several small scabbed cuts on her face, hair looked dirty. Liz’s gaze was directed when Sutres Meli knocked on the wood.
“I’m going to be very blunt, white woman. Our children are missing. All of their children are missing. They’re disappearing from us. We don’t know how or why. We want answers, we want them back.”
Liz gulped and took out her small notepad from her pocket with a pen. “I would like to talk to each of the parents.”
“Fine, but we want justice. We want our babies back alive.”
“Ms. Meli, I’ll do what it takes to find them-”
“Alive.”
Liz nodded and Sutres removed herself from the seat. Each woman would sit across from her at the table where they each gave their name, name of the kid, where they were last seen, when they vanished. Every possible detail of what happened. This went on for about 45 minutes. Most of them broke down into tears as they spoke. When Liz was done Navarro leaned into her ear. “We can’t bring the feds into this.”
Liz was puzzled. “Why?”
“Because everyone outside this house thinks I’m dead.”
“You’re going to return to society if you like it or not, I don’t have time to put up with this.”
“You don’t get to decide that Liz!”
“Cut the shit Navarro! We have 23 missing children! Just in this town! We’ll talk about this later-”
One of the women came up to her. Eyes wetted. Liz changed her attitude. “Where Gavin disappeared, I want you to look at where he last was…”
“Take me.”
***
The woman walked them to the house where Liz got a glimpse of his room, the childhood innocence left behind by sorrow. Liz looked at the walls. The child's paintings from school pinned to a bulletin board.
Liz held it together well being reminded of painting with Holden. She had to stop, to get over him already, he died almost a decade ago and she was still mourning. “A mother’s love for her child never fades.” She ran her fingers over the paper, the constant reminder that Holden was gone and all that was left was his paintings. Liz snapped out of it when the mother gathered her attention to the back shed.
“I asked him to bring in our broken flower pot, we were going to fix it up- After 10 minutes of him not coming back inside, I got worried so I came out here and…he’s gone.”
Navarro looked inside, the pot of dirt shattered on the wooden floor. “Something ain’t right about this Liz.”
“No shit…” She mumbled. Liz observed the wooden floor, rather it being like a weird residue splashed on to it creating an oily finish. Crouching down looking closer at it, a red dot caught the corner of her eye. She looked closer, A dried drop of crimson.”
“Liz…”
Liz’s heart sank. Did this mean anything could be permanent? No. Did it mean something. Yes. In Liz’s eyes this person must’ve been very good at this, has obviously done it before. The sun beated through the clouds and on to her back, starting to get warm and overwhelmed. “You have a UV light on you by any chance?”
“It’s a keychain-”
“That’ll work.”
Liz pressed down on the button and let the ultraviolet light hit the work. Smears of blank residue were on the wood. Liz knew from her years what this was but it was extremely rare since when most people clean up blood it never goes away, but there’s one chemical that can get rid of it entirely. “What is it?” Navarro observed her face.
“Whoever this is…they know what they’re doing. Do you know what this is Ange?”
Evangeline was surprised by that nickname. Liz hadn’t used it since before Eve killed that bastard back when they were on good terms. “No Liz.”
“I’m not 100% sure, but this person almost left no evidence. There’s one chemical that can get rid of what blood leaves behind. The stuff in Lysol, hydrogen peroxide, and no, not straight out of the can, but the unfiltered, pure chemical. You can’t inhale that shit. Nor can you get it at a Walmart. Shit, you need a special license I think, I don't’ know. I think you can only get it by being a chemistry teacher or something.”
“So, time to call everyone?”
Liz gave her a stare. “Yes. I’m calling Prior and you’re going back to my place, you’ll stay hidden if that’s what you really want, but come up with a story fast if you want to come back…I want you to come back. We miss you…” Liz looked away from her and stood up to call the station. “We need everyone on this. 23 children missing, so far. I have a shed I need specialists on.
