I love this! Sorry, it took so long for me to respond.

Here are the current pets of the Banks Dynasty. I take a lot of random pics of the pets, but I sometimes don't get to use them, so here are a few that were cut from the story.

Tami has a cat named Majesty and a horse named Finesse. The family dog is Hiro.

Freya: Nice! The spilled coffee movement! I’ll pass that along.

Tami is riding high on the admiration of the other students until Miss Gaston comes over and sits next to her.

Miss Gaston: Miss Banks, just a quick reminder—I dismiss you after class, not the bell!

Tami’s cheeks turn red. How does she keep up her cool persona without getting in trouble in front of everyone?

Tambara: Noted

Miss Gaston: Good, please keep it in mind.

Tambara: Isn’t that what noted means?

Miss Gaston grits her teeth and turns to Austin, giving Tami an escape. It’s already been a long day, and she’s exhausted from a lack of sleep last night. Maybe she can find someplace to take a quick nap before class.

Female Student: What’s your name?

Tambara: I’m Tambara, but my friends call me Tami.

Ariana: Nice to meet you. I’m Ariana. People can’t stop talking about you defying the system and wearing what you want today.

She didn’t do it on purpose. But if the other students think she did, she’ll let them.

Tambara: Really?

Ariana: Everyone hates these blue shirts. I definitely won’t be wearing mine next time.

The guy sitting across from them chimes in.

Gabriel: Me either! ‘Club shirt’ day sucks. I’m Gab.

Before Tami can respond to Gab, another girl sits next to her.

Freya: I’m Freya. You’re like a hero today! Has Principal Tanaka said anything to you?

Tambara: He asked where my shirt was and I told him I accidentally spilled coffee on it.

Freya laughs.

The cafeteria fills as Tami turns to find a table. She sees the guy from the hallway again and pretends to ignore him. She secretly hopes he'll sit next to her, but he sits across from Mr. Tanaka instead. She's at a table all by herself. But soon, another girl comes and stands next to her.

Female Student: Is anyone sitting here?

Tambara: Not unless they're invisible.

The girl giggles, taking it as a joke.

Female Student: Okay, thanks!

The lunch bell rings and Tami heads out the door immediately as Miss Gaston calls out behind her.

Miss Gaston: Miss Banks! I haven’t dismissed…

That’s all she hears before she lets the door close.

Tami steps into the mostly empty cafeteria and again considers leaving when she realizes she’s alone with the principal, Mr. Tanaka. She takes a deep breath and walks over.

Mr. Tanaka: Where’s your uniform, young lady?

She can’t respond like she did with the guy in the hallway, so Tami comes up with another excuse.

Tambara: I spilled coffee all over it.

Mr. Tanaka: Well, don’t let it happen again.

Without missing a beat or responding, Tami turns to the cafeteria worker.

Tambara: Can I please get the senior lunch special? Thanks!

The morning bell rings and Tami heads to her first class, checking her social bunny as she walks. She doesn’t have many friends there yet. Mostly just family. She’ll have to remedy that soon as well. She steps into the class and her eyes immediately spot the guy from the hallway this morning. If only she knew his name. Maybe Miss Gaston will call it out and she can find out what it is without asking him. Tami sits in the back row to watch him without him seeing her.

Tami walks into the cafeteria and sees that almost everyone at school is there. She looks down at her outfit and immediately becomes self-conscience. She’s a neutral stepping into a sea of blue. Maybe she should run and hide out in the library again. Or she could call her mom and tell her to bring her a blue shirt. But then she thinks about what she said to the boy in the hallway. If she wants to play it off, she needs to pretend she wore the wrong thing on purpose. She straightens her back, lifts her chin, and sits at a table.

But her confidence wavers when she glimpses the Austin kid being bombarded by another student begging for his autograph. Tami smirks at herself. Her outburst about Austin yesterday didn’t have a lasting effect. She’ll have to remedy that and knock him off his high horse.

Another student passes her as she’s sitting and studying.

Male Student: You don’t have the required gear today.

Tami doesn’t even look up from her page.

Tambara: Keep stepping if you know what’s good for you!

Tami isn’t in the mood and the guy seems to sense it. He walks away quickly.

Male Student: Maybe I should too. These shirts ain’t it.

Tambara: For real though

Tami steps away, leaving the guy standing there without asking his name.

Tami arrives at school and goes straight to her locker. There are always other students standing around in the hallway, but this time she turns and runs into a boy she didn’t see yesterday.

Male Student: How’d you avoid the dress code today?

Confused, Tami looks around at the other students and notices everyone else wearing blue shirts today. She must have missed the memo, but she can’t stand there looking stupid. She has to play it off.

Tambara: I do what I want to do.

The guy stares at her as if what she said is a foreign concept. Then he smiles slightly.

Male Student: That’s what’s up!

Tami is standing outside. I hurry over.

Wade: Good morning, princess!

Tambara: Hi Daddy.

Wade: I need to tell you something.

A panicked expression flashes across her face.

Tambara: Are you moving out already?

Wade: No, not yet. But I need to go away for a few days.

Tambara: Oh. Where?

Wade: I’m going to Henford to visit your gran and Pop-Pop.

Tambara: Can I come too?

Wade: I wish you could, but you have school.

Tambara: Oh, right.

The conversation is awkward, and I can't shake the need to invent a reason for going away that Tami will understand.

Wade: But guess what? Your Uncle Mase and Aunt Zoe finally had their baby! I’ll get to see them too. Want me to tell them you said hi?

Tambara: Yeah, and take pictures of the baby.

