Hi, hope you're doing well 👋
I'm in my mid 20s, AFAB and have PCOS. I recently had penetrative sex for the first time. It was unprotected but I don't think he ejaculated inside (he said he didn't and I didn't feel like he did, but I wouldn't really know how that feels either).
I took a morning-after pill the next day (less than 12 hours after having intercourse), it contained ulipristal acetate.
Ever since then I've been really paranoid that I'm gonna get pregnant, I've been to my gynecologist since then and she said I should just wait for my next period and try to relax because the stress might delay my period even more (I'm not regular because of my PCOS, the most regular my periods are is usually like 40~ days apart but sometimes I skip a whole month entirely)
I'm not currently taking any medication for my PCOS (just folic acid), my gynecologist said after my next period ends she's gonna start me on birth control since I plan on becoming more sexually active and it will also help manage some of my PCOS symptoms.
I'm so scared of getting pregnant I've been having nightmares about it, pregnancy is one of my biggest fears (also I live in a place where abortion isn't legalized). I don't want to know the exact statistics because unless it's a flat 0% I don't think it would reassure me at all.
So I guess I just wanted to get some reassurance, someone to tell me it's very unlikely that I will get pregnant from this experience (there's no one in my real life I can go to for this). One of my worries is that since I have PCOS it somehow made the morning-after pill not work or something like that, I don't know, is that possible?
Sorry for the lengthy ask, thanks in advance for answering and have a nice day ❤️
Hi! Thank you, you too! 💕
Just so that you're aware, someone does not have to ejaculate inside you to cause pregnancy! Pre-ejaculate can also contain sperm, which is what can get you pregnant. It's rarer but can still happen.
You also don't necessarily have to feel it to tell if someone ejaculated inside of you. An easy way to tell is feeling inside of you with a finger and checking if there's cum, though if it was just pre-ejaculate or even just a very small amount of ejaculate, its much harder to tell.
I understand being scared of getting pregnant. It's unfortunately a common worry, especially in places without [free/stable] abortion access. Getting on birth control for that and your PCOS sounds like a good idea, I'm glad your doctor is being helpful!
Your PCOS isn't going to negate the morning-after-pill. Unless someone wants to jump on here to correct me, I've never read anything about PCOS messing with that. Actually, PCOS often makes it harder for people to get pregnant, Anon!
No apologies needed, thank you for trusting me to answer! I hope this helps a little, let me know if you have any other questions! <3

Whoever said IUD insertion isn't painful is full of shit and I would like to have words.
#Still glad I got it done given everything happening to our country#Though it's not for pregnancy reasons since my beloved husband already got the snip but hopefully to manage my PCOS#But fuck man#At least the doctor gave me the good stuff for the pain#Didn't stop this from being the worst pain I've ever experienced

Just me sitting here in church thinking about how many people are put on birth control to deal with hormonal imbalances instead of medical professionals putting in the work to figure out what’s going on when birth control has so many negative side affects
#btw if you have PCOS or endometriosis I’m not talking about you#if you don’t and your doctor put you on birth control to do something other than prevent pregnancy you should be asking questions

There’s something that doesn’t feel right about this post but I’m having a hard time putting it into words, I think for some people this kind of statement can ring true, but I don’t think saying that “periods do more harm than good” applies to everyone, I have a lot more to say on this subject…
I know I shouldn't be putting my two cents on a post from twitter since it's where most brain dead takes spark aflame, but this one bothered me quite a bit and I couldn't figure out why, but when something bothers me, I keep picking at it like a scab until it bleeds again and I figure out where I got the scab in the first place. Saying a statement that periods are causing harm makes people feel like there is something wrong with themselves and in a society thats already violently hateful towards women and femme bodies and any traits associated with those bodies, this doesn't help. I'm not here to romanticize having a period and because I know there's a lot of people with serious medical issues in which getting your uterus removed is totally valid and totally necessary depending on your choice/situation. But I want to acknowledge that in our capitalist society were always in a rush, things need to get done fast, hustle hustle hustle, and having a period (one that is not painful or along side other health issues) forces those to slow down, rest, and be in tune with our body, even if we don't want too, which is the complete opposite. Our current society is built around a cisgender males body which runs on a 24 hr cycle where as people who menstruate have different phases (follicular, luteal and ovulation) and run on a monthly cycle, which is deemed inconvenient and not efficient. I know of a lot people who mention that having a period has been a good indicator for their health and hormones, a reply under this tweet mentioned how this was a privileged take and that people who menstruate can't even have access to period products in developing countries, another said "now what?" Exactly, now what? Even if that statement was true, what are we supposed to do? A lot of women face mistreatment in healthcare, a lot of women are facing poverty and are not even able to afford healthcare, and if periods were causing us harm then we would all probably be lining up to get hysterectomies instead of buying period products that aren't even FDA regulated. Period pain has been used against us and weaponized against us in order to further dismiss pain that is associated with being a women/femme. This kind of statement, while it may ring true for some people, further teaches people to hate a natural occurring function of their bodies and further upholds this hateful misogynist society we live in.
Another side to note, the replies to this tweet are mostly people talking about their experiences of either getting a surgery or birth control, and never having to deal with their periods again which is great for them and I’m genuinely happy for them, and I’m glad I live in a era where people with periods have access to healthcare that gives them a better quality of life, but with all the good experiences, they are also agreeing with the original statement which in my opinion lacks empathy and compassion for those still having painful periods and are further re-enforcing this hate towards something naturally occurring for majority of the population, and even animals!
I’m not sure why I felt compelled to write this much about this topic, maybe its coming from a place of anger or maybe it’s the fact I’m a women who has done so much work on their body issues and also currently on my period (hehe! 🤗) but it’s been really frustrating to see women promote hating themselves just because their bodies don’t naturally function within a society that hasn’t considered them in the first place.

