Cub omg. <3 I just find his voice so soothing and comforting, and bingeing through his episodes or watching his streams is very comforting for me. I'm really enjoying all the daily speedrunning streams atm bc they're on when I'm awake during the mornings for me, so I can have breakfast and chill with Cub and it's so so nice. <3

6. A TV show or movie you hope more people will watch

Double The Fist is an old Aussie TV comedy that I maintain is actually a metanarrative about the intersections of queerness, homophobia, and toxic masculinity (ESPECIALLY in the second series) that I am woefully inadequately skilled enough to actually write on, but trust me bro, everyone in the main cast is some flavour of queer and I'm here for it. It's very good.

bonus shout out for Set The Thames On Fire, bc it's such a good movie and more of you need to see it frfr. <3 There were some really, really interesting headcanons going around linking Noel's character in this movie back to his character in The Mighty Boosh as a bonus if you like that kind of thing.

The Last Party by A.R. Torre

In the midst of uncertainty and war, I have chosen not to read this well written psychological thriller because it is too dark for me to spend hours immersed in a world darker than my own. When I requested the book, it seemed perfect, and it might be perfect for me to read later BUT not today. I am safe where I am living but what is happening south of my home could move this direction…

ANYWAY…I read the first sixty pages, the last four or five chapters and sampled from the middle and can tell you that:

* Perla’s mind is NOT one I would want to spend more time in than I already have

* Her husband seems to be a good man but perhaps a bit of a patsy or pawn though bright academically and related to Perla through a shared past…sort of…and through their daughter, Sophie. He has a big decision to make, and I wonder if I would have done the same in his shoes

* Sophie, the daughter of Perla and Grant, is like a brilliant sponge soaking up information and ideas from both of her parents and she is willing to use that information for her own purposes…she left me wondering about her future and hoping that she would not end up like her mother…though she might if genes do play a part

* The writing is beautiful in that it draws you in, makes you feel part of the story, had me invested in the outcome, etc…though it was too dark for me to spend more hours with right now

 * What I did read had me wondering about nature versus nurture and how some people end up as they do…and hoping I never EVER run into anyone like some in this book…and also knowing I have

Ci sono in rete due diversi video che segnano il punto di non ritorno nella storia di Matteo Renzi e dei suoi rapporti con l’Arabia Saudita. Sono due testimonianze quasi stupefacenti, a dire il vero, soprattutto per chi conosce la sagacia comunicativa dell’ex premier. Costituiscono l’ennesimo capitolo sul caso saudita, un inspiegabile harakiri mediatico. Il primo video, quello da cui è tratto questa citazione, è l’intervista che da casa Renzi concede alla giornalista di Channel 4 News Fatima Manji andata in onda i primi di febbraio. Renzi è in poltrona, seduto comodo, in camicia e cravatta rossa, all’inizio sembra disinvolto. La giornalista gli chiede se davvero ha parlato di nuovo Rinascimento per l’Arabia Saudita. E lui risponde (calmo): “…Se lei segue la politica in quell’area, per la prima volta i sauditi con una leadership giovane provano a creare una visione per il futuro, capace di coinvolgere i diritti umani e l’emancipazione delle donne. E spero – aggiunge l’ex premier – che tutti supportino quella visione per il futuro”. La cosa straordinaria, dopo questa risposta, e questa vertiginosa iperbole, è l’imperturbabilità dell’intervistatrice. Che dopo un sibillino “Ok” gli chiede: “Quanto è stato pagato per questo evento con MBS?”. Domanda secca, dritta, senza giri di parole. Che arriva immediatamente dopo l’elogio alla politica saudita. Un ceffone metaforico. Il sottinteso è potente, proprio perché non è esplicitato. È la stessa domanda a cui Renzi da due mesi non aveva voluto rispondere in Italia, e lui si accorge immediatamente di questo messaggio che rischia di comunicare: “Faccio parte del Board del FII (Future Investment Iniziative Institute, ndr), e ho ricevuto, credo… 80 mila euro, forse dollari… ogni anno, come membro del comitato consultivo”. La giornalista non commenta. Lui prosegue: “Più o meno un normale compenso di ogni comitato esecutivo…”. La giornalista non aggiunge nulla, ma la faccia di Renzi dice tutto. E così lui, anche se lei non lo ha chiesto, sente il bisogno di giustificarsi.
