I am not sure how some of my followers will feel about this suggestion, but I do think it probably would be a good thing if Netanyahu was arrested and put on trial in the ICC. I think that he should probably even turn himself in.
I think most of us can admit that his behavior and contributions have done nothing but further a humanitarian crisis. Israeli people may be safer without him in power, and Palestinians deserve to see a man responsible for harming so many of them held responsible for his actions. At the very least, put on trial so he can defend himself, and he can be appropriately prosecuted.
Creating structures to keep powerful people held accountable, I think, has the potential to avoid holding entire nations or people responsible for the actions of a government or members of a government. That ship has already sailed - people started blaming Isreal for existing before it even started to exist, but perhaps it would set a good precedent.
The truth of the matter is that the recent actions of the Israeli government, and often military, under the direction of Netanyahu, have been horrific. They've contributed to extreme violations of the human rights of Palestinians, and I think because they've done that, they've endangered Israelis as well. It's not possible to separate either group from one another or from the land.
So now we're at a point where we need to figure out how to move forward in the best way for everyone. I think Palestinian and Israeli interests are aligned here - peace, compassion, coexistence, and accountability for those who directed and caused the destruction of Palestinian lives, and for those who participated in the destruction of Israeli lives. I wish we had structures to help hold accountable those who have inflamed and exacerbated the current crisis of antisemitism we find ourselves in too, which has endangered the lives and welfare of who knows how many Jewish people? I don't see the best path forward for accountability in that regard, besides many well-meaning non-Jewish allies standing up and speaking out.
Love to everybody. Peace for all. ❤️

The #ICJ targeting Israeli leaders—no matter who they are—is a dangerous precedent. Here’s why:
No Jurisdiction: Israel isn’t a party to the Rome Statute, and the ICJ doesn’t prosecute individuals. Using international courts this way undermines their credibility and legal integrity.
Selective Justice: Why focus on Israel while leaders of other nations commit atrocities without consequence? This double standard weakens trust in global justice.
Head of State Immunity: Prosecuting a sitting leader breaks with international norms, risking a dangerous politicization of the legal system.
Impact on Peace: Criminalizing Israeli leadership won’t bring peace—it will harden divisions, destabilize the region, and derail negotiations.
Asymmetric Warfare: Israel operates in a complex reality where nonstate groups like Hamas hide behind civilians while launching attacks. The full context matters.
I am a vocal critic of Netanyahu and his government, and I can also recognize that justice should never be weaponized for hateful and sinister agendas. Let’s uphold fairness and focus on real paths to peace. Call this out as it’s a threat to justice everywhere.

(something I need to be reminded of)
There’s a part of each one of us that’s made for God. And God alone. A part of us that can only be at peace when it’s full of God.
This is hardly news. It’s just how we’re made.
It was old news when St. Augustine wrote about it in the 300’s. “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”
It’s something that I’m acutely aware of.
To be honest, I’m usually acutely aware of it after the fact. After I’ve tried and failed (again) to find that peace. By trying to fill that part of me with something that isn’t God.
Sort of my own personal version of the same dynamic that we see play out on a large scale in today’s Gospel. With the moneychangers in the Temple. The thing is – whether we play it out on a large scale or on a personal level – it doesn’t work.
It never does.
You’d think that as many times as I have done this and it hasn’t worked, that I would have learned not to do it. That I would know better. That for once I would see it coming. And turn to God first.
Instead of turning to God, only after I’ve made a mess of things.
By trying to fill myself with something that Isn’t God. Again.
I wish.
There’s just something about me that falls for this one all too easily.
It’s why J.S. Park’s prayer hits home for me. Every time.
“Some days I pray, ‘Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ Other days it’s ‘Lord, please slap me upside the head, for I am an idiot.’”