***
Pete Prior talked to them first. Evangeline decided to make a return to society and came up with a decent story of how she just wanted to disappear. Pete hugged her and had a full reunion. Liz gave a soft smile and talked to the rest of the cops. Connelly was gone thank god. He got fired at the very least. By the time everyone took notes from the families it was dark out and getting cold fast. Liz heard whispers about how Trooper Navarro was back from the dead or some shit like that. Her blonde strands of hair got in her face, she admired Navarro’s presence from afar. Liz stood by herself on the rocks and put her gloves on. “Everyone! This is the biggest case Ennis has seen. We owe it to these people big time. Our respect, their children. They’re good people. I will do whatever it takes to find these children. We all need to work together, but for now we need to get the feds involved. We cannot do this on our own!”
***
Liz walked over to Peter by the pickup truck and patted his back. He had one of those satellite phones that could call anyone anywhere. She always found that cool. “You on the phone with em?”
Pete hung up.
“So this is what you've been up to all day?”
“You got a problem?”
“I'd just appreciate it if you would let me know about this stuff beforehand?”
“I'm sorry, okay?” The corner of Liz's mouth stretched making a guilty face.
Pete sighed. “They’re going to be here next Thursday. For the whole team. A smaller team will be here Sunday.”
“Shit. Well it’s better than nothing. I’m going home. Fucking late, haven’t eaten anything today. Taking Navarro with me. Don’t let anyone know okay?”
“Of course Chief…be safe?”
Liz nodded before walking off. “Goodnight Pete.”
***
The car ride back to Liz’s lake house was silent. Liz couldn't believe everything that was happening. She wasn't built for this anymore. She wants to scream into the sky, to disappear into the night, it was all bringing back old memories. Now that Navarro was back she couldn’t bring herself to say the whole speech she prepared.
When they entered the house Liz took off her jacket and gave Evangeline a look. “You smell. Go take a shower. Your box of clothes is in the spare bedroom, your name's on it. I’ll make dinner.”
Evangeline felt extremely fortunate that someone cared for her this much. “Liz”
She popped open a beer from the fridge and looked up. “What?”
Navarro was going to say something about her drinking but when she saw her soft face with hardened edges, she let it go. “Thank you.”
For the first time in awhile Liz smiled the softest she could. The memories flooded back to them both. “We're friends right? You don't have to thank me.” Liz set down the beer and walked over to the much taller woman. Liz didn't think at the moment and caressed her cheek. “I'm just happy you're really here. That's all that matters in this moment.” She tried not to cry, she’s saving the tears for later. Right now she’s happy.
***
A half hour later Evangeline came out of the shower. Liz changed into some sweats, wanting at least some comfort in the dark hour. She made the burgers on the George Foreman grill and made the burger just how Navarro liked it; spicy ranch and pickles. Finding comfort in making the table made her feel mother-like in a way again. She shook the image of Holden from her head and sat down. Reading the texts on her phone. Peter saying how all of the crime scenes have traces of dried blood left behind. Everything that could come from that would be a horrible assumption.
Elizabeth Danvers: Ok. Get some sleep. Goodnight.
Evangeline came out of the room shortly after. Dressed in the sweat clothes she Left behind at her house from before. Liz looked up and stared at her. Taking off her glasses to get a better look. She looked breathtaking with her hair down, free from dirt and all. The tall woman sits down and digs into the burger. She clearly hasn't eaten real food in a long time.
***
Dinner was a silent fest unfortunately. Just nothing being said. Liz kelt waiting for Evangeline to say something but it was a bust.
After dinner Liz followed Evangeline to the bedroom where she just simply fixed up her bed for the other woman. Liz picked up Holden's polar bear and played with the off white hairs. Liz grew uncomfortable and broke the silence.
“Can I ask a question? Just one…”
“Okay?”
“Did you have anywhere to stay?” She asked in a quiet, soft tone.