Wade: I will. I’ll be gone before you get home. But I hope you have a great day at school today. Okay?

Tambara: Okay, daddy.

This time it’s Tami who rushes to give me a big hug. I squeeze her extra tight and whisper into her hair.

Wade: I’ll miss you and I love you—always!

I wake up feeling good about my decision to spend some time back home in Henford. But the tough part is I need to let Tami know. Hearing about me moving out hurt her enough, but now I have to tell her I’m also going away for a few days. 

I shower, grab my packed bag, and prepare to head out. To my surprise, Tami’s cat, Majesty, is in the hallway outside the bedroom. I kneel to pet her.

Wade: How did you get in here?

I’m still not a cat fan, but this one isn’t so bad. Seeing her leads me to another conclusion.

Wade: This whole thing started when I brought you home, right?

One of my biggest mistakes purrs softly under my touch.

I step away from Majesty and head outside, hoping to catch Tami before she leaves for school.

Luca is right to guess there’s a lot more to Dub’s marriage issues. I also couldn’t see Maia leaving him just because Tami is a brat. But I am imagining how different things would have been if Dub had really listened to Luca back when they had the first conversation about his parenting skills.

Anyway, I’m here for all of Luca’s plans!

3.238 Sleuths

Desiree was still playing with the dogs when I finished eating and showed no signs of letting them go. I was eager to speak with Sophia and get some clues about the missing parts of Dub's story, so I encourage Desi to go to bed early and rest up for her big day. Surprisingly, she did not protest and went upstairs. I gave her a moment to change before following her.

"Everything packed for school?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Do you have your schedule?"

"It's right here. They emailed it."

"Good. Good. Don't forget to see the principal when you get there. Are you sure you don't want us to come?"

"I'll be fine, Daddy."

I sensed I was getting annoying, so I dropped it.

"Alright. Just checking. What do you want for breakfast?"

"Whatever is in the fridge is fine! You don't have to make a big thing out of it."

I put my arm around her.

"But I do."

"I love you, Des. You're gonna be great. Sleep well, okay?"

"Goodnight."

I went back downstairs and found Sophia waiting patiently in the kitchen.

"Is she okay?" she asked.

I snorted.

"You know she is. She said we don't have to make it a big thing. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she wanted to be rid of me."

"Silly. So, what's going on?"

The question un-paused all the previous questions I had before seeing about my daughter, and I was unsure of where to even begin. Hypotheticals always seemed to do the trick, so I tried one

"If I was a bad father, would you leave me?"

"What in the world are you talking about?" she asked.

"That's a real question. If Des grew up to be the brat of all brats, and it was my fault, would you kick me out?"

"Ummm..."

She thought about it for a long time, squinting her eyes and staring off into the corner of the room.

"I," she began. "Ruining my child would be quite hurtful, and I'd definitely be very angry with you for a while. Things may change between us, but..." She let out a long sigh. "I'm not sure I'd consider separation, though. At least not right away, maybe."

"Yeah. That's what I was thinking, too."

"Where is all this coming from?"

"Did Maia say anything to you when they were here? Like...problems they're having?"

"Problems? Not really. She mentioned some personal things, but nothing about their relationship. Honestly, it sounded like she was going through a midlife crisis. She mentioned struggling with her purpose and how to manage all her responsibilities while still being true to self."

"Hmph. That sounds very familiar."

"What's this about, Luca? What happened??"

I inhaled and let out a long, exasperated breath.

"She asked Dub to leave."

Sophia gasped.

"No! That's awful!"

"Yeah. I know he's not telling me everything, and I don't know what to think. It doesn't make sense! I just can't see her throwing him out because Tami is a brat. There has to be more."

"I agree. I remember you two talking about this."

"I knew you were listening!"

"How could I not! You were right there!"

"I'm just messing with you."

Thinking about my friend's disintegrating marriage was killing my vibe, so did a 180. We couldn't solve this in one night with the little information we had, so why continue talking about it?

"I have two very cool ideas," I said.

"Let's hear them!"

"Okay, first, Love Day is coming up, and I've been wanting to do a big family vacation ever since the kids could walk. What if we rent a big house and spend the weekend in Sulani?"

"Okaaay, I like this plan, but what does it have to do with Love Day?"

"I'm thinking, we get Less to watch the kids while we go on a date Friday night. Then Saturday, I take the boys, and you and Less take the girls, and we can do the woohoo talks. After that, we can do whatever. Then, Sunday is Beach Cleanup Day, so you and I can take all the kids to the beach while Less does whatever she wants."

"Woohoo? Already??"

"I know. I'm not looking forward to it, but I just know Less is gonna make me talk to them, anyway. Plus, kids today are a lot more grown than we were. It's probably not too early."

"Yeah, you're right. What was the other idea?"

"Alright, I know we said we would save the lottery money for the kids, but I've been thinking about that a lot lately. A million simoleons is a TON of cash! Do we really want to give kids fresh from high school hundreds of thousands of dollars?"

"Well...when you put it that way, maybe we do need to rethink it."

"Exactly. We have a little bit of time to consider how to do it, but in the meantime, I think we deserve to enjoy our money, especially since we have more time. We can start with our house dilemma."

"I've been thinking about it, too. I'm guessing you have an idea?"

"We love both our houses, yet would prefer not to live here anymore. What if we renovated our other house and add some elements we like about this house? We could have the contractors work on it while we're away and move in when we're back."

"I think I like this plan. Tell me what you're thinking of doing."

"Well, for starters, we could..."
