I didn’t have a cell until late in high school in the 2000s, and my third and last flip I was still using in 2022.

The biggest difference has been in the amount of psychological draw designed into the functions and interface of a smartphone. The apps, notifications, and bombardment of information coming through it are intentionally pulling attention, convincing you of the habit to check and use it for everything. Just because the functions are there isn’t a good enough reason to integrate everything into dependence and passively provide information out of convenience.

This is to say nothing about the ballooning of services and fees on devices that have increasingly short lifespans. The phone aspect of the technology isn’t even close to the primary purpose anymore--it has a lot of meaningful and useful functions for communication to be sure, but comes at a cost to our personal and mental space.

Focus is no longer on usefulness, durability, and repair. They’re not just physically getting more fragile, but the development supporting them moves at a faster pace and the hardware isn’t designed to keep up. Functionality breaks or the device does. The same could be said about a lot of unnecessarily smart devices but none have had the reach of the internet or the cellphone.

We’d probably do a lot better by limiting and compartmentalizing what devices can do again for our own health, safety, and privacy. The ancient raging against new media technology being a net harm has never met something as pervasive or manipulative as the smartphone.

Kinda crazy how my first cellphone didn't have a camera or internet and 17 years later this thing knows more about me than I do and gives people brand new mental ilnesses.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? some positives about the atla live action series bc as much as i am a hater it's not good for the soul or the critical thinking skills to only hate things forever

the costumes are phenomenal. I really love all the live action character designs, they look fantastic

a lot of these young characters LOOK really really young, which is important. aang is a kid and they cast a kid and he looks like a kid. azula looks very young - in the cartoon (esp when you're a kid) you don't really think about it but she is a child. it's important that they're kids

some of the cgi looks really good!!! the wide shots of omashu look cool as hell and I know some people hate how the bending looks but I think it looks great. it was always gonna be hard to translate to live action but I think the cgi bending looks about as perfect as it could

One manifestation of anti-transmasculinity I see again and again, primarily in discussions about the existence/denial of anti-transmasculinity is the treatment of transmascs in the same way cis men treat feminists as hysterical women and rad/feminists treat men as ignorant beasts. Of course these really just echo each other in that the other is deemed lesser but it's really in the wording.

Well, it rather depends on the person. In general scope multiple orgasms are one after another, or multiple in one session of sex. For most people there’s a cooldown before the next one but I’ve heard some women describe a more continuous experience that has peaks and valleys so it’s more like several different orgasms rather than one long one.

Smut is extraordinarily fond of portraying a lot of orgasms because the idea is sexy and appealing, but I’ve heard many more people tell me they’re one and done. There’s an idea that other people are having buckets of orgasms when it’s like, maybe a few folks are, but it’s not the norm.

The thoughts I have about John the emperor colonizing space and remaking it in his image giving Gideon a Māori name (and not just a Māori name, but specifically a Christian biblical Māori name) as part of his claiming and remaking of her. Gideon/Kiriona being ethnically Māori ⁠— like, genuinely the daughter of someone ethnically and culturally Māori as that concept exists in the 21st century ⁠— but having no frame of reference for what that means because Māori culture has been dead for 10,000 years and her father killed it and stands as its last survivor. The last living person in the universe to be explicitly canonically Indigenous to Aotearoa gives his daughter a name in its language as a means of staking the flag of his empire on her and enlisting her into its colonial forces. That "racism of low expectations" point can be applied to more than Westerners patting their little Jihad Meow Meows on the head by the way. I think it also applies to American Jews, usually assimilated, acting like Israel is this Entity and not a country made up of mostly Middle Eastern Jews, people. When they do acknowledge that Israelis are people who aren't just acting in the interests of an all powerful governmental animus, they act like all Israelis are bloodthirsty frat bro soldiers wreaking havoc in Gaza because they think it's fun.

Because what is this? This tweet was in response to the chaotic backlash against Jonathan Glazer, who espoused a nearly identical sentiment. That sentiment being: Israel is using our Jewishness for some nefarious political purpose. It's not fair! We didn't sign off on GENOCIDE! How dare they use us to do this!

Israeli Jews are seen too unenlightened, too religious, too much of an embarrassment, to much of Diaspora Jewry. And yet at the same time their Jewishness is not even considered to be part of the political calculus of Israel at all? These not in my name types truly think Israel is a shadowy cabal of like 20 old white men (ironic) getting off on destroying lives and using as shields these poor innocent Americans and Brits, famously two peoples who've never twisted or corrupted the legacy of the Holocaust before.

They obviously have very hurt feelings that Israeli Jews dare to be Jews, to invoke their own Jewishness, Jewish values, to justify military action. They're not even really doing that? They want the hostages back. That is the primary concern if you poll Israeli citizens right now. And that's been the case pretty much every day since the pogrom. That's it. That's why they're saying Never Again. If that offends you as a Jewish person really let that steep. Really sit with your emotional reaction to Jews having a trauma reaction to traumatizing events and relating other events of Jewish trauma throughout history to that event. Ask yourself if it's appropriate to insinuate that they're using their Jewishness, sorry just YOUR Jewishness apparently, to make you look bad?

Israeli politicians have invoked the Holocaust outright, as a comparison. Because clearly the country whose "white" population is mostly made up of the descendants of Holocaust refugees has no business doing that? That's an affront to your name and your values?Again, why do you think everything is about you? Why do you think everything Israel does is even in your name in the first place? Is it American Brainrot Disease again?

You think Israeli Jews are so incapable of rationality and of yearning for social justice (they just want their family members back) that you erase them from the conversation. Israeli leftists are not real and are not working with Palestinians as we speak, and certainly aren't advocating for a ceasefire more successfully than anyone on this continent! Israeli politicians who speak to their constituents and use the shared cultural language of being Jews are trying to brainwash and influence Americans, because they have no constituents. Israel is just a bunch of racist politicians and a mercenary army that's trained to kill children specifically.

Like this is getting so annoying. It's clear they wish they could just excommunicate all Israelis, because they're Bad Jews. They want to take away their Jewish card, because that's not what Real Judaism stands for! And then they get offended when non secular Jews around the world dare question their Jewish identities in response to this behavior. Which I'm not condoning for the record, but how about you practice what you preach for once?
