i know we talk a lot about that scene in patterns of force, but can we please talk about spock's sweater for a minute here? i mean, look...

it looks so soft and comfy! it's fit meant for a brisk morning stroll, picking up a cup of responsibly sourced tea at the local lesbian coffee shop, then perusing the racks of the new arrivals at the corner thrift store.

and speaking of thrifting...

it has holes 😭 did they replicate the holes? is it a cast off from the enterprise lost & found? is it actually spock's? and he wears it so often that it's worn down? and did he pick the shirt underneath to match jim's?

jim, honey. you probably shouldn't be pointing a loaded weapon directly at spock. that sweater doesn't need any more holes.

things that happen in star trek that sound not real:

captain kirk undergoes an FBI interrogation and destroys top-secret US military files

kirk and spock once again try to sabotage a US military operation upon which nuclear escalation against the Eastern bloc is contingent

kirk and spock lie to and run from the NYPD

chekov and uhura steal nuclear material from a US naval vessel at the height of the cold war

chekov is interrogated by the US navy at the height of the cold war

kirk and spock help overthrow the government of a fascist colony (includes punching nazis)

kirk and spock allow vehicular manslaughter to happen in order to prevent the Axis victory in WWII

Some excerpts from the rejected Star Trek episode "Tomorrow the Universe" by Paul Schneider, who also wrote "Balance of Terror" and "The Squire of Gothos." These pieces of the script may be lighthearted, however the episode itself was the precursor to "Patterns of Force." Both plots are centered around WWII, and ultimately "Patterns of Force" was chosen for production.

Patterns of Force: Looking for a missing Federation cultural observer, Kirk and Spock find themselves on a planet whose culture has been completely patterned after Nazi Germany.

The Immunity Syndrome: The Enterprise encounters a gigantic energy draining space organism that threatens the galaxy. (I feel like this description is a bit vague: it’s the one where Spock and McCoy fight about who’s going to risk their life to save the Enterprise after the Vulcan ship is destroyed.)
