I think the worst thing that I've learned second hand about arcane is that the two characters I was rooting for kinda leave off with less than they started out with (not in terms of power, but in terms of in-universe support) and also those same characters are being hit with irl racism/misognoir dog whistles by a certain part of the fandom, like damn.

The way some people are reacting to the Oscar nominations, specifically in regards towards Barbie, and many other things surrounding it holds certain undertones, especially when they then start to go and deny America Ferrera's talent among other things, that are very concerning. Like let's not do that. Especially if you're writing an article for a newspaper (LA Times) that makes digs towards the other films and their nominees, mainly who were women, and say that that proves the point of Barbie. Even though the point of the film was that women have to work harder than men just to get their foot in the door, not about shaming other women, but I digress.

in season 3 episode 7, charlie finds out that he is no longer an owner of paddy's pub. he sold half of his shares to mac, and half of his shares to dennis. instead of them telling him that this was probably not the best idea, they took advantage of him. they knew it would end up working in their favor, not caring about how this would affect charlie. how after this is admitted to him, and after charlie goes on a rant about it, the last thing he says before he walks away is "i can't stand you guys". he says it so casually, but with so much emotion, like he's not even surprised that this has happened. now this hurts for so many reasons, but once we get into the later seasons we see why it's extra awful, and how much dennis and mac have taken advantage of charlie in the past.

in season 15 episode 3 when charlie, mac, and dennis first bought paddy's, charlie was the one who had the most money out of all of them. mac had $4,000, dennis had $5,000, and charlie had $57,000. mac and dennis' first reaction after charlie offered to put that large amount of money into the pool was to tell him that it was an equal share. when charlie began to question it, they pushed back. convincing him that it was an even split even though he had questions. they took full advantage of his naivety, knowing that because of his lower iq and kindness that they would be able to take advantage of him.

charlie knows that he's easy to take advantage of, he knows that the whole gang does it. he's not surprised by it, but he's still hurt. he loves mac, dennis, dee, and frank so much but he knows that ultimately he's going to end up getting hurt or betrayed by them. it always happens, so why should he be surprised ??

what hurts me the most is the way that mac, his childhood best friend, someone he views as a brother, constantly takes advantage of charlie's "stupidity" and is embarrassed by his actions. charlie is so used to the people he loves hurting him, so he lets it happen over and over again.
