The show in question is historical drama Chaat Payak and all jokes aside, I cannot pass any real judgement on the show itself, as I have not been able get my hands on subtitles and certainly do not have the cultural/historical knowledge to say anything about the themes or narrative. So I have been watching Step by Step for 11+weeks and you might have noticed me posting about Man Tiramisu a little bit

He was always messing up and will never be like his golden brother neteyam or his wonderful sisters. There were a little few that saw him for himself and one of them is you his mom, you knew your sons struggles and the times he tries to be the perfect son for his father and mom. He had always tried to be the perfect child for the clan and everyone else but it always seem to fail. As he had never did it the way they had wanted he was not up to their standards. This patterns of being called the less perfect child and freak will follow him into his teen years.

Incoherent ramble bc I have the brain worms about Apo

I am very annoying and also unwell, which is why I have taken to scrubbing through a not-insubstantial amount of episodes from Apo's lakorns (without subtitles) to form some kind of picture of what kind of roles he was cast in while employed by channel 3, and sending screen caps to literally anyone with a messaging app in my immediate social circle (they are in hell, thanks for asking). So, now that I have run out of people to torment with my obsessive tendencies, I am left with posting into the void on good ole tungle dot com.

So far, it seems that Apo's bread and butter was a wholesome, boy next door, nong type character (this is based on quite shaky interpretations of Sut Khaen Saen Rak, Buang Banjathorn, Chaat Payak and Prakasit Khammatep) with some exceptions, such as Tiang in Chat Suer Pun Mungkorn, a hot-headed young gangster. These aside, I have not yet formed a comprehensive understanding of his profile as an actor, as I can't seem to get my hands on some of the dramas at all.

The aforementioned roles were all supporting ones, and I could only find episodes for one of his two lead parts, that of Pong Khun Boon Jirakit in Pra Teap Rak Hang Jai, an enemies to lovers story(?). His character sells artisanal traditional Thai silk(?) and ends up falling for a rich woman (Preeyakarn Jaikanta) down on her luck who needs to become independent and better herself as a person(?). Quite a straightforward premise. (He wears a bunch of plaid in the show, he looks uncomfortable.)

Now. What I have noticed about Apo's career in supporting parts is that the male leads he supports are very...narrowly masculine, in comparison to him. Apo has talked about having faced homophobia/general cishet discriminatory nonsense in the industry at that time, and flicking through these shows really illuminates how rigid the concept of a lakorn romantic male lead was (maybe still is, I don't know). Obviously, I gathered that lakorn gender roles were a tad more conservative, but I still struggled slightly with understanding why Apo was treated the way he was, bc I feel like he is relatively conventionally masculine (my european perspective impacts my perception of what constitutes normative gender roles, I know) to the point where picking up on any ~queer~ vibes would be a gays only event. However, I feel like I get it a bit better now.

Apo is very handsome. He is also beautiful in a way that a lot of these leads aren't. They are pointedly conventionally masculine, not necessarily hypermasculine, but going towards that direction, something that is emphasised by their role in the narrative and acting style. Lots of stoicism and displays of quiet suffering and anger. I know, it's very reductive to place gendered presentations onto a spectrum etc etc, but if one were to operate within rigidly delineated binary requirements for gender presentation that exist in media (and society, there's nuance), Apo does not quite fit the criteria of a leading man within the given parameters. Which is terrible, of course. I can absolutely understand why Apo got fed up with the industry and decided to leave it all behind.

Additionally, as pointed out above with the repeated archetypal character traits, I feel that he did not get to flex his acting muscles in the narratives of these shows, which is another thing he has commented on, though maybe not in those words exactly.

Thinking about all of this makes his recent successes with Kinnporsche and Man Suang terribly interesting and delicious. I recognise that narrativising a celebrity's experiences as an affective story like this is mad parasocial brain rot behaviour, but the idea of him taking something that he was disparaged for earlier on in his career (perceived queerness) and turning it into a factor of him surpassing that which held him back is very attractive in a story sense. Like, what a triumph?