its like so fucked to me that PCOS is almost always diagnosed in middle aged women bc of fertility issues unless the person in question has a very obvious and severe case or lobbies their doctor at length about it. this would not be so upsetting to me if PCOS didn't massively increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes in a way that is largely preventable! or if PCOS didn't make it damn near impossible to lose weight, meaning many people have their symptoms dismissed be it for other health problems or PCOS symptoms themselves over something they have next to no control over.
#like its not just infertility insulin resistance fucking sucks#and it can definitely make periods hellishly painful in addition to being irregular#in severe cases (including mine) you can also develop menopausal symptoms or those of early pregnancy#like morning sickness hot flashes constant hunger#dont even get me started on PCOS in trans patients#ive found one. ONE case study on a trans man's PCOS treatment#and instead of answering any of the questions i had the seminar talked abt whether he was put on T too early the entire time#literally did not address the PCOS part a single time#studies are also almost always done on middle aged women bc they're the ones with a diagnosis#meaning if you're a teenager like me the results may not apply to you the same#that's if a study exists at all most of the drugs used for PCOS are for diabetics or menopausal women#and maybe one study of like 40 people exists on how it works for PCOS patients#usually geared towards ensuring regular periods and not what i care about (improved blood panels)#god its just. it fucking sucks having what is treated as like Ugly Fat Woman Disease with the way the medical field is!!#ESPECIALLY as a trans man

I think I need a trans-informed medical doctor to walk me through the whole testosterone and pregnancy journey with respect to my conditions.
I still don't know if I want or can go through phalloplasty. I don't know. I like my vulva most days, in weird ways. It's complicated. I'd love to have a dick, but also complicated - like I just don't trust in the state of phalloplasty and its results. I'd like to have it ALL, most of all.
I decided that I would get one of those trans-masc pumps next month. It shouldn't affect my fertility, and I can work on growth, without being on testosterone. (Besides, my PCOS without hormone suppression... is gonna get my T levels pretty high *crosses fingers* again.)
And I am going to start collecting data on my ovulation. I want a baby and family. My psychiatrist has told me several times this year that she'd help me on all fronts - including my depression from my trauma and hormones. I was waiting to be more financially stable... I must trust that I can be - I can leverage my skills and education - I can do this.
It makes me more depressed to not go toward my life goals tbh.

I should be able to get a hysterectomy if I want one. Like I’m 23yrs old, I have endometriosis and pcos, I’ve been begging for a hysterectomy since I was 16 and I should be able to get one without some fucking doctor saying I need to have kids first
And I can’t even get the only fucking medication that helps because doctors are so fucking transphobic around here. like instead of testosterone, which has been proven to help me several times, the only medication they’ll approve is the fucking depo shot which makes me bleed nonstop and does nothing to help any of my symptoms
#fuck the us healthcare system#and every fucking doctor that thinks they have the right to keep me in pain#also like I will not have children#I have no desire to bring life into this fucked up world#and even if I did my dysphoria’s bad enough without adding pregnancy#transgender#trans man#pcos#endometriosis

Sometimes I really love history, especially our ancestors' ideas for how to treat ailments. I was watching Royal Autopsy tonight and they were fumigating Mary I's pussy earlier to try cure her menstral issues. Like sure yeah, might as well try that because they don't have any better ideas nor the biological knowledge yet to actually help her.
#holly talks#in all seriousness though I do feel sorry for her because she really wanted to have a baby#she needed that catholic heir to cement the longevity of her goals#but god instead gave her endometriosis pcos and phantom pregnancies#like come on dude she's on *your* side#don't be a dick like that