“Some dude's place. His place sucked.”
Liz nodded. “Are you hurt?”
“You said one question.”
“Okay I lied.”
“No…but I could use a massage right here?” Evangeline pointed to a part on her back above the shoulder blades. Liz patted the bed so Navarro could sit down while the older one tended to her. Liz pressed her fingers and thumbs deep into the sore areas, she let out whimpers of pain trying to not let them out of her mouth.
Liz gulped and rubbed the space between the collarbone and shoulder blades. Trying not to hurt her too much. Navarro flinched under her fingers with a hiss.
“Want me to stop?”
“Yeah.”
Danvers swung over her legs so she sat directly next to her on the bed. “I'll sleep on the couch tonight-”
“No you don't have to.”
“But I want to. You need lots of sleep, sleep in if you want. It's no use when you're nodding off on an empty stomach and all on a case. I know what that's like.”
“Okay Danvers.”
“You tired of talking to me?”
Evangeline gave her a glare. “Liz, I don't give a shit about that. It's just, I never wanted to die, I wanted to never be heard from again, but when Sutres came to me about it, I just did not want to believe, but I always wanted to come back to you. I can't stop overthinking about this, it has been haunting my sleep”
“Ange it's okay. Get some sleep. Here.” Liz put Holden's bear in her lap and rubbed her back. “He missed you too.”
When Liz left the room, Evangeline cried a little bit about Liz trusting her with the plush. About how Liz was so gentle with her, how she caressed her face. Evangeline liked her quite a lot, she grew on her over their shared time together. Before Wheeler, she truly was a mentor of hers. She knew Liz like the back of her hand. She thought about her dirty blonde strands of her hair, how they rounded her face so nicely, how her eyes crinkle when she smiles. Danvers was an attractive woman, no doubt about that, especially for her age. She was a sarcastic, blunt person and Evangeline was addicted to her attitude. How she presented herself. She took shit from no one. Being attracted to that legal senior was hard work. She soon fell into a deep slumber. She was back at Tsalal where that night would become the event that would haunt her.
"I'm sorry..." The older woman said. Almost a whisper. Her voice destroyed, sounding so hoarse, the pain and guilt finally leaked out.
Navarro held her close. She could feel her cold breath hit her skin. "I got you. I got you. It's okay." She turned her head so her lips were resting on her forehead. She gave Liz a peck and rubbed her back. The sound of her cries blended in with the howl of the wind outside.
***
When Evangeline woke up she heard the sound of splashing outside. The sun leaked through the crack in the curtains, the ray of sunshine hitting her directly in the eye. She pulled herself out of bed wondering what could make that sound. She unlocked the door and opened it. It was very mild out for Alaska, a wind chill for sure, but this time of year was nice. Out of the corner of her eye she saw water splashing from the lake by the end of the dock.
“Danvers!”
She ran to the edge of the dock getting ready to jump in when Liz's head came up from under the water. She had a grin on her face that confused Evangeline. “Were you about to come in and save me?”
“I thought you were drowning!”
Liz chuckled as she swam over to her, lifting herself out of the water and standing herself up on the dock. “Can you hand me my towel?” She asked about, being in some cargo shorts and a sports bra. She caught Evangeline staring at her soaked figure.
Navarro handed her the towel and shook her head. “What the hell are you doing out here?”
“Swimming?”
“That water is freezing. Do you do this everyday or?”
“I started when you left. I found myself afraid of water so my therapist recommended me doing some exercises for getting used to it again.” Liz saw Evangeline wasn't even looking her in the eyes but paying attention to her strong core. Liz dried herself and snapped her fingers. “Hey I'm talking. What? You surprised I'm not a skinny ass anymore?” Evangeline wanted to touch those rippling abs but god only knows what thoughts in her head would pop up later.
“You're still a skinny ass.” She quipped.
Liz rolled her eyes and whipped her on the ass with her towel. “Asshole.”