I'm not sure if any of this makes sense or if this is completely old news to everyone, but for some reason I had to get it out somewhere. I'll probably read this back in the morning and cringe mightily.

The story mainly revolves around the events of Narinder becoming The One Who Waits, the prophecy that foretells of a lamb taking hold of The Red Crown and ending The Old Faith, and the consequences that befall on the mortals who worship them. This AU was first developed in October of 2022 prior to any major updates, with the disciples being the core part of the story from the beginning. That is to say, no, this story was not inspired by the Sins of the Flesh update and the disciples mechanic that debut. The way the disciples work in this au will be different due to that!

This is gonna be a long post I’ve been off, doing so many sketches of my and echolatons ocs - who we eneded up shipping, naturally :’D I wanted to write compile how it happened, for future me

so this is them:

Payak (they/them), a lawyer student anadi and Crimson (he/him), their new roommate half-orc. I won’t include all the art, but there is a lot.

This was the first time I thought “payak might have a crush on crimson”

They are dnd characters and I actually play payak in a game. Their best friend died there and I made it canon in our modern au. Crimson took very good care of payak.

Look, they are getting better

Of course, first reaction was denial. Payak knows how hard crimson had it with people before and they don’t want to ruin anything.

Too bad that crimson felt the same about the “don’t ruin anything” part. (a panel is missing here, cuz echo drew that, to the lyrcs of “dont you dare”, so you can imagine)

There is hope (again, echo drew one after this, crimson waking up to payak turned to him and smiling while he has a gay panic moment :D )

Confession! Don’t worry, payak did go after him and confessed back. Now they are toghether ^^ I’ll drop some wholesome sketches too

hello 👋 what is one thing na pinapahalagahan mo pero tingin mo tinitake for granted lang ng mga tao sa paligid mo?

sa totoo lang wala akong maisip. ang abstract. or nag o-overthink lang ako. hindi rin ako sociable na tao, dumadaan ang isang buong araw na ang nakakausap ko lang ay yung driver ng jeep kapag nagbabayad ako ng pamasahe o kaya yung tindera sa karinderya kaya napakaliit ng mga mga pagkakataon na ma-take for granted ako or ang mga bagay na pinapahalagahan ko.

may paniniwala ako na natural ang pagiging mabuti ng tao, at gumagawa lang ito ng mali kapag hinihingi ng pagkakataon. except mga marcos. hindi mga tao yun. dagdag mo na rin si inday sarah. may conscious effort ako na ingatan ang paniniwala na ito, umiiwas ako sa mga balita o impormasyon na hindi ko naman talaga kailangan o may posibilidad na ikagalit ko o kainisan. hindi naman talaga sa iwas. bawas lang. parang... isang panget na balita lang sa isang araw. at laging may appreciation sa mga pinaka payak na pagpapakita ng kabutihan. at ang kapalit, laging may ilan na pagsasamantalahan ito. ex hindi na magbabayad ng utang, hindi magbabalik ng gamit, minsan nga kahit simpleng pagsabi ng sorry wala na. kasi iniisip nila na mataas naman ang threshold ko sa mga ganitong bagay kaya akala nila ok lang.

kung tutuusin wala naman akong nakukuha dito. pero gusto kong isipin na binababa nito ang loob ko. gusto ko rin isipin na binibigyan ako nito ng palagay na loob sa mga bagay bagay. ex kaya kong lumabas ng dis oras ng gabi at maglakad kahit sa mga kalyeng wala masyadong ilaw kasi iniisip ko na mabuti ang mga tao dito kaya hindi sila gagawa ng masama sakin, tho debatable siguro kung saan ang punta ko. pero ang punto, hindi ako aligaga, at kung sakali mang may hindi magandang mangyayari, mas mahinahon akong makakapag-isip kung anong susunod na gagawin.

hindi ko na alam kung sinasagot ko pa ang TA mo o kung may saysay pa ang pinagsasabi ko dito. kung papaiksiin, pinapahalagahan ko kung ano mang kabutihan meron ako. kung magpagsamantala ang mga tao sa paligid, ex gobyerno, hindi dapat ito dahilan para maging mapagsamantala din.
